wendigo72

Just realized I messed up the title lol Sorry bout that

VanlllaSky

i read things way too fast so i didnt even notice the typo

Akimbo_shoutgun

Their is a typo? Where?

Florick345

That arc is a banger in my book.

Notmycupoftea12

I loved the arc, especially the fight against Nue.

Salty_Shark26

A little weird for anime only cause he uses the jogan in the first arc and never again. Before I read the manga I thought he would use it again in each arc. It was only when I read the manga did I realize the anime just threw the jogan in the first arc for no reason.

wendigo72

It appears again when he fights Momoshiki in the anime but yeah it’s weird

AJDx14

The jogan is basically an anime-only thing at this point. If it’s meant to ever appear in the manga it not having shown up by now is insane.

4-3defense

Little Nue is the most precious

Starscream1998

You're not the only one, I loved watching this arc.

pawahiru

The animation was actually pretty good this arc, I still love the fight with Nue.

solemnjockey

Arc was a banger

HomesliceHeroes

Folks will hate boruto in any way they can

Egyptian_M

Naruto fans hate any thing not manga

Lukario06

some of them even hate thing what are in manga

Egyptian_M

TBH I don't care about canon or not if it is good and don't hurt the story it is canon to me I am not a power scaller so I don't care One of the filler that I love is that one were shino faught against torune and neji, kiba, shikamaru and choji got there rematch against the sound 4

Snoo71809

sick filler, gotta love the war filler always a treat

Kakashi_Senju

People hate it? The only thing I don't truly like is that it has Nue surviving Kakashi Purple lightning I would have loved if it could absorb ninjutsu to gain strength but that's about it

Johnirequirelasanaga

i loved the arc too, it's one of my favourites

the_shadow01

I consider it essential watching

No_Bit_2034

for me it was one of peak boruto arc. it was just fun. if you don't like this arc you probably won't like the rest of his journey either.

DreyDemon

I liked the arc as well and I feel like people wanted more of a grounded start but then when they actually got it they complained. I think the flashfoward scene made everyone want to get there as quick as possible, so seeing the nue arc having them not even as genin yet, made people mad.

Maleficent-Chard-699

Lotta peopel r bots.... like if naruto released today they would be shitting on him

Nuan_7

I remember back then when Naruto was out still in the OG time people already hated on it and on Naruto and hated all 3 of team 7 Then shippuden came, more people liked it but then there were the OG people that hated on shippiden and how it all went downhill and how OG Naruto was so much better bla bla bla and so on. Only the internet wasn’t available as much as today so we see even more hate. But Naruto was defo hated back then too And I’m sure every time something new will appear the old one becomes good so they can shit on the new thing lmao

Maleficent-Chard-699

Yep it's happening with star wars right now lmao.. Just wait till they make varuto (vbn are right next to each other on keyboard) and everyone will say baruto is good.

wendigo72

Again I’m sorry Reddit won’t let me fix the title

agaboo

No probs man, I understood what you’re saying and yeah, it was a good introduction but very slow paced in my humble opinion

7_E-N-D_7

This was an amazing arc and the best way to introduce us into the story. These kinds of fillers are absolutely needed too for a series like Boruto. It brings the much needed story, character development, world building and relief. If they really go the seasonal way, we are going to miss out on very much. They must do anime canon atleast.

Careful-Ad984

I really like it but they really wasted the momentum with nue and sumire. The 2 could have been main character level of important especially with The implication that borutos eye and nue have a connection

wendigo72

I’m headcanoning that Sumire’s connection to the Nue is >!Why she wasn’t affected by Eida’s ability!<. (Spoilers for both Boruto manga’s)

Orochimaru27

Loved that arc!

No_Distribution5982

I love it, especialy Nue i wish we could see him soon in the manga. Also i'm a massive pokemon fan and nue realy reminds me of it!

No-Gap-7474

I thought it was fire. A good way to establish why these kids were considered “prodigy’s” tho they were raised during times of peace. The manga just kinda showed a lot of them, not really introduce them like the anime did

scrayla

The academy arc is still my favourite boruto arc ngl

Silent-Courage-1129

This arc was nice and they didn’t get lazy with the animation. One of the best Boruto arcs to date

Nuan_7

Don’t they treat anything that is a filler like it’s the biggest trash out there without seeing it? I liked it. But I gotta admit I like a lot of the filler eps in Boruto. There is only a few that feel like real real fillers imo 👀

DelayStriking8281

I loved the slice of life, light hearted intro arc. That’s what got me hooked up until the Chunin exams. There was the episode right after that, on the Hokage heads, where Boruto showed a ton of character development and him and Sarada had a moment. I got excited Then they completely killed the momentum with the Mitzuki arc and I completely lost interest.

