I currently don't have a village in the region where the battle is taking place. at this point it feels like my option is to start again and ensure I have 6 militia before I make my manors. :(
Once the battle starts, the battle zone doesn't appear to be terribly strict. I usually have to chase an archer unit about half a region away from the zone to finish the battle out.

I know it is a bit cheasy but you could go on nexus mods and get the multiple guard tower mod that allows four larger towers to be built. Then you cam get your retinue in each region up to 60. If you can build those in an earlier savefile you could manage it. Not worth it to start from scratch due to this imo bug
Hire the wayward sons mercenaries and attempt to kite his armies away from the battlefield. Eliminating the remaining troops should trigger a win scenario.
From what I know. You need to harass the baron in early to mid game to avoid this from happening.
You should have at least 3 regions with a good amount of militia. I haven't reached this yet though, still learning.
Usually I'd say hammer and anvil..like get around 4 units to charge your shield wall while you fan out with shock infantry from behind and flank the attackers diagonally from behind.
This actually worked quite well for me a few times.
Often the ai splits off a few units to charge you and you can take them out quickly with this, then rinse and repeat.
Not sure if this will work on this scale though..

„Ride out and meet them“ Or maybe build a funnel from manor walls and try to lure the bad ai into a chockepoint?

I mean winning this without cheesing would be impossible, so this might be the approach

I have the regions bar the last. I cannot get any more militia as they have bugged out because I got retinue. Early
