So your theory is that their opponents suck because they’re not taking a lot of shots? Not that the oilers are defending well and limiting shots? Even though Dallas averaged over 30 shots against the Avs?

I don’t think anyone knew about Dube. When I heard that there were players involved Dubes name never crossed my mind as I was like he’s the captain of that team he would never have been involved. But I was wrong about that
lol. Everyone knew the second his agent released the statement. Anyone saying otherwise was burying their heads in the sand because he wore a flaming C.
Ya when I saw the difference between his agents statements and the other players I was concerned lol. Most of them were like X player was not involved but will be cooperating with the investigation, Dubes comes out aggressively threatening to sue.
The painful part about this mini-rant, is the final sentence. The organization does deserve this. They’ve operated arrogantly for years despite no worthwhile success. The organization has earned their irrelevancy and lack of success. As fans? We do our part. I’ve spent years drumming up excitement for the Dustin Boyds and Joni Ortios of the Calgary Flames prospect pool only to see the Flames then finally draft reasonably well, only to then turn around and destroy any promise of success thanks to incompetent management and an inability to hire a good coach. There’s a reason why there is constantly “smoke” around this team in the media. They are poorly run, and either don’t know how to build a good team or are willfully and arrogantly dismissive of the patience required to do so - both of which are bad spots for us, the fans.

What I find funny sometimes is that ownership can get really defensive about Calgary being labelled a "2nd class market". Despite this, they usually act in a way a team in a 2nd class market would operate.
- The team has to be good, bc if they aren't attendance will fall and they're suddenly worried about relocation.
- Play hardball with the city and province for decades to finance a new stadium, despite ownership being worth in excess of 5 billion dollars and easily capable of financing it themselves (again raising the spectre of relocation)
- Looking to the bargain bin for the of majority the last quarter century's franchise players (Giordano, Fluery, Kiprusoff, Gaudreau, even Iginla to an extent).
- Constantly trade away draft capital for older players and often playoff rentals. The only teams who have drafted less than the Flames in the last 20 years are PIT, VGK, and SEA.
Arrogant is a good way to describe it. They act differently than all the other teams in the league and defend themselves as "maintaining a winning culture". Well if its such a winning culture, you ought to wonder why no one else is doing it.
Edit: They only get away with it because the Flames fans of Calgary care, and there's no other game in town. "Voting with your wallet" is hard when it's your team, and this ownership has proved time and again they will leverage that for financial gain.
Remember the killer B's of the Early 2010s that were supposed to be great for Calgary? Bouma Baertschi Backlund Brossoit 😆 it's been rough hasn't it...
A good example of the old boys club hiring their buddies as GM's and coaches which ultimately makes them irrelevant with no success. Lots of Canadian teams have this old boys problem but Calgary is one of the bigger offenders of it
I'm starting to believe that the Flyers and Flames are genuinely linked by some otherworldly shit.
We're only good when you are good. We're currently having a real shit time too.
So please sort your shit out. I miss the playoffs.
Funny coincidence as well, and a bit sad. But both the Flyers and Flames lost a player to the World Juniors scandal.
In your case, it’s a pretty huge loss in Carter Hart. In our case, it’s Dillon Dube - still a loss, but it’s not like losing McDavid either.
And yes, if found guilty they both need to pay the price, but it’s still interesting that this happened to both teams. As a lifelong Flames fan, I’m pretty neutral on the Flyers, but it would be nice to see some new teams have some success.
Fair point. I just wish one of those new teams was the Flames.
Also, it’s now just the final 3. Of the 3 that remain, I’d be happy if either Dallas or Florida won.
My brother and I were just talking about this lol. Both of our franchises have had so many similar issues/experiences especially with our state/provincial rivals
Selling Tkachuk for a win now package instead of futures set this franchise back 5-10 years. We could be in the position where there is already a light at the end of the tunnel. Instead, we’ve barely entered it. Sad shit. Not a single blue chip prospect for a rebuilding team is dire.
Nah we could have pivoted off Huberdeau if we didn't panic and sign him to that idiot contract before he played a game. It would have been obvious he wasn't a fit and we could recoup some assets at TDL.
