Have two ps4’s I’m trying to fix
First one doesn’t turn on at all with the power button or disc button so idk if it does work or not. Any help on how to turn it back on or knowing it doesn’t work
Second one turns on and loads up (Checking the system storage status) and then freezes at 100%
I'm fairly new to owning a PlayStation, and I had a question. so for background, I prefer physical copies of games if I have a choice. I recently bought Lego Bat-Man 3 (one of my favorite lego batman games) but I bought it digitally. And my friend said he'd happily give me his old physical copy. So if I switch from the digital to the physical copy, will my progress reset? I do not have PS Plus btw in case that helps. Thank you for any help!

I just moved across state and ever since then my PS4 Keeps disconnecting cting from the wifi every time i turn it off. When I press "Set Up Internet Connection" it just takes me to this screen saying something about my IP? My wifi is working fine and its only not working on my PS4.

Hi, whenever I turn on my PS4, 2 specific problems can happen. Either it cannot connect to wifi and I need to restart my console, or it has to reload my extended USB storage and I have to wait a long time for all my games to load. Sometimes neither happens, sometimes both happen, or sometimes it's just one or the other. I've already tried rebuilding the database, please help I would greatly appreciate it

my controller worked fine until I decided to fix a tiny stick drift, and after closing it, it didn't work, except for when I pressed the PS button. After ca. 5 seconds, it stops working until I press it again.

What game did you purchase exactly? Generally once you purchase something it should be available to download immediately.
If you got a receipt for the purchase then restore licenses and try downloading the game again. Beyond that remote download using the Website/app
Bought the game in 2018 and it's Dragon Ball Xenoverse 1. I have tried to restore license, deactivated and activated it, and tried the boot into safe mode and rebuild
Double check your transaction history to make sure you purchased the game on that account.
Currently it sounds like you either purchased it digitally on another account, game shared it from someone else or simply owned it on disc.
Ive tried everything and it just tells me a problem occurred with the device. I try repairing it and then the same screen comes up again saying "a problem occurred in extended storage" It is just looping. I have restarted my ps4, blown out the dust in the ports for the storage and the ps4, rebuilt the data, updated my ps4, turned off my ps4 and let it sit for a bit before turning it on again, unplugged and replugged in both ports for the extended storage device, looked online for what to do, and nothing is working. Someone help please
If they were purchased from a legitimate retailer they should be fine.

My ps4 is pretty old and im thinking of getting a replacement. I was just wondering if my account would be reset during the change? Like would my account be reset if i changed my PlayStation. I have a game i play regularly and i think id be pretty devastated if all my progress reset. Its not a disc game, it was bought on PlayStation store so thats why i was wondering.
I bought ps plus not even an hour ago, and now it won’t let me refund without waiting in line for an “Agent” and it probably won’t even work. I’ve been sitting here but the only option it has is “Chat with a virtual assistant” which makes me give it my info, then make me wait for HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE to get an agent.

So, a while ago, I created an account using my mums email and made a password. Now, I'm trying to sign into another Playstation, but I've forgotten the password. So my girlfriends mom asked me to try and fix her PS4 slim. What caused this, was in their apartment the breaker in the living room is the same as the one in the kitchen they use for their microwave. They also had a fireplace connected. Long story short, after a few times of the breaker being tripped, it's corrupted the hard drive (or so I think). When it boots up, I get the "connect a storage device for reinstallation, update file 7.55" I have done that and have a file "PS4", "UPDATE" on the USB.
When I go to do it, it recognizes it, initializes, etc but it just goes back to the same issue. I've held the power button in until I got to safe mode, but the only option was to reinstall the OS. The cursor wouldn't move off of that.
I have an old fat model PS4 that works, tried the harddrive in that, and still get the same menu. I've thought about wiping the original hard drive, but not sure if that'll work and will have to find my sata cables as I only use nvme in my desktop.

