the Butcher made my nephew cry when he tried playing when he was 10. Scared the hell out of him. He didn't play another Diablo game till 4 years ago with Diablo 3
I'm from the UK and I had Gatorade in Las Vegas last year. They sell it here but it's just not the same. Whatever Americans put in their food that the EU considers to be very much 'not food,' it just hits different.
its plastic and lard, its what we americans thrive on lol..
real talk though - completely agree, when I visit other countries and there are the same items like gatorade or snickers, it always tastes different. Not horrible or bad just different.
Well. Beer store is Ontario exclusive, so bagged milk not necessary. There's enough evidence right there associated with that big orange "[THE BEER STORE](https://seanmarshall1.files.wordpress.com/2020/12/img_1965-001.jpg)" sign.
I want to hope it’s going to be good… but Blizzard has burned me too many times. I have very low expectations that it’s not going to turn into a micro transaction greed fest.
I came here to make this comment. My first LAN gaming experience was playing Diablo with my brother via 2 computers. I'm a huge fan of Diablo, but I just can't seem to get behind anything Blizzard makes these days...
I tried OW Too and Diablo Immortal and, uhh, yea...
I have the Early Access and played for about 5 hours yesterday...it's really freaking good! I was wondering if I would want to go back to Diablo 3, which I have at least a thousand hours into. Nope!
Came here to post exactly this. Already don’t feel Blizzard deserves any ounce of forgiveness for their abhorrent business practices and culture.
Regardless, I played the kfc beta and server slam, probably 50 ish hours over both. Gave it a pretty solid tryout, and there’s no chance in hell I’m giving blizzard any more money.
Especially not for whatever this is. They have a long road back to good graces… not sure they’ll even come close.
Those cosmetic store prices on top of a £60 game tells you all you need to know. After the whole Diablo Immortal thing this was really the chance to win back some PR but they’re just the same Actiblizz; ruthless monetisation and sexually harassing employees.
Hope it’s good, and I hope OP’s husband gets a kick out of it. I’ve tried to finish Diablo 3, like, five times, but I get bored to tears by the end of act 2. It’s a shame because I loved Diablo 1, hellfire, and 2 so much. I’ve even played it with a group twice and we got bored with the trivially easy combat and moved on to other stuff.
With Blizzard-Activision’s attitude towards its IPs (Overwatch 2 looms large over this conversation), I’m not going to hold out a lot of hope that the game is going to be worth playing.
Best of luck to everyone that tries it out though!
I don't have doubts about the game being fun. I have doubts about being able to play for the next several days without waiting in a long login queue and experiencing frequent disconnects once I'm in.
Yeah, after everything from the p2w money grab of the mobile Diablo and the horrible handling of Overwatch 2 to the internal scandals that flag to every prospective hire to stay the hell away, idk why people have much faith left in Blizzard in its current state.
It’s going to take either years of not fucking up or a complete takeover by another entity and years of not fucking up for me to trust Blizzard again.
Now, if you excuse me, I’ve got to queue up as Brig again and try to make it out of Bronze.
Man I was super hype. Played the open beta weekends. But then the different “editions” of the game came out with pricing…and now an entire slew of stuff trying to gobble up money. And I saw something recently where Blizzard is rewarding players items in game for watching 3 or 6 hours of a Diablo 4 streamer?
Even if you can’t pay for power now, I just don’t trust them anymore.
> And I saw something recently where Blizzard is rewarding players items in game for watching 3 or 6 hours of a Diablo 4 streamer?
You're never heard of Twitch drops? Tons of games do them. And since it's only cosmetics I really don't care.
There are way better reasons to be pissed at Blizzard.
I mean, all of the scumbaggery at ActiBlizz that was brought to light over the last two years is reason enough for me not to ever give Bobby Kotick another cent ever again. Besides, I think I already played this game a few times before, it got old the 3rd time.
I had queue times of over two hours for the private beta, and didn’t wait a single second for either open betas, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed they got it figured out.
Yes. Issues unique to blizzard... And not every single popular online game to ever exist.
I too am shocked blizzard hasn't discovered how to defy physics to prevent being ddosed by millions of people.
It should make you really mad they have those issues because millions and millions of people are giving them money :)
To be fair reviews have been released days before the early access on top of player having had two to three betas to check the game out so they do know about as much as with any game, he'll probably.much more than the average game with the punt of communication and datamining going around.
Nah the real issue is that it's a sneaky attempt to raise the basic price to 90 dollars instead of 70 or at least an early experiment into it. You can be sure they'll be monitoring what percentage of their day 1 customers go for it.
Its the whole predatory practices that i'm specifically talking about right now.
The game is full price, you guys willingly give them 10$ a day to start earlier, then there is a battle pass, a store.
This game should be free to play with like paying 40$ if you want early and that include the battle pass.