In hindsight, that contract almost feels like a big ole' fuck you from Brad Treliving who figured he was out the door anyways.
And while I didn't believe it was going to be as bad as it turned out to be at the time I was extremely against it from the beginning.
He wasn't on a UFA year so we had ample time to figure out what to do and how. Signing a player to 10 mil, a level reserved for the highest players in the league, sight unseen, is insanity; as is clearly proven right now.
Figure out if the player even fits into the organization before signing that type of deal.
I'd love to see a retrospective from Lindholm 20 years down the road to figure out just how that went down. It seemed like those two couldn't get along from day one. /u/ROFLSIX brings up the locker room in his post up above, *exactly*, what was indeed going on there?
Third oldest - Seattles arena was built in 1962, and like MSG they extensively renovated it. Also that’s going to change in a few years when the new one opens.
Point still stands. Our arena is ancient AF.
Oh me too, it’s my childhood! But all good things come to an end. Plus I want Calgary to get concerts again.
My only ask is that they don’t make the new arena look like a Walmart. I want something with some character, something that reflects well on our city.
They should do this design: [https://davesgeekyideas.com/2014/06/21/calgary-stetson-arena-concept/](https://davesgeekyideas.com/2014/06/21/calgary-stetson-arena-concept/)
Seattle's arena was like 85% to 90% new build. Their city council wanted to save the roof lines because it tied in with the World's Fair from 1962, that's all they saved. It would be like Calgary's new arena having the saddle dropped on it.....Hmmm now that's a concept.
Still technically considered an extensive renovation, rather than a new arena. But yes, I’m being nitpicky.
It‘s kind of like an old heritage home. A home built in 1912 could be completely gutted inside, given modern kitchens, bathrooms, etc., but it’s still a home from 1912.
MSG has also been extensively renovated since it's original construction. Just because it's the same frame in the same spot doesn't mean it's the same area.
MSG is a beautiful, modern arena. The Saddledome for all it's charms, is not.
It started the day they gave up on Monahan and tossed him out. Gave him to Montreal WITH a first round draft pick. In hindsight, almost unbelievable. Just a serious run of moron-leadership. It doesn’t take much for Treliving flashbacks to trigger me. lol. Need to stay off Reddit for a while.
Nothing against Monahan, and I’m happy for him getting over his injuries and playing well again.
But I will say this: I’m also happy with how Kadri has worked out for the team. Him and Kuzmenko have been bright spots in an otherwise difficult couple of years for our team.
I am optimistic things will get better in the next couple years, and that the Oilers will fall short in the finals, so it’s not all doom and gloom for me. But time will tell! We just need to do a rebuild already. And Huska isn’t terrible either, but we should’ve hired Andrew Brunette instead when he was available, rather than let him get scooped up by Nashville.
Not yet at least, and personally I am still hoping Dallas pulls off a miracle (kind of like Edmonton did in Round 2). I want Dallas to win the cup, they’ve always been my #2 team. I’m just not getting my hopes up - as a flames fan, let’s just say I’m used to disappointment.
If the Oilers do make the finals, however, I expect them to fall short. The Panthers won the Presidents Trophy in 2022 and made it to second round, then were the runner ups in last years finals, and this year look likely to make a second finals appearance after defeating this years presidents trophy winners (that will probably happen tonight tbh). They have depth and experience that the oilers simply lack. I’d say the same for the stars, they’ll probably also lose to Florida if they make the finals.
I think about 4 hours from now, the Panthers will be in it though. Guess we can revisit this if they somehow miss, just that that seems unlikely at this point.
Agree with you there though, Edmonton loses either way. I think this year whoever wins the east wins the cup.
Update: they are now! And I am glad to see Adam Fox gone!
My first choice is still for Dallas to win the cup. However, if that’s not possible, I’ll go for the Panthers. At this point, anybody but Edmonton!
I love Monahan and still proudly wear my Monahan jersey. Probably my favourite player that doesn't play for the Flames. That said... He seemed to be racking up injuries fast. I'm glad he bucked that trend this year but the way he was headed in a Flames uniform it felt like the next thing was needing a double lung transplant. Just seemed like some bad juju following him.
