Racism unfortunately exists everywhere, but I've never seen/heard public opinions towards Sudanese here in Egypt, like most people are netural so I think what happened to your mom was just an individual act and I'm really sorry for it
My family were forced to leave their homes due to the unfortunate situation in Khartoum and relocated to Cairo. For the most part, I can say that the Egyptians are lovely people and we have not experienced racism.
We did notice that since we do not speak Arabic in the Egyptian dialect vendors/shops tend to try to rip us off and increase prices of everything but in retrospect that's not the worst thing in the world if you can live in safety.
I would have to agree, this looks like an isolated incident and I do not think it would be fair to paint all Egyptians as racist. We're grateful that the Egyptians are a welcoming people.
I hope things in Sudan settle down soon so we can return back to our normal lives inshaaAllah

Most Egyptians hardly see any foreigners at all especially darker skinned people. Their reactions are always poor because of decades of casual racism in media, poor standards in education and general non inclusive society outlook. However, people some people have a soft spot for the Sudanese. Try to talk to them in Arabic, tell them you are Sudanese ibn/bent el nil and that might break the ice. But try to avoid people who are openly hostile.
If it makes you feel any better, those people are probably hostile even to native Egyptian who they don't like.
a lot since a very close relative is from there, them being made fun off due to there skin color is very rare in my experience however we do make fun of their dialect a lot cuz its funny to tease them abt it
Sundanese and Egyptians are the same , we'll always love each other , and we'll always pray for Sudan to get better And to get rid of those assholes who are fighting for the chair .

firstly im sorry u had to go through that but i genuinely think this is just related to the horrible individual and that for the most part racism doesnt exist, i dont live in egypt so i dont really know what people generally think but i can speak on behalf of myself and my family and say that we all were more than happy when sudanese people had to go to egypt

I'm going to respond to this and say that it is not true. My family that has relocated to Cairo has never taken a single pound from the Egyptian government. I live in the United States and have been fully supporting them from day 1. A good percentage of the Sudanese from Khartoum have relatives abroad that are supporting them.
Ethiopia is not our enemy and will never be our enemy. Sudanese are still allowed to go to Ethiopia. Egypt is not our enemy and never will be one either. There are social, cultural linkages between our neighbors that we respect. We differ in the way we approach issues politically and we can always agree to disagree

I understand what you are saying about subsidies and I empathize with the economic struggle you are witnessing. This same problem happened to Sudan a few years ago. Our government was subsidizing electricity, bread, and fuel just like Egypt is today. The problem with Sudan is that after South Sudan split we no longer had the oil money and budget to subsidize all of these things and eventually had to remove the subsidies and float everything to its market prices. Every citizen was affected a great deal by this.
The issue of subsidies in Egypt is not an issue you can simply blame the Sudanese people for, this is a wider economic discussion that involves overall Egypt's budget, debt and policy and I hope that the situation stabilizes for you soon.
You go to our universities for the friction of the foreigners price , to get treated in our hospitals for free , it doesn't have to be cash
And when support our enemy against our very basic right what does this makes you
Adding to this the increased rents in a time if economical instability as we have now
We are being too generous

I live in New Cairo, and I have had Sudanese neighbours since forever. Yes, even before war started. He's a gentleman who runs businesses between Cairo & Khartoum and has a big family. He has always beeb living here mainly, with kids going to Egyptian schools and all that.
Another Sudanese family moved in during the war too.
They are fine human beings and they are humble and polite and quite thoughtful.
I never felt other arab people are foreigners in Egypt to be fair. The place where I live is very cosmopolitan and full of expats. Foreign people are the ones from Europe or the US.

انا للاسف شفت الكلام دا بعيني من تعليقات وفيديوهات سودانية عالفيس وتويتر زي تويتة واحدة سودانية كانت عملاها وبتقول انها تشجع اسرائيل ولا انها تشجع مصر ويوم م جات الأزمة راحت تلجأ فمصر كل الحجات دي والكلام دا وصلنا وشوفناه بعيننا ويمكن عشان كدة العلاقة اتزعزعت شوية وأكيد القاعدة لا تعم فيه اكيد سودانيين بيحبونا وميعرفوش حاجة من الكلام دا حتي زي حضرتك كدة

firstly im sorry u had to go through that but i genuinely think this is just related to the horrible individual and that for the most part racism doesnt exist, i dont live in egypt so i dont really know what people generally think but i can speak on behalf of myself and my family and say that we all were more than happy when sudanese people had to go to egypt

I'm going to respond to this and say that it is not true. My family that has relocated to Cairo has never taken a single pound from the Egyptian government. I live in the United States and have been fully supporting them from day 1. A good percentage of the Sudanese from Khartoum have relatives abroad that are supporting them. Ethiopia is not our enemy and will never be our enemy. Sudanese are still allowed to go to Ethiopia. Egypt is not our enemy and never will be one either. There are social, cultural linkages between our neighbors that we respect. We differ in the way we approach issues politically and we can always agree to disagree

I understand what you are saying about subsidies and I empathize with the economic struggle you are witnessing. This same problem happened to Sudan a few years ago. Our government was subsidizing electricity, bread, and fuel just like Egypt is today. The problem with Sudan is that after South Sudan split we no longer had the oil money and budget to subsidize all of these things and eventually had to remove the subsidies and float everything to its market prices. Every citizen was affected a great deal by this. The issue of subsidies in Egypt is not an issue you can simply blame the Sudanese people for, this is a wider economic discussion that involves overall Egypt's budget, debt and policy and I hope that the situation stabilizes for you soon.
You go to our universities for the friction of the foreigners price , to get treated in our hospitals for free , it doesn't have to be cash And when support our enemy against our very basic right what does this makes you Adding to this the increased rents in a time if economical instability as we have now We are being too generous
I'm so sorry they went through that. There's no excuse, racism is a disease. I personally have absolutely nothing against Sudanese people, I think Sudanese people are pretty chill. Hope yall feel the same about us :)

i never met an egyptian who talked badly or been a racist towards sudanese people, however theres a few exceptions who if i ever saw ill fight w them.

I love Sudanese people so much by the way. Very friendly and have a bright smile each time I see one
I live in New Cairo, and I have had Sudanese neighbours since forever. Yes, even before war started. He's a gentleman who runs businesses between Cairo & Khartoum and has a big family. He has always beeb living here mainly, with kids going to Egyptian schools and all that. Another Sudanese family moved in during the war too. They are fine human beings and they are humble and polite and quite thoughtful. I never felt other arab people are foreigners in Egypt to be fair. The place where I live is very cosmopolitan and full of expats. Foreign people are the ones from Europe or the US.
She is a bitch.. I am Egyptian and I admire Sudanese people… and they are most welcomed and appreciated here in Egypt
