Don’t know about the nuts but I have a theory about the bones. “My” guys keep a chicken bone in my ivy flowerpot. The way they each occasionally pick it up and put it back I think they are grinding their beak on the bone like you would file a nail.

OCPyle

Interesting. Thank you for sharing.

SaskiaDavies

That's fascinating. I wonder if some bones are better than others for filing their beaks.

Amyssecret

I've seen them act very happy and cawing excitedly till I pick up their gift. Lol I had to force myself to tell Braveheart how happy I was with the slug he brought me🤢😁

toweringcutemeadow

A slug hahahah proverbial “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure” but it’s a crow.

Amyssecret

Lol true🤣, I suppose Braveheart figured if he liked them, I would too.

SaskiaDavies

I hear they're delicious with salt.

Amyssecret

🤣🤣🤣

Royalewithnaynays

They might have brought it to you as a gift!

OCPyle

Exactly and I didn't take it. They're mad at me LOL

Royalewithnaynays

Lol, I might not have done so either. Tongs next time so they don't think you're refusing their gift 😂

OCPyle

Ok, I went and got my gift, let's see how they behave next time.

When I eat chicken wings I always leave extra meat on the bone for the crows and the bones always disappear.

I think you're fine and haven't offended them. I cut up cooked chicken bones and set them out for the crows. they like pecking the remaining meat and the marrow, if they can get to it. maybe they were hoping you could break the bone open for them. or not. sometimes a chicken bone is just a chicken bone. ;)