I agree!! Monahan was a gem!! I hope we sign him as a FA this summer!! And a 1st to dump his contract. What a slap in the face to mony!!! And our team!!! Huge monahan fan!!!
Does anyone else remember the whole "it's on the players now" narrative after Derryl got fired? It seems like we all politely dropped it despite Huberdeau and Lindolhm playing even worse.
Choosing to try and remain competitive when Tkachuk asked out is a mistake that will haunt this team for the remainder of the decade (at least). They were in the perfect spot to move assets and get a huge hall for what many expect to be the best draft since 2005. Instead we got anchor contracts that will see us through 2030.
I wish we knew how the locker room was because I know a lot of people here thought firing Sutter was going to be the cure all-fix all solution. I suspected it was deeper than that and some players probably just didn't like a hard coach and there may have been some toxicity within the team. Seems like that was the case as they've only gotten worse. It's a shame really.
At this point I'm fine with that so long as they can get something decent for him. The alienation certainly didn't help Conroy's bargaining position.
But you have to remember, the Flames were just 4 points out of a playoff spot, how could we have given up!?!?
Ps. At no point last season were the Flames in a playoff position.
I’m worried about his trade value. This summer teams now have Saros and Ullmark available and both will be more sought after than Markstrom. Should have just moved him to Jersey at the deadline.
I think the reason that he wasn't traded is because he tanked his own trade value already. Markström had one great regular season for Calgary and a disastrous Playoffs; other wise fairly middle of the road.
I am not trying to be funny here, but his stats align with an appropriate 1a/1b tandem and not a full starter. Which is fine, plenty of teams have proven they can play that style with success but he isn't (or hasn't proven to be) elite.
Watch the highlights from the Panthers, NY game last night. Those are elite goaltenders.
If Wolf can get his shit together then a Markström / Wolf tandem I could see being really decent. Both of those are questions marks at this point though.
Wish we had traded him, that would've been a huge benefit for us. It was plain to see we were not a good enough team for playoffs and multiple guys would be leaving the team
Imagine this and then add being an Angels fan on top of that.
I would like to go one off-season without being kicked square in the nuts. Just one.
I’m about ready to give up on pro sports all together.
You can add Dube to the list. So disappointing.
If anyone needs a way to cope, here's my list.
- The return of Shilly
- Rick, Kelly, and Ryan Leslie
- Weegar is a beauty
- Zary is the best Connor
- Dustin Wolf potential is exciting
- Kuzy potential is exciting
- Pospicil being an entertaining thorn
- Sneaky Backlund PK breakaways
- Decent future draft picks
-Conroy and Iginla reunion.
-Huska is a breath of fresh air
-Farm team is in the same town now and has been very good since moving
-Lanny and the alumni continue to be charming af
Huska is my big comfort in all this. His post game talks are insightful. His rapport with the players appears strong. His trust in the team’s leadership team actually exists. Seems like a good dude, great hairstyle.
Interesting take on a public social media. I offered my opinion nonetheless. I don’t think there’s a stat on it. But I’d say they are both Alberta’s teams. The flag on the jersey doesn’t matter. Most polls online will tell you it’s the oilers. I guess Reddit allows my opinion. :)
No. But I decided to offer my opinion. It’s ok to be wrong buddy. It’s all part of learning. If I were you I’d think with my head and not my feelers. Being emotional is ok, we’re all different.
•The Calgary Flames organization has created a professional program whereby they coach and train their best players to excel in preparation for a deep run in the playoffs and then trade them to other teams which are now in the playoffs.
A terrible time and won't get better any time soon. I respect those that are optimistic although I'm certainly not one. We are a mess, our Western Canadian rivals are thriving and the California teams are rebuilding while our ownership are stuck in the delusion that all is well. Treliving gambled, it went about the worst it could have gone, he fucked off. We could have started the rebuild in 2022 (yes I know mostly an ownership thing). Maybe it is because I am British and a part of English football culture but it is the norm in that culture to be much more vocal and vociferous about this level of incompetence and failure.