It sounds like either the HDD in the Slim is dead or faulty, or the Slim itself has some damage (though likely just the HDD). If your old PS4 and it's HDD isn't currently being used, you could try temporarily using that HDD in the slim, installing the OS etc and testing it for a few days or weeks. If all works well, then you could either leave the HDD in the Slim, or buy a new HDD or SSD for it.
Moving HDDs between PS4's wipes any data on them, so make sure you backup your data to a USB stick first. Unfortunately if your girlfriends mom didn't backup saves via USB or PS+, then her saves will be gone. If/when you fix the Slim, maybe show them how to do backups via USB stick (any old USB 3.0 or 2.0 stick will work).
I was kind of hoping that the hdd from my PS4 would just boot up when I tried last night. I'm going to try and find an old ssd I don't need and do a fresh install.
When you move HDDs between PS4's, it will always format the HDD. Each PS4 will encrypt the HDD with its own key.
A decent size SSD would probably be your best bet, if they play games on their PS4, I'd not go lower than 500GB. But if they only use it for a couple of smaller games, Netflix etc then you could probably get away with using a smaller SSD (although I think 160GB is the minimum size).
So my PS4 today started making a weird noise. We had inserted a disc and it won't register the disc, it just keeps making the noise like it's trying to eject the disk. But when we hit the eject button-it won't give back the disc. It just keeps making the ejection noise over and over again. We have to restart the PS4 in order for it to finally eject the disc. Try to insert it again to see if it works-and it just does the same thing. My PS4 is only 4 years old and for the most part we don't use discs often, as most of my games are downloaded. Could it be a bad disc drive? Or maybe something lose? If it is a bad disc drive-how do I fix that?

I have a Dual shock 4 v2 and the triangle button eventually stopped working for some reason.
So i tried to disassemble the controller and swapped the white rubber under the 4 buttons with a new one from a different controller since it was coincidentally a bit worn out only on the spot where the triangle button was. But when i finally put it back together, everything was still the same including the non working button and that different controller i swapped the white rubber with, all the buttons were still working just fine but the triangle button was no longer pressing down as smoothly as before.
Not really. A PRO is useful if you have a PSVR and don't have the PS5 adapter for it. It's also useful for remote play to play your PS5 in 2 different rooms without buying 2 PS5s.
Getting ready to transfer my old captures to a hard drive via usb to computer to a hard drive.

