LanternRaynerRebirth

Started watching Archer and rereading Grayson around the same time. And I eventually came to the conclusion that these two duos will have the same voice anytime they are around each other since they have the same dynamic and look. Grayson's default voice for me is Troy Baker, so moving him to Jon H Benjamin's voice isn't too much a stretch. Anyway, do you guys have weird voices for any characters and if so, how did you get there?

SafeAccountMrP

I’m convinced whoever was in charge of the art for Grayson was watching a lot of Archer at the time. https://www.reddit.com/r/batman/s/FKQP1bRPEm

EOverM

> am I straight I'd be utterly shocked if you were, Richard.

tullia

Nightwing to Supergirl: "Kara. Kara! KARA! KAAAAARAAAAAAAA!"

one_happy_fredditor

Fun fact: Baker actually voiced Nightwing in Injustice: gods among us.

LanternRaynerRebirth

Exactly where I got it the voice from! Adjacent fun fact, he also stars in Tales from the Borderlands. His character Rhys and his partner from the game are exactly the voices I use when reading [Booster Gold and Ted Kord](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JH14UjMyNYw).

bob1689321

I always read Helena as posh British. Idk it just works for me. Fits that Bond Girl kinda vibe.

Duckydae

that interesting because to me baker will always be jason, but i can’t unhear mcartney for dick.

Poorly-Drawn-Beagle

I did once read some snippets of Animal Man to my younger brother using a Steve Irwin impression  No, the character isn’t Australian in any sense, I don’t think I can explain the decision, but it’s stuck in my mind now

Poppajoppa

Ever since the start of Krakoa, I’ve read Sinister with voice and inflections of Snagglepuss

AstroNards

That’s pretty good. I kinda like Bruce from Family Guy ![gif](giphy|l396BXlj6Xgzav3xK)

PowerhouseFlashBack

Bruh that’s gold

MagusFool

Interesting, I like that. I read him as Matt Berry.

Top-Supermarket-3496

I like to read Swamp Thing with Treebeards voice.

Charlesoutofcharge

Sinestro sounds like Ulfric Stormcloak from Skyrim with the accent toned down

LanternRaynerRebirth

My voice for Sinestro is so inconsistent, it's not funny. Used to be French, then it became British, now I'm at southern/ cowboy. But I'm liking this one you have from the small video I watched for reference.

Charlesoutofcharge

Now I'm gonna reread the series and picture him saying "Yee-haw" at the end of every speech bubble

MrCowabs

“Howdy, Hal Jordan!”

Charlesoutofcharge

That's the tragedy of all this, Jordan, Hal. We'll always be cowpokes

Papasimmons

For Nightwing, I've been giving him Jesse McCartney's voice ala young justice.

Ash__Williams

Man, "Grayson" was so good. At the point, i wouldn't mind if Dick stays as Secret Agent and Tim became the "Ex-Robin turned to Vigilante" as Red Robin again.

dustyholland

Tim's Red Robin run was fantastic, especially for his character. Change the name and bring back his unhinged behavior and I would be thrilled

AX-man

Im scared that they’ll take a long time to give Tim anything after the Drake fiasco

Feisty_Marzipan_2783

🤷‍♂️ Red Robin isn’t a restaurant chain where I’m from so I personally don’t have any issue with the name.

dustyholland

Same here and that's why I have an issue! I can't take him seriously. Plus, he needs to move away from the Robin handle.

Pathogen188

Grayon continues the long tradition of the best Dick Grayson books being ones where he's not Nightwing

Ash__Williams

Maybe the Universe is telling us something.

samx3i

Sure as shit beat the Ric shit

Duckydae

i really wish dc gave tim something to do, i think he would’ve made an excellent red x.

Ash__Williams

That's the kind of things that only work for a short time.

Ziggurat1000

Wildcat I gave Grunkle Stan's voice whenever I read his dialogue cause I think it fits. Myxyzptlk I gave Ice King from Adventure Time's voice because I think it also fits, too, in my head.

AX-man

Wallace Shawn is stuck as Mxy for me

Ziggurat1000

I can definitely see that!

MehrunesDago

Mxyzptlk sounds like the Great Gazoo to me

SkyReach2266

It's Marvel, but I read Storm in Angela Bassetts' voice. It's so fun

ExMothmanBreederAMA

During the Doomsday Clock I realised I used the exact same gruff voice for Rorschach as Batman, so would try and do their scenes together with no pauses in between their lines cause it was funny. Black Manta is also Australian whenever I read aloud because one time I’d assigned my few American accents. A lot of comics I read end up featuring Australians and French characters because of this limitation.

Bright_Type_7756

This might be a little vanilla sure but yuri lowenthall fits a little too well with dick Grayson

wowlock_taylan

When I find a book or storyline silly, I imagine the dialogue in Gilbert Gottfried's voice. Makes it somewhat better.

DullBicycle7200

Same, I often hear Gottfried's voice for sillier characters and storylines, particularly whenever I read Power Girl.

TheMasterXan

Nekron has a Jamaican accent. That is all.

opponentPitt

Morgan freeman and Christopher walken for all the female characters

tsu_bacca

I have Batman voiced by Kevin Conroy, Superman by Mel Gibson and Wonder Woman by Vanessa Williams

Big_Jon_Wallace

Kevin Conroy is pretty inescapable. I have George Newburn as Superman personally.

godlyreception12

for me though For young Superman, I tend to imagine The Late Kirby Morrow's voice, and for older Superman I tend to imagine Tim Dalys Voice

OldYellowBricks95

That's not untraditional though

tsu_bacca

Mel and Vanessa I believe are not

MehrunesDago

Joker should also have a New York accent like Harley Quinn, unless it's Scott Snyder's ancient abomination Joker lol

Massive_General_8629

For me, it depends on what I'm reading. Pre-1970 Joker, for instance, is Cesar Romero, while post-1970 Joker is Mark Hamill. Though both are much more traditional voices for the Joker, the split is unique, to my knowledge. It fits to me because the two could very well be different characters.

