Badgermolesarecoolio

i know this is gonna be a lil weird, but i really loved norio.

fckChachi

Not weird at all! I found his arc very intriguing. His struggle with morality was his driving force

Badgermolesarecoolio

his entire lore even with his brother, was so nice. It gives you an out of game experience. It really does feel like its a NORIO tale, and not just a side quest in jins crusade.

sharksnrec

I came here to say Norio. Such a chill but capable companion and his side missions were some of the best.

chefroxstarr

See the Buddhist guy? I can't remember the monks name but that's my favorite NPC and I think his side quests are the best.

sharksnrec

Yep, warrior monk who looks like a big jolly guy but is really a badass who stands on business

MrBigTomato

I loved Norio because so many characters are bad-ass and know they’re bad-ass and continually talk about themselves as such (i.e. Masako, Ishikawa, Ryuzo). But with Norio, he has no desire to be some bad-ass fighter, and doesn’t really see himself like that (even though he is). A little humility is refreshing in a game full of legendary warriors.

TheMightyHornet

He’s my favorite, honestly.

woomybii

Norio was the best! I adored him

Magician-Antique

My only gripe is I wish we met him sooner in the game 😩 His arc is goated

yellowwingeddarter

Came to say this I love him

dangstaB01

It doesn’t sound weird at all; Norio’s a real one

Whipped-Champion

Why would you think it’s weird?

micahclaw

Same

cringecrims0n

I loved first my horse so much rip Kage I will always remember you

The-Iraqi-Guy

No no, Kage is alive and well, Sora on the other hand ......

JRTerrierBestDoggo

No no, sora is alive and well Nobu on the other hand…

ThatGuyinOrange_1813

MY NOBU

Bell-end79

I trapu my nobu in the doora

rprcssns

These were my two as well! RIP Sora.

zixine

exactly the same as me

ABuck117

The worst part of a second playthrough is hearing Jin say things like “One day we’ll go on a peaceful ride together”. It’s enough to make a grown man cry.

KeyboardGrunt

I knew it was coming so I took Nobu on a nice slow ride by the coast, occasionally stopping to pick flowers or disemboweling the odd half dozen mongols. It was so peaceful.

JonYoon08

Our mischievous sake swindling sidekick Kenji of course

fckChachi

The one comic relief of the whole story. Idk about english, but his japanese voice acting was AMAZING

FMDnative480

He was just as great in English. I loved watching the way he ran everytime he was talking lol. It was just so hilarious to me to hear him speak while he ran so fast with such little strides 😅

fckChachi

Ahh i’m happy to hear that! :) I just know the VAs had a blast in the studio recording those lines and sound fx lol

JacobDCRoss

He also has a real character arc.

Neknoh

I could never decide between a heavy sigh or a loud shout... but my words were always the same when he went "Well... hehe..." "God damnit Kenji!"

Who-s_Your_Daddy

The only downside was he didn't get enough screen time.

SMWW66

I’m on team Kenji, both on this sub and on r/seriouseats

FugginCandle

Love Kenji hah, he’s so stupid

Funky_Col_Medina

My one and only cybercrush is on Yuna

fckChachi

I mean how can you NOT love her… ;)

Funky_Col_Medina

For real, and it [is cool that she looks the same IRL,](https://m.imdb.com/name/nm0599019/mediaviewer/rm953379840/) just a solid companion all around

Unable_Wrongdoer2250

Damn they got some seriously talented artists

Funky_Col_Medina

Mocap, baby!

Unable_Wrongdoer2250

Of course, still it takes a lot of talent to reproduce the finer details in 3d.

Putrid-Peanut-5798

Yeah I would defend an island for her. You'd find me laying on the beach afterward but ye

Funky_Col_Medina

Lolz hell yeah

retromexicat

Cause I adore her SO MUCH! She my wife (Jin’s wife)

Unknownredtreelog

I actually liked Ryuzo storyline a lot, really wished we had more scenes a with him.

fckChachi

Fr! I was hoping for some sort of flashback to Jin and Ryuzo as young friends so we could build up that betrayal a bit more!

theShireboundBusker

how did that sting so much despite being quite predictable?!