Add a new billion dollar event center being built for the team, mostly at taxpayer's expense and with almost all of the profits that will be made at the new building contractually destined to go into the team's coffers, and still having no reason to believe that ownership will be willing to do what it takes to build a consitently winning franchise. They've settled for mediocrity since the mid-1990s - why think that they won't continue that mentality even if the new building generates the increased amount of funds that they could use to put together a real winning team?
That's what kills me. Ownership doesn't want to rebuild properly bc that means bottoming out and the lower or even negative profits it entails.
From one perspective that's a loss, from another, that's an investment in draft capital and prospects.
So to my perspective, despite massive public investment, ownership is unwilling to invest in the team's long term potential.
BTW, the new stadium will have less general seating than the saddledome, but it will have more corporate boxes and you can bet all the concessions will be marked up 50% from what they are now.
Paying $15 for a hot dog and $15 for a beer will be a lot of fun in order to generate the profit to pay the salary of players who really aren't hesistating anymore in saying that they really want to get traded out of here. I do not envy Conny and Iggy in their attempts as the new management in trying to move this shipwreck from where it's been beached for far too long.
While this does suck, its nothing compared to the Young Guns Era of the mid to late 90s when Iggy came on scene and was just starting to build his career. No nosebleed seats and still struggled to fill the 'Dome on occasion. This was the struggle, that when the early 00's came around we were ready to rock this town. And we did.
And it was in.
End rant.
Canucks fan here... Are Oilers fans not the biggest sore winners you've ever faced? And then they go around acting like they're the authority on how classy each fan base is.
The Canucks lost their series to the flames a couple times, but usually the shit talking tamed down after the series. With Edmonton they just shit talk even more after winning.
I truly believe it all fell apart when management lost patience in the rebuild and spent picks on Hamonic (turned into Dobson). It signaled the transition from rebuilding to "contending" one year too early. At our peak with that core it always felt like we were one high end piece away from being a real threat and that was when we gave that up for a year of playoff revenue.
So? Trade huberdeau for nurse and put stetcher or anyone else in nurse’s spot and tell me they’re doing worse.
That point is irrelevant to mine, and I’m just talking some shit...
Nurse has had a rough playoffs, but his reputation is far worse than his actual play. Despite how “awful” he is, that sad sack team is 1 win away from the SCF while he still logs not unsubstantial minutes.
He’s a top 2 dman generally speaking. Huberdeau meanwhile was 5th in flames scoring 2 yrs in a row and got 900k/ goal this season. And that’s the best yrs of his contract.
Its not debatable at this point, even when Huberdeau started playing better in the back half of last season, he only put op a 70 point pace. That's not bad, but not even close to being worth his contract.
Unless he experiences a miraculous return to form, I doubt a worse contract will be signed this decade.
The worst part is that even if he recovers his form and the Flames somehow miraculously make the playoffs, it’s almost a guarantee that he’ll stink it up there because he was never a playoff performer for the Panthers. The main reason they got rid of him
That’s because a lot more goes into how a team performs than a single contract. That point has nothing to do with a player/contract one-to-one comparison.
It’s definitely close. The difference is when nurse is bad, he is actively hurting his team. When huberdeau is bad, he’s just... there doing nothing. Both horrendous contracts.
Shit happens to all teams. At least Conroy is doing things right currently. Lol at Edmonton. They were worst team in NHL for an entire decade. Locked in McDavid and still took another nine years to be relevant
I wish we’d just tanked instead of missing the playoffs to get nothing out of it. We need to rebuild badly. Everyone is gone now - Gaudreau, Tkachuk, Lindholm, Hanifin, Toffoli, Monahan, Zadorov, Tanev - and what do we have to show for it: an old guy underperforming for a record high contract, another old guy who won a cup already so he doesn’t need to really care anyways, and a goalie out of his prime. Weegar is the only player I’m actually proud of us having, maybe Sherangovich as well who is performing pretty well under the circumstances with our expectations for him being pretty low to begin with. And then there’s Backlund who got the token captaincy.