Why do I need more space for an update?
So I’m trying to update Fortnite on my PS4 but it says I need to free up space, even though I have 260gb of free space on the external hard drive the game is installed on. It's how the PS4 was designed as it was the first Playstation consolr that let you download massive games from the Store. External HDD support was patched in, so the data is downloaded to the internal and passed to external. So you ideally need a 100GB buffer on the internal for the copy process.
Yes, all part of the copy process where it makes a copy of the base game before installing the downloaded update. This you get games like COD that need 150GB free to update even a 500MB patch.
My video clips and some screenshots are turning out fuzzy.
I've been recording multiple video clips while playing the game series the last of us. I don't know if I'm having this problem with other games, since I haven't done video clips to much for other games, though I think it's a video clip issue itself. Basically the game runs beautifully and has great graphics on the screen when I'm playing it, but when I look back at the clips, it looks fuzzy. Both the first and second game are having this problem. I've turned off motion blurr and film grain in the game settings, but my clips still have bad motion blurr and maybe a bit of film grain. I've even tried playing around with the settings a bit on my ps4 and TV to try and fix it, but nothing is working. I've tried everything Google has recommended me. It does look a bit better, but it still doesn't have the quality of when I'm playing. I know it's not a compression issue, since I'm viewing these clips from my ps4. It has not been compressed at all. Most of my screenshots are fine, especially if i use photo mode, but some of them turn out blurry, like in cutscenes and stuff. The colors also are off. They're slightly darker and grayer and turn out looking kind of oil-y. Please help me, I love taking screenshots and video clips and it's killing me seeing the bad quality of the clips.
The standard PS4 & Slim record video clips at 720p, so will looks softer vs likely 1080p gameplay. Only the PS4 Pro can record clips at 1080p.
The colours being off is likely down to having HDR enabled. Unfortunately it affects the video recordings, the only way around it is to disable HDR.
I have tried 2 different headsets now (razen kraken Wired and hyperx cloud stinger wireless) both of them have super low to no mic audio. I've gone into the slider and put it at max, and it still barely picks it up any fixes?
WiFi issue
I have had multiple issues with my ps4 but just today my ps4 hasn’t had internet and it’s really weird to connect to. For starters, custom and easy WiFi aren’t different. Neither give me the option to look through multiple WiFi connections and I have to put my WiFi in manually. Now it’s saying that it’s either too weak to connect or my ssid is wrong. ST2320L has no picture, only a blank black screen when connected to the PS4 Slim using HDMI cable. But PS4 Slim works on other devices (Optix Mag 241C monitor and Sony Bravia TV). i have a 3.5mm audio cable which i put inside my headphones then in to my monitor but i still dont hear audio. The cable works on every other device ive tried besides my monitor. Is this a issue with the monitor itself or the playstation?
You can't. The PS4 only plays movies from a USB stick/multimedia/bluray disc.
It doesn't allow you to actually store your movies and music on the PS4 itself.
Damn that’s a shame. I remember I used to be able to import movies and shit to the PS3 back in the day via USB and UMS when that failed. Maybe that was after I modded it and started using MultiMan but I think I was able to before hand. That’s some basic functionality there lacking on in the last gen dang.
I recently bought a pre-owned copy of Spiderman(2018) and when I downloaded it, it came up with an error. After a couple tries it worked but then I accidentally deleted the game and am now trying to re-download the game to no avail. Any tips?
I did a system update in safe mode and my PS4 can't read any discs ever though they are clean. Says unrecognized disc. Outside of safe mode the system was already updated. I also rebuilt the database in safe mode. Will an initialization or factory reset work or do I need to get another console? It plays all my downloaded games fine it just can't read games discs nor DVDs.
So I have my keyboard and mouse connected to a USB hub that goes into my PS4. The mouse connection is fine while delivering power and proper connection, but the keyboard is completely different. Power is being delivered, but only the CTRL and ALT keys are sending signal to the Playstation. I had these all connected to a separate desktop and laptop, and they all work completely fine. Could it be the USB hub itself? Or is it an operating system bug?

I have Days gone and AC Odyssey installed on my ps4(both are disc versions). Older versions, (actually AC odyssey is still 1.0) days gone is newer i guess, bc i have gyro aim.(it was added later, so i must have updated at least 1 time already)
Here comes the point. Connect to wifi the other day, days gone and ac odyssey's patch got into the downloads automatically. Stopped both of the downloads and kept them there. Some time later i've noticed my hard drive space got less with 80GB!!!

Any 2.5" SATA SSD should work in a PS4 (although ideally best to go with a known brand), the only limitations are capacity (max of 8TB, cost is more the issue there) and the physical height of the drive, max of 9.5mm. The only drives where max height will be an issue is 3TB+ HDDs, which are typically around 15mm.
As for what specific SSD to use, any will likely be a step up from the stock HDD. Personally I've used a 1TB Crucial MX500 in my CUH-1200 model (last revision before Slim) since the end of 2020 with no issues.
The MX500 drives have DRAM cache, some cheaper SSDs (like the Crucial BX500 line) do not. Honestly there isn't enough data out there, as to whether DRAM-less drives will perform poorer or not. But I generally just recommend the MX500 as I've personally used it for over 3yrs now. But prices have dropped so much, it's probably best to just go with an SSD with DRAM. To use the MX500 vs BX500 as an example, Amazon currently have the 1TB MX500 for $79.99 and the 1TB BX500 for $73.11, less than $7, so probably best to just get the MX500 in that case.
Also: Since this QR code thing sometimes i have to try sign in multiple times, bc the "sing in" stay blurred out after typing my password. So the button is unable to press on.
If it is not clear what i am saying, the sing in with qrcode or sign in manually. I choose manual, the email is there already and when i type my password do not let me press the sign in after that.
Then i try again, typing again and usually solves the problem.
I tried cleaning out my PS4 by taking out the power supply and blowing into the vent that the power supply was covering. Now my PS4 controller is constantly disconnecting or not taking inputs. Anyone know why?
It's likely that the WiFi/Bluetooth Antenna has been knocked loose. Have a look under the PSU, there is a little connector (see pics here on an [**ifixit article**](https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Repairing+PS4++Bluetooth+Antenna+from+Defect+or+System+fell/53476)). It's probably resting against it, not clicked on. That would explain a intermittent connection.
Any tips or tricks for cleanimg a ps4 slim? Do i need to take everything off, or can i just lift the top panel for dust cleaning? And if i do, do i need to buy the specific tools or are there any alternatives? Also could i use a vacuum to suck out the dust or could that mess up the electronics?
Yesterday I lost all my PS4 data bc of HDD failing. Maybe this question will be a lil bit stupid but should I buy new HDD or SSD or reinstall OS with old HDD and pray this will not fail again. Better question is: Are the chances high to old HDD failing again someone who had this problem or know answer please help.