> you guys willingly give them 10$ a day to start earlier
The reality is that's not much money. Gaming is a relatively cheap hobby and someone might play the game for months. To a lot of people who will put hundreds of hours in paying an extra $20 isn't a big deal at all.
Yeah! That's why games have been $60 since the NES! And the cost of making games DEFINITELY hasn't gone up in that time! Devs don't deserve a single extra cent! And they BETTER continue to add content after release, or I will RIOT.
I agree with your sentiment, but just some corrections: the “early access” version is $20 more than the base price, and it includes the battle pass. So if someone were to already be purchasing the pass, the additional cost is $10.
But like I said, I agree it’s a shitty practice regardless of the prices.
There were beta weekends and I had a ton of fun with it. I played a lot of Diablo 3 over the years. I don't have plans this weekend, so yes, I paid $89.99 vs. $69.99 to play 5 days early. I have a good job, and have zero doubt I will get my monies worth in entertainment. It's less than a round of golf I play a lot of in the summer. It's not like I was forced to pay it, and they offered a service/product I wanted. That's how it works.
I 100% agree. I guess, I rarely get to play games anymore having a family, I never buy 95% of the games practicing shitty tactics, I won't purchase any micro transactions...I just wanted to play on a rare weekend of free time. I hate the never ending attempt to milk customers for any last dime, no doubt.
I'm not disagreeing with your point, but to have the numbers straight, it's $20 extra for 4 days early plus the premium battle pass and a couple other goodies.
I hate to break it to you, but an extra $20 is valued differently depending on who's $20 it is.
Some of us also budget for gaming. I had $180 saved up in my gaming budget...and gamepass has been saving me tons of money, so $90 for the deluxe (after tax) wasn't a big deal. Plus you get more than just the base game.
The beta was also really awesome, so many of us already know exactly what we are getting.
Lastly, time is valuable for me and being able to play it this weekend is huge. It's a rare weekend where I'm not busy.
Agreed. Or divide up the dollars spent for hours played. Many are going to aijk serious time into this, and your cost per hour is minimal. Also you tend to get a fair bit of bonus content, cosmetic items etc for the deluxe installs.
I think we are sometimes underpaying for games that we are paying pennies per hour played.
100% agreed!
I was slightly hesitant when I bought the latest COD For $70, but then I went on to beat the campaign 2.5 times and played many many hours of the multiplayer...I got way more than my money's worth on that one.
With Diablo 4's insane replayability I will again get way more than my money's worth.
It is just entertainment after all. Going to the theater, renting a movie, or buying a movie is more expensive time per dollar than buying Diablo 4.
Absolutely, but it's become the popular event to ridicule the game studios for producing half completed games. That's not the studio, that's the production company that owns the copyright and wants the money asap, that is rushing those half done games to markets.
Blame the big companies?! Lol
I don't get into micro politics of organizations. Sure there are plenty of evil organizations, and those people often pay the repercussions.
Either way...
Games like these take legions of coders, testers, family, friends, support, and hundreds and thousands of labor hours to create these digital worlds we waltz in to.
If games were actually valued for the time spent, some games would be over a thousand bucks.
Whoever buys it, regardless of how it is to them, still paid the dumb tax. Wait 5 days. It ain’t that serious. Stop giving Activision blizzard every chance to milk people dry. Jesus people
Why do you care so much? If people feel like the $20 is worth it to get the game a couple days early who cares. I’m busy all weekend so I got the deluxe edition so I can play the next couple of days instead of on the weekend when I’m busy and have plans. Stop yucking peoples yums
Got lucky some how, girlfriend gave me $100 Xbox cards for my birthday, redeemed them with the intention of buying the Standard version for $70. When logging on to my Xbox and going to the store page, had the Ultimate version with a red line around it and "Just for You" along the bottom for $30!!! Not sure why, but jumped on that, LOL!! Loved both betas, can't wait until 7pm EST.
I came on here to see if anyone mentioned that. As a Nova Scotian, I saw our heritage hidden in there! Too bad it's brewed in Ontario now. Like the UK Gatorade it hit different when I was in TO last year. It's not as hoppy! Ahh well at least all of Canada can enjoy it now :)
I mean you’d have to stop supporting ALL companies basically. Grow your own food, make your own clothes, develop your own games etc. so enjoy that moral high ground I guess but I doubt you’re really standing on it.
No, it's perfectly fine to choose where you take your stand. You don't need to do 100's of hours of research to make sure you are entirely consistent with what you buy or not.
Happy being part of the culture ruining games by giving into corporate cash grabs. At least have enough will power not to preorder or pay into the the early access. Companies are tapping into FOMO and instant gratification to line their products and ruin the overall experience for everyone.
We should not be celebrating people that do this but insist this should not be the norm or acceptable.
