For me it'll always be
They
Can't
Climb
Get above them!
Razzle them dazzle them!
Find a ledge and be up there, the heck are they gonna do?
A CLIMBING gloom hand???? Hyrule is decimated in two days.
I encountered them for the first time going up mount lanaryu and they killed me several times at first... They were too fast too run from so I climbed up a ledge above where they would spawn. They started getting near the ledge and I'm like oh God please tell me they can't climb..... It went on a bit longer and I saw they eventually went away and dropped stuff. Boy was I relieved.
Saved my ass when I went to the coliseum and found that gleeok instead of a lynel, that thing is bloody nuts with all the lasers but the berries stun it giving you time to hit the heads, no idea when it flys up though things just go crazy with trying to ride the air currents upwards and all the aoe. God I hate that thing went through all my fairies and a lot gear, probably my new enemy I just go nope to when I see it.
If I'm wrong I hope somebody corrects me, but water should do more damage AFAIK. Sadly there's not a water eyeball as far as I know, but chuchu jelly and splash fruits should work. There's a chance that the lightning gleeok is weak to fire and ice, just to a lesser degree, but I have no honest idea. If you can aim well enough, chuchu is likely the way to go.
Thanks for advice though, will definitely aim for a multishot bow next time got to admit wasn't expecting to be lasered to death when I tried fighting it XD
No problem! I always break out the big guns. Also, did some research, I assume it's the same here but in BotW lightning enemies had no extra resistances or weaknesses. They still take elemental damage, as normal enemies do, but nothing extra. So fire eyeballs still work!
There's a forest dweller bow that has a 5 round burst that doesn't spread, add an eye and it's almost an insta stun.
The only problem is I haven't found another of those bows yet. Probably korok forest.
I think it’s so funny how midgame i was able to casually flex on silver lynels (thanks, years of botw training and gibdo arrows) but the hands can still chaingrab me to death with little effort if i’m caught off guard.
Yeah, I don’t know if I’m trash at button mashing or just don’t understand the intended mechanics, but I get chain grabbed to death every time I can’t find a way to stun lock them or get above them.
I have managed to kill them in melee, without cheesing it or using fuse arrows. You can escape their grab early by rotating the joystick (just like escaping frozen status. The master sword works well here, because of the fast wide swings you can hit more than one after you're free. The sages can split their attention. You'll still probably get grabbed a couple times but its not that dangerous with the escape input.
Huh. Every time I used the escape input I basically slipped away for about two seconds before another hand got me. But I also stopped engaging them by the time I had the Master Sword and the full sage crew.
Fused master sword can kill them extremely quickly, so a few seconds is really all you need to counter attack and severely dwindle their health if not kill them outright. It's still very difficult to do without losing at least some health, which makes it not really worth it compared to blasting them to bits from range.
Oh I just like messing with those gloom hands. Bomb arrow, fire arrow, ice arrow, bomb arrow, lightning arrow - how ever you want to make the arrows is up to you.
I think I like lightning the most it’s retribution to see those hands go twitchy and paralyzed.
A good 1h with lightning works well too if you like living dangerously. One strat I haven’t tried is magic rods/staves
I feel like compared to botw this game is heavily focused on arrow attacks. I have so many more arrows and use them so much more in this game. So bomb arrows seems like the way you’re supposed to defeat them.
Yeah Lynels became a cake walk in BOTW and they became my main source of weapon farming.
These little bastards are a culmination of all of my nightmares and can burn in hell hahah
Definitely the way. I had pretty limited arrow supply when I needed to fight them the first couple times so I just threw the bombs by hand and that worked okay too. Lol
Wallmasters. The reminder is probably intentional, they feel like a new take on that enemy (which was there all the way back in the 86 OG, much like many other enemies who were reinvented on steroids for BOTW and TOTK. See also: Lynels, Gleeoks, Gibdos, Ganon himself)
They also remind me of those creepy things from under the well in Kakariko in OoT. They had jaws that unhinged. EDIT: [These guys, the dead hands!](https://www.zeldadungeon.net/wiki/Dead_Hand)
I'm at the point where I just destroy them in 10 seconds with bomb arrows, and then maul down Phanton Ganon in another 10 seconds with his own weapons I previously collected and fused to a Flux Construct core or Talus heart lol
Having 31 hearts helps, especially since Phantom Ganon's bows' attack scales with your number of hearts and he'll drop like 6 of them after you beat him "officially" as part of a main quest.
