I like Nuna, like the ancient super continent 😀 also love Galena, like the mineral. Not sure if you're looking for boy or girl names. If it's a boy, Hades, after the Hadean eon. Or even Eon would be super cute imo.
Not necessarily black and white themed but geology themed.
There have been multiple supercontinents in the geologic past :) Pangea was the most recent. Before that was Rodinia which had Laurentia, ancestral North America. Nuna was before Rodinia. Nuna's details of reconstruction are still in the works but there's information about it out there. I'm just wrapping up historical geology at school right now.
My uncle's cat's name was Phyllis. It really suited her. She died two weeks ago at the ripe old age of thirteen and had held the position of household matriarch for years.
Whelp we don’t know if the cat is male or female so hematite or hema for short. Or snowbi/snobi, a smushed version of snow and obsidian because they look like snowflake obisidian. Or just obi.
Intrusion 🤣 "Tru"
Regolith "Rego"
Dinictus "Dini"
You could also try putting different geology-related words together and creating an acronym which becomes a cute name. For a bad example because I'm not such a geologist and haven't had coffee yet:
Basaltic Intermediate Paleogene Sediment is "Bips"
Could be funny yet subtle to classify the cat as a rock and disguise it in a name.
Slag
Make it Slagathor and hit multiple pop culture references, too.
The dual meaning of slag makes this 10x funnier
Ours is name Mica
Mica is cat in croatian :D
this is perfect, particularly as Mica shows up in two variants: white and black :)
This is outrageous lepidolite erasure and I won’t stand for it
Perfect for all the purple cats out there.
You could also do (Snowflake) Obsidian—call it Snowflake or Sid for short. Or Gabbro, and call it Gabby if it's a girl.
Graywacke
Sounds like a Warrior Cat’s name
Starts out as Grayspar, then graduates to wacke!
Lmao. This one is awesome.

Prospector
-followed by a bland name I.e “prospector bob.” Should always be called full name or just “prospector” for professionalism.
Just list the black (and white) minerals! Tourmaline? Feldspar for when looking under microscope / polarized light?
I know a black cat names Tourmaline, fits very well and breaks into cute nicknames.
I like Nuna, like the ancient super continent 😀 also love Galena, like the mineral. Not sure if you're looking for boy or girl names. If it's a boy, Hades, after the Hadean eon. Or even Eon would be super cute imo. Not necessarily black and white themed but geology themed.
I thought Pangea was the super continent (also a good name)
There have been multiple supercontinents in the geologic past :) Pangea was the most recent. Before that was Rodinia which had Laurentia, ancestral North America. Nuna was before Rodinia. Nuna's details of reconstruction are still in the works but there's information about it out there. I'm just wrapping up historical geology at school right now.
