[[Wojnarowski] DeMar DeRozan will sign a three-year, $70 million-plus deal to join the Kings, sources tell ESPN.](https://twitter.com/wojespn/status/1809774483256889466)
There is a lot of words to type about frustration & praise, but overall it should just be saying āThank you DeMarā. He brought his best to the court, for his teammates, and for saying weird quotes to describe situations š Thank you DeMar
When I think back to this era of the Bulls, my second thought after "Curse the Lonzo injury forever" will be "Damn, DeRozan made some *clutch* buckets for us"
I totally forgot about that. And then he came back on a 10 day a few years later. I know it didnāt really work in the NBA for him, but he couldāve at least been a big body for a bit.
Duarte is on the last year of his contract. At worst he continues to suck while we rebuild and is gone after the season.
At best he miraculously turns into something and is a restricted free agent.
If we hold on to Zach and Lonzo actually plays he might even get waived. He'd likely be behind Zach, Lonzo, Coby, Giddey, Ayo, Jevon, and probably at least one of Terry/Craig (if not both) on the depth chart. Not a whole lot of minutes left after everyone else eats their fill.
Would have been nice to get our first back from San Antonio but they're not that stupid.
At this point we pretty much have to keep Zach. He has no trade value.
Run the offense thru him, build his trade value up, & let the young'uns grow. He'll look a lot better when he's getting way more reps and someone will be interested at the trade deadline.
Spurs did nothing but take the second best player in the trade and were rewarded with a first round pick..must be nice to have an org thinking about building a winner
Wait we get Duarte? I read it as Duarte and Barnes to SA, and we get two second round picks and cash
Lol gotta love getting downvoted for asking a question š
Yeah, I just saw the news and was trying to work it out in my headā¦.my initial thought was thatās barely anything, but then remembered he was a FA, so a couple lotto tickets is better than literally nothing.
Good to get two seconds cuz we barley have any
Duarte is not good but wing depth I guess. I canāt even say he has potential though. Heās already 27.
I know youāre joking, but the funny thing is we still wouldāve regardless. Atlanta collapsed hard when Trae went down, Toronto blew it up and Brooklyn was ass to the point where we had the 9 seed locked up regardless of what trades we made. (As long as we didnāt make ourselves Pistons level bad)
Idk. There wasn't a big market for DDR. Like it seemed like a protected back end 1st for DDR was unlikely.
I think they got close, if not more, than they could have gotten at the deadline.
Iāll miss DeMar :(
He was one of my favorites in the league before he got here, and it was awesome seeing him in a Bulls uniform. Total pro while he was here too. I wish him the best.
Not a bad return considering he couldāve left for nothing. Duarte has continuously lost minutes since his rookie year but wonder if he can do more if given a larger role here and 2 2nds is more than I expected
Best of luck to Deebo for the rest of his career, dude balled out here and unfortunately the Lonzo injury derailed any chance of remotely competing
Those rumors will definitely continue but nobody wants them. Kings were one of the last teams in on Lavine but this takes that away and most teams donāt want a big like Vuc in the modern NBA especially for 20 a year. Just sad that players with real value recently have been held on to the point where thatās their value across the league(even Demar considering what we couldāve gotten before) but at least now they realize the direction they are going
Yeah, Duarte had a great rookie year. He'll get more minutes here and maybe it'll pay off.
Personally, not a fan of DeMar's fit in Sacramento. Sabonis plays inside like Vuc and Fox needs the ball in his hand like Zach. They have more shooting around them I guess
Absolutely loved DeMar. Yeah he had his flaws but he gave his max effort every single time he took the floor and played basically every single game when available. Thatās saying something when some players around the league like to take their nights off.
Happy for DeMar but I have a gut feeling the Kings could suffer from early onset LaVine/Vuc/Demar syndrome, hope Iām wrong. Fox and Sabonis are certainly better than Zach/Vuc but itās not a dissimilar structure. Either way, happy he got paid, one of my favorite Bulls.
Edit: should also say Keegan is better than P Will will ever be so maybe itāll work!
Yea idk about the fit either. Fox is like Zach but needs the ball even more and is a worse shooter and then Sabonis and Vuc are basically the same player on offense expect Sabonis has the ball in his hands more running the offense, and doesnāt shoot the 3. Theyāre better players overall but it almost seems like a worse fit in theory lol weāll see
We didn't have to lose a pick and we get money? Wow. AKME putting in the work this year.