If you have enoigh stuff from caves, like the brightshroom, lightfish etc there is a npc in rito village that wil trade 3 brightshrooms for 10 arrows. Or 3 lightfish and another thing. She is located near the place where the shrine was in botw. Cheaper than buying arrows
Nah man, after you get the 5th sage, or the master sword (or really any high damage one handed sword) the become much easier, and also very vulnerable to the quick spin attack (rotate the control stick and swing the sword), Gleeoks on the other hand, they either burn, freeze or fry you almost instantly, and some times all three at once
Of all of the big monsters I have probably died to gleeoks the least.
Use whatever cover is available, set down a z spring, and pop them eyeballs with arrows while you slowfall. Rage on the heads until it gets up.
When it goes into phase 2, dodge until you get a solid opening and then pop the heads again, and so on.
I'm surprised you died to the other monsters more, I can on the regular take down every big monster except gleeok. Frox? It's a joke, Hinox? Too slow, Flux Construct? Ultrahand go brrr, Stalnox? Collapses on its own it seems, Talus? Boulder Breaker shatters rock
Just as a couple examples
When I say big monsters I basically just mean gleeoks, hands, phantom ganon, and lynels. Everything else is just a baby with a big health bar.
... although I will admit that I've probably died to some of the others you mentioned just because I got cocky and didn't want to use a hearty meal to recover until I was almost dead. Then I get hit with a Talus boulder. Cue game over screen.
Gloom hands I can understand, they are a pain in the ass. But Phantom Ganon I've never really had issue with (much rather fight 5 Phantom Ganons then a single gloom hand or Gleeok), I'd still say at least for me Gleeok>Gloom hands>Lynel>Phantom Ganon, but Gleeok also admittedly depends on the area, Bridge of Hylia? Fuck that shit, took me 6 tries, a fuck ton of arrows and keese eyes and a Lynel Bow. And even at 15 hearts, 21 armor I still die in 2 hits
I beat that gleeok when I had 6 hearts. Armor doesn't matter nearly as much as resistance to their element. What matters even more is just not getting hit. I used the arch as cover and ascend to get to the top for my arrow volleys. Arrows interrupt the beams, big boy go limp, I slice. When he does the big fireballs, use the updrafts to get on his level and arrow him again.
With phantom ganon my repeated deaths were really a matter of having to learn his moves and the choice to fight him with a 2H sword using dodge and flurry rush.
Hands just take you by surprise in early game, but again my go-to maneuver for them is to find a way to slowfall and arrow them to death. I keep at least 1-2 strong bows on me at all times to make sure these guys aren't able to give me guff.
Ah I'm guessing you primarily used 2 handed weapons when fighting? Which means we have 2 very different fighting styles, but Arrow Volleys are a solid strat
Nope. I just had a lot of 2H weapons at the time, and I like being well-rounded. Also, flurry rush is pretty effective against Ganondorf once you learn to dodge his attacks.
For gleeok, use opposite elemental keese eyeballs and lynel bows for the first phase, along with opposite elemental melee weapons. For the second phase, use opposite elemental keese wings instead of trying to fly up high. Easy work.
The hands are so awful, unless you cheese them, you can't get away from them to fight them. The other choice is to tank them with food items and a lot of hearts.
Bruh encountering those things is a total toss up. If I can fire a bomb arrow first? Easy win. If they manage to catch up to me and grab me? I’m probably not gonna win unless I’ve got a rocket-shield or it gets distracted by one of the avatars
First time I seen them was great. I miss the terrifying feels of the redead and hands from the ceiling. Hated them but they made the game scary. I'd love a bit of a scarier version of zelda. Ocarina of time forest temple poes would have been a great addition too.