TrashInspector69

The scene where he burns the dude (I haven’t seen anything of him past that yet) really stung hard. What a spineless coward.

Otherwise_Froyo_7951

At that point, killing him was a mercy he was haunted since that moment you could tell he knew he chose the wrong side and he didn't see a way out his story was very emotionally compelling

Otherwise_Froyo_7951

Same here ryuzo was my favorite tragic villian killing him was almost as emotionally moving as fighting and sparing Jin's uncle and I really think he needed more screen time and quests the straw hat duels and the star hat enemies in general were my favorite to fight

WingedSalim

Lady Masako mainly due to her story arc. At first, she is presented as the ideal head of the family. She loves her husband, her estate, and her family. But slowly, you discover how imperfect she was. Her infidelity, her disregard to her servants, and her strained relationship with her sister. It just hammer home one of the themes of this game. Your role in Japanese society vs. the imperfect reality. Like Ishikawa as his role as a sensei and Norio with his role as a monk.

Korostenetz

She also supports or doesn't seem to mind Jin's ninja tactics and even uses them herself. Her final mission you also get to fight samurai grunts which is a nice break from slaughtering Mongols and bandits.

Republic1792

You've summed up perfectly why Masako is my favourite character.

KazeFujimaru

Yuna and Norio. Yuna’s character is such a critical one on many levels to the story and themes/Jin’s arc.

Otherwise_Froyo_7951

I love yunas' character and how they did the romance it was very subtle but always implied how they felt about each other it was very tastefully done all soul bonding and no lust

KazeFujimaru

Well said. You feel the blossoming of the potential for romance but not yet fully realized between them. Instead a bond of friendship, respect and trust is established first which is such smart and mature story telling. Also she is huge in making Jin realize he must ultimately reject the samurai code/mindset in the end. From the samurai perspective, someone like Yuna would be considered trash and the dregs of society. Jin comes to see her as someone he trusts and respects, and someone of great bravery….thus making his differences with the samurai view irreconcilable.

PaintedBlackXII

Tomoe the only baddie

fckChachi

Personally I’m a huge fan of Sugi ;) https://preview.redd.it/mz6i1kpe3r9d1.jpeg?width=2160&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0358740f55893e38e2118070d58cd9096296de20

theShireboundBusker

used her hat as my primary headgear after i got it, yo

2big4Udude

Ngl i forgot who she is but i do remember using that hat pretty often

ExplorerHermit

Yuriko for me. Her quest is short but hits so hard I had to take a break after finishing it.

Hegemege

Yuriko's voice acting in Japanese is great, the way she speaks is full of almost motherly love towards Jin, from when she had to take care of Jin after his mother passed away. The whole quest line is full of such moments and it's much more enjoyable if you understand the Japanese dialogue, as it often has more nuance than the English captions

A_Mouse_In_Da_House

I think that's kind of a big issue with the English vs Japanese language debate. People like the English voice acting while neglecting the burden that a lot of Japanese words carry with them. The English VAs are great, and I'm only at an N5 level, but the Japanese language and English captions don't match meanings with the captions missing tons of the weight. It really shows the care of the translation into Japanese when they can delicately add complexity to dialog like that

LlQUIDATION

This^ It’s the only questline that consistently makes me shed a few tears, even tho I know what’s comin

AceKnight1

Ishikawa.

Sgt_FunBun

surprised i dont see more respect for Ishikawa, true OG

throwawayalcoholmind

Thing about Ishikawa is he constantly acknowledges his wrongdoing, and then does whatever it was again immediately.

Sgt_FunBun

lol u know what that's pretty fair

FatSnorlax1

Where’s Lord Shimura on this list? Dude has insane pathos.

fckChachi

https://preview.redd.it/6vkwk3fh4r9d1.jpeg?width=2160&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1d63e4e58740fe30af0fdac2cfbecbcd89f72069 His relationship with Jin is one of the most heartbreaking arcs I’ve ever experienced in a game.

