Positive the sound is not in the accessory drive? If it’s from the transmission. Then it may be the oil pump

Pewds4congrats

I believe I narrowed it down to the oil pump which is upsetting.

Jayswisherbeats

I bet. I’d be upset too. It’s 4 wheel drive too ain’t it. Not an impossible job. But definitely a good bit of hours involved.

Pewds4congrats

Definitely gonna have a shop look at it. The transmission is where I cross the line of what I can or can’t do.

Pewds4congrats

Update: Its not coming from the transmission after i looked into it further, might be the power steering pump

Jayswisherbeats

One last thing you can do to verify is take the accessory belt off and start the truck just for a couple seconds listen for the whine and if its not present then something in the accessory drive is not happy

Pewds4congrats

Thank you for the input by the way

Jayswisherbeats

Yessir! Best of luck buddy. It’s cheaper to keep her.

Pewds4congrats

Ill check this tomorrow, ill update you.

Have you had the fluid looked at, might be foaming up and causing the whine in the pump if the detergents are broken down.

Pewds4congrats

The fluid is relatively new and ive topped it off. It leaks so this could be the problem. Im having a shop look at it tomorrow
