Yeah me area was 100% behind perry. Am I crazy to say it felt like the arena felt like it was split like 80-20 in favor of Jack? That’s what it seemed like from where I was.
I have tickets to Collision in Cincy/NKY, I'm praying to the gods that Jack shows up. I know he probably doesn't show until Dynasty, but I'm praying all the same.
I don't think I will ever forget being in the room for this Chicago crowd reaction for Jack Perry.
I was yelling and screaming and cheering and chanting for the Scapegoat with a bunch of other wrestling fans, and it was fucking amazing.
Such a fun show. It was an absolute blast. Thanks New Japan.
Page going into business for himself and trying to embarrass Punk on live TV wasn't a douchebag move? Jungle boy, after being told not to, uses real glass and gloats about isn't douchebaggery?
Punk has multiple instances of going scorched Earth at multiple companies because he’s a hot head with no self-control.
If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck - it’s probably a duck.
If the duck goes into a fucking duck pond and has a bunch of smaller ducks relentlessly quacking at him the moment he enters the pond, I'd say it's not his fault he freaks out and chokes the smallest duck.
The smark Chicago fan is smart enough to see that Punk is a giant asshole and a straight up assaulter... even in Chicago.
The only ones still defending him are the GenPop WWE fans.
Then the largest group is the fan that enjoys Punk still, but won't defend him, and they're not going to be vocal in buildings like this in support of him likely... especially against the guy he assaulted.
What do you mean? Jack perry wasn't supposed to use real glass on a real rented car, used it then said "what are you gonna do about it? " he provoked punk?
lol.
That’s not what happened.
You think Jack Perry arranged and paid for a rental, somehow snuck it into Wembley Goddamn Stadium without security, production, or creative noticing, and then proceeded to have a match where no one in AEW was expecting him to have a car in the middle of the stage all without being stopped?
The car spot was preplanned and approved. The entire match centered around it.
So do you think every JBL limo and Alberto del Rio car were there to be used in matches? It's easy to say "hey let me use a car for my entrance" then use it for a spot.
Edit: I'm not saying you're wrong, but has someone said it was a planned spot or are you just assuming punk is lying? I genuinely haven't heard anyone say what punk said wasn't true
Of course it was a planned spot it’s never been debated
The whole thing is stupid anyway. Punk was looking to get out and has a very fragile mind. No matter of the glass thing happened or not SOMETHING would have triggered Punk eventually anyway.
Punk spends his life seeking things to be upset about and ways people have slighted him. He’s done it everywhere he’s worked previously
Also why is no one like tony schiavone coming out and saying punk is lying. Punk names multiple people who can discredit his account but none of them said anything.
Remix Cry Me a River so the chorus comes after the intro, put the verse later in the track so it becomes a C part that only plays during extended entrances, and I think it would work.
This is how Metalingus went from being one of the better Alter Bridge songs to one of the best wrestling theme songs with Edge. A remix would absolutely work.
Everyone thinks of Justin Timberlake but Julie London (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MkD_kYkRk3c&ab_channel=RiulDoamnei) would go so hard despite being slow. I'd love to hear that song drowned out with booing
If Jack Perry is getting reactions like this in Chicago, and if his eventual return to AEW as a heel goes well, was it worth it releasing the footage?
Do you think Jack Perry is getting these chants without the footage being released?
Edit: I didn't see the back of his jacket before commenting. But still, the reaction, chanting aside.
Chicago is a very Smarky crowd on top of it involving CM Punk.
I'm hopeful though
Also, they had shirts saying "Cry Me A River" and people were doing the chants as they showed Perry's face before the preshow matches started
As someone said in the discussion thread, it's hard to get smarkier than an American NJPW crowd, let alone Chicago, which is a top 3 smark city in America
Yeah, this was what I was thinking. I'm from New Jersey, so we're definitely the smarkiest state, but for these purposes, we get split between New York and Philadelphia.
I don't know if it will have been worth it, but it's not like airing it will have massive consequences beyond a week or so of fans mocking it online. So if it helps Perry's character and ties the thing into the programming (I don't think his involvement in Punk's firing was mentioned on-air), why not.
He got on the right track by turning heel, but this might be what was needed to push him over the edge. At least for now, will be interesting to see how he'll maintain it because once he's mainly in AEW again, it'll have to develop into something more than being angry he got suspended half a year ago
> was it worth it releasing the footage?
Only if it impacts ratings, ticket sales, and PPV buys. Of which, so far, it doesn't appear so. Some chants from the hardcore audience (which is who is at a NJPW show in the U.S.) isn't an indicator of anything.
But if he's improved and it carries over, maybe he can build it into something that helps the above. As of now, it doesn't appear so. No real movement on anything. So, no, wasn't really worth it to air the footage... in my opinion.
I honestly thought he would get booed out the building but that he'd have to deal with CM Punk chants. I really wasn't expecting such a positive response
I regret not going to this show now. Tickets didn't seem too expensive and I don't know much about NJPW, but from all the clips ive seen so far, it looks like it was a fantastic show
[https://twitter.com/DrainBamager/status/1778954967413567892](https://twitter.com/DrainBamager/status/1778954967413567892) this one is sick, he is actually getting cheered. Good for Jack
To paraphrase Bill Shakespeare: this is such stuff as pro-wrestling dreams are made on. I had chills for several portions of this match. I don't think this could have gone any more perfect as a showcase for Perry's new character following the footage drop.
Alright, now I'm tempted to feel he should be brought back as a babyface in AEW.
Tease that he'll partner up with his boys The Bucks and then immediately turn on them because Jack feels they "let" him become a scapegoat.
have him take out someone the bucks dont like
[then pull a styles as seen here](https://youtu.be/zVeP2Jr_4vU?si=aH4EvEFdUcUmGMXR&t=171)
angry lone wolf perry
I agree with this 100%. The Bucks reverse scapegoated him, using his suspension to further their agenda with FTR. They didn't care to mention it until it benefitted them. Jack should absolutely be mad at them and distrusting of everyone
No need to make him a full blown heel or babyface. Write a good character that makes sense in the story. The rest will fall into place
I'm cool with heel Jack. But I want the swerve to be him joining heel BCC after dealing with Mox on this Japan tour. Turns on Elite in his debut as a mirror to the Adam Cole debut. I think him and Heel Yuta would be a solid tag team.
I honestly think the best way to bring Jack back is something with Christian. Heel or face there’s options there. Tying him to the Bucks will always keep people thinking about Punk, please do anything but that
But that was obviously disingenuous and used as an excuse for why they lost, and they're executives. I could see Perry saying fuck you, you're part of the problem too to the bucks
The Bucks started this gimmick by sitting down with Renee and saying that their mission is to take AEW back to its roots and to move focus back to the young guys, not the “cancerous, self righteous Superstars of the past.” Their motivation is Tony becoming enamored with bringing in more and more ex WWE guys.
They’re essentially at odds with Tony Khan now. Not only that, but they were suspended and stripped of their titles for basically the exact same thing when punk attacked them at All Out.