Man, I'm all for encouraging people to hold back from preordering especially when Blizzard is using this kind of monetization, but she's trying to do something nice for her husband. Let her enjoy that.
Just got my check and paid rent, and found out I can afford to get D4 before before it releases, and my birthday is the 3rd! Happy birthday to your husband!
This is like that feeling of when you’re 10 and you ask your mom if your best friend can sleep over and she says yes! Woohoo happy early birthday! Enjoy the game
I like the addition of an extra pair of shorts for those times when you just need to shit yourself instead of getting up.
MMMMMM FRESH MEAT!!
In Diablo 1 he says ahhhh fresh meat not mmmm you poser
Diablo not Diablo 1 you poser
Very very nice!
I remember getting scared by the Butcher in the original Diablo, good times.
He has been equally as scary to me in D4, because you don't know where he'll pop up. Then suddenly you hear "FRESH MEAT" and it's ON.
Yep, he killed me pretty quickly during the server slam. I didn't know what was happening.
the Butcher made my nephew cry when he tried playing when he was 10. Scared the hell out of him. He didn't play another Diablo game till 4 years ago with Diablo 3
The butcher enjoys when your afraid makes you an easier target😊
Man I was such a young kid...I distinctly remember getting freaked out even though I was playing with a friend.
Even at 20yo he made me jump out of my seat.
Hahaha I just wanted him to have a new comfy pair of lounge pants with no holes
I'm going to bet there's at least 3 holes in those lounge pants
Maybe 4
How’s he going to put his legs in them with no holes?
Alexander Kieth's can have that effect
A diaper would be really forward thinking.
GO TO THE BATHROOM! YOU ARE SHITTING YOURSELF!
N-nawt yhet
That's disgusting! I wear a diaper.
Should have been a sock. They're called poopsocks for a reason.
Gamers will find any excuse to drink blue and eat hot chip
I'm from the UK and I had Gatorade in Las Vegas last year. They sell it here but it's just not the same. Whatever Americans put in their food that the EU considers to be very much 'not food,' it just hits different.
The secret ingredient is "not food"
The secret ingredient is **more** sugar
Nah. It’s usually more corn syrup.
High fructose corn syrup for #***everyone***
If it's almost dinner, it's almost time for Almost Pizza!
It's sugar and corn syrup. It's in everything and it's why we're almost all fat.
its plastic and lard, its what we americans thrive on lol.. real talk though - completely agree, when I visit other countries and there are the same items like gatorade or snickers, it always tastes different. Not horrible or bad just different.
It's plastic. Tasty plastic.
That's not Blue, those cans are clearly Moosehead
Look like Keith’s cans to me but The Beer Store is an Ontario thing.
You might be right lol
I know Ontario when I see it
The Beer Store? Ontario?
I, as a Nova Scotian first noticed the Keiths tall boys
Same here LOL. I was sure this was a Nova Scotian at first.
A fellow broken man on a Halifax pier I see.
Yep. It says on the carrier, "Proud to be serving Ontario for 95 years."
I missed that. Whoops. I don’t really buy alcohol
I honestly wouldn't have noticed unless you mentioned it. I just looked harder because you said something lol. Team effort?
I'm going to need a bag of milk for confirmation of this photos location.
Well. Beer store is Ontario exclusive, so bagged milk not necessary. There's enough evidence right there associated with that big orange "[THE BEER STORE](https://seanmarshall1.files.wordpress.com/2020/12/img_1965-001.jpg)" sign.

Can I ask how it felt clunky to you? I’ve only played 30 minutes so far and to me it feels like a polished version of 3.
It's because of the confirmation bias.
Came here to post exactly this. Already don’t feel Blizzard deserves any ounce of forgiveness for their abhorrent business practices and culture. Played on Xbox and literally told me the queue was less than a minute.. seems okay so far
The first day has been surprisingly smooth for me. No issues really. (on PC/Battle.net)
Yeah, after everything from the p2w money grab of the mobile Diablo and the horrible handling of Overwatch 2 to the internal scandals that flag to every prospective hire to stay the hell away, idk why people have much faith left in Blizzard in its current state. Amazing gifts to spend on a night queueing !
It’s a very sweet gesture! I’m gonna have to steal this idea for when my partner has a game coming out that he’s excited for
Doesn't this come out on the 6th?
You can pay $20 to play 4 days early... People pay for this shit clearly, so they will keep doing it
Early release if you pay for it ;)
Oh, you mean you get it early if you pre-order.
Pre-order the "delux" bundle or whatever its called. About $20-$40 more than the base game ($70) 💀
If you're candian it's 100$ for the base edition and an extra 50$ to get it 4 days earlier.
And people wonder why we get shit games when they pre order the game +40$ to play 2 days earlier without knowing if the game is even going to be good.

You get more than just playing early. Comes with the premium battle pass as well as some other goodies.
5 days earlier and it is good there's already been 2 beta weekends that you got access to if you pre ordered.