Thank you for all the memories and mentorship for the young Bulls, DeMar ššš
Unless Zach and Vuc both return to prime form we'll be bad enough to tank even with both of them sticking around, I think. Moving demar was the most necessary step since he's a significantly more impactful floor raiser
Time here wasnāt very long but it was impactful. Thank you for everything DeMar. Iāll continue supporting you in Sacramento and wherever else you end up. Hope the kings get your farther than we could
Deal seems fine? I can understand not being happy because the FO should've blown it up earlier for maximum asset management, but they didn't, so it is what it is. DeMar was great on the Bulls, I enjoyed watching him.
One of the best closers in the game. Havenāt seen a bull pull off what demar was able to since mj.
I also think he adjusted his game to help the team. Main reason his heroics werenāt the same as when he first joined the bulls. Hate to see him go, but know itās necessary.
I wonder if itās awkward during negotiations when our front office gets asked what they want for a player, and they have to respond that the main focus is cash for the owner.
Was one of my favorite players in the league before he was a Bull, but didnāt like the signing for what we were becoming. But he blew my and everyoneās expectations out the water.. we got prime Deebo. Great player and great guy. His run here was special š«”ā¤ļø
With that said, Iām really exited that heās gone and we can finally play a different brand of basketball. Itās time to get modern baby!!!!!!
To say Iām grateful as a fan is an understatement. Thank you for kicking ass when it was necessary. Thank you for always supplying the professional and mature response to the wins and losses. Thank you for never getting injured and sticking to the secure starting 5 of the team. Iāll always respect him for going out each and every night and trying his best. He helped other players become better and had the mindset of āfuck youā which goes a long way in sports. Iāll be watching Sacramento when I canāt watch the Bulls. What a great player.
This offseason is going about as well as I could have hoped.
Main downside so far is the one team who seemed to have interest in Lavine is out of the running, probably stuck with him this season at least.
Wondering when these Kings picks are. Bulls don't have any 2nd round picks until 2028 so it would be nice to have sooner assets.
That said, like most of the 2nd round picks this draft got traded so I guess maybe as assets you could still trade them if they are like 2028 and 2029, for instance.
At least the Bears will be entertaining this year. I hope Chicago can send a message to the Bulls org this season by tanking attendance numbers at the UC.
It is very Bulls to reject the unprotected pick swap if it means paying the tax. This team has not been in contention for almost a decade and it will be for another. Jerry is a cheapskate.
I appreciate his time in Chicago. Another all star talent wasted by horrible management. As for the return getting 2 2nds back is nice, Duarte is whatever. Letās hope Vooch is next
Thank you Deebo.
Im surprised we got that good of a hual in a imminent DeMar departure.
I hope DeMar would be in a good place. He passed on a $80M two year extension. Ended up with $70M guaranteed. I read $59M for two years then likely $11M partially guaranteed on third season.
Got his jersey 2 days ago when I found out he is going. Good thing was discounted and paid extra 20bicks to add his sig to the jersey number. Can't wait for summer to wear it here
I bet Jerry asked if he could get more cash if we didnāt take the picks.
Thanks and good luck Demar. One of my favourite Bulls ever. Nothing but class.
The ācashā pisses me off to no end. Doesnāt go towards the cap, doesnāt go towards facilities, just more cash in our loser ownerās pocket. 38-42 and a play-in game loss incoming. Groundhog Day all over again
Itās a routine throw in, it has nothing to do with the return. You were never gonna get a 1st round pick in a sign and trade for a 35 year old unrestricted free agent
[[Wojnarowski] DeMar DeRozan will sign a three-year, $70 million-plus deal to join the Kings, sources tell ESPN.](https://twitter.com/wojespn/status/1809774483256889466)
Thanks for the memories. Kept us relevant and was a great vet to our youngins š«” KING OF THE FOURTH
His back to back New Years Eve game winning 3 pointers are some of my favorite Bulls memories š
All time Bulls moment. I remember I was at the hospital getting tested for Covid streameasting the NYE GAME š
Streameast has saved me thousaaaaands.
My girls balled their eyes out when I told them Demar is gone. He had a big impact during his short stint. Will always love Demar
KING OF THE FOURTH!
Thank you demar
This. Thank you for bringing your best you everyday.
