Well, there have been occasions when the miniature of the month has arrived alongside whatever the new release that week is (off the top of my head I think both the votann and cadian MOTMs were the same day that votann/cadian boxes released). BRB, off to read far too much into the new termagant being available on the 24th.
At the Edinburgh store the guy always says you’ve got to book an appointment to get the free model. Is that the same everywhere? My parental duties don’t allow me to make make the day they are scheduled for.
I’ve gotten the last two from Glasgow by just walking in at lunch time on a weekday and asking if it’s alright - different at busier times I guess like you say.
I’m down south and the guys in my local store are always happy to give me one when I pop in, even when I make it clear that I’m not trying to purchase, just peruse. Sometimes they actively remind me that there’s a new mini in for the month, so never an issue to grab one.
Don’t know if it’s a local thing or no but there’s usually an in store painting comp based around said miniature with the winners getting displayed in store and given a few hobby bits to boot
Stockholm used to be just ask for it but nowadays you have to build it in store and usually by the time I have enough spare time on a day, they are all gone
I live in Melbourne, Australia and the guy at the store nearest to me just says to show up whenever, though I usually phone him before going to make sure it’s still available. I’m guessing it may depend on the store, availability of the mini, and how busy it is
In Germany, you just walk in and ask for it. I just did it today, not realizing it's Age of Sigmar (I am super new to the hobby and just painted my first mini). However, I play orks and maybe I can even incorporate that mini somehow. xD
If the guy doesn't ask when you get there, which it kinda sounds like yours wouldn't. Worst case scenario, you can buy a pot of paint so you don't get hassled about a grab-and-go lol
Unfortunately, gatekeeper mentality extends further than just the players, and some store owners feel the need to "preserve the integrity of the game," so people just coming in for the free stuff and not paying are just contributing to some kind of problem (which extends to all kinds of stores, not just GW specifically). I've only met one guy like that, who was complaining about all the kids that come in to look without buying, and even if I wasn't just passing through, I wouldn't have ever gone there again.

The other half of the time he is out front smoking cigarettes. It’s crazy to me with how expensive Warhammer is and how big the IP is right now that GW would have such terrible customer service. And like I remember GW having great customer service and the employees being friendly and helpful.
The coins and the models usually come out on the same day, but the closer you make your first purchase to the first Saturday of each month the higher chance you have of getting a coin. They’re first come first serve and there are about 100 of them usually.
Ah dammit, the one time *I* make plans for the entire day, it's on the weekend with the free lizardman. Hopefully they'll still have em on Sunday, but if not, I guess I can just buy a box...haha
I wish there were a GW store within three hours' driving distance of where I live. I love my local independent retailer, but these free minis and coins look awesome

In Canada I just walk in and ask about it and am in and out within minutes. Most of the time I don’t even buy anything.
Glasgow store does that as well last time I just booked in person came back 15 minutes later to do it so i guess it just depends how busy they are.
