I think two had some interesting potential, but never hit the scale and feel it was going for - it always middled just around first to third draft territory and couldnāt figure out how to elevate the dialogue and the acting and the character writing and world building to the point they clearly wanted it to be at.
Third one stripped things WAY back and I really dug the first half of the movie - I honestly canāt remember a thing that happens after that though. But riddick silently using creative ways to survive a planet he gets dropped off on to die, a planet thatās supposed to be inhospitable, and he rises to the top of the food chain through pure will and ingenuity? Dope.
If the new one finds a balance between the two - the lore building and the simplicity of its concepts - this could be a cool project. But making a character like Riddick be something mythological can really backfire because he is a fundamentally blunt character
I think the first is generally seen as good sci fi horror (i think itās a little boring) but the rest is over the top campy action sci fi & itās awesome. Even the anime & video game.
Escape from Butcher Bay was like crack to me. The Riddick universe has so much lore and world-building behind it that Iām surprised Universal didnāt just continue to make low-budget entries for some low-key cash flow.
I was gonna mention that remaster on the 360. Unfortunately, it didnāt get the backwards compatibility treatment on new consoles. Maybe the new movie will finally get us a new game, or a proper remake.
he's a spry 56! this is hollywood, they'll just plaster him in makeup and digital doubles for at least 4-5 more years before they can't hide he's a grandpa anymore
[He wants you to do an anonymous survey, but could you just write down your name at the bottom so he knows who it's from?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o6-gXxc7Jbw)
Fast 11 was pushed back because they literally have to fit another movie between X and 11.
Hobbs and Reyes will likely come out next year and its probably not a good idea to have 2 Fast movies in a year.
How tf are they resolving the cliffhanger then? Diesel doesn't want Momoa coming back for 11 and wants an original villain. Hobbs and Reyes was made to fill in that gap.
Since Fast 11 apparently has a new, original villain, the cliffhanger will probably get resolved in Hobbs and Reyes and that doesn't even have a director attached, let alone a filming date yet.
Turns out it's a Transformers and Riddick movie setup on a post apocalyptic earth. The third act is going to have a couple of kids bust out of the earth to save Scrapyard Optimum Prime on a giant robotic head screaming about drilling the sky.
So just to clarify it goes:
1) Pitch Black
2) The Chronicles of Riddick
3) Riddick
4) Riddick: Furya
Love a series that just can't stick to a naming convention.
>Vin Diesel will suit up again as Richard B. Reddick this summer. The āFast and Furiousā star is set to begin production on āRiddick: Furya,ā the fourth installment of the āRiddickā franchise, on Aug. 26.
>The film, which follows 2000ās āPitch Black,ā 2004ās āThe Chronicles of Riddickā and 2013ās āRiddick,ā will shoot in Germany, Spain and the U.K.
>In āRiddick: Furya,ā Riddick finally returns to his homeworld, a place he barely remembers and one he fears might be left in ruins. But there, he finds other Furyans fighting for their existence against a new monster ā and some of these Furyans are more like Riddick than he could have ever imagined.
Didnāt the director of Fast 11 just say they were starting production on that one this year on September 16th? No way these two will be overlapping, so I guess Fast 11 is being pushed more. If it does come out in Summer 2026 though, they donāt really need to start shooting until next Spring
I'll absolutely watch this. Guilty pleasure franchise.
But still poses the question...who is this for and why was it greenlit? Is he self financing? Pitch Black was 2000, Chronicles of Riddick was 2004, and Riddick was 2013. So this might come out mid to late 2025 or early 2026? Riddick grossed $42M domestic, $94M worldwide.
Love me the Riddick franchise!! I really wanted to see the sequel to chronicles of riddick about conquering other planets and falling out of favor by the end which would lead to the beginning of 3 where the Necros tried to kill him.
"It's the Vin Diesel pyramid scheme; he makes Fast & The Furious movies to fund Riddick movies to pay for The Last Witch Hunter sequels." Ahhh, RIP Funhaus
It was called Return to Furya for a while. The current title could be a placeholder, like how the script for Riddick 2013 had the subtitle Dead Man Stalking.
Chronicles bombed while the other two movies were modest successes, so that's just about the worst thing they could do. Sticking to mid-budget space horror is the only thing that has worked for this franchise.
Seems pretty overdue based off of how many F&F movies he's made since Riddick. Unless he cashed in that chip to make that movie about his D&D character.
Sick š„ guilty pleasure franchise
Iāll be honest, thereās no guilt to be fans of the first two films right? The last movie was mid but I thought first two were well received.

First one is a good horror movie. Second is a good baroque WH40K adaptation. The genre are vastly different which give a lot of people whiplash
Iām with you , want to see where it goes!
Great to see [Dick Butt Riddick](https://twitter.com/FunhausArchive/status/1771184709613101408) back in action

That just links back to this threadĀ
Hell yeah these movies are sick. Love how insane chronicles is.Ā
My favorite part of this franchise is the video games. Theyāre some of the best movie based game adaptations ever made.
His video game company too
Escape from Butcher Bay was like crack to me. The Riddick universe has so much lore and world-building behind it that Iām surprised Universal didnāt just continue to make low-budget entries for some low-key cash flow.
Yeah, Iāve always thought the franchise was underrated. I hope the new movie does well at the box office.
Insane that Butcher Bay hasnāt been re released. I would buy it in a second
You mean re-re-released. There was a remaster of Butcher Bay with Dark Athena on the PS3/XB360 generation.
Thatās like a hundred years ago !
I was gonna mention that remaster on the 360. Unfortunately, it didnāt get the backwards compatibility treatment on new consoles. Maybe the new movie will finally get us a new game, or a proper remake.