There is a lot of words to type about frustration & praise, but overall it should just be saying āThank you DeMarā. He brought his best to the court, for his teammates, and for saying weird quotes to describe situations š Thank you DeMar
When I think back to this era of the Bulls, my second thought after "Curse the Lonzo injury forever" will be "Damn, DeRozan made some *clutch* buckets for us"
Cash considerations makes his glorious return.
Those second round picks are going to be juicy trade assets for more cash considerations.
I'll never forget when the Bulls sold Jordon Bell for $3.5M.
Best trade Reinsdorf ever made according to himself probably
I totally forgot about that. And then he came back on a 10 day a few years later. I know it didnāt really work in the NBA for him, but he couldāve at least been a big body for a bit.
That was so overblown at the time, Bell never turned into anything
He was a useful role player on a championship team. The bigger problem is that the Bulls would rather get cash than try to find a useful player.
How do we not get any firsts for AC or Demar? Anybody?
Keeping the White Sox vending machines filled the rest of the year
I imagine one full vending machine is at least a year's supply for them.
People not going to Sox games also keeping those vending machines filled.Ā
Glad to see him finish his career in Chicago
Finish? He's just getting started!
MVP MVP MVP!
Cash rules everything around AKME
yeah and that 2nd pick is going to be cash. fk jerry.
Got my $3.5 mil shirt ready to go!
Duarte and two 2nd rounders for an unrestricted free agent is a great haul
Donāt forget cash. Reinsdorf isnāt doing a deal unless thereās cash coming back
![gif](giphy|8RuJ23GPbruW4)
Duarte is not good. I doubt he will crack the rotation. Letās see what the seconds are.
These are the types of guys you take a flyer on in a rebuilding year. Rather have this than some 35 year old journeyman.
It's better than having Derozan leave on a free so ill take it
Heās atleast an average 3pt shooter. Thatās already better than everyone except Coby and Ayo lol
Pat shoots 40 percent from 3.Ā
If he plays
And if heās confident enough to shoot. Weāve become so enamored by 3FG% but 3PA is so damn important in that eval.
His career 3-point % is 3% under league average lol, bulls had 6 better guys than that last year
Yeah. Thatās why we got him.
Who cares, we don't have a second till 2046
Wasn't he like good his rookie year? I swear I remember him at least being serviceable.
2nd round picks are basically whatās currently sitting in my garbage can waiting to be placed at the curb.
Agree, and a 17mil TPE (if we use it) I'm pretty pleased overall
Narrator: They didnāt use it.
Imagine dealing him at the deadline so we could of gotten the most out of dealing him
Iāll just pay attention to the two draft picks because Duarte sucks
Yeah an actual rare win by this FO
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Tell me which lottery bound team goes to the tax lol
Spurs did nothing but take the second best player in the trade and were rewarded with a first round pick..must be nice to have an org thinking about building a winner
Wait we get Duarte? I read it as Duarte and Barnes to SA, and we get two second round picks and cash Lol gotta love getting downvoted for asking a question š
No we get Duarte
I read it the same at first. Woj skipped an Oxford comma
Yeah, I just saw the news and was trying to work it out in my headā¦.my initial thought was thatās barely anything, but then remembered he was a FA, so a couple lotto tickets is better than literally nothing.
Is cash going to start or come off the bench?
Traded for Goods, shit role player
Traded for many peanuts
Good to get two seconds cuz we barley have any Duarte is not good but wing depth I guess. I canāt even say he has potential though. Heās already 27.
spurs made out bandits they stole a top 10 pick then swap from kings from demar deal.
They still have to renounce one for the Lonzo tampering right?
Nah they already docked our 2022 one for that
Ah ok.
CASH!
We were high in him in the draft. Now we got our guy!
Glad we were able to at least recoup 2 seconds for him. Gonna miss the King of the Fourth. š«”
A backup guard and two 2nd rounders is an okay return
For a free agent who could've just walked away, I'd say it's great. Probably could've gotten a better deal at last year's trade deadline, though.
But then we never would have made the play-in. (/s in case it wasnāt obv)
Demar is a true pro. 2 of his former teams helping him get more money.
Haven't thought about that, wow. He helped the Spurs with a pick and got the Bulls some cash. They made the deal happen, that's love on both sides.
kendrick told us lmao
LOVE YOU DEMAR!
