This looks just..... wow. I'm in awe, really! Amazing job you did there! The detail is incredible! I'm jealous os people with resin printers hahaha

ValravenFR

Thank you ! I LOVE my Ender 3 but Resin printer are magic....

D4_V1NC1

Yup, the smallest thing i made on my ender was some chess pieces, and the result wasn't great... now seeing this level of detail with a resin printer just blows my mind to pieces! Not to talk about you modeling skill, witch are on another level as well! How long did you take to model this in Blender?

ValravenFR

I had already a few bones already made in my previous project so i did'nt made everything from scratch and i tend to hyperfocus when modeling so time cease to exist so i'm not sure....i spent 3-4 pretty intense days working on this baby i would say ?

D4_V1NC1

Just checked out your Instagram, AMAZING work you do!! Keep it going!!

ValravenFR

Thank you !

SarahC

We'd never get these sold in the shops - can you imagine the number of times something would happen to snap the wings off?

KniRider

Well since you won't sell the stl's can I just move in? :) lol My wife would pack my bags, I'm sure. Awesome. These skeletons you do are truly works of art!

teamsaxon

How are the bones connected? Can you pose it or is it printed in a static pose?

ValravenFR

It's a static pose, the bones are either fused or glued. I want to make a posable version eventually but i'm still trying to figure out the joint part so they cans be strong, flexible and discrete.

evilspyboy

As a suggestion because I did something more mechanical.... what about hollow bones that wire can be run through? I've seen models that do that sort of thing. if it is a collection of individual bones \*then the resin print should be able to do the hole through. I preordered the new Anycubic M5S but it doesnt arrive til August. This would look so cool, especially if it fits in one of those [IKEA display domes](https://www.ikea.com/au/en/p/haerliga-glass-dome-with-base-clear-glass-20327304/)

ValravenFR

I actually use the small Harliga ikea dome, this dragon fit under one of them (it's just a huge pain to take pic of it behind glass) The wire could be a great solution indeed, the only difficulty would threading the wire through the long bones.....I'll think about it, thank you for the suggestion !

admiralchaos

Would you be willing to take a pic of it under the glass anyways? Doesn't need to be fancy or anything, just curious about how the dimensions look

ValravenFR

Sure ! Here you go : [https://imgur.com/a/NW4eaFJ](https://imgur.com/a/NW4eaFJ)

Excogitate

Wire would be the easiest solution, I think. Should be as simple as making a hollow tube through the model in the correct places in meshmixer. So long as the bone is thick enough to fit the size of the wire.

[deleted]

His last coin too. RIP

Gus_Smedstad

I just assumed it was an undead dragon. Dragon Skeletons are a pretty standard enemy in computer games, and that’s so set my expectations that I didn’t for a moment think of this as an ex-dragon.

ProsperousPluto

PLEASE if you ever do decide to sell the stl post it here. I’d love to have one.

ValravenFR

Will do !

Full_Satisfaction_49

Woah can you please share how you supported such delicate pieces? I was just printing my own model and I really struggled with the supports either failing or be imposing to remove without hurting the model

ValravenFR

It took me forever to be able to print my skeleton reliably so i feel you. You need the perfect angle that higly dependent on your piece, a lot of tiny really small supports and a few bigger support that will anchors at places that can be easily sanded. Try to put your anchors in points that are close to the plate and in places that can be reach with a pliers. Good luck to you !

Full_Satisfaction_49

I just noticed that you're using ABS resin.. way more reliable. I was breaking my brain trying to get their "8k" resin to work.

[deleted]

Excellent print, excellent paint. Lovely work. AWESOME MODEL.

Syrea

God. I would love to print this :’(

Funkycrabs

Awsome!

SandersSol

Are you selling the STL?

RoyBeer

Yeah, sure. That guy killed and defleshed a poor lil' dragon just for some internet points. Looks effin' real.

Stormbringer91

Blows me away. It's hard to create true pieces of art with 3D printing but I think this takes the cake. Bravo.

ValravenFR

Thank you !

frickinlayzer

So how does this work? Do you download a dragon file or something then just hit ‘print’? How long does it take?