Otherwise_Froyo_7951

Absolutely I actually felt tears well up in the final story I spared him I felt Jin could have elaborated more on his moral stance though shimiru accused him of having no honor but honor is exactly what Jin had the most of he sacrificed everything his cushy life as a noble his reputation his inheritance his family name all for what he knew was the right thing to do saving lives is more important than feeling better about the way your enemies die Jin prioritized the lives of his people and fellow warriors more than a rigid sense of tradition and outdated rules of engagement

throwawayalcoholmind

On him or towards Jin?

OderinTobin

They’re all pretty awesome. Each picture I scrolled to next had me going “Ok. This one.” But Kenji might edge out the rest. I especially love his little conclusion on Iki. Off the top of my head, no other characters return for Iki Island. By the way, the Iki Island characters are also superb.

Anxious-Meeting310

The most random characters come back in Iki when affected by the spoiler. Once I inspected a body covered in arrows and the tengu monk from the longbow quest showed up. Also I was scared of crossing a bridge for ages after the khan appeared on a random one while I was crossing it.

fckChachi

Seeing her kids on the beach broke me a little bit :(

nthemorning

fckChachi

The *real* hero of Tsushima

Zairy47

I mean, Yuna is there twice...so...

erikaironer11

Yuna 100% I really wished she was more in the game for being such an important character. Saving Jin’s life, convincing him to bend his honor code, planting the idea of him being a “vengeful spirit”. She doesn’t do much in Act 3, I wished there was another character moment they shared together like they did right before the Seige of Yarikawa

Odd_Dragonfruit_3414

Her story deserved more than 4 parts, I agree. If Norio got 9, Yuna should have too

NotEzek1el

Sorry… but it has to be Yuriko

Tormentor666

Yuna (without her there wouldn't be any Ghost) Norio (His tale was amazing, him going rogue was something i totally didn't expect at all)

tarlakeschaton

norio, ryuzo and kenji are the peak of the game imo

MtDewEnjoyer

Masako and the ghost of iki

Plus-Statistician320

Lady Masako had the most depth as a character. And her story was the most interesting and human.

Stiefie2002

Taka. At first i didn’t really like him but after what he did for us he grew alot on me. Wear the ghost armor and changed my build and playstyle to fit it in his honor

Plus_Rip886

Kenji or taka.

Punchthem00n

Kenji then Norio.

Lancer_Blackthorn

Ishikawa. Loved his storyline.

Raellix

Ryuzo is my favourite I just wish we could've gotten more stuff with him and jin in flashbacks. especially the tournament they kept on talking about in the game

7777redd

Kage!!!!

fckChachi

I cared more for that damn horse than anyone else

Ok_Swordfish5813

I consider Ryuzo a tragedy, a close friend driven to desperation. He woulda really been a good ally

Classic-Ad-7079

I really liked Tenzo. His tie in to the story and the relationship with Jin that was built from that was really cool.

Diet-Awkward

It's a tie between Lady Adachi and Norio. They just have the best character arks. Ishikawa is kind of a jackass from the start to finish. He's cool though.

theShireboundBusker

I've a soft spot for Masako coz she was Julie in Friends lulz

melonsama

I might be the only mf who liked Lady Masako and her story.

shawtysnap

Kenji, obviously

smalls887

Ishikawa

__NuckingFutz__

I know this isn’t listed but man the only time I felt sad was when Kage died, the horse companion you get at the beginning of the game He was my favourite, and apart from that Yuna is one of the most favourite supporting characters

Upset_Potato1416

***SPOILER WARNING*** Currently on my first playthrough and working my way through liberating all of Kamiagata, and honestly.... it's a toss up between Lady Masako and Yuna. The pain I felt in my heart when Masako had the audacity to force me into a duel....I didn't wanna fight her, because she was definitely my favorite character at that point. I've mostly forgiven her because I know she was acting from a place of pain and grief, but it was certainly heartbreaking for me. I was definitely shipping Yuna and Jin for a while. But then that broke when Taka died the way he did....after hearing Yuna's scream of anguish, I can't imagine her having to look at Jin every day, knowing he lived while her brother didn't. When that happened, I literally cried for like half an hour and had to take a break and stop playing for a while. And knowing it was coming when I saw that she was the one who opened the door....my heart dropped 😭 I can't wish the two of them together because I can't wish that pain on her. My husband played the main story before I did (I played Legends for a long time, but he did the main story), and he put it perfectly: Ghost of Tsushima is a game that plays you while you play it.