Given the relatively low cost, using a new HDD would probably be best rather than used. An SSD is a more expensive option, but will see improvements in load speed (typically reduced by 1/3 or up to 1/2), sometimes textures loading in quicker, the "copying" process during updates being faster and the general PS4 UI feeling more responsive. I installed a 1TB Crucial MX500 SSD at the end of 2020 and have been very happy with it.
Whatever you pick though, you'll need a USB stick to install the 'reinstallation file' from the [**Sony site**] (https://www.playstation.com/en-us/support/hardware/ps4/system-software/) (2nd download link, should be approx 1GB, not the smaller update file at approx 500MB). May as well get a decent size USB stick (say 64GB-128GB), which you can use for saves, screenshots & video clip backups in future.

A few days ago we had to use the breaker to turn something off, and we hit the wrong one and turned off the PS4 when we turned it back on it did its usual thing when It finished it was fine until it said the database was corrupted, so I rebuild, and it's fine until it happened again, its inconsistent, I'm able to play games and enter safe mode its just that sometimes when I turn the PS4 on or awake it from rest mode it may rebuild the database

Yes it can. Its been a flaw of Hard Drives since they were invented. It's why Windows would have the its now safe to shut off your PC message at the end of the shutdown process. Also, why games constantly warn about shutting off a game while it is auto saving.
At best it could just be corrupted data from the shut off or worse it is a failing HDD. Best thing to do is ensure your saved data is backed up before you lose it.
I need some recommendations for a UPS to use with PS4/Xbox series S and a 32inch LCD TV(sry, I dont have specifics about the tv right now). A: You are signing into either the wrong user profile or the wrong Playstation account. To solve this sign into your PSN account on the different user profiles until you sign into the correct one. If you cannot use any user profile due to the above message, make a new user profile for your PSN account.
PS4s use user profiles. Each user profile that is set up can then be tied to a single Playstation account. Thus you cannot sign out of a PSN account on a user profile and sign in with a different Playstation account. As such, 2 Playstation accounts each need their own separate user profile on a PS4.
You also cannot sign into a single Playstation account on 2 different user profiles on the same PS4. So if you want to use a new account with a PS4, make a new user profile.
**Q: My console is saying I don't have enough storage space for an update even though I do.**
A: You don't. If the console is asking you to free up space on your HDD then you must do as the PS4 asks. When the PS4 updates a game, it makes a copy of it on your HDD that is deleted once the update is applied. This means that a 50GB game requires 50GB free on the HDD + the size of the update. COD being a massive game can require 100GB+ free depending on its current size.
I recommend giving your PS4 a 100GB buffer to update your games. If you only have a 500GB HDD I also recommend an external HDD or upgrading your Internal HDD to a 2TB drive.

A: You can game share with 1 PS4 and PS5 at a time, known as your Primary console. Instructions above.
Again, you can only game share with 1 PS4 at a time, so if you want to game share with someone else use the same path to deactivate the PS4 or use the website to deactivate remotely.
Games and DLC can share between users, however some DLC is account locked so cannot be shared between users. DLC and game need to be the same region first in order to game share.
You can still access your games on any other PS4 you sign into, even if it's not your Primary PS4, simply by being signed into the PSN, but no one else on the non-Primary PS4 can play your games.

