Maturity means knowing that you can like whatever you like and proceed accordingly. :)

Possumcucumber

I’m 52 and live by the beach in Australia. I have a mix of stuff depending on mood/vibe.  I tend to wear more standard perfumey fragrances for work  - currently that’s YSL Libre, Marc Jacobs Perfect, and Baccarat Rouge. I like something unchallenging with staying power for a work day.  Going out at night: Lost Cherry or Black Orchid both Tom Ford. I also have an old bottle of Tom Ford Orchid Soleil which my husband loves but is discontinued and almost gone. I like heady intense fragrances for night but will wear them in the day if the mood takes me! Elevated everyday(eg nice lunch with husband, shopping, hanging out with friends ): Byredo Bal D’afrique, Juliette has a Gun Sunny Side Up, Tom Ford Soleil Blanc.  Casual everyday (eg gym, supermarket): Diptyque Philosykos, Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh, Byredo Pulp.  I like citruses and less sweet fruity fragrances for this.  I don’t personally like the super sweet cake and candy gourmands but I don’t think you can age out of them - it’s either your vibe or it’s not no matter your age!

tomarraw

54 next month, in SoCal, newish to truly enjoying fragrances now, and I pretty much only wear super gourmands🤗 i decided that imonna like what I like at this stage in my life...and enjoy w/o reservations!

GMichaelFAN71

I'm in my fifties, live in California and I have all kinds of scent styles, vintage, modern, niche, designer, celebrity. I wear whatever smells good to me, but I work from home so it's easy for me to wear just about anything I want when I'm primarily at home. Yesterday I wore a Sol De Janeiro body mist, today I wore an "inspired by" Lira scent, and I also wore Amarige earlier this week, so I'm all over the place really. My point being: I don't take my age into account when buying or wearing perfumes.

StreetMolasses6093

55 in Arizona. I love perfume so much, and I wear whatever makes my husband growl at me or whatever I find comforting and can’t stop smelling on my wrist. I love to layer, and I’m always testing out combinations. It’s so fun!

ChristineBorus

Wear whatever you like! (I’m 50 this year) That being said my top 5 for hot weather are (in no particular order) : 1) Chanel Chance eau Tendre EDT 2) Hermès Un Jardin Sur le Nil 3) Killian’s Love Don’t Be Shy (Intense) / Parfum De Marly Oriana is very similar 4) Elizabeth Arden White Tea (EDT & EDP) 5) Prada Candy Kiss I also own Chanel No. 5, Chanel No.5 L’eau, Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille, BR540, D&G Light Blue, EA Green Tea (MFK shares a creator), Pleasures, Al Rehab Choco Musk Some of the above are gourmands. Wear whatever you like!!!

Greenisthecolor24

I'm 42 and from NJ. I wear whatever I like. My favorites are Mon guerlain, santal Complet,Scarlet Burberry Goddess, and Cassili. I love Gentle Fluidity Gold, but I also love Bath and body works mists to layer! I wear my scents for me, and sometimes my husband!

Smooth_Chemistry_276

I don’t wear anything that smells too synthetic or cheaply made- I’m too old to not have quality perfume, otherwise I wear whatever I like! (Just about 40 if that counts)

Only_Awareness7794

Early 70's here...& I wear whatever I feel like wearing on any given day! Scent doesn't any gender or age limits attached to it, so be happy & wear what ever makes you smile! :)

katpeny

Definitely wear what you want. I think past perfumes get labeled as mature but actually many of these perfumes were worn by younger women of the time and became favorites worn as signature scents for decades. The next generation now correlates these fragrance profiles with parents or grandparents. Younger generations forget older generations were young too once. I have changed what fragrances I wear due to moving to a very hot climate in the south from an extreme cold climate and my profession I prefer less projection. My most worn scents for hot weather are from Jo Malone. I also wear Ormonde Jane Levant, Blanch Bete, Atelier Clementine California, Malin Goetz Strawberry, Burberry Sheer. For cooler months I wear my Byredo Gypsy Water, Tokyo Milk Star Crossed, Commodity Gold, and Chanel Mademoiselle. As far as gourmand scents a few of my scents have a layer of gourmand but not overtly gourmand except Commodity Gold. I would love to add a cherry scent. I’ve been using a decant of Tom Ford Electric Cherry and on the wishlist.

