He's known to OG ff7 players as a very, very important being, and the final key to unlocking the single most broken overpowered 'press button and win' cheat code of an ability in all FF's.
In final fantasy 1-5, I'm pretty sure goblins are always the first guys you fight on world map.
7 obviously didn't use goblins because it was a modern setting and they were attacking a reactor with robots.
But ironically enough, This here [Goblin](https://finalfantasy.fandom.com/wiki/Goblin_(Final_Fantasy_VII))
may actually be the single last random monster many FF7 players encounter on the world map. He can only be found on [Goblin Island](https://finalfantasy.fandom.com/wiki/Goblin_Island) which you need the *Highwind* to get to, and he's the only source of Zeio nuts in the game.
Zeio nuts are mandatory in the final step to >!breed a golden chocobo. Gold chocobos are mandatory for Knights of the Round materia.!<
Kinda nostalgic thinking about all the hours I spent screwing up the breeding process and having to steal more zeio nuts from this guy then randomly learning enemy skill goblin punch from him. Blew my mind that Square would feature him, remembering his value to us.
Oh man this takes me back. I’d completely forgotten this step in getting KOTR. What I remember was the pain of grinding AP to master materia and set up W-summon, KOTR, mime and counter for fighting ruby weapon on PS1. I’ve no idea how many hours I sank into this game back in the day…
I actually think I might have put more time into FFVIII with my min-max run, escaping every battle to end game junction all the GFs and relentlessly kill adamantoise to stat max my characters.
A metric shiteton of stuff players complain about were taken directly from OG. The minigames + the fact the game has a massive world map and is probably the biggest RPG on consoles, for example.
I wish Mt condors minigame was more like the OG with a huge series of lanes and traditional tower defense vs the 1v1 2 lane tower defense on a super small scale.
Thats about my only complaint about the remakes. I loved the OG Mt condor minigame. It just needed to be a bit faster.
Agreed, that was my only letdown so far really. But at least we aren't shelling out gil anymore lol!
I quite enjoy the mini games, QB really gets me thinking, I love it
I read an article a few days ago about Rebirth being ‘bloated’ with mini-games and was like, “have you even played OG FFVII?” The original was all about the random mini-games. Remember the snowboarding?
Idk, Costa Del Sol didn’t need *two rounds* of forced mini-games imo. That was the most egregious part of "too many mini-games" for me.
People act like there’s a game every 5 minutes in the OG but they were fairly well spread out and pretty short, especially if you know what you’re doing.
I agree, it’s wild.
I think the people (who clearly are enjoying the game but) constantly negatively post about how difficult it’s gonna be to platinum are the goofiest folks on the planet.
Same thing for the “unskippable minigame” crew. The only things not skippable are the bum-easy tutorials. After that, they just don’t *want* to skip it.
Gotta get that high score. Either that’s a personal compulsion or we have to admit these “horrible” minigames are pretty addicting…
It blew my mind when I saw he is famous and has a holoshow in gold saucer, then he pops up and I was like
Holy hell I don't gotta go to gobbo Island for KID G
> Zeio nuts are mandatory in the final step to breed a golden chocobo. Gold chocobos are mandatory for Knights of the Round materia.
I think that was the case originally up until someone found an easier, and more consistent, way to breed a golden chocobo by effectively doing a series of arbitrary steps to manipulate the breed seed.
I know there's a YT video on it too that I used.
>Zeio nuts are mandatory in the final step to >!breed a golden chocobo. Gold chocobos are mandatory for Knights of the Round materia.!<
is this some kind of >!chocobo breeding!< joke I'm to >!ruby weapon defeating!< to understand?
Yes... but trying to beat ruby without knights is super hard mode. And once you've beaten ruby, you don't really need a gold chocobo anymore. Also the gold you get from ruby has terrible stats so it's not useful for racing or making more golds due to its awful stats.
The first yellow chocobo you get for the breeding chain typically is a better racer than ruby's gold.
They're translated as dazers in the original version. You can get them from stealing/morphing boundfats in corel valley
[https://www.cavesofnarshe.com/ff7/w\_item.php?item=Dazers](https://www.cavesofnarshe.com/ff7/w_item.php?item=Dazers)
If you're lazy, you can also use the W-item materia to duplicate them to 99
One playthrough i skipped the breeding process. You Can kill the underwater weapon pretty easy, i did it as a kid without the underwater materia or Lucky 7s, and then traded with old man in kalm for master materias .... then use Master Summon for KOTR to kill Ruby for the Gold Chocobo
I didn't even notice and I finished my second playthrough of the og last month! I really should pay attention to those blocky old monster designs lol...wow. This is a cool deep cut from Square.
It's exactly how the goblins look in FF7 - except the earrings

