I wasn't in IT audit, but was in IA and worked with some of the IT auditors at a large bank. That bank was awful, hours were long (which they lied about during the interview process) and turnover was high. I felt it was worse than PA (I worked at a local PA firm) bc the hours were long all year round and you were expected to volunteer and hang out with your team. Your experience will depend on the company and your supervisors. Sorry this wasn't more helpful.

It auditors at my f100 firm have an amazing life. Lower hours, lower stress, and higher pay. Just a very specialized field

In IA now. We’ve struggled to find and maintain IT auditors in our dept bc the market is RIDICULOUSLY hot. If you can hack it, you should have no issues finding a position at a great salary. In talking to a recruiter in the spring of this year, she said people qualified in IT audit typically had multiple offers lined up bc demand is so high. At least it is in big cities.

Same and can second this.

I recently passed my CISA cert. If you just type "CISA" in one of your job search sites for your area you'll get an idea of what the IT audit job market is in your area. The pay is solid if you find an organization that knows what they're doing. Even if you don't have a CISA cert this can still be helpful.

Used to be senior external auditor in b4 firm (Middle East). Hated my life because I was over worked and wanted out. Moved to another b4 firm as a financial accounting consultant hours not bad but the culture is really toxic. Jumped to IA for government entity and used to do financial and operational audits. WLB is amazing money too however I don’t feel the rush and excitement of b4 so the work is boring. I did 3 years of IT audits with the help of consultants and recently got my cisa and now I think to rejoin b4 as IT audit manager if I could just because I hate myself and I want some challenges.