I was there. I was seated in a 50/50 split section. And it was amazing
My section was fully behind him lmfao I fucking love this. He's officially over.
Yeah me area was 100% behind perry. Am I crazy to say it felt like the arena felt like it was split like 80-20 in favor of Jack? That’s what it seemed like from where I was.
Sounds about right, maybe like 70-30 at most but still it was a noticeable difference.
When this happened I laughed my ass off, couldn't believe it. Really hope they keep this momentum cuz could be huge
they will blow it the first chance they get
Why would you say that
Because this person doesn't watch the show and doesn't know better
I have tickets to Collision in Cincy/NKY, I'm praying to the gods that Jack shows up. I know he probably doesn't show until Dynasty, but I'm praying all the same.

My whole section was pro-Perry, it was a surreal crowd. He got the biggest reactions of the night by far.
I came in with zero expectations and only half-knowing what was on the show, and I'm so glad I did for this Jack Perry moment. Fuck CM punk.
Why the Punk hate? He was the only draw they had, and this nepobaby fucked that up for them.
Because he’s an egotistical, douchebag.
Bias much little homie? Like Perry is any fucking better 🤣.
If the duck goes into a fucking duck pond and has a bunch of smaller ducks relentlessly quacking at him the moment he enters the pond, I'd say it's not his fault he freaks out and chokes the smallest duck.
I’m glad but super surprised how supportive the crowd was of him considering it was Chicago of all places
Kinda like your average heavy metal fan reaction.
a straight up assaulter! lmao
What do you mean? Jack perry wasn't supposed to use real glass on a real rented car, used it then said "what are you gonna do about it? " he provoked punk?