PeterPuggerSpiderPug

I think it was a few different things. I think it was mostly that we saw a destroyed Konoha in the future, and then we got sent back to ninja school, which was very anticlimactic for people waiting for this series. The other thing was we had the Boruto movie already and saw Momoshiki, then again l, we were sent back to ninja school, which felt like a backtrack. People starting Boruto for the first time might not really understand the anticipation we had when this series was first starting. I liked it this ark, but overall, the Academy arcs felt very out of place in a Naruto continuation. At least imo.

To me it doesn’t make sense that you can’t grasp the concept of someone NOT going through the same thing but still having enough empathy to understand you. I mean that’s how the world works. Or would you not understand anyone going through stuff while you’re not going through. Now combine Boruto being able to put himself into other shoes with his families genes and him being able to attract a lot of people around himself and impacting them. You have to have that something to be able to help and impact others.

Notmycupoftea12

Boruto isn't like Naruto. Naruto's biggest flaw was that he only felt empathy for people "who were just like him",means, people he could either relate to or who faced hardship like him. That is why he has such a close bond with Kawaki, but not with Boruto, since the latter never faced hardship like Naruto had to. Naruto literally cherry picks the people he feels sympathy or empathy for. He doesn't *try* to understand people who aren't similar to him. Boruto is different. While he knows that he can’t put himself in other peoples shoes, he still feels empathy for them. That is why he was able to go through Sumire. He didn't understand the situation in a way where he could put himself into her situation since he never *was* in that situation, but that doesn't mean that he can’t *try to understand* her. Boruto was never judgemental towards her just like he wasn't towards other people to whom he had the same effect. Denki,Iwabe,Kagura,Ikada,Tento...Boruto tried to understand them rather than trying to see himself in them. He is just super *empathetic*.

Tobi_is_a_goodboy

Because "feelings"

Cariostar

Boruto doesn’t pretends to understand what she went throughout. He refused to believe that Sumire was faking everything all along regardless of her objectives, which was true as it was the one time Sumire was genuinely happy.

One_Worker8268

Actually one of few good arcs It feels bad knowing that the rest are trash😭

Derantmk

It is canon, Naruto and the last also had symbolism that greets cowboy bebop in the rain trio and team 7, Kishimoto's purpose with Naruto in the dynamics of the trio was that the trip to utopia would happen because they did not experience what that those in the triangle red dragon lived so that all three could be alive in the end. There once was a tiger striped cat. This cat died a million deaths, revived and lived a million lives, and he was owned by various people who he didn't really care for. The cat wasn't afraid to die. Then one day the cat became a stray cat, which meant he was free. He met a white female cat, and the two of them spent their days together happily. Well, years passed, and the white cat grew weak and died of old age. The tiger striped cat cried a million times, and then he died too. Except this time, he didn't come back to life

senpai69420

It's a slice of life man

Ok-Caregiver-6005

It was cool but a lot of people were traumatized by the sheer volume of filler Laye Naruto had.

TakasuXAisaka

Technically the real introduction is the Chunin Exams because that was where the manga began on.

wendigo72

Talking about the anime specifically

MechanicAnxious1452

I don't get the hate for boruto in general

Pro_Hero86

I hated the end but I agree the arc was overall good compared to a lot of other ones

seraphimkoamugi

Arguably it had one of the best moments in the first half. There were also a lot of instances where boruto pulled off og sasukes moves.

panznation

I liked the arc but it kinda set a bad tone for the rest of the series cause you have sumire boruto and mitsuki who are basically performing at jonin level and then after that they somehow struggle with much weaker foes later in the series

Tagliarini295

Not trying to be mean, Boruto fans like it. Everyone else hates it.

wendigo72

Why - what are the specifics criticisms. People will on and on about how bad it is but never say WHY

Tagliarini295

The animation is trash for 90% of the show, it's mostly filler, the characters are lazy and uninteresting, the story is uninteresting and no matter what you guys say Sasuke and Naruto were nerfed to high hell. I hate the androids and all the alien stuff. Theres a lot more but this is what come to mind quick.

wendigo72

Now you’re just talking about Boruto in general (androids and Otsutsuki’s are barely in the anime). Spouting off random barely coherent criticisms with no substance I’m talking about the Academy arc which had great animation most of the time thanks to the director (he later left the series).

Tagliarini295

Oh my bad I jumped the gun lol. Cant speak on this specific arc in detail, watched it and hated it that's all I remember.

wendigo72

Fair enough

Vrajgautam

It's all about the ending broo. And boruto felt weird. Like he knew sumitr was bad and yet he fought her to bring her back (dude that shit was intolerable in Naruto too but people watched it as it had a bit of maturity in it) but this is just poor writing.

wendigo72

She’s his classmate and friend. Clearly going through some stuff I don’t like how unforgiving and cruel the fanbase tends fo be

Vrajgautam

It's common sense blud

wendigo72

They were literally 8 years old in this arc

Vrajgautam

But their audience isn't.

wendigo72

Boruto aired right after Pokémon for Japan. Kishi has also always said Naruto was intended for young teen boys

