I had three French teenagers approach me a few months ago in awe, saying "is it you?! is it really you?!" and when I said "what?" they said "from Tiktok! We love you!" They were getting their phones ready when I was like "no, wrong person" and they were like "are you sure???" I just walked away.
For context, I'm tall, fairly handsome face, long blonde hair, bit of stubble. I didn't catch the TikTokers name as I still had one earbud in.
I guess? I watch some pretty niche Twitch channels and would be excited if I completely randomly caught a glimpse of them walking through a small town centre. At the same time, is "celebrity" really the kind of thing we want to gatekeep as Platform-dependent? I don't give a fuck if they're on TikTok or The Apprentice, at the end of the day they're just populists.
In the world of personalised algorithms yes they absolutely are - there are people on TikTok with millions of followers who you or I have probably never heard of but for someone else would make their day to bump into them casually.

I’ve had Asians ask to take pictures with my child, she has blonde long curly hair and blue eyes. I’ve also had a random woman ask to take her photograph so she could paint her. She also draws photographers who are out capturing images for local papers she’s been on the paper more than I have and she’s 5!
You’re lucky. There was at least once when the biatch still took a pic after I said no. In fairness I was looking picturesque that day. Another time the knut insisted so much I thought I was going to punch him.