Iāll miss DeMar :( He was one of my favorites in the league before he got here, and it was awesome seeing him in a Bulls uniform. Total pro while he was here too. I wish him the best.
Not a bad return considering he couldāve left for nothing. Duarte has continuously lost minutes since his rookie year but wonder if he can do more if given a larger role here and 2 2nds is more than I expected Best of luck to Deebo for the rest of his career, dude balled out here and unfortunately the Lonzo injury derailed any chance of remotely competing
Funny how up until this week the rumors have been heavily about Zach and Vuc getting shipped.
Rooting for DeMar that dude deserves it.
Favorite bull since Derrick
Massive W
Fuck it for Flagg
Thank you demar š«” Low key love the Duarte flyer, why not
Yeah, Duarte had a great rookie year. He'll get more minutes here and maybe it'll pay off. Personally, not a fan of DeMar's fit in Sacramento. Sabonis plays inside like Vuc and Fox needs the ball in his hand like Zach. They have more shooting around them I guess
Cause he sucks. Guess itās a body though. Really think theyāre dumping Zach lol. These 2nd wonāt be here long boys
Absolutely loved DeMar. Yeah he had his flaws but he gave his max effort every single time he took the floor and played basically every single game when available. Thatās saying something when some players around the league like to take their nights off.
To get anything for a UFA is a good deal.
so what did the spurs give up? do they just get a free player lol
Took on salary the bulls didn't want
These breaking trade stories definitely need to come with more information, lol
not one but TWO SECOND ROUND PICKS!!
Hey NBA used to go to 7 rounds in 1985.
THERES 5 CASH CONSIDERATIONS OUT THERE!
Better than he will ever be is insane glazing lol
Yea idk about the fit either. Fox is like Zach but needs the ball even more and is a worse shooter and then Sabonis and Vuc are basically the same player on offense expect Sabonis has the ball in his hands more running the offense, and doesnāt shoot the 3. Theyāre better players overall but it almost seems like a worse fit in theory lol weāll see
Both are better and more willing passers which i think k should help
Duarte seems like Denzel valentine 2.0
Thank you, DeMar! Good luck in Sacramento! I will always root for you!
Demar has jumped into my top 10 favorite players from his time with the Bulls. Best of luck in Sac-town my sweet Prince.
no huerter tho
The bulls already said they don't want salary
We didn't have to lose a pick and we get money? Wow. AKME putting in the work this year. Thank you for all the memories and mentorship for the young Bulls, DeMar ššš
Let the tanking begin
To me the tank doesnāt start until two of the mid 3 are gone. For now itās still ālight rebuildā mode for me
Unless Zach and Vuc both return to prime form we'll be bad enough to tank even with both of them sticking around, I think. Moving demar was the most necessary step since he's a significantly more impactful floor raiser
We tank?
King of the fourth š
This is the best case scenario going in to the offseason. Something to celebrate!!
Good luck, DeMar.
Unrelated to Bulls talk, I really like Harrison Barnes and CP3 as veterans in the room with Wemby. He's gonna learn a lot this year.
Now we just gotta get rid of Zach and Vooch. Then we can finally tank
Now Paw can finally get some reps in at the SF slot consistently hopefully
Goodbye to the best player we'll see for awhile
Two second rounders and an expiring? Smart move by the FO.
Despite everyone bitching about this dude in the game threads I will always love Demarās Bulls tenure
Go get em Deebo š«”
I'll always root for him and wear his jersey. Good luck Demar
Hey not bad
what happened to duarte since his rookie season?
Time here wasnāt very long but it was impactful. Thank you for everything DeMar. Iāll continue supporting you in Sacramento and wherever else you end up. Hope the kings get your farther than we could
If there are not protections on the 2nd round, that's actually nice.
Good.
DeMar was too good for the Bulls era that he played in. Hope he has success.
Great trade. Now time to boot Levine š
We should reboot lavine you mean.
Deal seems fine? I can understand not being happy because the FO should've blown it up earlier for maximum asset management, but they didn't, so it is what it is. DeMar was great on the Bulls, I enjoyed watching him.
Looks like I have to pick a new favorite Bull. Is Dalen Terry still on the team?
Back to irrelevancy š¢š¢
Damn we're gonna be so ass this year. Poverty franchise
One of the best closers in the game. Havenāt seen a bull pull off what demar was able to since mj. I also think he adjusted his game to help the team. Main reason his heroics werenāt the same as when he first joined the bulls. Hate to see him go, but know itās necessary.