Why can’t we get the Oilers treatment? Consecutive top picks to the point where we have to get rid of them to fit in new ones. Hall, Nuge, Yakupov (lol), McDavid, Draisaitl… what the hell happened to the draft “lottery” that they got so lucky anyways? Whatever it may be, we need to take a few years to rebuild.
That Monahan trade is looming large too. We’re going to lose a 1st round pick because it gave us the opportunity to trade him away.
In hindsight, the best decision would’ve been to give up Monahan in the expansion draft, keep Sam Bennett and Mark Giordano who both would’ve been very helpful in the 2022 playoffs. But that would’ve taken a smart GM to realize that Monahan was consistently trending down and down and down and Bennett was a playoff monster. Too bad we didn’t have a smarter GM.
You aren't exaggerating these points, but we are about to make a huge shift as a team and redefine our identity. This comes across as whiney to me. Sports are going to be around for a long time and I've been a Flames fan for a long time. We are no where near as bad as some of the perennially terrible teams. Buffalo has won 0 playoff games in the last 10 years. That ain't us.
Instead just accept that the phoenix rises from the ashes and we can't shit on anyone right now because we don't have the gusto to back it up. Instead of these posts making us try to feel sorry for ourselves. Let's recognize that it has to go up from here and the future is exciting for us because we don't want to be where we are right now.
Love you Conroy and you're a big part of what gives me hope. The 2003-2004 run was amazing with you and Iginla and I know that you care about our team so I think you'll do what you can when you can to improve us. We are just along for the ride now.
Ah I see, well I guess to all fans who are feeling down then? Heed my words. You have to slay a couple dragons before you get to the princess. Just hang in there fellas.
Every fan base has lows and highs (highs that your pic neglects). I’d say, quit focusing on the bad. We’re in the upswing with CC and young blood coming in
Kind of helps we have the two best players in the league up here lol. How did Luch work out for ya? Perhaps you guys need to crater next season and get a first over all pick.
I hate this timeline
Self inflicted from refusing to rebuild when everything was screaming that it was time.
They missed "death of Harambe" as the first thing in the timeline that precipitated this sequence.
Imagine what a shit sandwich it's going to be if the Oilers win this cup this year after getting the easiest 1st/2nd round matchups in the West.
I know. I'm worried
No kidding. Skinners getting like 15-20 shots a game.
So your theory is that their opponents suck because they’re not taking a lot of shots? Not that the oilers are defending well and limiting shots? Even though Dallas averaged over 30 shots against the Avs?
No
Woah woah woah. Kings sure, pretty clear we'd beat them but the Canucks were in no way an easy win. Give them some credit lol

Flyers are my brothers team, so I'll cheer for them when they don't play Calgary.
Yeah it’s crazy, I’ve always said Calgary is Philly west. I talk about it all the the time with my friends who are Flyers fans.
Well we cursed Dallas and now here we are
This is the most true answer. We played with forces we did not understand, and now we have…. This…..
Came here to say this…
OUR OWNERSHIP IS A GIANT BAG OF “FLAMING” TRASH. That about sums it up.

They should do this design: [https://davesgeekyideas.com/2014/06/21/calgary-stetson-arena-concept/](https://davesgeekyideas.com/2014/06/21/calgary-stetson-arena-concept/)
Way too cool for our lame city council
Sadly you’re right. Not getting my hopes up that they’ll actually give us a decent design.

I mean, the panthers aren’t in yet, either. But I don’t see Edmonton beating them or New York.
I think about 4 hours from now, the Panthers will be in it though. Guess we can revisit this if they somehow miss, just that that seems unlikely at this point. Agree with you there though, Edmonton loses either way. I think this year whoever wins the east wins the cup.
They are now 😸
Update: they are now! And I am glad to see Adam Fox gone! My first choice is still for Dallas to win the cup. However, if that’s not possible, I’ll go for the Panthers. At this point, anybody but Edmonton!
Agrees
I would love a Canadian team to win, but not Edmonton. Florida will crush them. I'll be cheering for Tkachuk to piss off McDavid and Draisaitl.
And goaltending and a smothering checking system.