EmergencyCandle

I’m 47 and I have a little of everything in my collection (except super-fruity scents; they’re just not my thing). I like some gourmands, some woody scents, musks and patchoulis, green scents and floral scents, depending on the season and mood

SweatyAd3177

I’m 46 and wear whatever I like. I just bought Cassiopea by Tiziana Tirenzi but have not received it yet. My favorite this summer so far has been Leisure in Paradise!! It’s so good for summer! I also just bought Greenwich Village and it might by my top two of all time. It’s a great watery fresh fruity floral. It’s different than anything I have in my collection. My very very favorite of all time for all seasons is MFK’s Gentle Fluidity Gold. It’s stunning and I can never get tired of it. I also just bought Roses Vanille by Mancera but have put it on hold until the fall/winter. It’s a beautiful rich fragrance that is very strong so would need to spray sparingly.

Sophiatopia

I just bought MFK’s Gentle Fluidity Gold and I love, but it fades so fast. I wonder if it needs to macerate

SweatyAd3177

Mine lasts all day. I still get wafts of it on my clothes at night.

Sophiatopia

Good to know. I'm going to let it sit for a bit.

BuzzBabe69

Anything that has Civet in it!

Kapitalgal

Scent sister! 🥰

NatK71

53. Wear whatever you want, whenever you want. Fragrance is meant to make you happy, first and foremost. 😊

Prestigious-Salad795

55, PA. I wear what I like

BeeLuv

Big Dipper “Serenity” I haven’t had a signature perfume in at least 10 years. I’ve been trying various popular ones lately, and my skin chemistry turns them all to an almost identical fragrance to Costco shampoo. All of them. I had this issue before, but only with really cheap “fake” perfumes so I always bought well-regarded ones. But now it’s everything. So I’m sticking with my tired but reliable essential oils. They don’t change on me, at least.

meldooy32

Haha, I like that analogy about smelling like shampoo. I’ve ventured over to the niche fragrances and like them because many are unlike anything in the designer lane

BeeLuv

I think when I get done sulking I will order some samples from Olympic Orchids. I’m mid-sulk, so that might be a while…

Outrageous-Wish8659

I experience fragrance as a mood or a memory. For example, the smell of orange blossom takes me back to childhood living in Florida. Wear what you like!

CatchGlum2474

I’m 57 and gourmands got me interested in fragrance all over again. Started with Cherry Punk and traveled all over the dessert platter from there. Don’t let anybody tell you what to wear.

LuminousApsana

Midwest, 51. Wear whatever you like. You are the one who experiences your fragrance the most. Anyone who would judge you as being too old...why would you care? Don't give your personal power away.

candyparfumgirl

I’m 47 and I love a range. Most of what I wear is on the “mature” side (I’m a vintage Guerlain junkie), but I love simpler sweet perfumes as well: Prada Candy, Pink Sugar, Bonbon. I live in a region with 4 seasons. Wear what you want (life is too short for perfume that you find boring).

EqualAdvertising3231

No. Also over 40

Logical_Sprinkles_21

I'm 47, I live in the Midwest, and if I like it I wear it. To my mind, age and gender in perfumes is just another marketing ploy. I wore Givenchy Pi as a signature scent for several years.

meldooy32

Agreed, I like unisex fragrances as well. Thanks for the feedback.

Rude_Vermicelli2268

I love unisex fragrances and even “traditionally” male fragrances. Armani’s Stronger with you Intensely and Mancera’s Aoud Lemon mint are 2 fragrances marketed to men that have netted me a ton of compliments.

Queen_Of_InnisLear

I just wear whatever I like. I sample a ton (it's its own hobby really) and pick out whatever makes me happy. I'm big on ocean scents (frssfb cold coastal oceans not "beachy"), green scents like vetiver, herbs, evergreens. Fresh florals, sparkly fruits, even a gourmand now and then. Whatever strikes my fancy.

meldooy32

Thanks for sharing. What are your favorite ‘green’ scents? I purchased HOS Holiday, which is reminiscent of a pine. Still adjusting to the smell. As of now, I only like to wear it in winter

Rude_Vermicelli2268

I am over 50 and while I do like woody, spicy and oudy scents, I also like gourmands. Bianco Latte, Commodity Milk+, La Capitale and Italica are some of my favorite fragrances. I wear fragrance for myself and I wear what I enjoy. The only thing I have aged out of is body mists and EDTs. I don’t have time to reapply scents throughout the day

StreetMolasses6093

Agree that body mists and EDTs just don’t do it for me anymore. I want something that sticks around.

