> he's only two wins away from 3 title defences at HW which is the record
I really hope Jones sticks around, doesn't pop or get arrested, and goes for this record. There's some fun fights between him and these HWs, and I'd love to see them
>Before anyone says anything I'm not saying hes afraid.
I mean - I'll say it.
Jones is old and was gifted two wins at LHW. I know he beat Gane, but Gane's fiercest competition was Ngannou who he got outgrappled by. Not really shocked he got outgrappled by Jones.
If Jones beat over-the-hill Stipe, he's going to retire boasting how he beat the HW GOAT and he's the GOAT of two divisions. He isn't going to fight anyone like Aspinall because he knows he'll lose at this stage in his career.
I get the point about Gane, but before the fight everyone was saying this was his toughest matchup ever because Gane was a bigger, faster and slicker striker than him and that Jones was old and his grappling(takedowns specifically) hadn’t been good for years(which it wasn’t).
The sub was split like 55/45 on the prediction polls but now every acts like it was a certainty he would win.
Don’t think he’s afraid. He said it himself in an interview - fights with up and coming HWs are low-reward, high-risk and don’t make much sense at this stage in his career. I’m not the biggest fan of the guy but I think that’s reasonable honestly
I get what you’re saying but your comment about gane reeks of hindsight bias. Not speaking for anyone else but I for one was hyped af for that match up especially seeing as Jones had struggled so much against Reyes and Gane is longer, faster, and slicker and also way more active
He’s too fast for a HW. that’s why he injured his leg. Travis Browne was the OG bouncy and fast HW before Aspinall and his knees became toast fairly quickly. Hope the same doesn’t happen to Tom, he’s very exciting, good, and seems like a great guy.
“I’m working on the intricacies of details of maneuvers that had doesn’t even know the names of yet.”
- Tom “Frank Mir” Aspinall on his opponent Tybura
Love that the HWs are getting fast, fit, and ready to fuck.
Sergei, Blaydes, Aspinall, maybe Almeida. All these guys are quick and can KO anyone in the division.
Sergei v Aspinall is a banger I can't wait to see.
Yeah 100%, I think whether he can get into the top 5 is really matchup dependent. Like if he got someone like Gane, that's definitely winnable, but I'm just not sure what his path to victory would even be over someone like Blaydes or Aspinall who are considerably larger and can grapple in their own right.
The actual "REAL" problem at heavyweight Unlike DC saying that about Gane. Tom's got all the tools, not just the kick boxing. And we still haven't seen him HAVE to use his ground game.
The only thing I'm worried about is he's going to injure himself with the Dom Cruz standup like Travis Browne did. If he can keep his lightfooted style as he ages, he's at least going to gatekeep a lot of less athletic HWs.
I know I would love to see that, but it would be questionable fight IQ by Tom to stand and kick box with the most talented striker in the division when he could just easily go to the ground lol
That man is gonna hide in retirement. Thats why he wants Stipe so much. One more big bag against a fighter in his 40s and he gets to walk out the Goat while the UFC pretends Tom and Sergei don't exist.
Don’t blame him one bit either
Wouldn’t take a risky fight like Aspinall if I could just ride into the sunset beating the GOAT hw and undefeated
Jones is pretty old in mma years, get out before it gets ugly, don’t blame any fighter for doing it they have lives to live.
You make a rational point, but I don't like Jon Jones and want him to go the way of BJ Penn. And I really did buy into the good guy JJ back when he first started.
But I thought he was hiding from Pav? This sub just think every HW contender would beat Jones, except Gane of course. Everyone knew he was just some bum right? Lmao
No but anyone with a brain would know that Jones could wrestlefuck him after Francis won his way via lay n pray.
I know I know "but this sub said" well this sub collectively is dumb. This sub also started to believe that Conor was going to show Mayweather angles that would give him trouble....
Cyril had us tricked that HW got good but Tom is here to be a real actual good heavyweight and not a bloated LHW or an old man with a lot of experience
Ciryl IS good. he's just min maxed. his striking skill is the highest hw has ever seen, but his ground game is too lacking. against most hws that's enoigh.
