We won't get DR3. WRC23 is the next title. I expect we will see an evolution of DR2 plus WRC content.
Rumour suggests we will get a car builder which would be awesome, I hope we get a decent amount of freedom to build for all classes of car.
Other than that, I'd want to see some longer stages, better custom championship options and a proper livery editor.
All codemasters rally titles were simcades, last WRC licensed games were simcades so wrc23 would probably be simcade too. Makes business sense, close enough to sim but not too difficult for casual players to enjoy it.
Like a Tamagotchi? If you don't play for ages and then stick it on he's just flopped in the corner covered in his own shit and refuses to speak?
Yeah sod it, I'm in.
Heavily expanded car list (I would most like to see the Toyota Celica GT4 st205 and seat Cordoba wrc added)
Bring all the world rx cars from 2015 -2019 (none of this new electric shit)
New locations
Dynamic weather and day cycle
And a banging soundtrack like dirt 4s
Absolutely. Give me a clapped out Volvo wagon, an E36 with a welded diff, a civic with no other mods than a gutted interior, a base Impreza with 200k miles on it.
Group A has 800 homologated cars, there are a lot of shitboxes to choose. I'd prefer proper rally cars version of these cars, not something somebody with a shoestring budget would drive (like stock car with safety equipment).
Procedurally generated stages, or just longer stages/more stage variety in general.
Ability to customize pace notes in select spots.
Hill climbing.
Hardcore damage that actually feels punishing/realistic.
Save and watch replays in VR.
I'm terrible at this game and was shocked at how forgiving hardcore damage is, I can hit an impressive amount of shit at high speed before I have any problems with the car
Or at least have the historic classes make sense! The 240Z predates Escort/Kadette/131 - the 131 being successor to Stratos, Ascona actually later in same era, then Sierra and M3 are from after the GpB period.
Speaking of which, the Renault 5 was a rwd GpB car too...
(I mean technically many of the other historics were homologated in GpB, including Mk2 Escort, but thinking in terms of where we'd traditionally consider them here).
H3 is a mess...
Would love to see a comprehensive track editor where a few parameters can be tweaked for desired outcomes, and then the ability to share these tracks with each other via and event lab esque feature…but more importantly would love to see mods so that extra stages etc can be added. Building a custom version of your own favorite backroads, and/or, your local motorsports playground to rip around would be quite a bit of fun. I wish someone would allow a better interface for connecting an IPAD pro for the use of livery creation/ lidar scans of road surfaces/ and pace note editing. (Even through the use of a separate app). Imagine being able to put a gis satellite scan in, and then AI creating parameters that can be switched on or off to create dirt, gravel, asphalt, or cobblestone etc at the touch of a button. The same level of switches and levers could be applied to weather conditions, or quality of materials do to entropy(like how new is the asphalt or gravel etc?) Just thinking outside the box, but wouldn’t it be nice if when you got a flat that you could actually get out and fix it an immersive setting. The ability to free roam some of the tracks would be nice as well. Obviously this is a long stretch…it would be quite a stretch to see a developer actually allow the community to be part of the creation process and keep a game alive in a AC sort of way, but totally evolved with the use of an app that can do all of the course creation/livery editing etc…Actual mileage and digital titles/ auction house. Ground Deformation that reacts to weather/tires.
I don't have playstation but I've been told Gran Turismo had something like that. It was app you could have on your phone, you could street drive your route and then import that data to GT and it would make it a track. Seems like a super rad option, I'm surprised I haven't seen it other places.
Sounds like that would be amazing. I would also love to see a parts store/junkyard where we could buy parts the were new/used, or re-manned. I think that would add a level of realism that would have so many staying on the game. It could just get updated content for new seasons, tracks, and cars, but only have to make a new game like once every 4-5 years. This would be the about the only game I would play…If it had that since of realism…working up the ranks from crap boxes racing down backroads, to car meets at the local motorsports rally tracks, to actually going abroad like someone else mentioned in the thread. It would be epic. A really good league racing setup that you work your way up to the pros at Rally 1
Cross-discipline racing, at least within custom lobbies. Imagine getting to race against your friend in GRP B RWD while they are in AWD. I want that kind of challenge.
We really do need that, and its not unrealistic. In the late 1990's and early 2000's the F2 Kit Cars could occasionally match and beat the WRC cars, winning Tour de Corse even.
Or older gen cars like the 037 up with 'modern' Group B AWD at Safari.