Vrajgautam

Maybe. But everyone i know who have watched Naruto boruto. Have watched Naruto and are past 20 LoL. I mean yeah sumire arc was a real let down. But other arcs were pretty interesting. However I feel like kishi should stop making stuff for kids. Boruto's story needs more depth. Anything that's made for children but is not... will just fail flat out. Best example Thor love and thunder. The directors made it for children whereas people who were excited to watch it were adults who grew up watching thor

Vrajgautam

However chunin exams arc and then momoshiki arc was good. Even time travel one is also good. However the one I enjoyed the most is mujina gang arc. Man it had good writing compared to other arcs. Where they simply say "power of friendship" and shoot colorful lights from their hands

SenjuSageofthe7th

This was horrible

superkami64

It's not exactly the best introduction due to some episodes not being important to the conflict, the formula of "Boruto minds his business, person goes berserk, he beats them up, problem solved" gets repetitive, there's a fairly interesting sidetrack for an episode and a half (episode 8 and the first half of 9) that accomplishes nothing and never gets picked up again in future episodes, and the conflict where Boruto fights Nue and TnJs Sumire from her master plan was disappointing since she faces no repercussions from trying to destroy the village.

ShadowsBringer

The Academy Arc sets a bad precedent not only to the following Anime arcs but also the manga completely throw away any suppossed big conflicts that ended up being bunch of nothing by undercutting the needed payoffs and the lack of drama and reprucussions. It was not worth waiting nearly 15 episodes to find out the main culprit only to last 2 episodes with Boruto emulating Naruto cringey TNJ parallels and Sumire gets to walk out Scott free and pretend nothing bad happened afterwards without any consequences. The Manga did it on a much grander scale where instead we have to wait 80 chapters of Momoshiki Prophecy to see it transpires which did not lived up to the potential and hype when everything that was unfolded lasted for 3 chapters with fluff because nobody dies and Boruto was conveniently was saved by Sasuke to get out of the situation quickly and slapped us right into the timeskip. Sasuke is the only person that amounted a complete change of Boruto's character and that completly devalue the whole "Losing Everything" Boruto continues with this bad rep because it didn't bother to put enough effort into the writing and this beyond the OG Naruto Characters we're talking about.

VanlllaSky

i dislike that episode about a stalker, feels like total filler compared to the other eps in that arc

Wisniaksiadz

Nue was cool. I just dont like that we do t know what it really is. Its not summon and despite, all summons we saw were Animals with eventually some weird weapons or armor, this is straight Avatar shit

wendigo72

It’s tied to the Otsutsuki’s as it resided in another dimension. The foundation somehow got access to it and could control it with hashirama cells Think of it like a tailed beast basically Also we’ve seen other IRL Japanese mythical beasts be used as summons too. Danzo summon Baku and multiple Pain summons were mythical creatures

Wisniaksiadz

I always saw pain summons as these twisted by him Animals, that are in constant pain and near death state but dont die. Something like from elden ring. Danzo summon is still bassicly elephant. I understand that they are references to some myths and legends, monkey is bassicly wukong. But they were all still Animals, the crows, eagels, snakes, snails, weasel. This one is kind of a magic creature and this was always more mysterious for me.

wendigo72

Yeah like I said its from another dimension and seemingly created by the Otsutsuki’s, probably Kaguya but I’m not sure

wendigo72

It is also apparently actually referred to as a Yokai which no other summoning has ever been called Only the ten tails was called that to my knowledge

Unable_Swimming2745

The pacing is slow which isn’t good for people who expect to get hooked by episode 3.

sageandy

What in the English did I just read

wendigo72

I already said I messed up on the title Sorry

CLKConnor

This arc is good enough but it was the field trip arc that made me quit watching

wendigo72

Why

CLKConnor

I feel like they were trying to capture the energy of the land of waves arc from Naruto and just completely failed and I didn’t like the kid who was to inherit the sword of the mizukage

wendigo72

That’s very understandable

AwayReplacement7063

I didn’t mind it but the extent of strength shown by the ninja in the academy, imo, is unrealistic to what was portrayed earlier on in Naruto/Shippuden.

mo-did

Nue is weak af, their is no reason boruto should have fone as well as he fid

wendigo72

The reason in the story is the jougan was boosting him. Like showing its weak point

mo-did

That does not justify a genin beating nue at all. Isnt nue on the level of a tailed beast?

wendigo72

It wasn’t defeated by Boruto, it stopped cause it didn’t want Sumire to die and That caused the dimension they were in to crumble It would get more powerful off the chakra it absorbs. That’s why Naruto couldn’t fight it, cause it would be unstoppable if it started absorbing his chakra

Apprehensive_Gate480

It's amazing

Zealousideal-Law9207

I hate narutos son anime, but this arc is good

bic-mini

nah it was ass

wendigo72

Why