I agree. I would argue Gane is one of the best strikers in the UFC at this current point. Hell, if he just works defensive wrestling, I think he would be substantially more dangerous.
Tom actually has a ground game unlike Gane. And a good bit more power
Gane is great at what he does but he's been exposed to a certain degree. Not counting Gane out but Tom is just more well rounded and more suited to stay at the top
Going to be fun seeing how it shakes out at the top with Pavlovich, Tom, and Gane in the next year or two
I was high on Tom ever since he boxed up Jake Collier in his UFC debut, it wasn't even about the caliber of opponent or anything, it was just that seeing such clean striking and a beautiful 1-2 from a heavyweight got me perked up. I am so glad that he wasnt affected too much by the injury.
Aspinall's call-out was pretty awesome and he vs Gane is easy to sell. But yeah, if both Jones and Stipe retire, don't think they'll waste time with a non-title fight for Aspinall.
There is something very kingly and classy in how aspinall moves and acts. I dislike most of these UK guys but aspinall is definitely someone I would instantly respect in real life
Tom is special but acting like Marcin is a pushover is disingenuous. If anything, Tom beating Marcin so emphatically just shows how high of a ceiling he has.
People say the same thing about gane. I think tommy is just as agile if not more agile with the benefit of actually having grappling/jujitsu. Tom is definitely a freak of nature.
His speed is ridiculous. I'm concerned his backing straight up with his chin high is gonna cost him eventually. Hope he fixes that. Incredibly high ceiling, though.
Tom Aspinall with the perfect call out. Sets up his next fight as a #1 contender fight, and all he has to do is beat either guy to fight for the belt. Jones will be retired after Stipe, so no need to worry about him either.
Every time I see Aspinall I’m consistently amazed by how fast he is.
And it’s not like a Yoel Romero freight train off of the rails kind of fast. He is controlled, agile and fucking quick.
Future of the HW division is in good hands between Aspinall, Pavlovich and Jailton Almeida.
Skill is back (kinda)

Welcome back Aspinall, what a beast.
Great hand speed for a heavyweight
Great speed full stop!
Dude moves like a middleweight.
He really does - that was reminiscent of Anderson Silva. He's quick and athletic and somehow despite not looking that heavy he's 260lbs!
What a mismatch lol
he needed a fight like this to prove that after his injury that he still got it. if he wins the next one he goes for the title
Tybura is 7-1 in his last 8 not counting this fight. How is it a mismatch?
As in Tom is a lot more skilled than Marcin, so it's a mismatch in skill I guess
He's so good.
Jesus he's so fast for a HW.
It is a travesty that we're getting Jones/Stipe instead of Sergei or Tom.
Tom vs sergei would be such a good fight.
Agreed. Not yet though. I’d love to see them both get a shot without a setback. I’d prefer yo see then fighting for a title. Banger Though!
Jbj is likely going to retire after he beats stipe so Tom vs Sergey for the title after that makes sense.
Love it
John wouldnt take a fight against either of them. Before anyone says anything I'm not saying hes afraid. He knows the risk is too high
If he beats Stipe, he's only two wins away from 3 title defences at HW which is the record. Would love to see him go after it
> he's only two wins away from 3 title defences at HW which is the record I really hope Jones sticks around, doesn't pop or get arrested, and goes for this record. There's some fun fights between him and these HWs, and I'd love to see them
you know that’s not gonna happen lmfao
Yeah, but a redditor can dream
Dana is gonna increase fighter pay and cross promote to get the fights that we want.
He better not retire after the stipe fight!!
I hope you’re preparing for disappointment…
When has Jon Jones not delivered on disappointment
As much of a cunt he is, every single fight he has been in apart from OSP and Santos have been good to watch.
The sub was split like 55/45 on the prediction polls but now every acts like it was a certainty he would win.
Man I was campaigning against Gane so hard in that fight I really don't know what people were seeing lol.