Iām amazed that he is able to keep making theseĀ
he's a spry 56! this is hollywood, they'll just plaster him in makeup and digital doubles for at least 4-5 more years before they can't hide he's a grandpa anymore
Donāt they cgi his double chin out of filmsĀ
He was looking very hefty in the last FF
He only makes Fast and Furious to make Riddick movies so that Riddick can pay for Last Witch Hunters
[He wants you to do an anonymous survey, but could you just write down your name at the bottom so he knows who it's from?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o6-gXxc7Jbw)
You mean his Hannibal films?
I miss old school Funhaus, rip
Iām not. He literally owns the franchise.
Is Furya the grandson of Furiosa? Where does Nick Fury feature in this?
Some one has to drive the tank. ![gif](giphy|6rJFzjeX3Aaty)
So thatās why Fast 11 got pushed back to 2026
Or the twist isā¦The Fast and the Furya.
Fast 11 was pushed back because they literally have to fit another movie between X and 11. Hobbs and Reyes will likely come out next year and its probably not a good idea to have 2 Fast movies in a year.
i dont think that movie is even still happening lol
The crew was spared from the pee bottles
How tf are they resolving the cliffhanger then? Diesel doesn't want Momoa coming back for 11 and wants an original villain. Hobbs and Reyes was made to fill in that gap.
Since Fast 11 apparently has a new, original villain, the cliffhanger will probably get resolved in Hobbs and Reyes and that doesn't even have a director attached, let alone a filming date yet.
Yeah Iām wondering where Hobbs and Reyes fits into everything
Vin Diesel finally turning in another good performance and not mumbling and grunting his way through a Fast movie will be nice to see.
Wait, is this the Riddick-Fast & Furious crossover or the Riddick-Mad Max crossover.
Donāt forget the rumors of the Fast and the Furious - Mad Max Crossover.
so what is that fnf 100?
The Last of the Furious. Not my idea, originated because of some artwork of an old Vin Diesel.
The Fast and the Furiosa
Turns out it's a Transformers and Riddick movie setup on a post apocalyptic earth. The third act is going to have a couple of kids bust out of the earth to save Scrapyard Optimum Prime on a giant robotic head screaming about drilling the sky.
I have an irrational love for these movies. Iām excited for this
So just to clarify it goes: 1) Pitch Black 2) The Chronicles of Riddick 3) Riddick 4) Riddick: Furya Love a series that just can't stick to a naming convention.
5.Riddick: Too Fast to Furya
6. Watch Out! Riddickās Cominā Furya.
7. Furya Eyes Only
>Vin Diesel will suit up again as Richard B. Reddick this summer. āWait, his name is Dick Riddick?ā
[Dick Butt Riddick](https://twitter.com/FunhausArchive/status/1771184709613101408)
Loved Chronicles of Riddick. Can't believe it released in 2004. Whew.Ā
Outside of the elephant in the room surrounding Diesel, this is a decade late
Speaking of elephants, how come no one's asking him about Hannibal? It's two decades at this point.
Denzel Washington will play Hannibal now
Wait what is the elephant in the room with Diesel? Does he have some sort of controversy or is it just that he's known as a diva?
https://www.rollingstone.com/tv-movies/tv-movie-news/vin-diesel-denies-sexual-assault-allegations-court-filing-1234995477 It is awful allegations
O wow I never heard about this one!
Didnāt the director of Fast 11 just say they were starting production on that one this year on September 16th? No way these two will be overlapping, so I guess Fast 11 is being pushed more. If it does come out in Summer 2026 though, they donāt really need to start shooting until next Spring
I love how passionate he is about Riddick.
Yes!!!!!!
I'll absolutely watch this. Guilty pleasure franchise. But still poses the question...who is this for and why was it greenlit? Is he self financing? Self-financing most likely. IIRC, he had to take out loans and mortgage his house to even get the 2013 one made.
This franchise is probably my favorite thing vin diesel has done. The video games were really fun and the movies range from good to meh.
Loved The Chronicles Of Riddick(2004)
pitch black my fav
Love me the Riddick franchise!! I really wanted to see the sequel to chronicles of riddick about conquering other planets and falling out of favor by the end which would lead to the beginning of 3 where the Necros tried to kill him.
What's a Furya?
The planet Riddick's been from since Chronicles of Riddick.
His home planet.
Family
Finally!
"It's the Vin Diesel pyramid scheme; he makes Fast & The Furious movies to fund Riddick movies to pay for The Last Witch Hunter sequels." Ahhh, RIP Funhaus
We need a direct sequel to Assault on Dark Athena.
i wish we could get Pitch Black prequel, i want to know what happened to those geologists
Feel like he looked rather bloated in fast 11 it was sad
That's really what they're calling this? Bit on the nose, isn't it?
Riddick has been a Furyan from Furya for over 20 years...
It was called Return to Furya for a while. The current title could be a placeholder, like how the script for Riddick 2013 had the subtitle Dead Man Stalking.
They've been building up his return to his planet of Furya since the second movie. The title is just signifying that they're paying that off.
This shit better be similar to Chronicles. The last movie was okay at best
Chronicles bombed while the other two movies were modest successes, so that's just about the worst thing they could do. Sticking to mid-budget space horror is the only thing that has worked for this franchise.
Financially yes. Chronicles was actually interesting though I wonāt be watching if itās like the last one
Sweet
The original Pitch Black film is a masterpiece.
I actually really like this series. Iāve always thought the lore of riddick was interesting
I donāt even like the Riddick movies, yet the fact that thereās always gas in this franchiseās tank fills me with joy for some reason.
Didnāt Vin get cancelled after the sexual assault claim?Ā Howād he get out of that? Edit: Nevermind I found it. Sheās not a white lady.
Seems pretty overdue based off of how many F&F movies he's made since Riddick. Unless he cashed in that chip to make that movie about his D&D character.
But why
