Miraculix?
\[checks Google\]
That's bullshit man, his name is Getafix.
Goddammit, taking drug references out of children's entertainment, is nothing sacred during late stage capitalism?
Getafix is his English name, Panoramix is his French name, and Miraculix is his German name.
And technically, Getafix isn't just a drug reference - the druid is also the medic for the village. He's the guy you go to when you need healing or when you need something fixed. It's a pun that works on two levels, and there are lots of clever wordplay in Asterix.
There's also an Asterix subreddit.
'Get a fix' can also mean to perceive or get a sense of something; "get a fix on my location." So it works on three levels and even sort of ties into his original French name.
[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asterix](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asterix) its Probably older than you and some of the funniest stuff of my childhood.
You should check out Mission Cléopatre. One of the best comedy movies of all time. (In french atleast, no idea how good it is with an english translation)
Don't listen to that heretic, the live action movies are pure shite. Made by people who seem to *hate* the material. You are better off watching cartoon and animated movies or read the awesome comics
There were a bunch of ones. The old ones are super good, but honestly they rely a lot on puns and French cultural references, so I don't know how well that translates when they are ported to other languages. The recent live action movies are kinda trash, tho. And the animated ones are all excellent
Oh boy,
there's 10 animated movies going all the way back to 1967 ranging from good to great to bloody iconic as well as a bunch of live action ones (that aren't worth it)
well tastes and such but the very first live action ones and asterix mission cleopatra are still up there, idk about localizations tho so mileage will vary.
After one piece , Asterix is the most sold comic book in the worlds.
there is 10 animated film, 5 live action film (only one good one) and a netflix animated show in the works anounced like 3 years ago.
This one animated movie came out in 2018 out of freaking nowhere. The script was by Alexandre Astier (writer, producer and actor in Kaamelot, a french sitcom which is a parody of the arthurian legend) and it's honestly really good.
It's called "Asterix and the secret of the magic potion" I believe.
C'est pas faux.
My personal favourite: "Parce que, je sais pas comment vous dire, c’est systématiquement débile, mais c’est toujours inattendu ! Et ça, c’est très important pour la santé du… Du cigare."
The Gauls are the pinnacle of creation. For them, the great struggle is won. They have evolved a society which knows no stress or angst. Who are we to judge them? We Greeks who have failed, or the Romans, on the road to ruin in their turn. And why? Because we sought answers to questions that a Gaul wouldn't even bother to ask! We see a culture that is strong and despise it as crude. - Uthanios The Perverse 1st Century BC Greek Philosopher
Dude how many baguette eaters we got playing Warhammer? You’d think with how British it is they boycott it on principle. That’s the only explanation for why everyone here knows Asterix and Obelix.
Yes, it is the only explanation everyone here knows of it. Everyone knows Asterix and Obelix are only comercialized in France, and actually knowing about Asterix and Obelix without being French is a crime prosecuted by the Interpol
Aussie here: they literally had posters of the old live action movie at rooms in my high school. I had some of the old comics second hand from mg parents. not just the French my guy
After one piece, Asterix is the most sold comic book in the world. I think it also had the most differents languages translations.
a lot of people know it.
I see Asterix, Obelix and Miraculix, I upvote
I wonder why they translated Panoramix's name to Miraculix in english. Panoramix is kind of a pun in english too no?

GOD FUCKING DAMNIT, IT TOOK ME 10 YEARS TO REALIZE THAT GETAFIX IS A PUN
Miraculix? \[checks Google\] That's bullshit man, his name is Getafix. Goddammit, taking drug references out of children's entertainment, is nothing sacred during late stage capitalism?

The names in Asterix are truly hysterical
'Get a fix' can also mean to perceive or get a sense of something; "get a fix on my location." So it works on three levels and even sort of ties into his original French name.
to be honest, in that case the english name is better than the french one
Get-a-fix.
That's correct.
Miraculix is what the druid is called in German
And Danish.
.... it was published in 1978 in English and just about all the names were changed
"Oh yeah, that's the good stuff".
Same here unironically
Miraculix ? 🤨
That's what the druid is called in German
What movie/show is this from?
It's based on a French (I think it's french) comic book series called Asterix and Obelisk. This scene is from a recent film in the franchise.
Yup, Astérix and the secret of the magic potion, the last animated movie.
There's more than one?
[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asterix](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asterix) its Probably older than you and some of the funniest stuff of my childhood.
I know what Astérix is, I've read most of them, I just didn't know there were more films than the adaptation of The Palace of the Gods
There's live action movies?
You should check out Mission Cléopatre. One of the best comedy movies of all time. (In french atleast, no idea how good it is with an english translation)
Yes and they're all good (with some of the best casting in movie history)
The latest movie doesn't seem to be reviewed all that well.
Don't listen to that heretic, the live action movies are pure shite. Made by people who seem to *hate* the material. You are better off watching cartoon and animated movies or read the awesome comics
Don't disrespect my Mission Cléopatre like that. One of the best comedy movies of all time.
There were a bunch of ones. The old ones are super good, but honestly they rely a lot on puns and French cultural references, so I don't know how well that translates when they are ported to other languages. The recent live action movies are kinda trash, tho. And the animated ones are all excellent

Asterix et obelix mission cleopatre ( the live action one that came out in 2002) is iconic to every French millenial.
It also got a pretty big fanbase in Poland (our dubbing is absolutely hilarious)
It's also iconic to every Polish millennial. I think it's one of the best comedies to this very day.
Not just French and not just millenial
Why is there a door that leads from nowhere to nowhere up on that wall?
well tastes and such but the very first live action ones and asterix mission cleopatra are still up there, idk about localizations tho so mileage will vary.
The twelve tasks of Asterix is the best one (IMO)
Oh yeah, I forgot about the old 2D ones
No idea how I've never heard of this before. Thank you for informing me, I now have plans for the next few days.
After one piece , Asterix is the most sold comic book in the worlds. there is 10 animated film, 5 live action film (only one good one) and a netflix animated show in the works anounced like 3 years ago.

Watched it in cinemas, I was the only guy in the room
too bad, it's honestly good
It's been ten years of me and my wife trading quotes from Kaamelott and it never grows old.

In Russian and as well.
Dude how many baguette eaters we got playing Warhammer? You’d think with how British it is they boycott it on principle. That’s the only explanation for why everyone here knows Asterix and Obelix.
Don't know about the rest of Europe, but Asterix is also quite famous in Germany.
Same here in Finland.
Same here in Italy
It's not exactly unknown in the UK.
And in parts of the US!
Same here in Portugal.
Same here in Switzerland

Don't blame us for this uncultured boob. I've been reading Asterix and Obelix for decades now.
Yes, it is the only explanation everyone here knows of it. Everyone knows Asterix and Obelix are only comercialized in France, and actually knowing about Asterix and Obelix without being French is a crime prosecuted by the Interpol