FixAgreeable2411

It works just like a filiment printer where it prints in layers using uv cured resin. Resin printers only have one moving axis tho unlike the filiment printers. It uses a LCD that displays each layer and that LCD lets the UV light shine thru. My gues is this print was done in pieces and prolly took about 8-12hrs of printing.

ValravenFR

good guess ! It's printed in 6 pieces and it take 14h.

FixAgreeable2411

I am in the process of learning 3d modeling. Starting small by re-modeling MMD models(I may have gotten over my head with the intricate designs). Going to use you as inspo to continue and grow to eventually make my own models from scratch. Hope you are doing well and in good spirits! Been following you for a minute, and love all your work.

ValravenFR

Good luck on your journey, the learning curve is harsh at first but being able to make your own files exactly how you want them is so great, keep it up !

ValravenFR

Haha i wish ! I made the file with Blender, it's about a week of work then i cut it into printable pieces (6 in this case) and make sure everything is to scale then support and print it. Once the printed pieces are washed, the support removed and cured it's sanding and gluing time. The last step is the painting, primer + paint +wash and tadaaaa !

FasterDoudle

How do you sand the really tiny pieces?

ValravenFR

Really carfully with a small piece of sandpaper that i fold so it's about as large as my index and i sand with one finger and i also avec some small files. It just take some time

frickinlayzer

How much experience did it take you to get as good as this?

ValravenFR

I've started making those seriously two year and a half ago but i had some experience in CAD before, that helped.

Questwarrior

I kinda regret giving up on resin printing now... this looks soo cool

BlueMonkey-CoCo

Awesome work. Been following your content and am blown away with every creation you make. Keep it up.

aucupator_zero

This looks amazing—it’s a result I’d like to achieve myself! On closer inspection, this kinda looks like a bone kitbash. Not that that’s bad, mind you. I see T-Rex skull, with horns, and a few other animals combined together.

ValravenFR

Thank you ! And yes you're right, i want to make the most accurate and realistic skeleton so i fecth inspiration from real skeleton. The back legs and skull are T-Rex like, the front legs and scapula are really thick felidae (bobcat i think), the wings are bat-like the sternum is bird like (for the strong muscle need for flying) but stronk (no spear through the torso would kill my baby). The hands, feet and the vertebras are more loosly inspired. They're my own frankenstein monster and i love them !

Professional-Car-790

Did you really print those teeth and joints?

ValravenFR

Yes, it's all about the inclinaison of the print and really small support.

Professional-Car-790

Damn! That's a really clean model

Z3R0C00L1313

Was this all in one print?? Cause if so....damn, I need to also get a resin printer

ValravenFR

Yes in one print on the Saturn it's in 6 parts and take14h hours.

Z3R0C00L1313

Nice

GeekCo3D-official-

Is that with Vroom settings?

98VoteForPedro

Nothing beats the aesthetic of resin printers

FixAgreeable2411

Are you able to share the STL for this??

tommygunz007

This guy gets the 3D Printing "Cool" award of the day.

TheRealTurdFergusonn

Awesome Dracolich!

hutraider

Can you put LEDs in the eye sockets? I imagine an Undead Dragon would have some glowin eyes

Flyrella

It's magnificent! Reminds me a bone dragon from HOMM3 game.

AshFalkner

Interesting anatomy on this dragon! It’s really detailed, and I like how it takes elements from multiple animals. The head is definitely a Tyrannosaurus skull, and the feet look like they have retractable cat claws.

Dragzel

that’s jut amazing. great work

bupe4life

I'd love the stl if your willing to share

Kroenen1984

very nice

gaakihodevoirra4

Bow to you

Shotgun81

Good lord... thats amazing.

jotajujuba

I needed one of these for my dragon collection.

loveragelikealion

I need this in my life. Are you selling the STL?

keta-minies

This is awesome : )) Clean painting too!

ze_lonely_goat

Rad

Sir-Charles220

That’s awesome, nice work

NotUrMumWeeOne

This is gorgeous! Great job!

jamestkirk1864

Wow that is so cool!

AsresGaming

If you ever post the files, just don't do it for free. That kind of work is worth so much! Insane model for real ! It's beautiful 🤩

Annomouse9000

He looks so happy to have his coin.