Rude_Vermicelli2268

Diptyque and Jo Malone exit the gc.

meldooy32

Completely agree about the re-application inconvenience. Thanks for the feedback

M_issa_

I’m late 40’s My faves are Scarlet Poppy, A Drop d’Issy and Narciso Rodriguez Pure Musc. Others I wear often Narciso Rodriguez for her EDT and EDP, MFK Grand Soir and A La Rose, BDK Gris Charnel, Nest Indigo, Club de Nuit Woman and a dupe oil of Myrrh & Tonka that I prefer to the real one

meldooy32

All of these are beautiful fragrances. I haven’t smelled Pure Musc yet; need to get my nose on it. Thanks for sharing

maybeshesastar

My mom still wears pink sugar, I love her for it lol. But she really enjoys Tresor and Tresor La Nuit from Lancôme.

meldooy32

I haven’t tried Tresor. It’s on my bucket list

fificloudgazer

I get something bitter from tresor now , never did with the old formulation so I recommend not blind buying

NoSpaghettiForYouu

I just wear whatever I want tbh. I was more concerned with appearing “sophisticated” or gown up when I was in my 20s and now my only concession to maturity is maybe not overspraying because that feels rude 😅😅 Edit: if anything I feel florals are more “youthful” than gourmands?! What’s more mature than smelling like grandma’s house on baking day.

meldooy32

I purchased Bond No. 9 Astor Place, which is very floral. Unfortunately, it reminds me of my Grandmother at church on Sunday morning. I don’t mean that offensively, as it is very nostalgic. Thanks for sharing

throwawaylol666666

I’m 44 and I wear whatever I want, even stuff that other people refer to as “juvenile.” I love me some gourmands for sure, especially pistachio scents. ETA: I missed the second part of your question! I live in Los Angeles.

meldooy32

Is Kayali’s Pistachio nice to you? I have that one, but no other pistachio fragrances.

throwawaylol666666

I have a travel sized bottle of that one. It’s nice, but it’s a bit powdery. One of my favorites is Pistaché Pistachio Biscotti.

SweatyAd3177

I love Kayali’s Yum Pistachio for work layered with JHAG’s Lust for Sun. I get compliments all the time but it’s light enough for the hospital setting.

Gladys_Glynnis

Sameeee.

GlitteringGoose1

The best part about being older and wearing fragrances? You can buy whatever you want. You can spend an afternoon at Neiman Marcus and pick something pretty and bougie, or go to Marshall's and get a sweet deal. You can wear what you like and not rely on anyone else to get it. Use your power! ✨️💖

meldooy32

Thank you! I’m a novice frag head. I don’t think we have a Neiman Marcus in my area, but I will look into it 🥰

GlitteringGoose1

Yay! It is my favorite place to shop, the associates are super helpful ❤️

TheConcreteGhost

As long as it doesn’t smell like baked goods or candy, I’m game for anything. Sometimes I can go months without repeating a scent. Just as long as it isn’t too stifling . It’s hot in the South (US).

FrutyPebbles321

I don’t think any fragrance should have “age limits”! Wear what you love and if someone doesn’t like it, so what?!?!

meldooy32

Thank you!♥️ 👍🏾

OGBurn2

Beauty of getting older? Fewer fucks to give 😂 I’m a vanilla gourmand girlie and about to turn 45 (literally how😃🫠😩) Wear what you want sis!! Faves (I live in Baltimore) Guerlain SDV Guerlain Mon Guerlain Diptyque Eau Duelle YSL Babycat Blanche Bete Bianco Latte Pink Sugar Akro Bake Kilian LDBS Kilian Angels Share PDM Delina Exclusif PDM Oriana

meldooy32

I have most of these. Thanks for the confirmation ☺️

PhoneJazz

I’m 42 years old and I love and wear Sol de Janeiro with no fucks to give 😂 And Kayali Pistachio, and Burberry Her and Goddess. I’ve loved vanilla since the Vanilla Fields drugstore days of the 90s 🤷🏻‍♀️

meldooy32

I love these! I have a bias for vanilla fragrances as well. Which Sol de Janeiro fragrance do you wear?

PhoneJazz

The yellow one- 62!

