It's a basic starter model that GW gives out for free to new players (and uses for painted tutorials at Warhammer World, etc.). Basically any time they need a cheap/free giveaway. It's just a monopose basic Space Marine Intercessor.

stopie1

So how cheap could I get a full squad of 10 for?

RTGoodman

I mean, technically free if you visited enough stores, they had enough to give away, and you were willing to put in the time I guess.

I’m on my third battle honours now… I refuse to buy a carry case while I can get free ones

Dracon270

Eh, foam carry cases aren't great. They can rub the paint off minis over time.

TheCubanBaron

Never had that issue in close to 10 years.

stopie1

Even with varnish/ardcoat on? I may be buying first cases soon and would love the education.

Dracon270

That I'm not sure of. Personally, I use magnetized cases to make sure nothing moves or touches anything else.

Advanced_Hawk_349

You can get free carry cases? Tell us how oh great and powerful one.

ballpointpens1234

With the battle honours programme you get free things for completing activities. Complete 30 and it’s a free small case

Advanced_Hawk_349

Ah thank you

Timemaster0

I mean I’m sitting with like 10 atm, in addition to going to different stores my GW tends to get a bunch to give out whenever new paints are either about to come out or just came out.

ClaviusArbiter

Thanks for the answer! I guess they're so cheap and abundant on ebay because GW are *literally* giving them away. The base isn't just a standard black one so I wasn't sure if the model was special at all.

RTGoodman

> The base isn't just a standard black one It's because it's a push-fit model that doesn't require glue. Instead of a base you glue it to, the feet just slot into the holes in the base and it's ready to go.

Cosmicgamer2009

Gw give it out for free, and you can build it and paint it in store if you ask politely and say that you are a beginner.

Makem9

They did this with 3 stormcasts for me. When I told them I also used a detail brush for dry brushing. I got the look of shame as they taught me what a proper dry brush was. Edit: I technically got a revolted look from a GW corporate employee. Ive been put in painting jail for this.

BlackAndWhiteKat

7 month old comment, but GW brushes, and really 99% of brushes marketed as "drybrushes" are meh, cheap makeup brushes you can get cheap as hell at a dollar store are far better and far cheaper :)

Makem9

Oh no youre right, I learned this recently when I actually messed with a makeup brush by coincidence. I realized its similar to an artists fan brush and was like “wait this could dry brush..” Used it and it was a 1 for 1 purpose.

Meretan94

> its purpose? It’s the first hit, that’s always free. That’s how they get you hooked.

combatshotgun

In addition to giving them away at GW stores, you also get 10 of these in the Warhammer Alliance box, which is what they give away to teachers /other adult figures to start warhammer clubs. I actually had 20 of these at one point + a matching set of Stormcast eternals.

Bugaloon

This sprue is re-used a lot, it's given out by GW staff during painting classes to practice on and it's regularly attached to the "get into 40k" magazines they sell for $10, to name a few.

Robuk1981

There's a newer intro mag with a different marine and a necron too. If people want some variation.

CrusaderAxiom

Where are you seeing this for cheap? Ebay has them around 13 bucks

SirstouticusTheGreat

It’s a free miniature sprue

BastardofMelbourne

It's free.

SoloWingPixy88

You can get it for free in shops. It's a tester.

Unlikely_City_3560

I bought a box of these from a game store that ordered too many, I ended up with about 40 of em