That's Kid-G. If you paid attention at Gold Saucer you'd get a bit of the back story they'd given him. And he's made to look recognizable to his original appearance in FF7 for PS1.
Same reason Cloud has needlessly puffy pants. Style choices baby.
> If you paid attention at Gold Saucer you'd get a bit of the back story they'd given him.
What was the backstory given? I know he tells us that he's the protector but was there a backstory given in Gold Saucer?
Hes a famous fighter and kids entertainer with a section in I believe wonderment square that has a hologram of him with kid g posters and kids calling out catch phrases
Feels like he should've had a few platform games in the 90's to try and rival Sonic.
But for real, that is an incredibly elusive enemy from the OG. Love that they are just keeping most of the weird enemy designs
Back in the day there were rumors that this guy was initially conceived as a potential party member for the game. From what I recall there was a bit of validity to the theory as well.
That's exactly it. The average player of FFVII didn't get Knights of the Round. So saying "did you even play the original" like the Goblin is an iconic element that should be immediately recognised is very silly. I'll eat the downvotes for pointing it out.
He is literally the perfect rendition of the original goblin in current graphics. Damn, y'all complain when they change shit and y'all complain when they keep it damn near identical. WTF is this post lol
Isn’t that a goblin from Goblin Island where you need to get the special nuts to breed golden chocobos? It looks like it right down to the the boxing gloves. \*lol\*
There’s a famous tweet that’s like “if me and my friends found ET in the woods we would have killed him with hammers, I’ll tell you that much”
And that’s what I thought of when I first saw him
I completely forgot that 7 Goblins looked like this. I think I got way too used to the 14 ones that have Gasmasks on.
But also not the most out-there goblin in the series, 13's have like a hole in their middle and are on wheels if I remember right.
I don't know why I clicked on a spoiler link; I haven't finished the game yet. Would have been my fault if I got spoiled. BUT, I actually came across this guy last night! As others have already said, he's from Goblin Island in OG and had the zeio nut. IMHO, still seemed kind of out of place with modern graphics though but then again I like that he was included in some capacity. It is really cool that they're trying to incorporate even the more zany enemy designs (Even Hell House).
My 4-year-old has not really cared about this game at all outside like the chocobo parts and the parts where Red is on the screen but all the cutscenes with this guy, she was glued to the screen. It was hilarious. Guess if we lived in Rebirth's world, I would have to take her to Golden Saucer so she could see the little hologram lol.
Don’t ever underestimate ***that*** lol. You’ll as surprised as me when you see what I mean LOL. He’s an endgame boss, and for the most part, all endgame bosses are broken
Dobby is a free elf! Dobby now beats up people for money! Dobby is happy elf! Dobby even killed the one who gave Dobby a sock. Dobby knows better than to trust humans now. Dobby… like blood now.

99:99:99 lol
I actually think I might have put more time into FFVIII with my min-max run, escaping every battle to end game junction all the GFs and relentlessly kill adamantoise to stat max my characters.
Yep this. Dude has an entire island named goblin island in the OG wild stuff
A metric shiteton of stuff players complain about were taken directly from OG. The minigames + the fact the game has a massive world map and is probably the biggest RPG on consoles, for example.

I agree. Actually liked it more in remake just the fact you had fully customizable deck alone
Agreed, that was my only letdown so far really. But at least we aren't shelling out gil anymore lol! I quite enjoy the mini games, QB really gets me thinking, I love it

That’s fair. I wasn’t a huge fan of the animal rocket league BS.
I agree, it’s wild. I think the people (who clearly are enjoying the game but) constantly negatively post about how difficult it’s gonna be to platinum are the goofiest folks on the planet. I don’t ever want this game to end. I will take endless mini games. Until part 3 is ready at least.
It blew my mind when I saw he is famous and has a holoshow in gold saucer, then he pops up and I was like Holy hell I don't gotta go to gobbo Island for KID G

The key is inbreeding.
this game is amazing with its throwbacks
>Zeio nuts are mandatory in the final step to >!breed a golden chocobo. Gold chocobos are mandatory for Knights of the Round materia.!< is this some kind of >!chocobo breeding!< joke I'm to >!ruby weapon defeating!< to understand?

I used the cactuar needles to keep ruby stunned for the entire fight. If you have enough of them, it makes ruby a complete joke
Where were you 20 yrs ago when I was 10?
They're translated as dazers in the original version. Hiding in my room from the neighborhood bullies, playing FFVII
I love how there's so many different ways to break that game.