A: Yes. PS4, PS3 and PS5 Games are region coded so that USA DLC and saved data only works with USA copies of the game.
A French account/console can play a USA game disc but French DLC won't work with it. If an American account is used to purchase DLC the French account can play that DLC too assuming it is shareable between users ie not in game currency.
**Q: purchased a new copy of a game to continue my game save but it doesn't appear when I launch the game.**
A: First of all make sure the game is fully updated with the latest patch and check again.
Otherwise, saved data and DLC are region locked. So if you played an American copy of a game you created an American game save that cannot be read by a copy of the game from a different part of the world.
Also, Witcher 3 Wild Hunt is considered a different game to Witcher 3 GoTY so the saves are incompatible between both games even if from the same region.
**Q: I have purchased DLC for a game and it is stuck at 'waiting to install'. How do I fix this?**
A: If you launch the game and the DLC still will not install, this is down to a region mismatch. DLC and saved data are region locked, meaning DLC purchased on a USA account will not work with a European game disc/digital copy. To resolve this you either need to open an account matching the region of your game and purchase the DLC there (some DLC is account locked so cannot share). Or alternatively purchase a copy of the game from your region. Otherwise contact support for a refund, but no guarantees if one will be given.
**Q: How do I know the region of my game disc?**
A: Look at the age rating on the front cover. ESRB rated games are American, PEGI is Europe, etc. For more specific region info there is the CUSA code printed on the game disc that can be checked on an online database such as gamefaqs. DLC region codes are listed as part of the Playstation store URL.

General pointers:
• Make sure that you are using the console reinstallation file and not the update file.
• Your USB stick needs a folder called PS4 and inside that folder a second one called UPDATE
• Inside the UPDATE folder is where you put the reinstallation file
• The reinstallation file must be called PS4UPDATE.PUP otherwise it won't be recognised by the console. So remove any (1)s if they appear as part of the file name as that just obscures it.

Sony generally doesnt want you to connect a mouse because of gameplay advantages in fe. Fps games, ps4 also wont play non licensed dvds or disks. Its probably not a mouse problem
My tv sometimes randomly display visual buzzes and/or black screen altogether.
Initially, I though the HDMI cable was faulty but when I changed a new onez the problem stayed.
I cleaned the HDMI ports for both PS4 and tv but it is still the same.

Try a second HDMI port on your TV and a different HDTV if you haven't already.