ComfortableSpite2733

Taka

DbD_Fan_1233

ThaTr3eG0d

Lady Masako. Such a savage. What bloodlust.

Masako for the win for me

Taka. RIP to the homie.

strawberry-moons

i had to scroll so far for taka :(

MadMichael77

My man Kenji, obviously

[deleted]

Ryuzo

Nirico_Brin

Sensei Ishikawa, I love that man’s voice and his ability to fire back at anyone with no hesitation.

GamingGlove14

Honestly sensi ishikawa (I think I misspelled that), his arc really interesting

Illustrious_Leg8204

That guy on iki island Story felt more fleshed And the acting was better

ViperShark679

Definitely Norio and Yuna

ophaus

Yes.

Chance-Target-4024

No one talks about Taka?!

Apprehensive_Ad_8273

Kenji has been growing on me

J-Russ82

Kenji, Norio, heck I even respected Lord Shimura.

BasheerFidanator

Masako is so irritating. Keeps killing the witnesses

ChingueMami

Why are you pics soo smooth and sharp? Ps5? PC?

No-Second-3808

Taka! Taka will always be epice!! Dude was amazing and changed the game for Jin with his gift of the grappling hook and that bad ass Ghost Armor. Taka had an amazing heart and just wanted to help and be better! Taka will always be a legend to me!💪🏽❤️‍🔥🤙🏽

BEARWYy

The fat monk guy look just like me irl

ravnclaw64

Yuna and Taka. Ik it’s cliche as hell but I wanted Yuna and Jin to end up together in the end and for all three of them to be a family. This didn’t/cant happen for obvious reasons😔

Sahphyr

I loved Sensei Ishikawa, but Yuna also has a very big place in my heart <3

raccooneyes622

100% Masako, her vengeful mother story really gets me and she’s also the most useful in a fight imo

Historical_Use_7585

Mine was Lady Masako with here revenge arc

Appropriate-Top9817

Bri if someone says ryuzo he is an actual opp💀

otfjaycie300

I’m still mad that one girl who saved him didn’t let bro smash after he confessed his love for her granted she saved his life and was in battle with him and executed a plan to save the island but still 😒

ImTheCuRsEd-OnE

![gif](giphy|WtRGgAZRGT3C0BZu4T)

Mitchboy1995

Lady Masako for sure.

SnooDoubts7752

Imagine if ryuzo didnt betray jin and they just duo the entire mongol army

Competitive_Coat_449

All of them are good characters

Madvillains

Taka

PizzaTime666

Kenji, he's such a POS but i like him. And his arc about trying to be good but fucking it up every time is so funny.

Nankasura

These screenshots are beautiful.

Weztside

I love every single character, but Ryuzo had the best missions. His last mission decided it for me. There's just something cool going on when you do it right after becoming the Ghost. It's like your first act as the Ghost is an act of vengeance against your oldest friend. I can't imagine being betrayed by my closest childhood friend and then...well...you know the rest.

topgunna88

Norio. Final answer . His arch moved tf out of me. So gentle, but he was harboring alot of guilt and anguish that he could no longer let control him. I wish I could hug him, and share a bottle of sake, too.

boop66

Dementia grandmother was the most moving, and also my least favorite.

Conscious_Ordinary66

Hands down Norio for me

TrapolTH

NOBU MY BOY

Poirot777

Kenji. I initially thought he would turn out to be a baddie. But, I ended up loving the character arc. He owes a lot of Sake to Jin!!