Super nostalgic! I actually just visited goblin Island two weeks ago on my Miyoo playthrough. Seeing this guy hit me hard in the feelers
It's exactly how the goblins look in FF7 - except the earrings https://preview.redd.it/jai3zkaw7anc1.png?width=244&format=png&auto=webp&s=343911a27b4d8980e30b851cd377d8d137270f8f
He does have an earring, though
only one or both?
His glove is covering the other ear, so can't see 😅
Damn sneaky goblin
I see the earring
I was glad they didn't give him the full carrot nose treatment.
I still see an earing on this roblox looking character. So it's pretty accurate to the original
I said earrings
Ah gotcha plural.
That's Kid-G. If you paid attention at Gold Saucer you'd get a bit of the back story they'd given him. And he's made to look recognizable to his original appearance in FF7 for PS1. Same reason Cloud has needlessly puffy pants. Style choices baby.
Cloud is hiding his absolute chicken leg physique. Bro felt self conscious about that beach for a reason.
Thank you, this headcannon will make a fine addition to my collection
> If you paid attention at Gold Saucer you'd get a bit of the back story they'd given him. What was the backstory given? I know he tells us that he's the protector but was there a backstory given in Gold Saucer?
Hes a famous fighter and kids entertainer with a section in I believe wonderment square that has a hologram of him with kid g posters and kids calling out catch phrases
Speed square I think, I remember it being beside the Iron Ma- I mean Buzz Light- I mean "Space Ranger" hologram.
Yeeeea the totally not iron patriot guy telling you how to play 3d galaga
Go to event square and theres a little hologram area with lots of people that tells his story
Feels like he should've had a few platform games in the 90's to try and rival Sonic. But for real, that is an incredibly elusive enemy from the OG. Love that they are just keeping most of the weird enemy designs
That is how the original goblin looked in FF7, obviously, he wasn't some weirdo talking but simply an enemy to fight.
Quickly steal the nuts from this fucker!!!
Leave his nuts alone, he’s the last goblin
It’s a goblin what’s your problem dude
Right? They’ve been in the series since the first random encounter of the very first game.
There are talking dogs with fire tails, magic board games, cacti with sentience, and you're worri3d about a goblin? Lolol
I unironically screamed from happiness when I saw him
Same
He looks like he raps about fentanyl….uhhh I mean Mako Poisoning
Funny thing is he does remind me of PaRappa
This is where I watched my parents die, Kid G. This is where you watched your parents die, Tifa.
oops oops
Username checks out
Walked straight out of the 90’s
https://preview.redd.it/db325j2b1dnc1.jpeg?width=1105&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c0acb81d16b7954aa5e7028ed705addeb6a6a634 Looks pretty spot on
Dobby went on to pursue a career in boxing after the events of Harry Potter, did you not know this?
Back in the day there were rumors that this guy was initially conceived as a potential party member for the game. From what I recall there was a bit of validity to the theory as well.
His eyes make it look like he’s been taking too much spice lol
Did you even play the original game
Zoniz says completely ignoring the fact that Goblins only appear in one very specific spot on the world map and are easily missed.
Yea but that island was necessary for kotr
The vast majority of FFVII players would not have got this summon, it was essentially impossible without a guide
That's exactly it. The average player of FFVII didn't get Knights of the Round. So saying "did you even play the original" like the Goblin is an iconic element that should be immediately recognised is very silly. I'll eat the downvotes for pointing it out.
The chocobo sage does technically give you all the info you need to breed one, but getting it out of him is.. yeah.
The chocobo sage better be more forthcoming with info when he shows up, im betting in game 3 of remake
Have you gotten to chapter 11 yet?
No finishing up one mission before Cid,
Fair
Almost identical to the OG and I LOVE it.
He is literally the perfect rendition of the original goblin in current graphics. Damn, y'all complain when they change shit and y'all complain when they keep it damn near identical. WTF is this post lol
That's a cactuar. Menacing little buggers.
L post
Isn’t that a goblin from Goblin Island where you need to get the special nuts to breed golden chocobos? It looks like it right down to the the boxing gloves. \*lol\*
It's clearly a Disney harry potter crossover. Dobby had sex with pinocchio 🤥 On a serious note, this is how they looked in original.
I don’t see the issue, I thought it was awesome
If you are asking this question, OC you are too young
I like it. And i have never seen og.
He’s a kung-fu hippy from Corel City …
Kid G is the man
It's a goblin. A version of them in ever FF installment. *Shrug*
There’s a famous tweet that’s like “if me and my friends found ET in the woods we would have killed him with hammers, I’ll tell you that much” And that’s what I thought of when I first saw him
His stature and voice reminds me a lot of Sonic. I thought he was cool.
All my homies love Kid G
He's not an abomination. He's a cool Gob-bro just chillin'
I completely forgot that 7 Goblins looked like this. I think I got way too used to the 14 ones that have Gasmasks on. But also not the most out-there goblin in the series, 13's have like a hole in their middle and are on wheels if I remember right.

I thought you were referring to the garbage combat system until I clicked on the post 😅
Looks like someone gave Dobie some clothes.
Am I crazy or wasn’t there some cut content from the original game where this was supposed to be a party member????
WHY IS TIFA'S THEME PLAYING WHEN HE SHOWS UP
It's DOBBY!
Don’t ever underestimate ***that*** lol. You’ll as surprised as me when you see what I mean LOL. He’s an endgame boss, and for the most part, all endgame bosses are broken
Haven't finished the questline yet since it cuts you off halfway. But I've learned to NEVER underestimate anything that can have Goblin Punch.
Right? 😂. I made the mistake in underestimating him and he was One Shotting my teammates LOLOL
Dobby is a free elf! Dobby now beats up people for money! Dobby is happy elf! Dobby even killed the one who gave Dobby a sock. Dobby knows better than to trust humans now. Dobby… like blood now.
It's a thing in the OG too, but the design is fucking atrocious lol.
This is what happens when Nomura tries to draw a goblin
He's very Pinocchio and ugly 😂 I couldn't wait to get away from him