Don’t think he’s afraid. He said it himself in an interview - fights with up and coming HWs are low-reward, high-risk and don’t make much sense at this stage in his career. I’m not the biggest fan of the guy but I think that’s reasonable honestly
This is such a typical MMA fan comment. Forget, Discredit, then Assume.
I don't think he's scared I just think he's calculated and weighing the risk reward.
I get what you’re saying but your comment about gane reeks of hindsight bias. Not speaking for anyone else but I for one was hyped af for that match up especially seeing as Jones had struggled so much against Reyes and Gane is longer, faster, and slicker and also way more active
I kinda getting why he does not take those fights, Pavlovich is a no name, Aspinal is getting traction, but still not there popularity wise.
His movement is insane. He’s like Gane with solid ground game
He’s too fast for a HW. that’s why he injured his leg. Travis Browne was the OG bouncy and fast HW before Aspinall and his knees became toast fairly quickly. Hope the same doesn’t happen to Tom, he’s very exciting, good, and seems like a great guy.
Aspinall vs Gane would have faster striking exchanges than many 170/185/205 ranked fights
He’d just take Gane down
Yeah I think he’s fuck Gane up really quickly on the ground
Both his handspeed and footspeed/bounciness, really rare in a heavyweight. Only Gane matches that but Tom is just more vicious with fuck you power
He looked amazing this evening. I just want to see more of what he can do. It's all over so quick, win or loss haha.
Tom is like Gane, but if Gane was a proficient wrestler....insane threat to anyone at LHW...Even Sergei P.
Of course he's a threat to any LHW, he's bigger than them
fast as fuck for a dude his size. its wild.
He reminds me a lot of Frank Mir prior to the motorcycle accident
Mir was smaller like 230. Tom is a legit 6’5 and 260 pounds this a lot more impressive.
Didn't 6'3 billed Tybura expose Tom's height by being nearly the same height just now?
x 4
u/_TidePodsTasteGood added Aspinall to the list of fighters he wanted to workout with this summer
He got me,” Marcin said of Aspinall's jab on him. "That f***ing Aspinall boomed me."
Cartoonishly so
Would like to see him v Gane if Gane beats Spivac in Paris E: yup just called out the winner of that fight
God I might just like watching English Frank Mir more than I liked watching American Frank Mir
I swear to God if Dana gives him a free Harley Davidson.
Jon Jones about to order him a motorcycle right now.
Holy shit. My friends and I just had this whole conversation.
Still the single worst sponsorship deal in MMA history
“I’m working on the intricacies of details of maneuvers that had doesn’t even know the names of yet.” - Tom “Frank Mir” Aspinall on his opponent Tybura
I need someone to ask Aspinall what his thoughts are on Miguel Torres.
I finally figured out who Aspinall looks like with this comment. He looks just like Mir!
Aspinall is a real problem at HW
Love that the HWs are getting fast, fit, and ready to fuck. Sergei, Blaydes, Aspinall, maybe Almeida. All these guys are quick and can KO anyone in the division. Sergei v Aspinall is a banger I can't wait to see.
*Maybe* Almeida? Hes definitely fast, definitely fit, but I’m honestly not sure if he’s ready to fuck
I'm also just not sure how he deals with the HW's who aren't completely incompetent grapplers given how small he is.
To be fair you can be a top 5 HW while being completely incompetent in the ground, so i'd say Almeida has good chance against like 90% of the roster.
Possibly one of the best HW ranking of all times in the UFC history other than the time when the whole pride roster got shipped over.
Ngannou would windmill KO all of them though.
Sergei the only one who can windmill back
Sergei throws pretty straight shots
Straight windmills.
After all, tech evolves.
What part of toms style reminds you of Dom Cruz lol?
Tom also thinks Keith Peterson smells like booze and cigarettes.
> Tom also ~~thinks~~knows Keith Peterson smells like booze and cigarettes.
Tom is a bouncy boy is the only thing I can think of. He's very boingy for a heavyweight
More active with movement=Dom Cruz apparently
I think he’ll have to use it against Gane. I imagine he just takes Gane down and grinds him out.