Yeahhhh it what comes after the floor masters that's hard. I already fallen to him 10 times... I think, but gleeoks... ARE SO FUCKING HARD! I ONLY FOUGHT 1 AnD DiEd 5 times
Has anyone else tried standing their ground when the hands first spawn and headshoting them continuously? If you don't miss they pretty much freeze so it's like a shooting gallery. But if you miss, you're dead.
Managed to climb and hide from one. Started experimenting with arrows and what did more damage to them and managed to kill them. Then I got skyrimmed with the health bar of pure nope and have actively avoided them since.
For me it'll always be They Can't Climb Get above them! Razzle them dazzle them! Find a ledge and be up there, the heck are they gonna do? A CLIMBING gloom hand???? Hyrule is decimated in two days.

I learned that there were *somewhere* on the mountain. Luckily never saw them.
I just followed the path up and eventually encountered them. I guess you could call me lucky lol
Had to fight one in a shrine quest… the grabby boi aspect was the least of my worries… spoilers but it gets way worse- they evolve.
This was the first one I was able to defeat! The ice like like further up the road killed it for me lmao
This is what i do. But it feels so cheasy. Im still trying to find out what Nintendos intended way of dealing with them was.
Throw dazzle fruit to blind them, and shoot them each in the eyes before any hands regenerate and they'll die.
It's strange how I thought of dazzlefruit as well, yet I never had used them on any other enemies.
Mighty/savage Lynel bow + elemental keese eyeballs, destroy the heads in seconds each
Does the lightning one have a weakness? Ice and fire I can figure out but not sure on that one.
If I'm wrong I hope somebody corrects me, but water should do more damage AFAIK. Sadly there's not a water eyeball as far as I know, but chuchu jelly and splash fruits should work. Some high ground and about 5 bomb arrows right in the middle of all of them is how I usually deal with them.
Again. Thats what I said I do, but it feels cheesy
I just stab the shit out of them
bold of you to assume we survive for over 24 hours
This has been the only consistent strategy I’ve found to kill them tbh.
5 bombs work quickly and kills them all in unison so they don't regen
This is the way
I do use bomb arrows, but when I’m on the ground they just move too quickly for me to get clean, consistent hits.
Don't need the arrows. Prep with R, like you're gonna throw your weapon and push up on the d-pad to pull out bombs to throw
Meh, it’s easier and a lot less traumatic to just blow ‘em up from above right now. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I think it’s so funny how midgame i was able to casually flex on silver lynels (thanks, years of botw training and gibdo arrows) but the hands can still chaingrab me to death with little effort if i’m caught off guard.

I feel like you're pretty much supposed to do those two things. I don't think it's possible to avoid their deranged combo grab on even terms.
I have managed to kill them in melee, without cheesing it or using fuse arrows. You can escape their grab early by rotating the joystick (just like escaping frozen status. The master sword works well here, because of the fast wide swings you can hit more than one after you're free. The sages can split their attention. Spam bomby boom boom bombs on them
I’ve spent at least 20 bomb flowers defeating the hands, but refuse to use them on anything esle
Yeah Lynels became a cake walk in BOTW and they became my main source of weapon farming. These little bastards are a culmination of all of my nightmares and can burn in hell hahah
So true. Lynel muscle memory is still there, these guys though are awful.
You could apply the same meme to silver lynels and puffshrooms. But man, Ganondorf got hands.
“Damn, this gloom got hands”
These gloom hands are rated E for Everyone
My brother warned me when I saw them and I was like “nah I can take then” boy was I wrong
Bomb. Arrows. Go. Boom.
Definitely the way. I had pretty limited arrow supply when I needed to fight them the first couple times so I just threw the bombs by hand and that worked okay too. Lol
Some grabbie bois if you don’t know what the hell is happening
They really remind me of the hand enemy that would crawl on the ceiling in an older Zelda game, cant remember which but it was on ds
Wallmasters and/or Floormasters most likely.
Yes thank you I thought so ! I love when they do this, first time I came across one had me screaming the same as when I was a kid haha
They also remind me of those creepy things from under the well in Kakariko in OoT. They had jaws that unhinged. EDIT: [These guys, the dead hands!](https://www.zeldadungeon.net/wiki/Dead_Hand)
Way to often The Grabby hands
I drop bombs on those hands like it’s nuclear warfare. Those things aren’t touching me.