I would like it to not have cosmetic microtransactions that will most certainly drive the game in more of arcade direction. Basically it would be nice if EA wasn't involved......
I'd quite like to see a co-op career mode where you team up with someone and drive/nav throughout the whole thing.
Having random irl names turn up at events would be cool as well. I've played dr2 so much now I've invented backstories for a few of the regular names you compete against lol.
The option of doing championships against the ai as a co-driver. Your skill at calling the notes dictates how well the ai drives.
Spectators that do more than stand still and permanently fist bump. Having them all turn to watch you go past, put hoods/umbrellas up if it starts raining etc.
Dynamic weather.
Clubs mode where we can have more than 12 stages per event, and the ability to set events up as multi-class. Would make running leagues easier.
Bring back the telemetry function from the dr1 website.
A large, procedurally generated area for doing navigational rallies early in the career, with more of a focus on domestic level stuff where decent performances open up opportunities to go abroad for events, building up to wrc.
Ideally not 60% of the game behind a dlc paywall.
Locations returning from dr2 need new stages. Please don't just recycle the current content. Maybe they could all come back as dlc eventually.
The ability to do stupid stuff in the car builder. If I want to build a 3 wheel van and paint it bright yellow and enter rally Finland then I'd like to be able to do that.
A full 24hr time cycle, so when setting up custom events we can manually choose a specific time.
I'm assuming RX and Pike's Peak won't be included this time out. If they are coming back then please give them love and attention and don't just tag them on for the sake of it.
Work on the tarmac physics lol
Loving the co-driver career mode…great idea…”A.I. drives well based on calls” =BRILLIANT! Love the idea that we…should be able to send anything that actually rolls down the track. Moving spectators in an old group B scenario would be amazing. How about a fantasy group B league mode…where group B never ended, and we get to race the rally concept cars or mod some in to the game.
I'd love a game that isn't unplayable for the first year after its release. Then stability through the life of the game. I can't tell you how disappointed I am to own a GTX 2070 super and still have screen tearing more often than I'd care to deal with. I'm also turning the settings down to as reasonable as possible while still keeping a detailed look to the game. Only 1 55" TV connected to the GPU at a time (found out mixing HDMI and display port connections on the same card will cause serious game stuttering issues in DR 2.0). Even after that, I still run into screen tearing and performance issues. I guess a 3.7GHZ 6 core CPU, GTX 2070 super 8GB DDR6 GPU, 8 gigs of DDR4 2666mhz ram, a 1TB SSD and decent system temps aren't gonna cut it anymore. All I want is a reliable and functional rally game with somewhat decent graphics and realistic physics. But the investors will likely deal us another pile of shit no matter where it's coming from. Guess my only option is the config hell that is RBR with a g920.
Screen tearing has nothing to do with what specs you have. I don't have any screen tearing on dirt rally 2.0 when using freesync and locking fps below screen refresh rate. If you don't use freesync/gsync or vsync you will always have screen tearing no matter fps. Game runs just fine on 4k high/ultra settings 100+ fps no screen tearing with RX 6750XT.
As for stuttering 1600mhz ram is really slow nowadays and is probably ddr3 which makes your cpu also old so you could be cpu bottlenecking which could explain stuttering.
Also on multisampling setting anything above cmaa starts to really lower your fps and anything above 4x msaa shouldnt ever be used.
How about an ability to race side by side on narrow tracks, like the cross discipline mentioned above…but an ability to make custom racing where instead of racing only times…you could actually race one another on any track…maybe even an all out wreck less mode where up to 6-8 people could tear down a back road together or free roam sections connecting actual events.
I would love a proper simulation of the actual stages in relation to other opponents. When i make too many mistakes i want to see the next car in my rearview mirror. I want the spectators to turn their head and look at the car when they drive by. Looks ridiclious in DR2
I hope WRC23 will have VR!
I think it will on PC. Unlikely on PS.
It's a must, without VR I won't buy it of course (as any racing title).
Considering DR2 has VR support and a pretty decent implementation at that, I'd be willing to bet WRC23 will as well.
PSVR2 support
Is wrc23 sim game?
It's not officially announced yet, so nobody knows.
Never played it. But as it's an evolution of Dirt Rally series it will probably lean towards sim.
Ty
All codemasters rally titles were simcades, last WRC licensed games were simcades so wrc23 would probably be simcade too. Makes business sense, close enough to sim but not too difficult for casual players to enjoy it.
