KC Craft is the best ramen in the ENTIRE Midwest and it’s not even close. This is coming from a person that has tried just about every ramen place in a 500 mile radius from Kansas City. It’s probably the most authentic as well. They have special events every month where a chef from Japan comes and makes their specialty ramen from their region as well.
Aoyama over KC Craft. I haven’t been to KC Craft since the first week it opened so maybe it has gotten better, but Aoyama is significantly better in my opinion.
Locally, we like Aoyama in Olathe but prefer the evening trip out to Lawrence for Ramen Bowls when we're up for the drive.
We need try KC Craft again, I was somewhat disappointed that their spicy ramen was just chili oil poured on top of one of their plain ramens, I would have preferred a complex chili paste, but that is a personal preference.
To me KC Craft felt kitchey and try-hard.
Similar to Jinya down south, it felt like fancy applebees ramen.
It's a tie between Jinya and KC Craft for me.
Aoyama is the very bottom of my list, in fact I'd willingly never go there again.
Maybe somethings changed in the year or so it's been since I've been there, but the night we went, it was so bad I couldn't eat it. The service was also shit, but ymmv.
I have not tried the other places mentioned here yet, but some were on my radar.
I was really impressed with the Magic Noodle. You can watch them hand-make your noodles, and you get to choose which type and thickness. The only thing that could make it better would be some additional sauces like Sriracha or Hoisin. They have their own, which is nice, but I would go there more often with more choices. Regardless, it’s worth checking out.
KC craft ramen, be sure to check in online.
You can also order online and pickup. They keep all the goodies out of the soup when they package it up, so nothing gets mushy.
Thanks for the recommendation! I'll definitely check out KC Craft Ramen soon
KC craft Ramen and it's not even close!
JINYA Ramen and KC Craft Ramen
Another vote for Aoyama, which is technically in Olathe. I’ve been to KC Craft. It’s very good, but I still give Aoyama the nod.
Not sure if it's in OP, but Aoyama off 119th and 35 is incredible

Aoyama gets my vote with KC Craft Ramen as a close second.
Jinya over at 159th and 69
We love Aoyama.
Aoyama is in Olathe but very close to OP

Jumbo noodle is incredible. 135th by the B&B theater
Waifu and I vote for KC Craft. Jinya and Aoyama are also excellent.
