I was close to 30% when I started my first real monitored cut. I went super strict and ate exactly 2200 calories (about 5-600 below my maintenance) of all clean food. Zero sugar other then from real fruit or from milk. I just drank a lot of diet sodas to get over any cravings. I went from 227 to 189 in about 4.5 months. I ate the exact same things every day and I weighed and tracked (myfitnesspal) every single thing that I ate or drank that had calories.
In the end I maintained a ton of muscle and actually looked bigger then I did at 227. You can easily do the same, by following roughly the same protocol.
Find your rough TDEE and drop it by 5-600 calories. Get used to weighing everything with a food scale for a while, including oil in the pan. Eat clean food like lean meats (chicken/steak/fish), potatoes, rice, veggies, some fruit, 0% greek yogurt with honey for sweetner, protein bars/shakes if you need them. Dont drink any bad calories like sodas or juices. Doing that would have you losing roughly 2lbs a week or around 8-10lbs a month. Would only take you 4 months like it took me.