Hi, whenever I turn on my PS4, 2 specific problems can happen. Either it cannot connect to wifi and I need to restart my console, or it has to reload my extended USB storage and I have to wait a long time for all my games to load. I bought ps plus not even an hour ago, and now it won’t let me refund without waiting in line for an “Agent” and it probably won’t even work. I’ve been sitting here but the only option it has is “Chat with a virtual assistant” which makes me give it my info, then make me wait for HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE to get an agent. So my girlfriends mom asked me to try and fix her PS4 slim. What caused this, was in their apartment the breaker in the living room is the same as the one in the kitchen they use for their microwave. They also had a fireplace connected. Long story short, after a few times of the breaker being tripped, it's corrupted the hard drive (or so I think). When it boots up, I get the "connect a storage device for reinstallation, update file 7.55" I have done that and have a file "PS4", "UPDATE" on the USB. When I go to do it, it recognizes it, initializes, etc but it just goes back to the same issue. I've held the power button in until I got to safe mode, but the only option was to reinstall the OS. The cursor wouldn't move off of that. I have an old fat model PS4 that works, tried the harddrive in that, and still get the same menu. I've thought about wiping the original hard drive, but not sure if that'll work and will have to find my sata cables as I only use nvme in my desktop. Any help is appreciated.
It sounds like either the HDD in the Slim is dead or faulty, or the Slim itself has some damage (though likely just the HDD). If your old PS4 and it's HDD isn't currently being used, you could try temporarily using that HDD in the slim, installing the OS etc and testing it for a few days or weeks. If all works well, then you could either leave the HDD in the Slim, or buy a new HDD or SSD for it. Moving HDDs between PS4's wipes any data on them, so make sure you backup your data to a USB stick first. Unfortunately if your girlfriends mom didn't backup saves via USB or PS+, then her saves will be gone. If/when you fix the Slim, maybe show them how to do backups via USB stick (any old USB 3.0 or 2.0 stick will work).
I was kind of hoping that the hdd from my PS4 would just boot up when I tried last night. I'm going to try and find an old ssd I don't need and do a fresh install.
When you move HDDs between PS4's, it will always format the HDD. Each PS4 will encrypt the HDD with its own key. A decent size SSD would probably be your best bet, if they play games on their PS4, I'd not go lower than 500GB. But if they only use it for a couple of smaller games, Netflix etc then you could probably get away with using a smaller SSD (although I think 160GB is the minimum size).
So my PS4 today started making a weird noise. We had inserted a disc and it won't register the disc, it just keeps making the noise like it's trying to eject the disk. But when we hit the eject button-it won't give back the disc. It just keeps making the ejection noise over and over again. We have to restart the PS4 in order for it to finally eject the disc. Try to insert it again to see if it works-and it just does the same thing. My PS4 is only 4 years old and for the most part we don't use discs often, as most of my games are downloaded. Could it be a bad disc drive? Or maybe something lose? If it is a bad disc drive-how do I fix that? I have the PS4 slim if that makes any difference.

I have a Dual shock 4 v2 and the triangle button eventually stopped working for some reason. So i tried to disassemble the controller and swapped the white rubber under the 4 buttons with a new one from a different controller since it was coincidentally a bit worn out only on the spot where the triangle button was. But when i finally put it back together, everything was still the same including the non working button and that different controller i swapped the white rubber with, all the buttons were still working just fine but the triangle button was no longer pressing down as smoothly as before.
Is there a reason to keep the 4 Pro once I upgraded to the PS5? As far as I can tell, all games are playable on the 5. Am I missing something?
Not really. A PRO is useful if you have a PSVR and don't have the PS5 adapter for it. It's also useful for remote play to play your PS5 in 2 different rooms without buying 2 PS5s.

I've tried before and notice the timestamps are different, and was wondering if theres a way that the original dates are recognized once transfered to PC. External HDD support was patched in, so the data is downloaded to the internal and passed to external. So you ideally need a 100GB buffer on the internal for the copy process.
The update itself was also just 1.29gb.
Yes, all part of the copy process where it makes a copy of the base game before installing the downloaded update. This you get games like COD that need 150GB free to update even a 500MB patch.
My video clips and some screenshots are turning out fuzzy. I've been recording multiple video clips while playing the game series the last of us. I don't know if I'm having this problem with other games, since I haven't done video clips to much for other games, though I think it's a video clip issue itself. Basically the game runs beautifully and has great graphics on the screen when I'm playing it, but when I look back at the clips, it looks fuzzy. Both the first and second game are having this problem. I've turned off motion blurr and film grain in the game settings, but my clips still have bad motion blurr and maybe a bit of film grain. I've even tried playing around with the settings a bit on my ps4 and TV to try and fix it, but nothing is working. I've tried everything Google has recommended me. It does look a bit better, but it still doesn't have the quality of when I'm playing. I know it's not a compression issue, since I'm viewing these clips from my ps4. It has not been compressed at all. Most of my screenshots are fine, especially if i use photo mode, but some of them turn out blurry, like in cutscenes and stuff. The colors also are off. They're slightly darker and grayer and turn out looking kind of oil-y. Please help me, I love taking screenshots and video clips and it's killing me seeing the bad quality of the clips.
The standard PS4 & Slim record video clips at 720p, so will looks softer vs likely 1080p gameplay. Only the PS4 Pro can record clips at 1080p. The colours being off is likely down to having HDR enabled. Unfortunately it affects the video recordings, the only way around it is to disable HDR.
I think the PS4 just does that, never really seen actual good footage from the video recording thing built-in.