---LandoCalzone---

Any character with a skeleton esc face sounds like skeletor or papyrus in my head

Feisty_Marzipan_2783

A mix of untraditional/semi-untraditional (in some cases) voices: Superman - Tim Daly (Superman: The Animated Series) Dick Grayson - Neil Patrick Harris (Under the Red Hood) Cyborg - Michael B. Jordan (Flashpoint Paradox) Green Lantern (Kyle Rayner) - Will Friedle (JLU) The Flash (Wally West) - Josh Keaton (Crisis on Two Earths) Martian Manhunter - Kevin Michael Keaton (Young Justice) Oracle/Barbara Gordon - Rachel Bloom (Batman vs. TMNT) The Question (Renee Montoya) - Vanessa Marshall (Batman: Bad Blood) Firestorm (Jason Rusch) - Cedric Yarbrough (Crisis on Two Earths) Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) - Christopher Meloni (GL: First Flight).

TheRealBroDameron

When I’m reading post - “Dark Knight Returns” and “Year One” stories, it’s always Kevin Conroy for Batman. Before that, the words are always so cheesy and expositional that it’s hard not to hear Adam West as my Batman.

eastoid_

If I feel Batman in a story is behaving a little too sigma male, I hear his lines in a voice of Badman.

Oreohunter00

"Harvey Dent, can we trust him?"

Vixterisk

And I will borrow that now, thanks

Beastieboy100

Nightwing voice its either Jesse McCartney or Brentan Thwaite. Beast boy my voice for him is ryan potter. Wally west always between justice league voice or YJ.

Ashamed_Pin4206

Huntress is voiced by Claire Hamilton for me https://youtu.be/x6A7zIb29OI?si=Al-KCvNBtsX-yTVI

fridchikn24

Barbara, Barbara, BARBARAAAAAAAAA

LUNATIC_LEMMING

ugh WHAT?

Dramatic_Parsley_849

Martian Manhunter voiced by Morgan Freeman

Fluffy_Ant_1507

Dick Grayson Josh Keaton Batman Kevin Conroy Superman Whoever voiced Bucciarattinin JOJo

Bluemookie

Just read Seven Soldiers for the first time. Every time Frankenstein spoke, I used Peter Boyle's voice. I tend to use Jon Hamm for narrator blocks.

Bluemookie

I'd also read that All Star Batman and Robin, the Frank Miller failed series, is INFINITELY more enjoyable when you replace Batman and Robin with Rick and Morty.

HowDyaDu

Lucas Schuneman as Mr. Bloom (specifically with his Nef Anyo voice) David Byrne as the Ten-Eyed Man (Pre-Crisis) Faye Mata as Magpie (Based on her roles as Malty Melromarc and Aqua)

SirRomulus_Bonaparte

Batman is Rino Romano or Deidtric Bader. I probably didn’t spell their names right.🍇

OldYellowBricks95

I don't know his name, but with older Batman comics, I use Batman's voice actor from Mortal Kombat VS DC Universe.

PepsiAidMan

I give Red Hood (Jason) Logan Lerman’s voice,Red Hood (Original) Perfect Cell’s voice and I give Punchline Junko Enoshima’s voice. (Yes,the fashionista lady from Danganronpa.)

Prestigious-Scheme-4

I use Scott McNeil's Wolverine voice from X-men Evolution for some reason. I've tried to read Wolverine in Blum's voice but it never sticks in my brain Doctor Light is the Monarch from Venture Bros Sue Richards/Storm has a husky but breathy voice, I can't really describe it but I worked it out from reading the early FF issues by Lee and Kirby

EliteTroper

Archer and Lanas voices for Nightwing and Huntress.... Why do I love this so much.

C1nders-Two

Jason Todd sounds like Zach Callison

WeaponizedAutism_yee

Tim Drake has the voice of Malcom from Malcolm In The Middle for me for some reason.

SadJoetheSchmoe

Gilbert Godfried for the voice for either The Presence, or the One Above All.

gechoman44

I read Tim Drake in Rob Paulsen’s voice for some reason.

HPSpacecraft

I know anyone other than Kevin Conroy for Batman is tantamount to sacrilege, but Jason O'Mara (Justice League: War universe) is what I hear in my head whenever Batman is being portrayed as a bit rougher and more unhinged. Conroy is for stable Batman and Bat-Dad moments. Nightwing is also Will Friedle to me, especially in the current Tom Taylor run. I'm not sure if he's ever actually voiced him, but his Terry McGinnis was _so_ good.

bateen618

For Nightwing I use Neil Patrick Harris. Mostly because of Under The Red Hood

MagusFool

My comics head-voices include: Matt Berry as Mister Sinister Jeffrey Combs as The Creeper Kate Mulgrew as Carol Danvers Jennifer Jason Leigh as Lois Lane John Wayne as Captain America Jonathan Frakes as Maxwell Lord Brent Spiner as Xemnu the Living Hulk Deforest Kelly as Jay Garrick Nana Visitor as The Wasp Can you tell I watch a lot of Star Trek, lol?

King_Of_BlackMarsh

I use a Spanish voice for the Atom and a French voice for the Belmonts because I think they fit the vibes of the characters (and the Belmonts at least are distantly French) Meanwhile for the green lantern I use my own voice when he's in his Alan guise and a deep, booming narrator voice when he's in GL guise

Cole-Spudmoney

Midnighter sounds like Michael Wincott.

ChampionshipDeep937

Neil Patrick Harris for Dick Grayson
