As an American, the only American I’d want to play the Doctor is Natasha Lyonne. She’d absolutely kill it.

emiltheraptor

Never thought about it before but now you said it and I'm obsessed

[deleted]

I would love that, actually

[deleted]

Danny Pudi as the Doctor and Donald Glover as the companion, obviously

emiltheraptor

Ho no, blorgons! Pew pew pew pew pew!

carpetedtoaster

Troy and Abed in the TARDIS!

Superlolp

And the Master is Danny Pudi in a goatee, of course.

[deleted]

The Doctor: Glenn Howerton (Dennis from It's Always Sunny) Companion 1: Peyton List (Tori from Cobra Kai) Companion 2: Jack Quaid (Hughie from The Boys) The Master: JK Simmons (J. Jonah Jameson from the Spider-Man films, Fletcher in Whiplash) And just because I miss Captain Holt, I'm gonna throw in Andre Braugher as the Brigadier figure of American UNIT.

SteveFlannery6

>The Doctor: Glenn Howerton So he's gonna offer some random person a chance to go away in the universe from an old police box and they can't say no.... because of the implication?

PhoenixWinchester67

rest in peace to the legend. We will miss you Andre

ChyatlovMaidan

Peter Dinklage as the Doctor, Julianne Moore as the companion, Sean Astin as the Master.

Vladmanwho

After watching cyrano I can actually see Dinklage doing a great job

Altruistic_Treat3509

Dinklage as the doctor would be amazing!!

Embarrassed_Might_88

Nicolas Cage is the Doctor Taylor Swift as the companion

TheKandyKitchen

The only acceptable answer.

Embarrassed_Might_88

Oh and Jeffery Combs ad the Master

ChyatlovMaidan

What about Jeffery Combs as the Doctor, Jeffery Combs as the companion, and Jeffery Combs as the Master?

SporemiKazie

i would cast myself. and my friend mike as the companion. and my buddy greg as the master. i would be the COOL doctor i would do a breakdance at the end of every episode and my cathcphrase would be dont do drugs kids!! and it would be so cool

Didsburyflaneur

Doctor: Danny Pudi Companion: Sophia Lillis Master: Ethan Hawke

[deleted]

Actually really support this.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Rosa Salazar as The Master would be really interesting.

tinyporcelainehorses

The obvious answers here are, for an american master, Eric Roberts, for an american companion, Daphne Ashbrook, and for an american doctor, Paul McGann doing an accent. That silliness aside, I don't have a tonne of thoughts on companions - in some ways, that's the easiest one to fill! A few doctor thoughts: I'd actually really love to see what Steve Buscemi did with it. D'arcy Carden could have a lot of fun with it. I think Joseph Gordon Levitt might be a slightly boring/safe choice, but he'd probably be good. Jamie Lee Curtis. *Definitely* Janelle Monae. Stephanie Beatriz would also play a really interesting doctor (or maybe master.) Peter Dinklage would probably be also be good as the doctor, but my God, I see him as an absolutely perfect master. Viola Davis as the master - enough said. Since I mentioned D'arcy Carden earlier, based purely on his performance in the good place, Ted Dansen. Michelle Yeoh (not really american, but has lived and worked there for a long time). If you wanted to go back to a very ainley/delgado esque master, Michael Shannon. And I think that Giancarlo Esposito is almost cheating as a master answer, because he's known at this point for being very good at playing calculating villains. Sidebar: she's Australian, but Toni Collette as either. As both, possibly.

jtides

Ted Danson as the Doctor AnnaSophia Robb as the Companion Master Kieran Culkin I also realized while thinking about this Adam Scott could kill any of these roles

ASaucerfulOfCyanide

Doctor: Bob Odenkirk Companion: Aaron Paul Master: Giancarlo Esposito

schreibeheimer

Honestly, I feel like Giancarlo Esposito's been given the villain role too often. What about him as the Doctor?

[deleted]

He could crush that ngl

TangerineFrequent277

He could actually be one of the more “alien” doctors

YoungBeef03

I’d feel he’d always give off the vibe that, even if he seems friendly, he could destroy you and probably wants to

emilforpresident2020

The Doctor played by Action Bronson

jtides

Your genius is clearly under appreciated in your time

Significant_Curve286

I would cancel the show or quit my job.

MatBan_Quids7567

Hear me out: The Doctor: James Roday Rodriguez Companion: Dulé Hill The Master: Ally Sheedy

Altruistic_Treat3509

If this happened in the classic series: Billy Crystal as The Doctor Cyndi Lauper as Assistant Yaphet Kotto as The Master Sandra Berndhadt as The Rani Modern day Natasha Lyone as The Doctor Elliot Page as the assistant Dominique Jackson as The Master

Affectionate_Owl9985

So I made a list way back. Older Doctor: Harvey Keitel (Mr. White from Reservoir Dogs) Younger Doctor: Adrien Brody (The Pianist) Companions: Ken Jeong, Selena Gomez, or Bella Thorne. Older Master: John Lithgow (Trinity Killer in Dexter and Churchill in The Crown, yes, he's American) Younger Master: Edward Norton (Fight Club, Incredible Hulk) Edit: Wanted to add, I would also cast Timothee Chalamet as a companion, depending on how the dynamic is supposed to play out.

