This is also a good time to tell people to get a digital antenna. They cost $20-30. One time charge and you get all the major networks (ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC) plus some other random channels in crystal clear HD for free. Plug directly in to your TV
Yes this is just a retransmission of the the antenna broadcasts. I have a big antenna pointing directly at the towers. The signals are a lot weaker than they used to be and most people would not actually get very many channels. This is why I am retransmitting.
Also maybe you aren’t near a tv and just have phone when you want to watch.
Yeah, people like you is who this app is for not people who already have antenna access. WiFi works better than the tv station broadcast for some people.
This is why this is good news to me... no cable. At least this one area of my life in which something like a simple rabbit ear type antenna saves me hundreds every year.

100 miles is like a good day with clouds to bounce off of . This is why when we were kids we got new stations when the weather was bad
Hey guys I’ll be broadcasting the NBA Finals Game 5 on my fambase tonight free. Come by and hang with us in the chat.

Three volunteers (only one engineer - me) and a shoe string budget of close to zero. Making a new service that’s still in testing. iOS is much easier to test with because there is basically only one iOS version a very very small set of different hardware. It helps that is the us it’s about 70% of users and when you skew younger into the 20s it’s close to 90%
Yup making an app for an OS which has at least 60% US phone market share is extremely shortsighted. Especially in a wealthy city like Boston where it’s more like 75%. Dumb decision.
What a dumb comment. If you have a bunch of rich cunts that are "wealthy" they can afford TVs. iPhone does not have a 75% market share in Boston. Walk around the city where people live, ride the T, you won't see it.
Creating an app instead of a website limits the functionality. If you have a website that runs in a web browser, all the world's devices can access it. Given the fact that sports are the most popular thing which people use televisions for it would seem like people prefer to be able to access sports streams on better devices than a phone.
If you ride the T or commuter rail every day like I did you will see more than 75% market share. I pretty much never see Android. Just google smartphone market share by state you can easily look up this data. Even OP said that it’s like 90% amongst young users which I didn’t realize.
There’s a reason why developers (especially nascent ones) in the US nearly always prioritize iOS - the fact you don’t realize this is pretty hilarious and that you know nothing about development. Of course if anyone had a choice they would develop for all devices at once but that’s not always feasible.
An HTML5 website would run on all devices without hassle, and then you're troubleshooting a web browser instead of an app, and you're completely ignoring the fact that watching sports on a 5" screen is a trash experience.

Have you tried smoking METH, I've seen some STREAMS on the ole .COM and it seems fun.
Yes!!!!! 😎
GOAT

That sounds like a SPORT-ing idea. The SURGE into the finals will .NET a stream of good times.
I often use THE STREAM to watch my favorite EAST teams play with a chance to go .TO the finals. I bookmark my favorite URLS to access them easily.

Whenever i’m watching the NBA, i always get hungry for a BITE to eat. i wish there was a website with a many options to help me COMe to a decision.

Mine skips almost all the time and becomes slower than the free streams

I don't get all the channels in the mountains.
You're a good man (or woman) for this. I don't need it, but I appreciate the PSA for those that do.
Thanks. Please let others know .

It's on ABC so an antenna is all you need.
This is why this is good news to me... no cable. At least this one area of my life in which something like a simple rabbit ear type antenna saves me hundreds every year.
And live near the antenne. Many of us don’t. Rabbit ears do nothing in my area.
TIL I’m way closer to Boston than I thought.
With the power of VPN… ANYTHING IS POSSIBLEEEEEEEE
This app uses your gps location. VPN won’t work
Did you say there’s an Apple TV app? Apple TV vpn should work. Let’s me bypass MLB which is also gps
You can also stream them for free if you aren’t within 100 miles of
what if im thousands of miles away
ABC is also available via digital antenna.
Heroic. I’ve been using METH lol.
i will test this when the time comes, if i can do this, i can get started on pausing my youtube tv a month in advance lol
You should set it up now so you have it working before you need it

Hey fuck northern New englanders we aren't real Celtics fans anyways... Cmon just give it to all of New England.
It only works if you are within range of the Tv signals. The curvature of the earth means that this does not work beyond around 100 miles.
Lmao, this sounds both like a lie and completely believable.

Thanks for explaining it to me. Appreciate it.
You’re awesome for sharing this!
Thank you so much. You should repost this again if by chance we lose tonight.

What's the point of this? This is only for Apple users and no desktop/Android? Seems extremely limiting.

I’m not saying it’s a good experience, but that’s not a limitation since you can just cast to a big screen