WiFi issue I have had multiple issues with my ps4 but just today my ps4 hasn’t had internet and it’s really weird to connect to. For starters, custom and easy WiFi aren’t different. Neither give me the option to look through multiple WiFi connections and I have to put my WiFi in manually. Now it’s saying that it’s either too weak to connect or my ssid is wrong. ST2320L has no picture, only a blank black screen when connected to the PS4 Slim using HDMI cable. But PS4 Slim works on other devices (Optix Mag 241C monitor and Sony Bravia TV). My PS4 keeps crashing when trying to load minecraft, every time I try to load minecraft it makes my entire ps4 turn off, im not sure how I should fix it because it doesn't happen every time. It happens most times I try to load minecraft. I'm not sure if I need to delete and reinstall the app or not, I have the digital version. What should I do and is there any way to fix this?
i have a 3.5mm audio cable which i put inside my headphones then in to my monitor but i still dont hear audio. The cable works on every other device ive tried besides my monitor. Is this a issue with the monitor itself or the playstation?

You can't. The PS4 only plays movies from a USB stick/multimedia/bluray disc. It doesn't allow you to actually store your movies and music on the PS4 itself.
Damn that’s a shame. I remember I used to be able to import movies and shit to the PS3 back in the day via USB and UMS when that failed. Maybe that was after I modded it and started using MultiMan but I think I was able to before hand. That’s some basic functionality there lacking on in the last gen dang.
I recently bought a pre-owned copy of Spiderman(2018) and when I downloaded it, it came up with an error. After a couple tries it worked but then I accidentally deleted the game and am now trying to re-download the game to no avail. Any tips?
I did a system update in safe mode and my PS4 can't read any discs ever though they are clean. Says unrecognized disc. Outside of safe mode the system was already updated. I also rebuilt the database in safe mode. Will an initialization or factory reset work or do I need to get another console? It plays all my downloaded games fine it just can't read games discs nor DVDs.
So I have my keyboard and mouse connected to a USB hub that goes into my PS4. The mouse connection is fine while delivering power and proper connection, but the keyboard is completely different. Power is being delivered, but only the CTRL and ALT keys are sending signal to the Playstation. I had these all connected to a separate desktop and laptop, and they all work completely fine. Could it be the USB hub itself? Or is it an operating system bug?

Here is what happened the other day: I have Days gone and AC Odyssey installed on my ps4(both are disc versions). Older versions, (actually AC odyssey is still 1.0) days gone is newer i guess, bc i have gyro aim.(it was added later, so i must have updated at least 1 time already) Here comes the point. Connect to wifi the other day, days gone and ac odyssey's patch got into the downloads automatically. Stopped both of the downloads and kept them there. Some time later i've noticed my hard drive space got less with 80GB!!! lmao it reserved the whole space for those patches.. Not to mention 80 gb for two patches are sick.When i've chose to delete and not let them there with the pause state, i got the space back.

What brand SSD(1TB) should i buy for my PS4 Slim? And what is required in hard drive to be compatible with PS4?
Any 2.5" SATA SSD should work in a PS4 (although ideally best to go with a known brand), the only limitations are capacity (max of 8TB, cost is more the issue there) and the physical height of the drive, max of 9.5mm. The only drives where max height will be an issue is 3TB+ HDDs, which are typically around 15mm. As for what specific SSD to use, any will likely be a step up from the stock HDD. Personally I've used a 1TB Crucial MX500 in my CUH-1200 model (last revision before Slim) since the end of 2020 with no issues. The MX500 drives have DRAM cache, some cheaper SSDs (like the Crucial BX500 line) do not. Honestly there isn't enough data out there, as to whether DRAM-less drives will perform poorer or not. But I generally just recommend the MX500 as I've personally used it for over 3yrs now. But prices have dropped so much, it's probably best to just go with an SSD with DRAM. To use the MX500 vs BX500 as an example, Amazon currently have the 1TB MX500 for $79.99 and the 1TB BX500 for $73.11, less than $7, so probably best to just get the MX500 in that case.

