bennacer tonali kessie was such a great midfield

Fuzzy-Tale8267

That’s what won us the title I believe. We had the best midfield in Serie A. We will need a top midfield to win again

TahomaYellowhorse

That midfield wasn’t SIGNIFICANTLY better than Hakan-Brozovic-Barella or Ruiz-Lobotka-Angiussa (Napoli’s was the best imo, they also had Elmas and Zielinski). But Inter and Napoli choked when it mattered, our defense was a brick wall, and we were mentality monsters.

juve_merda

agree napoli’s midfield was definitely the best, and the title was choked by inter rather than won by us which people forget kessie, giroud, leao and tomori were the reasons we won the title, not the midfield

DarkN1mbus

> the title was choked by inter rather than won by us That must be one of the most annoying takes I often read in this sub. We won the last six league matches in a row against tough opponents and beat Merda in the second league match. We earned that scudetto. Other teams lose points on the road all the time, we lost points to fucking Spezia and Salernitana that season.

Newyorkerr01

The least delusional fan at last. While not taking the credit where it's due. This is the moment that won us Scudetto: https://youtu.be/iLlIE9mGqPs?si=uhzjYdt06ux4jnDw Approx. 8:15 mark.

milan_obsession

Milan were in 1st place for like half of the season before, finished 2nd, and we were the most consistent in 21-22, leading much of the season as well. *We won it*. But Radu will always have a special place in my memory. https://preview.redd.it/a6kkvi774m9d1.png?width=510&format=png&auto=webp&s=b52cd722364d07074faf459b1a06342a138c9d93

PYRAMID_truck

Krunic started as many games at Bennacer (15) including the last 3 games of the season...and Diaz started 25...so...yeah...Krunic and Diaz too

RdT97

Not at all, Leao was willing goals in and the defence was impenetrable

mercurialsaliva

>Defence was impenetrable Thanks to the midfield. >Leao was willing goals in 15 goals... I mean that's great but also not that great? It was a whole team effort scoring goals and defending well. Especially our midfield.

whoppermaltmilkballs

Let's be real. It was Theo's heroics that got us the title.

Prestigious_Tough934

Bro that tonali's goal against Lazio gave us a major boost

chakalaka13

Tatarusanu's save vs Inter penalty...

volkor316fh

Almost every single player played a quantifiable part, it was a true team effort. Daniel maldini's goal in the 2-1 away at spezia, samu castijello's garbage cross that resulted in an OG winner against Verona.

lucs28

Castillejo also got us that pen, I miss that 40kg cazzo

BowieIsMyGod

>I miss that 40kg cazzo Heh

WeirdGuyWithABoner

yeah but would we get there if it wasnt for borinis goal against bologna in 18/19?

acm322

Giroud's brace vs merda

MickBeast

The midfielders who won us the title was Tonali, Kessie, Krunic & Diaz. Bennacer was injured and never managed to become a starter in the scudetto season. He did become a starter the following season where he was kinda bland...

xaxashi

I dont believe how peope forget how bad Kessie was in his final year with us. Its like someone did a massive brainwashing or smthing

volkor316fh

Bad first half of the season but he regained form in the second half

lucs28

Yeah, he basically eliminated us from ucl, but he was very important in the second half of that season

sempreantoninho

You have massive brainwashed yourself. As soon as it became apparent that Kessie was not gonna renew the fanbase turned on him making excuses that he is expandable and had a bad season. He did not have a bad season. He struggled a little from the beginning, maybe bad for his over the top standard but not comparing to other average midfielders.

xaxashi

lol this is next lvl delusion. go back and watch the games from that season

ramcha123

Bennaccer was immense after winter break.

4thelolzz01

That winner against Cagliari away was a thing of beauty

kappa23

Diaz lmao please be serious Such a nothing player he was, an absolute downgrade from Hakan

MickBeast

Sure but he was playing more than Bennacer and contributing more as well

rossonero-

Can someone explain what the title means? My english stops here😂

Amargaladaster

Absolutely terrible translation lol

WeirdGuyWithABoner

im assuming the translation would be closer to the Arabs doing more than market research and are actually interested?

rossonero-

I just checked the original tweet and OP probably used google translate because in this context 'sondaggio' means inquiry but instead it's written as "poll" here.