Wait. You think this started AFTER Gaudreau and Tkachuk left. That's a take and a half.
Fr. It's been like this since Murray Edwards arrived lol.
Since they traded all the good players to Toronto after the Cup win. The team hasn't done much since. One trip to the finals, key word trip.
Don’t forget the Kadri golf commercial.
Also alienated Markstrom when he returned to form with the whole New Jersey debacle, so he's probably gone.
And an Angels fan?? O.M.G.!! What did you do in a previous life to deserve that.
As a Chelsea fan, I can commiserate to a point, although being an Angels fan must be tough my dude. I respect you for hanging in there this far.
Also we have conditions on our future firsts.
Brad Travailing fucked us. Pretty simple.
You can add Dube to the list. So disappointing. If anyone needs a way to cope, here's my list. - The return of Shilly - Rick, Kelly, and Ryan Leslie - Weegar is a beauty - Zary is the best Connor - Dustin Wolf potential is exciting - Kuzy potential is exciting - Pospicil being an entertaining thorn - Sneaky Backlund PK breakaways - Decent future draft picks
-Conroy and Iginla reunion. -Huska is a breath of fresh air -Farm team is in the same town now and has been very good since moving -Lanny and the alumni continue to be charming af
Huska is my big comfort in all this. His post game talks are insightful. His rapport with the players appears strong. His trust in the team’s leadership team actually exists. Seems like a good dude, great hairstyle.
- Yegor Sharangovich
Blake Coleman career year
You mean Goalman :)
You mean Captain Goalman.
I like how your second point is a broadcast team lmao. Agree on most of the rest of the list. Putting our eggs in the wolf basket scares me though.
Gotta celebrate where you can lol
Experience flams hockey
Sorry bros, f the oilers. Calgary is the only Alberta team IMHO.
Hopefully Dallas can mount a comeback
I’d say there’s more oil fans in the south than flames fans in the north. But believe what you want.
and they all smell like doodoo
I’ll take smelling like doo doo to make a SCF lol, at times I thought never again in my life
I was stating my opinion friend. Not asking for yours.
No one asked you pal
No. But I decided to offer my opinion. It’s ok to be wrong buddy. It’s all part of learning. If I were you I’d think with my head and not my feelers. Being emotional is ok, we’re all different.
You’re in the wrong sub for that buddy.
Better kick me out in that case.
Lol you’re thinking of the oilers sub
You forgot about the whole Dillon Dube thing going on too
•The Calgary Flames organization has created a professional program whereby they coach and train their best players to excel in preparation for a deep run in the playoffs and then trade them to other teams which are now in the playoffs.
You forgot Gio, and monahan being sacrificed out and their highest ever draft pick requesting a trade because Derek ryan was being used ahead of him.
Bennett is a playoff monster.
Ugh. So true. Treliving is a scumbag.
Its not a billion dollar event center!
Multi billion dollar event centre?
While this does suck, its nothing compared to the Young Guns Era of the mid to late 90s when Iggy came on scene and was just starting to build his career. No nosebleed seats and still struggled to fill the 'Dome on occasion. This was the struggle, that when the early 00's came around we were ready to rock this town. And we did. And it was in. End rant.
Treliving was a really really awful GM despite what his account here claims
Canucks fan here... Are Oilers fans not the biggest sore winners you've ever faced? And then they go around acting like they're the authority on how classy each fan base is.
This coming from a Canucks fan is fucking rich
The Canucks lost their series to the flames a couple times, but usually the shit talking tamed down after the series. With Edmonton they just shit talk even more after winning.
Ure right brother. How is the golfing?
LOL an oilers fan proving my point. I thought I smelled something.
Well you aint lying. Now join the bright side and jump in the wagon.
Is it harder than being a leafs fan?
With treliving now in charge maybe not 🤣
Well when you put it like _that_ ...
Edmonton Oilers vs. The Florida Flames.
Sam Bennett just scored too
Who did we even get for Bennett?