Give_me_xRENTx

Yuna and Taka

Fireballfree

First pic gives me major Death Stranding vibes but I can’t quite articulate why

Williamandsansbffs

Ugh, really hard to choose between Yuna and Masako. Yuna's whole role in the story is just perfectly written, and she's an amazing character. Stays true to herself and her beliefs, and isn't afraid to be blunt about the flaws in something. She is the driving force of Jin's arc. However, Masako's storyline is the one that made me LOVE this game. Just pure tragedy, mystery upon mystery built up. And they don't even make Masako just "chill out" like trauma is supposed to just come and go. It sticks with her the whole game and onwards, and she's STILL grieving throughout.

SnooDonkeys8149

Everyone kind of sucked except for the one guy that died

natazz1011

kenji and norio had some of my fav quests and dialogue for SURE

ConferenceTemporary7

Masako fs

yaboyardeee

Ryuzo had me weeping I understand his reasoning so well and him even surrendering after realizing his mistake broke me that we still had to kill him

Cryptoking300

The Foxes.

DurdleTurtle2634

All of the characters are awesome, but my favorite has to be Yuna. The way the game builds her and Jin's relationship is so well done

Friendly-Pitch-5931

Yuna

DarlingOvMars

Ngl man i loved em all

ElfDruid98

Lady Masako I love her sm

IAm_The_Reaper

2 or 7 tbh

Sanderson96

What was the girl’s name? The one that turned from one of the character’s pupil into a thief left by boat

BlasterIce

Taka chan my son

voidstronghold

Yuna, and she seems to get little respect. Yuna in some ways has a bigger impact on the story than Jin. Without her the game would be over in 10 minutes and Jin would die. And yet people always love the goofball sake guy more. Priorities people.

DevilsDarkornot

Kenji that sly bastard

RazorRaptorRexaDozer

Yuna my queen 🙇🙇 And it's not even for (only) ship reasons She is the one pretty gave birth and fanned the flames for the idea of the Ghost She found a defeated samurai And gave him inspiration to become the victorious ghost

yellowclove

Kage is the right answer

Syns_1

I actually loved Shimura’s character, if he counts as a support character

aWalkingCarpet

I forget the Nanny's name when you return home. That entire sequence felt very cathartic.

Hexnohope

Ryouzo actually. I really felt it everytime we fought. It hits harder when you really do have a friend irl who fell off and you didnt.

Balitonic

Norio. Not only is his tale amazing, but occasionally when he fought mongols with me his character model would glitch. He would literally 360 no scope his enemies.

CHuye670

Yuriko was mad underrated-really short and really sweet. Plus the Blowpipe is also a mad underrated weapon.

lightfull5020

Think that monks story line was good

ConversationGlum9861

Yuna & Kenji 😭

UserAccountSuspended

I’ll say it because we all know it’s true but none of us has the strength to say it………. Khotun Khan is the best character aside from Jin…. All he wants is to be loved by his grandfather Gengis and his cousin Kublai. And he would have gotten away with it too if it wasn’t for that pesky dishonourable samurai/OG ninja

00Raeby00

Yuriko. I don't speak Japanese whatsoever but there is something about the way her VA would talk that I felt a mixture of love, adoration and pain when she had to do things she doesn't really want to do for you. The game tries really hard to sell you on Jin's relationship to his parents, especially on Iki island but I felt way more impact from Yuriko in 4 minutes of screen time than half a dozen talky meandering monologues about Jin's mother. I've only ever played with the Japanese voice overs if that matters.

Davidddsss

4th pic looks real af

OzenTheImmovableLord

The granny. I completed all three missions and damn was i on the verge of tears at the end of the storyline. Her death felt real out of all characters because she wasn’t a superhuman fighter and she didn’t do or try any herculean task, she was just a loving grandmother.

raidenpwnr

Lady Adachi because her revenge was just + Yuriko, she is too sweet and of course, the unhinged Kenji, he actually made me laugh a couple of times
