It obviously was a last-minute decision based on the weather. The powers that be had to decide between having the clash or not having a clash at all in less than a few hours. I think they did the best they could given the circumstances, and to be honest, they did pretty well on making it happen regardless.
If I had flown or driven in for a NASCAR weekend, I would be bummed too. That's a bad beat, man. But, for the people who experience it through a screen... they made it happen. So for that I am happy.
I found out as my plane landed at LAX. Made it to the track just in time for cars to roll out for practice. Now using today to visit the Petersen museum and a bunch of other tourist stuff. Honestly I'm ending the weekend pretty happy.

Sucks for people who don’t constantly stay glued to social media and took a flight out to realize the race already ran when they were flying over Dallas Texas.
I mean of course I’d be mad, but dang… check the weather. It’s 2024. If you can cry about it on Reddit, you could have gotten the X/Twitter notification.
That’s a pretty narrow view. The weather report changed by the minute. NASCAR did not inform ticket holders about it until 3:35 pm PST. So gave you an hour and 25 mins to make the event if you weren’t glued to twitter, facebook, reddit etc. It was a bad situation all around. Never seen NASCAR run a race 24 hours early in my entire life.
It sucked but was absolutely the right call. Los Angeles is drenched and flooding right now, they would not be racing at all today and would have had to push to at least Wednesday. They did right by the fans and gave us an amazing show and gave us our money back without having to sit in the rain for hours.
There is a state of emergency in LA county, so if they did go they would just be pissed off they are stuck with road closures (if commuters) or at LAX waiting for a return flight (if travelers).
The rain isn’t as bad as they said it would be… right now. That being said it’s always better to be in the dry. That also being said I feel for those flying in Sunday and not able to see it as a result. So it’s good and bad in it. Me? I’m happy. I was there anyway. I woulda been there trying to stay dry if they didn’t change it

Glad nascar moved the race! Just got this alert. And we would have not raced a single lap today. I live about 20min from the LA Coliseum and it is PISSIN outside
I wasn’t like it wasn’t discussed, the weather was a topic for two days before and news of the rescheduled race was being talked about late Saturday morning….
Seriously the only people I have seen post about this topic were people who weren't even planning to be there. If people who had tickets were in a rage about it we would be hearing about it by now.
Yes. But remember that this conversation is about how it was moved up a day early, and a lot of people couldn't get there. With 4 hours notice 15 thousand people went to watch. That is a good thing.
You’d think that if the forecast was calling for that much rain you’d constantly be checking whether it was rescheduled. I live in CANADA and found out it was rescheduled many hours before it started.
You can't move up a day without giving refunds, so a permanent track, they'll wait it out. Texas, Daytona, Charlotte, etc are still going to be there Wednesday the Clash circuit may not be.

they also made the event free for whoever wanted to come by
The options were either move the race up and have mostly empty stands, or most likely just not race at all.

You aren't going to win with those people

Or walls, which is exactly what you’re talking to when trying to discuss with those people.
I’m sure there was a lot of upheaval. How’s the weather today looking?

At least they got a refund. Plane tickets and time would be a tough loss though.
For real, I was thinking, from now on, travel insurance for any NASCAR plans.

Rain like crazy.
I saw Reed Timmer is somewhere near LA, so probably not very good.
Shits wet. Like really wet.

NASCAR is issuing refunds to everyone that couldn’t make it.
Cost me 10,000 fan rewards points and $500 for a hotel. Think I’ll get anything back?
Of all the decisions made last night, this was a great one.

There's been a pretty big upheaval.
It's hard to soar with eagles when you're surrounded by turkeys.
I was looking forward to watching it today at the bar and then looked online last night and saw Hamlin won and was like what the hell is going on

Homie I was there. It was at least 15k, probably more.
