I mean, they both write pop melodies. They’re going to sound similar.

Heard this River Cuomo interview on NPR yesterday It talks about his he feel about music and his song writing approach Listen to: Rivers Cuomo On Weezer's Latest, 'OK Human,' And The Need To Riff (Or Not) - https://one.npr.org/i/962124558:962190272

I kind of noticed that, but it was only about half the album that was like that imo

That's why I liked it tbh. I liked that it sounded like a mix of Ben Folds and Sufjan Stevens with Weezer singing overtop

I think what you mean to say is: Ben is capable of writing better songs off the top of his head than weezer is willing to spend time writing, recording and releasing. Weezer is the definition of a diminishing returns rock band. With every new Weezer album, we stray further from God. Disclaimer: I only liked Weezer when Matt Sharp was in the band (records 1+2) and I firmly believe Ben can do no wrong.

I can hear that. I think the first track is a good example too. Reminded me also of A Working Day.