Why do system updates no longer provide details of each update and instead direct you to a qr code or url? Surely this is a step backwards?
Also: Since this QR code thing sometimes i have to try sign in multiple times, bc the "sing in" stay blurred out after typing my password. So the button is unable to press on. If it is not clear what i am saying, the sing in with qrcode or sign in manually. I choose manual, the email is there already and when i type my password do not let me press the sign in after that. Then i try again, typing again and usually solves the problem.
I tried cleaning out my PS4 by taking out the power supply and blowing into the vent that the power supply was covering. Now my PS4 controller is constantly disconnecting or not taking inputs. Anyone know why?
It's likely that the WiFi/Bluetooth Antenna has been knocked loose. Have a look under the PSU, there is a little connector (see pics here on an [**ifixit article**](https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Repairing+PS4++Bluetooth+Antenna+from+Defect+or+System+fell/53476)). It's probably resting against it, not clicked on. That would explain a intermittent connection.
Any tips or tricks for cleanimg a ps4 slim? Do i need to take everything off, or can i just lift the top panel for dust cleaning? And if i do, do i need to buy the specific tools or are there any alternatives? Also could i use a vacuum to suck out the dust or could that mess up the electronics?
Yesterday I lost all my PS4 data bc of HDD failing. Maybe this question will be a lil bit stupid but should I buy new HDD or SSD or reinstall OS with old HDD and pray this will not fail again. Better question is: Are the chances high to old HDD failing again someone who had this problem or know answer please help. Sorry about the data loss. Given the relatively low cost, using a new HDD would probably be best rather than used. An SSD is a more expensive option, but will see improvements in load speed (typically reduced by 1/3 or up to 1/2), sometimes textures loading in quicker, the "copying" process during updates being faster and the general PS4 UI feeling more responsive. I installed a 1TB Crucial MX500 SSD at the end of 2020 and have been very happy with it. Whatever you pick though, you'll need a USB stick to install the 'reinstallation file' from the [**Sony site**] (https://www.playstation.com/en-us/support/hardware/ps4/system-software/) (2nd download link, should be approx 1GB, not the smaller update file at approx 500MB). May as well get a decent size USB stick (say 64GB-128GB), which you can use for saves, screenshots & video clip backups in future.

Can cutting power to a PS4 cause the HDD to fail? A few days ago we had to use the breaker to turn something off, and we hit the wrong one and turned off the PS4 when we turned it back on it did its usual thing when It finished it was fine until it said the database was corrupted, so I rebuild, and it's fine until it happened again, its inconsistent, I'm able to play games and enter safe mode its just that sometimes when I turn the PS4 on or awake it from rest mode it may rebuild the database It seems like a failing hdd but it was working fine before we accidentally turned it off
Yes it can. Its been a flaw of Hard Drives since they were invented. It's why Windows would have the its now safe to shut off your PC message at the end of the shutdown process. Also, why games constantly warn about shutting off a game while it is auto saving. At best it could just be corrupted data from the shut off or worse it is a failing HDD. Best thing to do is ensure your saved data is backed up before you lose it.

Can I update games from different regions? Was considering buying a game from another region but I know it has an important day 1 patch. I know dlc is not available, but does that also go for updates?
Yes you can update foreign games. That's why the DLC not working confuses people, because everything else works normally.

Sony generally doesnt want you to connect a mouse because of gameplay advantages in fe. Fps games, ps4 also wont play non licensed dvds or disks. Its probably not a mouse problem

My tv sometimes randomly display visual buzzes and/or black screen altogether. Initially, I though the HDMI cable was faulty but when I changed a new onez the problem stayed. I cleaned the HDMI ports for both PS4 and tv but it is still the same. Anything else I can do to get this fixed or atvleast pinpoint the source of the problem?
Try a second HDMI port on your TV and a different HDTV if you haven't already. If you don't have access to that try remote play and see what happens there.