Awwwh it would be so awesome if they stood up
I know I would love to see that, but it would be questionable fight IQ by Tom to stand and kick box with the most talented striker in the division when he could just easily go to the ground lol
Not enough octagons in the world for Jones to hide under and escape Tom Boy
That man is gonna hide in retirement. Thats why he wants Stipe so much. One more big bag against a fighter in his 40s and he gets to walk out the Goat while the UFC pretends Tom and Sergei don't exist.
Don’t blame him one bit either Wouldn’t take a risky fight like Aspinall if I could just ride into the sunset beating the GOAT hw and undefeated Jones is pretty old in mma years, get out before it gets ugly, don’t blame any fighter for doing it they have lives to live.
You make a rational point, but I don't like Jon Jones and want him to go the way of BJ Penn. And I really did buy into the good guy JJ back when he first started.
He’s changed this time I swear
One more test from God and that's it!
fool me once... shame on... you?
Tbh his goat case is already solidified. Really no reason for him to stick around for his legacy
You probably thought gane was gonna beat up jones didn't you?😂😂
Tom Aspinall is back baybee
The hero heavyweight needed
A heavyweight with amazing technique AND ground game.
FUCKING GET IN
Cyril had us tricked that HW got good but Tom is here to be a real actual good heavyweight and not a bloated LHW or an old man with a lot of experience
Ciryl IS good. he's just min maxed. his striking skill is the highest hw has ever seen, but his ground game is too lacking. against most hws that's enoigh.
I am interested to see if that lit a fire under him to get better in the grappling department. He looked like a lost white belt against Jon.
He’s only been training MMA like 3 4 years? He can improve in spades if he’s focused on it
He's more focused on FIFA from what I gather.
I agree. I would argue Gane is one of the best strikers in the UFC at this current point. Hell, if he just works defensive wrestling, I think he would be substantially more dangerous.
Tom actually has a ground game unlike Gane. And a good bit more power Gane is great at what he does but he's been exposed to a certain degree. Not counting Gane out but Tom is just more well rounded and more suited to stay at the top Going to be fun seeing how it shakes out at the top with Pavlovich, Tom, and Gane in the next year or two
R/MMA revisionist historians at work now.
What an incredible way to come back!
It's not even just that he won, it's that he came back from injury and showed zero hesitation and fought every second of that knowing he'd win.
As soon as he landed that heavy leg kick I was like yep he’s fully recovered.
Wish every fighter actually took the time to recover instead of healing an injury 70% of the way and getting it hurt even worse in the next fight.
The very first thing he threw was a kick. Fair play to him. I hope he becomes a champion.
Aspinall doesn't work by the hour, damn.
He's still fast af got dang
Moves like a fuxming WW
GIVE THAT BIG BEAUTIFUL BASTARD A KNIGHTHOOD ALREADY FFS
He will be champion one day
Aspinall vs Pavlovich for the vacant? Those would be insane 2 minutes
I have a feeling that’ll happen for sure
Aspinall's call-out was pretty awesome and he vs Gane is easy to sell. But yeah, if both Jones and Stipe retire, don't think they'll waste time with a non-title fight for Aspinall.
UK gonna have two champs soon hopefully
There is something very kingly and classy in how aspinall moves and acts. I dislike most of these UK guys but aspinall is definitely someone I would instantly respect in real life
Amazing skills with a great nice personality.
Why you dislike allen, leon, wood, mokaev. They're all good dudes.
I was thinking of Paddy and Molly. But yeah Leon is also a gentleman
The loud clowns generally spoil it for the rest of us
Scousers mate. The rest of the UK isn’t that obnoxious
Literally didn’t even break a sweat
I love this man
Well that went exactly as expected
The odds were kinda nuts
I had Tybura as a very live dog but am here to eat crow and stand corrected. Aspinall is so damn good.
He landed a hard counter in the first exchange that froze Tom for a second, that is the +300 right there.
There were some people saying here that Tybura is "underrated". Well...
