I have concluded that cats like bathroom sinks because they smell like mint toothpaste. Mint and catnip are from the same family, so they are attracted to the smell.
There is ZERO science to this, it's just how I've rationalized it in my own mind.
Our Zoey is a cat burglar. When we have guests, she buries her nose in their handbags to see if they have mint gum. If they do, she steals it. It's amusing to guests, but worrisome for me since I don't want her ingesting gum. I have to watch her like a hawk and ask guests to make sure their bags are zipped closed if possible.

Lmao mine does too. She wasn’t hanging out in the sink but she was weirdly like, sleeping on the bath mat sometimes lol. There was a phase where if we were like “where is she?” It was 30% likely that she was just hanging out in the bathroom for some reason
Mine sits in the sink when she’s thirsty. Instead of using the water bowls located and scattered around the house, this is her preferred and only source of hydration.
Has she been doing this long? The way she is sitting makes me wonder if she has a UTI or crystals in her urine. My guy did this when he had crystals so he could tell me he didn’t feel good.
we've had her for about a year and she started doing around march this year! she's not peeing in it but i will make sure to be careful and to keep an eye on her! and im sorry about your baby i hope hes ok:(

There's probably something to that. Our cat is crazy over mint. We live in fear that she will gnaw on our toothbrushes while she's on the sink.

He did fine. Special food and he lived a healthy life until he got cancer and died at 16 years old.
