Yeah, he’s actually good on-screen. No reason not to, and he’s also got a distinct-enough voice that it would sound weird to me if they didn’t cast him. In fact, as soon as I heard it, I knew who was voicing the character.
100% agreed. I didnt know the name but his voice and face immediately triggered recognition for me. Same with the actress playing Masako - both are the reason I ended up swapping to the English dub just to get their performances. It would be a shame to re-cast either of them, IMO.
Id really rather not have every second character be a Shogun character - they are all incredible of course but i just like having a movie mostly maintain its own identity and not be “the movie that cast all those shogun actors”.

James Hiroyuki Liao should be Kenji. He was the voice actor and he can act. He would be perfect. He is capable of playing the part of Kenji in a live action adaptation.
Arata Mackenyu would be my choice. Mid 20's, Japanese, handsome, buff, knows martial arts/has extensive stunt training, son of the legendary Sonny Chiba and has starred in a lot of Japanese movies.
And wouldn't it be poetic to have the live action Zoro portray Jin Sakai, a(nother) character voiced by Kazuya Nakai, aka Zoro himself from the One Piece anime?
I'd say if the adaptation gets made, it's very unlikely it will be in Japanese. It's an american property, will be financed with american money, and will more than likely star american actors. Japanese would be great, but I really doubt it.

2. They did all the physical acting for the characters.
3. The characters were designed to look like them already.
Other reasons are that the actors aren’t complete no-names, they are in everything fro prestige TV to big-budget movies, so they’d do a good job in a big adaptation of the game. They’re also not a-listers, so they wouldn’t break the budget. Not to mention the fact that they all did a really good job in the game.

I actually heard that Hiroyuki sanada was in talks for a role in the ghost of Tsushima live action movie, it is probably lord shimura but and this may be controversial but I’d actually be ok with him as the role of Jin.
Eh it’s just my opinion, I just think his role as shimura would be too similar to the one he plays in shogun, and while not a good movie we saw that in mortal kombat he can do fight scene’s very well but that’s just what I think.
Me neither. I always thought it was some randie Nagao Lieutenant. If that really was him in the flashback, they could've given him a helmet with his clan crest and maybe a cape or a special sword sheath

I was with you until you said Masi Oka as Kenji. I don't think Masi Oka has the same charisma on screen or looks for Kenji. I would much rather have Hiroshi Sogabe.
To be honest I'm not sure I want to see a Ghost of Tsushima movie... Video game adaptations have been notoriously bad, and I don't think there is much ground to make a real movie that is not just a bunch of overly ridiculous action scenes ... I absolutely love the game, but really I feel a movie would do more harm than good :(
Agree with most, except Anna Sawai as Yuna. It feels a bit ehh, I mean both Mariko and her character from Godzilla don't have the Yuna energy, not sure she can pull that off, not to mention there's no facial likeness as well.

But I know the average fan isn't too bright and they'll whine if they aren't all doppelgangers. Not to say this isn't quite impressive by the way.
