The super slim had a 12Gb version 🤦 more space just change out the hdd if your that worried super slim is also quite noise in comparison to the phatty and the slim
I love the design of the phat, but my heart goes to the looks of the slim. That and the reliability. I own a super slim as well, and it’s not a bad looking little beast, but it kinda feels cheap and plasticky. The door spring on mine doesn’t open all the way with out manually opening it. It doesn’t have a slot loading drive, which not as cool looking in my opinion, better for reliability
Man, I love the fat model 'cause is chonky af, the design is awesome, and that playstation 3 logo hits hard, though it isn't the most reliable model and despite all the hard maintenance you have to do (nec tokin, reball/reflow, ihs removal, etc...) I still love it, I own a PS3 Slim (25xx) but I love the bulky fat design, besides, you can install linux on a fat ps3! no idea why would anyone do this in 2024, but why not????

Gotta say I loved the phat one but once I got the yellow light and it died. The slim was the way forward. So much lighter and looked better by the TV. Also loved the clock of a buttons instead of heat touch.
That is where you are wrong my friend the "X" is actually a "cross", also you are counting them of them individually now if you said they a circular input buttons then you would be have a argument.But even the it would only be comparable to the "D-pad" what is made up for 4 buttons that are the same button but just with directional differences.
The OG for its ability to play PS2 games, couple it with a PS5 and you can basically play Sony's entire catalog. The Slim model is the best looking of the bunch, not too flashy and looks durable. The Super Slim is the quietest, uses the least amount of power, and has the most storage, but is the ugliest of the 3 and still can't play PS2 games.
a slim with an ssd is the fastest because it has a larger power supply and it runs cooler because the fans are more powerful than the super slim with its smaller psu.
If I can perfect the way to make it last as long as possible, I would choose the original phat PS3. A PS1, PS2 and PS3 in one, awesome media player (albeit hard to convert file specifics), easy to copy photos from a CS memory stick pro to the hard drive and display them in 1080p, it's essentially the perfect entertainment center.
Another weird but useful purpose I use it for is for title design display for VCR editing, another hobby I obsess over
My OG fat could play all my PS2 games, too bad I got yellow light of death after 4 years while playing Dead Island. Got a slim the winter break of BO2 and I still use it to play Gran Turismo 5, Dirt 1-3 and Motorstorm titles from time to time. Me and my brother swap possession of it every few months. I just emulate PS2 games nowadays so I think I'ma go with the front-loaded slim since mine is 12 years old now and still runs