I mean they did several open betas, so it was pretty easy to play the game for free for 3 days, decide I want it, and buy the deluxe edition.
The beta was awesome! I ordered the deluxe edition and will be playing tonight.
I'm not disagreeing with your point, but to have the numbers straight, it's $20 extra for 4 days early plus the premium battle pass and a couple other goodies.
Well yeah but it sounds worse when you say it the other way so
Although some reviews are out and it generally looks good, I agree. Whoever bought this just paid the dumbass tax.
I hate to break it to you, but an extra $20 is valued differently depending on who's $20 it is. Some of us also budget for gaming. NO!!!!! ONLY BUY THE THINGS THAT *i* WOULD BUY!!! DON'T BUY THINGS THAT I DON'T WANT TO BUY!!!!
May come as a surprise to you, but to many ppl 20 dollars is nothing
You do realize that you actually get extra stuff with the deluxe and ultimate editions?
You also get a head start on the hardcore race.
Got lucky some how, girlfriend gave me $100 Xbox cards for my birthday, redeemed them with the intention of buying the Standard version for $70. Ew
Yeah if you Pre-order the ultimate or deluxe game package it releases at 7pm EST. Otherwise it is the 6th
🤮
Lol, you paid extra for 5 days early release? Sheesh, how will you afford the eventual P2W perks?
Yes but a bunch of suckers paid $20 extra to help Blizzard sort out the server issues before we play. Truly charitable of them.
One of those suckers also bought Torchlight 3 and Chaosbane while waiting for D4. The D4 $$$ will go much further in game hours.
Alexander Keith’s, here’s someone with great taste!
On the west coast Keith's is usually under "imported" and priced as such.
Would kill for a Keith’s right now
This is so wholesome to me. Such a thoughtful gesture.
Damn he's lucky to have a wife like you !
I cannot sign in lmao
yup, doesn't work for me either
You is the good ladiez
Where's that Blizzard backlash yall were talking about?
This is very sweet.
"that's quite a rare treasure you have in that Horadric six pack"
Is it the two extra beers?
Hey, so cool of you to support his hobbies and things he enjoys! So jealous of him, lol
Never touching a blizzard game ever again
AND I'm gonna complain about it on EVERY post about Blizzard too!
I can't imagine going to a post about people who are happy about a game and just whining lol
Lol, Blizzard games in 2023.
Fuck blizzard and fuck d4
Alexander keith beer?
Kieths is a great beer! Enjoy OP
That's sick bro, wish I would've thought to do something like that.
I love the Mana and Health labels on the bottles. This is rather sweet.
No wonder you are someone's wife, this is awesome.
Fuck blizzard
Wow youre the best wife ever…im jealous
That’s epic, I’m sure your husband will be thrilled!
I really want to play this game but can't justify giving Bobby Cuntick serial rapist extraordinaire more money. It just feels ... eww.
No, I don’t support bad/terrible companies
I mean you’d have to stop supporting ALL companies basically. Grow your own food, make your own clothes, develop your own games etc. so enjoy that moral high ground I guess but I doubt you’re really standing on it.
No, it's perfectly fine to choose where you take your stand. You don't need to do 100's of hours of research to make sure you are entirely consistent with what you buy or not.
Exactly, just hate the companies that it's popular to hate. Ride that bandwagon to your heart's content
Snacks for a month, beers for a sitting. Love the Link Amiibo!
can someone explain where this is from? Ive been hearing it a lot lately, is from diablo 1?
Isn't the release on the 5th?
If you bought the $90 package it's tonight at 4pm pacific / 7pm eastern.
Very tight butthole
Mom enters the room 🫨
Wait that’s from Diablo? Old streamer I would watch had that audio as one of his alerts
Hell yah! Enjoy!
Ehhhhh... I wanna play this but I'm enthralled with tears of the kingdom
If I ever run an Air BNB, that's my treat table sign.
I'm very jealous.
This is super sweet!
Fuck blizzard

Man, I'm all for encouraging people to hold back from preordering especially when Blizzard is using this kind of monetization, but she's trying to do something nice for her husband. Let her enjoy that.
She's being a supportive spouse. No need to write a manifesto that no one is going to read past, "Happy being part of a cul-"
REEEEEEEEEEEEE
After playing early access on PC, I will definitely be getting it also on PS5. Stay salty ;)
Clip on beard? Is this the darkest time line!?
From far away the broken up white lines looked like something else. Heck of a care package but not as next level as I originally expected 😂
Diablow 4 , now with more COCAINE!
Yay! Blizzard treats their employees and coworkers great now, right?
Blizzard is run by terrible people. Don’t support their garbage games.
Why was this hidden?
Just 5hours 42min and 40sec left for early access!
Wait really??? I thought this was June 2 at 7PM. I’m in the US East coast