Miss-Figgy

>I wonder if I’m a bit too mature for the gourmands. I'm a 40-something in NYC, and I wear gourmands when it's cool/cold. Why do you think you are "too mature" for it?

meldooy32

From chatting with my daughter and nieces. Some of the off the cuff remarks they have said about smelling sweet ‘like a kid’.

PaulineMermaid

Sorry to sound harsh, but kids are stupid by nature, and always try to mock older people, in order to feel "better" Laugh at them. It's what they deserve.

Realistic_Salt_389

This absolutely sent me. 😂 (Because, yes, kids are idiots and they all think they’ve figured everything out.)

gianduja5

Don’t take these nonsensical comments seriously. There are always people worrying that their favorites are too young or too mature, or men worry if the perfume they like is too feminine etc. - really just want to assure you that you can enjoy your perfumes as you wish without fearing other people’s commentary. Because they will always have something to say 🤷🏻‍♀️. Wear your gourmand perfumes for as long as you’re interested in them. I’m not quitting my preferred perfume categories no matter what social media says. For example, I’ve heard people who think they’re very in the know (because they spend 23.7 hours on TikTok) tell me Chanel Coco Mademoiselle isn’t ‘in’. And I don’t care, I love it 🤗

PhoneJazz

With all due respect since they’re your family, don’t give any credence to what a bunch of immature Gen Z’ers say. You have more wisdom, and you’ve earned the right to wear what you want.

Miss-Figgy

Why do you care what people much younger than you have to say, lol? To many of them, everything is either "ew, old lady!" or very girly, so you can't win either way with them. I personally wear whatever I want.

meldooy32

I don’t think they meant it maliciously, since they are sweet young ladies. I just wanted to get the opinion of other women ☺️

Friendly_Jellyfish71

This- if you’re an older woman, you’re either “trying too hard,” or you “let yourself go.” Apparently nothing will do but self immolation at the peak of sexual attractiveness. Please yourself.

Goldenaura123

I'm 40, although in my head I'm still 27. But I do feel more empowered to be my authentic self at this age. My tastes have definitely changed over the last couple years. I used to only wear Flowerbomb but now I never reach for it. It feels too sweet/too simple. I want to pick up another guerlain frag on my next trip to Nordstrom. I've also been ordering samples from indie perfume makers and that's been really fun. + Mon Guerlain +Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Mandarrine Basilic +Oribe Cote d'azur + Commodity Gold + Commodity Milk +Burberry Goddess + Maison Louis Marie No. 4 +Nemat oils: vanilla musk, Egyptian musk, lavender. I ordered every sample from their website. I find them to be subtle and fun to layer. Even the scents I don't especially like are not offensive. +VS Heavenly and Very Sexy: been wearing these since college and I still love them. PS. I'm from Florida but recently moved to the PNW.

meldooy32

My daughter wears Flowerbomb and it smells lovely on her. Mon Guerlain was my signature scent for a couple of years. Before that, it was Coco Mademoiselle. I haven’t tried Commodity. I’ll look into that one.

Goldenaura123

Flowerbomb is lovely, I wish I smelled more of the patchouli on myself though. I might try layering it so the bottle doesn't go to waste. Commodity really surprised me. I did not like Milk + when I first got the sample. It smelled plasticky. Then I blind bought Gold because I found a 30mL for $25 on ipsy. My husband loved it and he doesn't ever comment on my perfumes. I decided to give milk another try and for some reason it smelled amazing.

RecipeQuick4924

>I wonder if I’m a bit too mature for the gourmands. I find many gourmands to be too dense and actually smell more mature. You might enjoy something like Hypnotic Poison. Very sweet vanilla. Unknown pleasures kerosene is a nice gourmand that doesn't smell juvenille Van Exstasyx Lorenzo Pazzaglia is a straight forward vanilla gourmand, lovely Bake Akro smells like a grown gourmand Cherry Amaretto Strangers Parfumerie is a boozy cherry gourmand Drunk Saffron BORNTOSTANDOUT® is also a grown gourmand that doesn't smell youthful But there are definitely more "youthful" smelling gourmands like Viva La Juicy, Pink Sugar, etc. And more "grown" smelling gourmands. Just have to find what works for you.

everythingisluv

I'm 39 and I wear everything. Gourmands are some of my favorites. Scents don't have ages and I'm passed the point of caring what other people think. If I like it, that's all that matters

BrownGirlCSW

The great thing about being grown is that as long as all of your bills are paid and you are generally responsible "who gonna check you boo"? If you like the scent, wear it. But to answer your question- at least over spring/summer: - Mugler Goddess Supra Floral - Bath and Body Works Gingham Glow - Define Me Barbie - Phlur Vanilla Skin - Le Monde Gourmand Lait de Coco - Daükens Arôma Co This ****Is Bananas I wear BBW mists when I'm not going anywhere.