Once i got the master sword i ran in screaming and swinging. Im pretty sure i lived up to the triforce of courage at that time.
It's the same thing with the guardians: Scary as hell at the start, piece of cake at the end.
Make that “the physical embodiment of the spirit of the spirt of the hero WITH ARSON” and “some pyrophobic bois.”
Always have rocket shields to deal with these guys. Get that height to rain bombs down
I'm at the point where I just destroy them in 10 seconds with bomb arrows, and then maul down Phanton Ganon in another 10 seconds with his own weapons I previously collected and fused to a Flux Construct core or Talus heart lol Having 31 hearts helps, especially since Phantom Ganon's bows' attack scales with your number of hearts and he'll drop like 6 of them after you beat him "officially" as part of a main quest.

Gleeoks, >!especially king gleeoks!< make them look easy
Gloom hands are defeated by standing on a stool. They're not that tough.

I had 88 Armor and the Sky King Gleeok could still two shot me in his final phase. Obscene damage output.
Same experience. Gleeoks are big but they’re not as hard as they seem as long as you don’t get hit… which is somehow my specialty hahah.
those mfs learned tri attack
I only fought Ice Gleeok. Beat it after much effort but that was some FROMsoft shit. Final phase was fucking awesome tho.
For gleeok, use opposite elemental keese eyeballs and lynel bows for the first phase, along with opposite elemental melee weapons. For the second phase, use opposite elemental keese wings instead of trying to fly up high. Easy work.
Gloom hands only deal one heart of your max hp every 3-4 seconds, it becomes trivial once you have 20+ hearts imo.
These things killed me my first time seeing them on Mount Hebra. I haven’t died to them since.
Tbf the grabbers are extensions of the power of a god-tier demon's hatred given flesh *after* he amped up his power with a god-tier steroid
The hands are so awful, unless you cheese them, you can't get away from them to fight them. The other choice is to tank them with food items and a lot of hearts.

I think that’s why they freak me out—they give me the same creeps as the ReDeads, especially when they’re munching on your face, RIP.
BUT, who would win this one? Some Grabbie Bois, or a small ledge?
Yeahhhh it what comes after the floor masters that's hard. I already fallen to him 10 times... I think, but gleeoks... ARE SO FUCKING HARD! I ONLY FOUGHT 1 AnD DiEd 5 times
The Boys
I got an easy way to do things with that : bombs
My drone issued by Obama
bombs
These things scared the shit out of me the first time, they gave me deadhand flashbacks
Has anyone else tried standing their ground when the hands first spawn and headshoting them continuously? If you don't miss they pretty much freeze so it's like a shooting gallery. But if you miss, you're dead.
Question, does the one in the Great Deku Tree despawn?
i did catch those hands
First time I had a proper battle with them was in korok forest
Falling Rock enters the chat
Those guys hurt so bad!!!
It has become my tradition to say "oh shit the jazz hands are coming" every time these guys spawn in. Jazz hands are in fact very scary
Grabby bois. Every god damn time
The jazz hands. And by a lot. A volley of bomb arrows does the trick though.
Me when grabbie bois: tactical nuke inbound
I have bene beaten by them only First Time. No more. I Always have a Rocket shield and 6-7 bomb fruits for them <3
I just facetank them flailing about with my master sword It works 100% of the time
Those guys are usually dead after 2 bombs and 2 arrows
the worst is what is to defeat them phantom Ganon appears
Hands boy: noooo, you again?!?!? Link: hyah(sorry, but i need demon king's bows, ganondorf has a good taste for bows, indeed)
Me because I use my bomb flowers
Managed to climb and hide from one. Started experimenting with arrows and what did more damage to them and managed to kill them. Then I got skyrimmed with the health bar of pure nope and have actively avoided them since.
Sapphire wand go brrr
Everytime i saw them they scared the shit out of me
Bombs
Bombs win. Bombs kill both the hero and the floor trolls in one boom!