I don’t have it but it looks like gran turismo 7 you can build a car pretty detailedly. That would be cool to swap motors and other parts.
Phil relationship minigame where you have to buy him gifts and hang out together. The accuracy of his calls depends on your relationship level.
Like a Tamagotchi? If you don't play for ages and then stick it on he's just flopped in the corner covered in his own shit and refuses to speak? Yeah sod it, I'm in.
Crying right now…
LOL
awesome, maybe narcotics too... Phil with a hangover 😉
That they announce it.
I would love a Group B crowd mode. I want to part the seas of race fans as I put the quattro into a light pole at 80mph
Better physics, especially on tarmac. Id like it to be better than 20 years old game (RBR).
Heavily expanded car list (I would most like to see the Toyota Celica GT4 st205 and seat Cordoba wrc added) Bring all the world rx cars from 2015 -2019 (none of this new electric shit) New locations Dynamic weather and day cycle And a banging soundtrack like dirt 4s
soundtracks are way underated these days..
Yeah. I really liked dirt 4s soundtrack but when DR2 came out I was very disappointed with the very mediocre basic soundtrack
Full triple monitor support with view adjustment
That's very important as the cockpit view in a lot of cars in DR2 is off
Steam workshop/ mod support, for tracks, championships, carsettings, etc...Make it a beamNG experience.
I would love a class with modified shitboxes
Absolutely. Give me a clapped out Volvo wagon, an E36 with a welded diff, a civic with no other mods than a gutted interior, a base Impreza with 200k miles on it.
An Audi A4 cabriolet…gutted, with a refrigerator box hard top.
Group A has 800 homologated cars, there are a lot of shitboxes to choose. I'd prefer proper rally cars version of these cars, not something somebody with a shoestring budget would drive (like stock car with safety equipment).
What you dont want is exactly what I want
Fuck yes I feel like this would be the most popular class lol
LS Swapped DS21 please.
Procedurally generated stages, or just longer stages/more stage variety in general. Ability to customize pace notes in select spots. Hill climbing. Hardcore damage that actually feels punishing/realistic. Save and watch replays in VR.
Dude hardcore damage in 2.0 is far from hardcore! I agree with you
Blame car manufacturers and not the developers for that.
I'm terrible at this game and was shocked at how forgiving hardcore damage is, I can hit an impressive amount of shit at high speed before I have any problems with the car
Dirt 4 had procedurally generated maps and it got boring pretty quick
More car categories, such as S1600, S2000, Gr. N, Gr. 2, Gr.4 and so
Or at least have the historic classes make sense! The 240Z predates Escort/Kadette/131 - the 131 being successor to Stratos, Ascona actually later in same era, then Sierra and M3 are from after the GpB period. We have S1600 in rally cross! They should really let us use them on stages like in dirt 1
Staggered starts. They had it in Dirt 2. Online races were so intense
Loved that in Dirt 2

Exactly right, and I want a chance to do it! Alpine vs Group A lmao, lemme at em
Less hocky flips that always land on the tires, dr1 was more realistic for that…
I would like it to not have cosmetic microtransactions that will most certainly drive the game in more of arcade direction. Basically it would be nice if EA wasn't involved......
Offline single-player.
Longer stages, and longer draw distance
The ability to customize pacenotes
I was literally going to rapidly scroll to the top to post this, but then out the corner of my eye I seen it. THIS!!
Hill climbs!
Would love some sort of hill climb championship
Online replays, my friends can't drive and I can't prove it to them
PACE NOTE MODIFICATION
Better tarmac physics, better vr performance and graphics
VR support
CUSTOM LIVERY EDITOR PLS!!!
Bullseye

Yeah super specials would be cool.
Modding support. with modding and only with modding can it compete with this guy named Richard who tends to burn rally
I would love a proper simulation of the actual stages in relation to other opponents. When i make too many mistakes i want to see the next car in my rearview mirror. I want the spectators to turn their head and look at the car when they drive by. Looks ridiclious in DR2
I want it to be like dr2.0 but with wrc generations stage designs and career mode. Stages should also be longer and tarmac needs to be improved.
Richard Burns Rally + WRC Evolution + Dirt Rally 2.0 + WRC Evolved
Dropshadows on gui text/numbers and maximum diversity in track environments.
I would like to see joyride in every mode like trailblazer or rallycross.