Treliving fucked us over at the worst possible moment in the middle of a long rebuild
I truly believe it all fell apart when management lost patience in the rebuild and spent picks on Hamonic (turned into Dobson). It signaled the transition from rebuilding to "contending" one year too early. At our peak with that core it always felt like we were one high end piece away from being a real threat and that was when we gave that up for a year of playoff revenue.
also zadorov requesting a trade after that one bad loss after he said he loved calgary, and went on to have an incredible season with canucks 😹
Whoa whoa whoa. Worst contract in the league is quite obviously Nurse.
Probably Huberdeau now.
It’s not even close man. You can hide an underperforming winger but they can hang a good 10 losses a year on that big dummy.
The big dummy who’s one win away from the SCF?
The main reason they got rid of him
One team is a win away from a cup final with the Nurse contract the other isn’t even sniffing a playoff spot with the Huberdeau contract.
That’s because a lot more goes into how a team performs than a single contract. That point has nothing to do with a player/contract one-to-one comparison.
No one will give af about Nurses contract if they win a cup,
It’s definitely close. The difference is when nurse is bad, he is actively hurting his team. When huberdeau is bad, he’s just... there doing nothing. Both horrendous contracts.
Just think - we may get to see Chucky and Bennet raise the cup in Edmonton. There is some positive left in the season!
Yeah, so wonderful to see 2 guys that wanted out win. That's putting lipstick on a pig, at best
I’ll kiss a pig covered in lipstick before I’ll cheer for Edmonton to beat anyone, including former Flames
Well obviously, but it's still a pig.
Shit happens to all teams. At least Conroy is doing things right currently. Lol at Edmonton. They were worst team in NHL for an entire decade. Locked in McDavid and still took another nine years to be relevant
Don’t forget Dube being charged for SA
I feel like there's more
But... But it's about the friends we've made along the way.
Feel better by reminding Jets fans there's three of their former players on the Rangers battling a former defenceman and the coach who quit on them...
Dube charged with SA…
Canucks Fans: ”First time?”
Mercury is definitely in retrograde
If there really is a god out there Dallas will beat the oilers
I'm a sabres fan. I feel your pain
Go team
As a lifelong Oilers fans it honestly pained me to read this.
Atleast we have the wranglers
Sens fan here, was Markstrom honestly that bad? Cuz if he was worse than Korpisalo...well that's somewhat impressive
Don't forget the downfall of Ruzicka.
Try being a canucks fan. At least you have a god damn cup
Bill Peters Curse
That about sums it all up ! Don’t go get losing big Z to van he is a great physical scoring defender that we should have kept !
I hate our owner
Imagine being a Sabres fan
Tkachuk and Bennet back in Stanley cup finals
I'm not seeing "new arena" on this list...
Flames fans aren’t willing to or able to speak out against this mediocre team.
Lol
Hang it on the Louvre
Get foked WOMP WOMPQ
Treliving destroyed this team
That Monahan trade is looming large too. We’re going to lose a 1st round pick because it gave us the opportunity to trade him away. In hindsight, the best decision would’ve been to give up Monahan in the expansion draft, keep Sam Bennett and Mark Giordano who both would’ve been very helpful in the 2022 playoffs. But that would’ve taken a smart GM to realize that Monahan was consistently trending down and down and down and Bennett was a playoff monster. Too bad we didn’t have a smarter GM.
Did get a new arena at the expense of the Albertan population though.
These aren’t my points. They’re from @in.the.dome on Instagram
Ah I see, well I guess to all fans who are feeling down then? Heed my words. You have to slay a couple dragons before you get to the princess. Just hang in there fellas.
I feel like we got dicked pretty hard on the arena deal too
Every fan base has lows and highs (highs that your pic neglects). I’d say, quit focusing on the bad. We’re in the upswing with CC and young blood coming in
This is what happens when you mess with black magic
Stars in 7. If not, I’m all in on Tkachuk and Bennett. Let’s not be negative, OILERS FUCKING SUCK!!
Kind of helps we have the two best players in the league up here lol. How did Luch work out for ya? Perhaps you guys need to crater next season and get a first over all pick.
Think you have it bad look at the Toronto Maple always
Treliving is one of the worst GM's in the league. He pretty much single handedly distroyed that team ..