Tybura is underrated. Its just that Aspinall is champion caliber and he isnt. Theres levels etc.
I can’t read that without seeing Beastin’ 25/8’s goofy fucking face lol
Tom is special but acting like Marcin is a pushover is disingenuous. If anything, Tom beating Marcin so emphatically just shows how high of a ceiling he has.
The sky is the ceiling.
Tom Aspinall, deliver us from the evil that is Jon Jones
Jon will never fight him(or Pavlovich)imo, I bet he's gone after the Stipe fight
Cocaine and legal fees are expensive
Fair enough. It’s been a long ride at the top. People love to watch guys go out on top but arent satisfied unless jones keeps fighting until he loses
[удалено]
Man that would be something, insane fight to think about
Goddammit he is good!!!!
[удалено]
It's not just you. Dubz is just terrible.
Can’t WAIT to see Pavlovich vs Aspinall
How does bro move like a welterweight holy shit
People say the same thing about gane. I think tommy is just as agile if not more agile with the benefit of actually having grappling/jujitsu. Tom is definitely a freak of nature.
I've been watching them both for a while. Tom has substantially quicker hands than Gane.
Tom can actually throw a 1-2 as well. Gane is like Usman where he has nice jabs but the follow up punch is ugly af.
Why are we underrating Gane now lol
JON JONES COME OUTSIDE
USADA’s gone, come out from under the cage
The alpha move of the night was Bisping keeping the microphone
'Bisping give me the mic' BISPING: ... -,- *HOLDS MIC*
Aspinall, Gane and Pavlovich will make the HW divisions title picture really interesting once Jones retires after the Stipe fight
*clears throat* _whispers_ Curtis Blades too
Curtis is very good but he will just continually get within one fight of a title shot and get knocked out on repeat until he retires
really interested to see him vs gane and aspinall
His striking defence and chin is a problem against the best guys.
Show up, make weight, get knocked out, fly home. Thank you Marvin Tybura.
Marvin "The Polish Dream" Tybura
Jesus, and we thought Gane was agile for heavyweight. Look at this fucking guy.
hws : they slow gane : hes not slow tom : hes fast
His speed is ridiculous. I'm concerned his backing straight up with his chin high is gonna cost him eventually. Hope he fixes that. Incredibly high ceiling, though.
HE FIGHTS LIKE A FUCKING FEATHERWEIGHT
6'5 fighting like he's 5'6. What a beast
I’m pretty sure everyone saw that outcome coming. Tom still looks like a future champion.
Give me Jones vs Aspinall
I think Aspinall wrecks Gane
As it stands now, on the ground yes, but on the feet it would be very interesting how Aspinall reacts to someone being as fast as him and vice versa
Aspinall will have a big power advantage though
You know I wasn't entirely certain before today but now I think I can confidently say that Aspinall beats Pantoja
Why are all the clips posted on that shitty dubz site? Low res and riddled with ads…
Aspinall is who everyone thought Gane was
Holy fuck, sat him down with one punch.
Tom Aspinall with the perfect call out. Sets up his next fight as a #1 contender fight, and all he has to do is beat either guy to fight for the belt. Jones will be retired after Stipe, so no need to worry about him either.
THATS WHY HES THE GOAT
THE GOOOAAAATTT
He might be the chosen one
Hes not just a once in a lifetime athlete, hes a once ever. Hes so dominant. Hes not just a really handsome guy just getting by, hes smashing people.
Beautiful
HES BACK
We need Aspinall vs Gane.
Hype train rerailed!
Well that was quick.
I really want to see him vs Ciryl Gane.
Aspinall vs Jones please, fuck Stipe
Let go of the fucking mic Bisping, i don't care about company policy.
This is the future heavyweight GOAT. If anyone’s gonna beat jon jones it’ll be this man. Good fucking lord
Jones will be retiring after his predictable win over Miocic and Homelander-esque speech in MSG.
HE'S BACK
Am I the only one who cannot get dubz videos to play without huge lag/choppy video?
Well we all saw that coming
So it’s just fuck Pavlovich huh 💀?
