Congratulations on your Red Ribbon Win!
When I entered pieces in the state fair for my state I was always happy to receive any ribbon especially after seeing all of the other entrees in my class.
There are some incredible stitchers out there and clearly you are one of those. Well done and congratulations your piece is beautiful.
Well clearly the judges thought your piece was worth a ribbon and a second place ribbon at that.
I have found it interesting how the judges make their decisions. There have been times that I did scratch my head about some of the choices the judges here made.
I have been involved in judging an art show and that was difficult so I am sure the judges for needle art have just as much of a challenge.
Shame they put hardinger in the same class. This is a great piece.
I have won 3 firsts, three seconds, three thirds and three honorable mentions in the San Diego County fair, but Hardinger is a separate category.
But I could bitch for ever about classes and judging. Now I just do it for the discounted fair ticket for entry.
But to me this is a first place finish in the sampler category in the San Diego County fair, so well done!!
Hardinger is in a separate class but it wasn't solely Hardinger. It was a counted cross stitch with Hardinger. Plus there were three classes of cross stitch but very few entries so everyone got lumped together for judging. Trust me when I say this piece was nicer than mine.
Oh I totally believe you. But just am FYI for a huge county like San Diego for 2023.
So if you were here I think you would have won. I have always wanted to do CA state.faor, but it is such a hassle to mail framed works.

I'm going to take this piece to state next year! (While I work on and finish the next show piece). Maybe I'll enter it in San Diego after state. Going to show this thing till I can't anymore.
Wow 😮 that had to be quite an investment of your time! And well worth it at that. You have invested your time in a stunning piece of art that you can pass down thru your family.
YOU WERE ROBBED!!!! I don't care if the first place piece had some silly Hardinger elements or not. Your piece was difficult, intricate and beautifully executed and the backstitching in CCS is far more diffuclt that Hardinger. You deserve first place.
incredible investment of time and effort for something that lovely. so glad your got the red ribbon. looking at the size, i thought to myself 'tapestry,' and all the time the women in medieval times spent making artwork to cover their walls. wtg for doing your very best. :))
I have this pattern… for 5 years. I have banished it because after working for 2 years I attempted to meet in the middle and was a row off. I might go back to it one day…. Beautiful job!!!
That piece is very hard! I have it sitting in time out as it’s many pages have me confused! Can you share any advice on how you did it? Seeing your beautiful piece makes me want to pick it up again!!
It took a year and a half to complete. What kills ya is the confetti stitches! I separated it into quadrants and then just finished one quadrant at a time. I also did all the colors one at a time too. Just slow steady work. It also keeps the pages down

I am absolutely thrilled and first deserved it. I thought I was neat, holy smokes, that person made mine look like a hawt mess.

U did great just from knowing how crazy these can get, I can already imagine what a winner would look like ur design was fab!
This is first place in my book! It’s gorgeous and the mat and frame are a perfect choice! 🥇
Thank you!
That's stunning. Congratulations
Thank you!

Congratulations! You deserve the win. It truly is a piece of art. Wonderful!
thank you
This is absolutely gorgeous. If something this incredible won second, I can’t even imagine who got first!
Going this weekend and getting a pic for the thread
Congrats well deserved red ribbon.
Wonderful. Congratulations!
Thank you!
I would love to see a pic of first place as well if you have it because I just can't imagine how this isn't Best in Show!! You did an exquisite job.
I'm going next Saturday. I'll take a pic and post.
If this won second, what the heck was first? This is gorgeous.
First is gorgeous and very very neat. I'm going this Saturday and getting a pic for the group
Thank you! A gorgeous piece with Hardinger.
Congratulations 🎊 It's a beautiful piece.
Thank you!
I have this pattern… for 5 years. I have banished it because after working for 2 years I attempted to meet in the middle and was a row off. I might go back to it one day…. Beautiful job!!!
Thank you! And yes, this pattern is deceptively difficult
WOW. Stunning
That piece is very hard! I have it sitting in time out as it’s many pages have me confused! Can you share any advice on how you did it? Seeing your beautiful piece makes me want to pick it up again!!
Hahaha Time out! I love it!! I have a couple of pieces that are sitting in a time out too but I never thought to call it that. I henceforth shall.
We don’t quit…we just put it in time out!! In my case sometimes it’s long enough to forget how I screwed it up!!
It took a year and a half to complete. What kills ya is the confetti stitches! I separated it into quadrants and then just finished one quadrant at a time. I also did all the colors one at a time too. Just slow steady work. It also keeps the pages down
Damn. If that’s second …
The first place was very good. The stitches laid really neatly.
Congratulations. Awesome work!