Consistent_Ant_8903

My mum is a Bronze Goddess lady for life, EDP and EDT. I think ladies of any age should be able to wear whatever the hell they want, especially gourmands! Keep smelling good 🙏

Geordieduck87

You're not too old for gourmands, nobody is, but if you like a bit of everything what about Portrait of a Lady? I'm 37 and I love it, so does my mam and she's 63. I still wear all sorts of perfume though, including gourmands. I love Vanilla 28 , Vanilla Royale Sugared Patchouli, Love Don't Be Shy, Delina Exclusif, Lira, Roses Vanille, Angel's Share. I do love a good rose/oud/vanilla/ combo with or without patchouli aswell though, I get loads of compliments wearing Rose D'Arabie and I love Oud Satin Mood. I'm not made of money though so I do buy a lot of samples then buy middle eastern clones or just get them from Perfume Parlour or Eden Perfumes in the UK. They're always spot on.

OGBurn2

Guuuuurl are we scent sisters?

Geordieduck87

Yes! You have good taste. I like a bit of everything really, from old school classics to the super sugary gourmands. The only perfumes I'm not a big fan of are freshies, I'm not keen on citrusy scents unless they have something to sweeten them up. Anything that's labelled as aquatic isn't usually for me.

OGBurn2

Yep. Yep. Yep. I need to feel cozy. Even if it’s 99 degrees😂

IrisInitiative

Fellow midwesterner who has turned 34 more than ten times 😁. I adore gourmands although they can be heavy in the summer. I am enjoying having different styles for my mood and the weather, especially muggy hot days. I prefer niche houses but I am new to collecting. Here are some of my favorites right now: Diptyque Oyedo (yuzu for hot days) Vilhelm Mango Skin and Poets of Berlin Both are also great for warm sunny days. Creamy base, fruit top notes and an elegant vibe overall. I wear these and my clothes feel shabby all of a sudden. Le Monde Gourmand Creme Vanille, Santal Supreme and Pistachio. These are a lot of fun since they are so cheap. Nice gourmands, not to overpowering or childish. Killian Angels Share. Boozy and decadent with megawatt sillage. For date nights. I am over 40 but not dead yet ☺️.

meldooy32

We enjoy the same scent profile😀. I have Mango Skin, Poets of Berlin, and Angels Share as well. I will check out the others you suggested.

IrisInitiative

So cool ☺️. Feel free to suggest others you really like. I am hunting for new things!!

sophiart

I’m in my 40s and in the Midwest and gravitate toward more unisex, niche fragrances, including gourmands. I don’t feel too mature for gourmands in general, but I will say that the ones sort of coded as super feminine gourmands (simple concoctions that are strait fruit or sugar, mainly) just aren’t my style. I prefer darker and complex gourmands, even ones with more savory accords from time to time. Some of my faves: - Arquiste Anima Dulcis - MDCI Les Indes Galantes - BORNTOSTANDOUT Angels’ Powder - The Gate Inside Out - Akro Awake - Strangers Parfumerie Caffeine Honey - Parfum Prissana Tom Yum - Zoologist Harvest Mouse - Masque Milano Lost Alice Many of the houses above have other amazing gourmands as well.

OGBurn2

Angels powder does NOT get enough love. It’s AMAZING!

sophiart

I’m obsessed with it

meldooy32

I haven’t heard of most of these houses. Thanks for sharing!

justtheegotrip

Honestly if you have a gourmand personality then you should wear a gourmand perfume! I feel like I love when a woman in her forties just does what she loves to do. I’m in my twenties and forties is not old! Do your thing

meldooy32

Thanks for the feedback!

Mea_Culpa_74

I‘m turning 50 and my collection has pretty much everything. Also Gourmands.

meldooy32

Yes, I’m thinking my preference keeps changing with time. Now I have a bit of everything, but I’ve read some comments from individuals that gourmands and overly sweet smells exude young woman energy.

Mea_Culpa_74

There are more mature gourmands out there. Besides, sometimes you want to exude a youthful energy.