YoungBeef03

Edward Norton as the Master is a genius idea. But only if there’s a scene where he curb-stomps someone

Affectionate_Owl9985

Have him curb stomp a Cyberman, considering how many times the NuWho Master has used them as henchmen.

YoungBeef03

Honestly, a Master who’s not afraid to throw hands would be cool to see.

[deleted]

I don't think it necessarily would ruin the show to have an American Doctor, but here we go Doctor: Brendan Fraser or Lakeith Stanfield (when I was a teenager and watched Shameless US I was convinced William H Macy could be dr. who but I have since learnt I was an idiot lol) Companion: Jenny Ortega Master: Willem Defoe is an obvious choice but a huge name so also like... Ezra Miller. No acting required.

Fanboy70

Doctor: Aidan Gallagher Companion: Jenna Ortega Master: Chris Pine

Grafikpapst

Peter Dinklage would be my cast. He is an amazing actor and while he is American, he is from Irish (and German) descend, so he has some connection to Brittain at least. He is great at playing quick witted character and his role on Game of Throne shows that he has the range needed for playing the role. Companion is harder. Jenna Marie Ortega, maybe? She played Wednesday on the Netflix-Show and she is a great actress as evidence by that.

bmbmwmfm

Yeah imma Google bc I simply can't believe dinklage is American. Floored I tell ya, absolutely gobsmacked bc his entire career I thought he was British.

Grafikpapst

He does have a very british humor to him, I think thats what makes him register as brittish first.

godisanelectricolive

His accent as Tyrion was not that great. I think you can tell he's an American by his voice. He's not played that many other British characters.

bmbmwmfm

I just thought he was acting. As in, the part wasn't British so he tried to drop his British accent!

LPCJ07

If I was held at gunpoint to cast a US Doctor, I’d start saying my goodbyes actually I’d take the gun and do it myself

nikidmaclay

America would kill Doctor Who forever. We can't make TV like that here.

Bananabeak08

Paul Rudd.

ACEwriter12

Actually, I can see him playing the perfect companion.

ollieseven

I’d cast him as Jack Harkness

Vladmanwho

Nah he’s not slimey enough

ACEwriter12

Doctor: Harry Shum Jr. Companion: Dominique Thorne Master: Hale Appleman

emiltheraptor

Harry Shum Jr! Haven't thought about him in a long time, what's he doing these days?

schreibeheimer

He was a lead on *Grey's Anatomy* this year.

emiltheraptor

Didn't know the show was still on, but hey, good for him! (Just remembered he had a small role in Everything Everywhere All at once, right?)

schreibeheimer

I'm pretty sure it's called *Racacoonie*.

emiltheraptor

Hehe what a weird movie

[deleted]

I only have an idea for the Doctor, not the other two: Glenn Close (and based on her work in Crooked House, she could do it with a British accent lol)

ChyatlovMaidan

Glenn Close channelling Cruella Deville as the Master would be fantastic, though.

Vladmanwho

Synthesising my favourites from other peoples choices, Peter Dinklage as the doctor Jenna Ortega as a companion

thesunsetdoctor

Mary Kate Wiles aka Lydia Bennet from The Lizzie Bennett Diaries as The Doctor. She's got the right mix of humour quirkiness and underlying sadness and anger.

machinaenjoyer

gene wilder is the only acceptable answer, like ever

spymaster00

Giancarlo Esposito would be interesting as the Doctor OR the Master. The way he can go from lighthearted to utterly menacing would work very well for either, and although he’s been typecast as a villain, I think he could pull off a more heroic spin as well.

Inthewirelain

You know in the late 80s, Paramount wanted to do a doctor who movie with Michael Jackson? Ignoring the obvious drama that would bring in 2023, it was on the back of Thriller they thought he'd be perfect for an American movie version and tbh, I can't disagree. Their backup plan was even more unfortunate being Bill Cosby, who is not only a horrible rapist, but would also just be a boring version of the doctor.

YoungBeef03

It might seem like an odd pick, given his physicality, but I’d go with Benjamin Byron Davis as The Doctor He’s a big, bold performer most known for his role as Dutch van der Linde in the Red Dead Redemption duology. In that role, he was jovial and larger than life, but when the scene called for it, he could also be intimidating as all hell. Now Davis, as The Doctor, would be unique in many ways. He’d be the first American for one, the first numbered Doctor to have facial hair, and by far the largest man to have ever held the role. Given his size, he could work action into his performance in ways no other Doctor has. I can imagine a gag with him, where he laments his Sonic Screwdriver not being able to unlock a wooden door, so he just bashes through it with his shoulder. Benjamin Byron Davis as the Doctor, in short, would be a large, jovial man who commands attention everywhere he goes, who can also be downright scary if he needs to be. For his companion, I have no one in particular in mind, but I just want someone who stands out from the past main companions. Maybe cast a teenager in the role, someone who, with Davis’ Doctor, could recall the grandparent-grandchild relationship from the 1st Doctor and Susan. Casting the Master is hard. Because on one hand, Peter Blomquist as The Master is my dream. But on the other, that would mean two Red Dead actors are in the show. So, fuck it, Peter Blomquist has proven he can play evil like no other. Most famously as Micah Bell in RDR2, a slimy bastard who seems to relish in his lack of compassion. Blomquist as The Master would be a cross between the madness of John Simm and the cold, joking nature of Missy

Blue_Tomb

Doctor : Ted Danson Companion : Danny Pudi Master : William Fichtner