Cash considerations! Jerry always gets his man.
I wonder if itās awkward during negotiations when our front office gets asked what they want for a player, and they have to respond that the main focus is cash for the owner.
you act like that money goes directly into Jerry's bank account lol
Was one of my favorite players in the league before he was a Bull, but didnāt like the signing for what we were becoming. But he blew my and everyoneās expectations out the water.. we got prime Deebo. Great player and great guy. His run here was special š«”ā¤ļø With that said, Iām really exited that heās gone and we can finally play a different brand of basketball. Itās time to get modern baby!!!!!!
To say Iām grateful as a fan is an understatement. Thank you for kicking ass when it was necessary. Thank you for always supplying the professional and mature response to the wins and losses. He helped other players become better and had the mindset of āfuck youā which goes a long way in sports. Iāll be watching Sacramento when I canāt watch the Bulls. What a great player.
Ah, Jerryās favorite part of the deal: Cash
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Agreed.
No one wants Zach. Kings were one of the few with legit interest.
Jerry and Cash considerations, name a better duo.
Now time to flip Vooch and Zach at the deadline Let's get this rebuild in full swing
Congratulations DeMar!
Thank you Deebo
š«”
Does Duarte fill our open roster spot?
Im gonna miss DeMar man :(
How does this impact Zach LaVine?
He boutta drop 35ppg
Please take care of HB!
Wouldāve rather have gotten Chris Duhon
This offseason is going about as well as I could have hoped. Main downside so far is the one team who seemed to have interest in Lavine is out of the running, probably stuck with him this season at least.
Get in here letās gooooo
What happened to the Kevin Huerter rumor? Heās exactly the type of player we should want
I'm sad š but it was expected
Wondering when these Kings picks are. Bulls don't have any 2nd round picks until 2028 so it would be nice to have sooner assets. That said, like most of the 2nd round picks this draft got traded so I guess maybe as assets you could still trade them if they are like 2028 and 2029, for instance.
Good tenure and good trade.
Maybe they'll waive Duarte
Damn, total wins 21.5
At least the Bears will be entertaining this year. I hope Chicago can send a message to the Bulls org this season by tanking attendance numbers at the UC.
Demar a legit Bulls legend. I'll miss him. I don't understand why anyone is defending the Bulls return. We could've and should've gotten a 1st.
Of they don't retire his number for what he did within his 3 years imma be so mad. Also Rodman should've has his number retired by now.
If*
Good luck to Damar, so glad theyāre finally blowing it up though. Better late than never I suppose
It is very Bulls to reject the unprotected pick swap if it means paying the tax. This team has not been in contention for almost a decade and it will be for another. Jerry is a cheapskate.
Meh, this better mean weāre tanking hard next year
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Giddy isnāt nothingā¦
Lol, what do you think you're witnessing these last couple of weeks.
Cash? How can we continue to be fans of this joke franchise?
You are under no obligation
Thank you Comptonās finest
What a Meh ass trade from a Meh ass franchise.
Cash considerations WE BACK BABY!
wow. we actually got a decent haul, didnāt think you had it in ya AK
Cooper flag here we gooo now trade Vuch
I appreciate his time in Chicago. Another all star talent wasted by horrible management. As for the return getting 2 2nds back is nice, Duarte is whatever. Letās hope Vooch is next
Thank you Deebo. Im surprised we got that good of a hual in a imminent DeMar departure. I hope DeMar would be in a good place. He passed on a $80M two year extension. Ended up with $70M guaranteed. I read $59M for two years then likely $11M partially guaranteed on third season.
Imagine trading demar a year ago lol. Oh well better than nothing. Hope the kings can make a run
Just hope we can tank this year
Buying his jersey if i can next check loved him while he was here wishing him the best
Got his jersey 2 days ago when I found out he is going. Good thing was discounted and paid extra 20bicks to add his sig to the jersey number. Can't wait for summer to wear it here
Cash considerations always relative this time of year. Mind-numbing
I bet Jerry asked if he could get more cash if we didnāt take the picks. Thanks and good luck Demar. One of my favourite Bulls ever. Nothing but class.
JR should be forced by the FBI to sell the Bulls and White Sox. Both of these franchises are hopeless.
Nah, we're a 25 win team next year.