I wonder if we can get ruckus working on an instrumental soundalike of ‘cry me river’…lyrically that song doesn’t really work, but like…it could work.
Lyrically Jane doesn't work either but still rocks for Orange
Also if you cut ahead to Timbaland bellowing “The damage is done so I guess I’ll be leaving” that *absolutely* works
Yeah I've said it'd have to be a cut up version to make it work
Remix Cry Me a River so the chorus comes after the intro, put the verse later in the track so it becomes a C part that only plays during extended entrances, and I think it would work.

Chicago, Orlando & San Juan?
Chicago, New York and Philly.
Philly are just assholes
Philly fans gotta hammer something
Yeah, this was what I was thinking. I'm from New Jersey, so we're definitely the smarkiest state, but for these purposes, we get split between New York and Philadelphia.
All it takes is Chicago starting it and then the rest will follow. Look at the Acclaimed chants.
Also the Meat chants at All Out.
i mean he could really make a run out of this especially if he bulks up a little more
and gets a personality.
That part’s done. This isn’t the Jack Perry that left AEW. He’s improved a lot.
I don't know if it will have been worth it, but it's not like airing it will have massive consequences beyond a week or so of fans mocking it online. So far?? It's been 3 days.
literally 0 ppv buys in 72 hours bro. it's OVER
Lol wrestling fans are fucking weird.
Yeah, this will definitely lead to a milly. E: What's the issue? Jack Perry is clearly a needle mover.
Honestly I didn't expect this reaction for Jack from Chicago no less. This is huge for him.
I honestly thought he would get booed out the building but that he'd have to deal with CM Punk chants. I really wasn't expecting such a positive response
GOOOOOO CRY ME A RIIIIIVER!
TK, it’s time to license that song. Scapegoat needs it. We all need it. ![gif](giphy|l4pThZyhCjDGJkjmM|downsized)
But but I thought the video was all for nothing and Jack would be laughed at and have no reaction and bought all of his own t-shirts
I regret not going to this show now. Tickets didn't seem too expensive and I don't know much about NJPW, but from all the clips ive seen so far, it looks like it was a fantastic show
Really was. They kill it every time they are in Chicago, would definitely recommend getting tickets next time.
What are they singing?
Sounds like "Ohhhh, cry me a river"
My fave JT song
Knowing what it's about, I don't like it
"OOOOOH CRY ME A RIVER"
The tune is Seven Nation Army. Can't make out the words, though. Edit: I stepped outside my loud ass job. I hear it now! 🤣
[https://twitter.com/DrainBamager/status/1778954967413567892](https://twitter.com/DrainBamager/status/1778954967413567892) this one is sick, he is actually getting cheered. Good for Jack
Time for fans to sing the entire Timberlake song back at him after an entrance.
If this was UK they wouldve sung the actual song complete with "cry me cry me" on the chorus
I wish they sung it like Justin Timberlake’s cry me a river
To paraphrase Bill Shakespeare: this is such stuff as pro-wrestling dreams are made on. I had chills for several portions of this match. I don't think this could have gone any more perfect as a showcase for Perry's new character following the footage drop.

I'm cool with heel Jack. But I want the swerve to be him joining heel BCC after dealing with Mox on this Japan tour. Turns on Elite in his debut as a mirror to the Adam Cole debut. I think him and Heel Yuta would be a solid tag team.
Oooof, you can't pair someone getting this heat with yuta
Eh. Yuta was getting over in his shithead heel characters before his injury.
Weird that they'd sing it to the tune of Seven Nation Army and not just the "Oh, Cry Me a River" part at the end of the actual song
I guess it would be also appropriate (but more difficult) to sing it to the tune of Tarzan Boy
First thing Jack Perry needs to do when he returns to AEW is beat the shit out of Tony Khan, who made him The Scapegoat.
I don't think fantasy booking is really your thing.
something something trouble in paradise's undertackers baby something something kofi kingston is the future of the company
Lights come back on, TWO pairs of boots in the ring
That shit would blow up like an Stone cold & Mr McMahon segment
This guy is Silvio Manfred Dante. A made man
[удалено]
He looks like post bo’lieve bo dallas with the beard ngl
This is so weird, why didn't they sing the Justin Timberlake song?
I honestly think the best way to bring Jack back is something with Christian. Heel or face there’s options there. Tying him to the Bucks will always keep people thinking about Punk, please do anything but that
Someone brought up that the office made Perry the scapegoat, the Bucks are part of the office. It'd make more sense if Perry went after the Bucks.
But they just released a promo sticking up for him and wearing his merch.
Go back to your trailer, or Go cry me a river? I'm totally hearing both. lol.
