South Korea is supposedly the 3rd largest crypto market.
Caveat: South Koreans predominantly buy Shitcoins. Hopefully ... the BTC ETF will change that behavior.
We have UK BTC ETF supposedly in May as well. Time to load up š
Lol dw. As south korean I can tell you there will be plenty of boomers that would want to allocate a bit of their assets into the btc etf, just like the US. Boomers r loaded in south korea too
LOL. Some smart money does, but Iāve been educating my parents on this and my mom did buy btc. My dad has enough so he doesnāt care to buy sth new haha. Regardless, yk Koreans r serious about btc. Our btc price is 10% higher than that in USD. Koreans call it āKimchiā premium lol, but still donno whereās the premiumš
Freadom of money (Bitcoin) dictates that wealthy companies have the right to buy as much Bitcoin as they want, just like you.
If those companies also want to sell "shares" of that Bitcoin to the general public ... how is that any of our business?
I think Bitcoin is fantastic ... I own some that I keep in cold storage.
I also think the ETFs are also fantastic ... I own significant holdings of the lowest fee options in my tax advantaged accounts.
The ETFs are a great option for legal tax avoidance on BTC capital gains. The ETFs are also great for people who are not comfortable with being their own banker.
> buying etfs means the wealthiest companies on the planet get to enjoy the benefits of actually holding bitcoin
Buying Bitcoin ETFs is not hodling.
You just have easy exposure to the Fiat price of Bitcoin. You do not get all the benefits of hodling real Bitcoin.
āYou just have easy exposure to the Fiat price of Bitcoin. You do not get all the benefits of hodling real Bitcoin.ā
No I realise that, I mean why would people bother buying the ETF when all you get back is an IOU. I guess people just want the fiat gains and not a new monetary system. Unless the ETF is for companies?
Spot bitcoin ETFs hold the actual bitcoin. You may be referring to bitcoin future ETFs.
ETFs are easy to trade in and out of. They are also IMO the safest place to hold bitcoin other than cold storage.
This is speculation at the moment but financial institutions will give fiat loans with bitcoin ETF collateral.
At the end of the day though not your keys not your cheese. And youāve gotta pay the ETF fees.
Correct, it's just for individuals and entities who cannot normally or easily invest in bitcoin to gain that exposure within their current investing framework. That's why ETF approval goes through such a stringent process, the governments that regulate those investment mechanisms want to make sure they're safe for consumers and corporations.
well it allows people to access bitcoin in tax sheltered accounts, if available. and it allows people to use money that otherwise COULDNT be put towards bitcoin, to now hold bitcoin. You still hold bitcoin, you still own physical bitcoin. you just dont personally hold it, it is held for you. but it is held by massive, reliable and regulated companies that have held 100 trillion dollars for a century, so its not that much more sketchy than self custody. I have a work retirement account (canadian equivalent to a 401k) and ive had WAY more money in that account than my bitcoin holdings investing for longer than bitcoin has existed. And i was never worried my insured and regulated account was gonna get drained of a blackrock S&P500 etf, why would i be any more worried about a blackrock Bitcoin ETF? if the bitcoin etf is too risky, ALL Equities are too risky and i guess owning any stock is bad, apple is going to 0$ and every modern investor is a charleton. but im not that deep into the conspiracy theories to beleive all that myself.
Some people think too much black and white. You can own bitcoin and enjoy the gains and the freedom, and still be invested in stocks or ETFs.
Seriously if we will see high 6 figures btc price some day, I will also buy stuff like the s&p500 or some dividend paying stocks just to be diversified.Ā
I love btc and trust it and understand it, but as soon as you reach some level of wealth, you want to have your wealth spread across different investment options.Ā

In UK it's an ETN (not ETF) and available only to investment firms, credit institutions, pensions funds and insurance companies
UK Gov don't like the peasants getting any of that pie that's for sure.
Lol dw. As south korean I can tell you there will be plenty of boomers that would want to allocate a bit of their assets into the btc etf, just like the US. Boomers r loaded in south korea too
Hope so ... do South Korean Boomer's even know what Bitcoin is ...

They said that when Hong Kong allowed etfs
I hope so cause this was the impression of people before the previous ETF was approved
Didn't it go up like $20k after ETFs were approved??
Plus the 3x before that might've been in part due to buy the rumor.
I think they mean the Hong Kong ETF
Hong Kong had a good turn out given the size of that market
Everybody wants to join the pants party.
Party pants?
People need to update their models, ETFs are now the primary signal, while the halving is secondary.
Spot ETFs seem to have been a great success so far that other countries are taking notice
South Korea is a very prosperous Capitalist country. This is great news!
Slowly the cards are all falling. Hong Kong and South Korea are the 1st to lead Asia in a new wave of normie Bitcoin adoption š
You are right
Mr.100 makes more sense with this happening.
How so?
It was somewhere posted that Mr. 100 was withdrawing/depositing to Upbit which is primarily a Korean citizen only exchange...
Oh I see!
So what youāre saying is Korea is already priced in?
likely the exchange buying up ahead of this anouncement
Ah thatās interesting!
It went down when china etf launched, starting to recover now.
Is this real? are they really allowing Bitcoin? context please
Cool, cool... now let me register my bank account at your stupid exchanges. god damn it, SK
Hope so. Chinas offering didnāt do much. Weāll see.
Just want to say thank you for posting this here. I decided to delete all my social media accounts except Reddit.
I donāt get it, buying etfs means the wealthiest companies on the planet get to enjoy the benefits of actually holding bitcoin
Bitcoin is the rising tide that lifts all boats. Just like the Internet democratized data, so too will Bitcoin with money
Wow this is actually so true.

Hey! Thereās no room on this sub for nuanced opinions on the various ways to own or get exposure to get Bitcoin!

But bitcoin gets all the price benefit of etfs holding real bitcoin. So that's a plus š

Retirement accounts. Also some people are more willing to rely on a legal framework than themselves.
I can see that for sure

China + South Korea = Asia
True true, Iād throw Japan in the mix, would be nice to see them go crypto crazy.
Which will do literally nothing. Look at what happened when the HK etfs released
Last I saw inflows in hk have lead to pulling over 5000btc out of the pool. So not a lot. But not nothing
Just political gossip No possibility lol
Soon North Korea šŖ
Lol. I donāt think so.