Amargaladaster

It is just google translated without any effort by OP to make it make sense in english. Poll, summit are just not used like this, especially in football tweets.

mercurialsaliva

Arabs more than interested had a 4 hour meeting.

Ciccio_Camarda

I don't think they will say no. Bennacer is the highest paid player(gross wages).

TahomaYellowhorse

Would be interested in who his replacement might be. I think every player has a price. Especially one who is often injured, out of form, or away at AFCON every 2 years

ElectronicLuck9505

50M and we get fofana/weiffer and another midfielder and also we would have extra money to spend on a cb

ZlatanKabuto

Good, hopefully they'll pay us at least 40-50m.

mercurialsaliva

Release clause which is only valid in July is 50M

ZlatanKabuto

I wouldn't be surprised if we let him go for less tbh. Let's see.

Fuzzy-Tale8267

50 mill and he’s yours

BredIN919

if we lose Bennacer I swear our level will drop significantly when it comes to creation and overall possession . Y’all smoothbrains won’t realize this until he’s gone

TheNewGuy13

I love Bennacer but he kinda became expendable in a way this season. Injuries, poor form, and afcon means he never got in form and others played ahead of him. He never really got into a rhythm this season. And we still finished second.... If a good offer comes in north of 40m I don't think it's that crazy tbh. Reijnders, Musah, Adli, and RLC all contributed really well. If this was last season and Bennacer was out for this long we would have been super fucked though. But with the reinforcements we got it helped level us out for a bit. I think if we can solidify our DM first, then Bennacer might be on the move sadly.

juve_merda

he’s never fit and when he is he’s trying to play himself back into form, then he fucks off every other year for AFCON and gets himself injured there aswell

psychomontolivo

How will we ever survive without his random turnovers right in front of the defence, his complete lack of press resistance and best of all the 7 games a season he's actually fit

4thelolzz01

Press resistance was one of his best qualities before his big injury... A full preseason with the team would definitely help in bringing him to his former self but I still wouldn't say no if the Arabs pay the 50m rc

psychomontolivo

Very much disagree with his press resistance. Having a few highlights where he beats the press doesn't mean he had good press resistance. The amount of times he would get tackled and lose the ball in dangerous positions was insane. If we got an offer over 30m id sell. Can definitely get a better player for that much

kevinconstant

Do you guys even watch the matches?? In his first two seasons with Milan Bennacer was one of the most press resistant midfielders in Europe? Absolutely baffling critique

psychomontolivo

Bennacer had strengths but they were always weighed against his tendency to turn the ball over in his own half. You can argue he turned the ball over more because he took risks to open teams up, but to say he was one of the most press resistant midfielders in europe makes me roll my eyes out of my skull. Looking forward to him leaving so I don't have to deal with these takes anymore

kevinconstant

I’m honestly not sure what games you’ve been watching? Perhaps you need to double check you understand what press resistance is. I invite you to name me a more press resistant midfielder Milan has had in the last decade than skinny bennacer

psychomontolivo

Like most of them? Our fanbase has such a bizarre tendency to be completely blind to the flaws of certain players and other players they'll be completely blind to the strengths of. Took years for our fanbase to realise how good kessie was

kevinconstant

Ok you either don’t know what being press resistant entails or you don’t watch the matches. Either way this is pointless. Have a good day

psychomontolivo

Damn thanks for letting me know

nightnurse97

Bennacer press resistance is crazy high bro. Clearly you never watched Milan games and only watched Bennacer's games when he returned from injury and wasnt at 100%

psychomontolivo

You caught me psychomontolivo is a new fan

21Maestro8

Clearly you've just started watching and googled Milan legends for your username Your profile pic cracks me up btw

The_HomoSaurus_Rex

Let's go! 32M+ and we good! We at least double what was paid for a now (unfortunately) inconsistent, injury prone, and unavailable every Afcon for no reason. Plus we don't have to deal with a renewal, we can offer a bit more than Bennacer makes now to a replacement, I guess in that scenario we wouldn't have to choose between Fogana and Weiffer :D

21Maestro8

>and unavailable every Afcon for no reason. What do you mean for no reason
