I wish I were but honestly it worries me. I separated from my ex, then we tried to get back together and it was a disaster. I’m just glad we didn’t have kids so we didn’t put too much pressure on the relationship. I hope they aren’t staying together for Poppy’s sake.
My aunty and uncle stopped in at a bar to celebrate finalizing their divorce. They ended up going home together and stayed together another 12 years lol might be alright
i think this is a good thing; it's just weird their daughter will read about this probably at some point. im sure a lot of divorces are called off but the kids never need to know
It ruined large portions of my childhood. Any Little League game was a powder keg; every phone call was a minefield. I still don’t feel comfortable when my parents are both in the same room for their grandchildren’s important moments.
Damn, I'm sorry to hear that bro. I haven't had children, largely because I know there is so much generational trauma on both sides of my family. I'm 41 now and it's only been recently -- after 2.5 years of therapy -- that I feel like I have the emotional stability to have children.
Yea, they may have an agreement where they may have an open relationship as to not fuck up the money and the kids. I’ve seen that with rich couples a lot
Hell it’s common place in athlete relationships. Had some friends PA a round table of NBA guys way back and before cameras rolled they talked about their girlfriends/side chicks in each NBA city. The wives and mainstream girlfriends knew, it was just price of being an NBA wife with the promise they came back to her and their shared home.
Hell that was the rumor round DJ and Paulina.
There are few things I care less about than the personal love lives of golfers.
However ironically the fact that this is going to be a huge story IS the problem since the social media engines will turn and spit out vile garbage and it may end up affecting him on the golf course.
“A good athlete can tune that out”. Yeaaah well good athletes never had to deal with twitter until a few years ago. Even Tiger’s Thanksgiving day drama came before twitter and Facebook really ramped up back in 2007.
The world is different for guys now. They need an unnaturally thick skin to take the nonsense that gets thrown at them from the keyboard psychologists.
I know they are. As evidenced by the fact that many of them have Twitter accounts and post on Twitter personally:
Grayson Murray for example
Lexi Thompson who attributed her retirement in part to the difficulty of seeing criticisms on social media.
Rory has made several Twitter and Instagram comments and posts that have gone viral for his opinions on certain subjects…
Phil Mickelson, Max Homa, Lee Westwood, loads of other golfers who are known to post and comment on Twitter.
So yeah… I think they scroll Twitter.
What you think because they have money they don’t care what the world is saying about them?
I have no money. But the world isn’t talking about me on Twitter.
You don’t think celebrities and athletes feel the effects of the negative comments from the peanut galleries when their lives or athletic performances are placed under the microscope?
You kidding? I've read countless stories from athletes, actors, etc talking about how hard it is having to read about themselves constantly on social media.
Good for them.
When you have kids, everything changes. I dont care what anyone says, divorce affects kids BIG TIME.
Bottomline... I am just a big believer when you have kids, that your life isn't about you anymore. It's about being a team w your wife and taking care of the kids.
There is def SOLID reasons for divorce, absolutely...for example, infidelity, drugs or booze, and or constant fighting... or hiring a hit man is def a deal break🙃... Sure, then it may be the best for all involved to split... but if you can make it through the issues, and try to be at least civil w each other... at least try to make it work till the kids are out of the house if you can.
So, stand up move by Rory.
Not divorcing also affects kids big time fyi.
The priority for a healthy relationship is prioritizing a romantic and healthy relationship with your spouse first, so as a bi-product you can be healthy and happy taking care of the kids.
It is not healthy to take a “kids over everything” approach. At least in my mind it’s ass backwards. That’s how you let go of yourself, lose balance, and your health takes a hit.
This is every divorce thread on Reddit. My broken home messed me up. But for every one of me, there’s some who had parents that stayed together, sucked, and created an equal load of baggage.
I’d assume like most things in life, it’s a big old, well, it depends…
Re-read what I wrote. Nowhere in there did I say prioritize your personal happiness.
I said prioritize your relationship with your spouse so that you can show up for your kids.
Parents who do a “kids are the number 1 and only priority” usually fall out of love, have marital issues, and it sets a bad example of what a romantic relationship is for your kids.
I agree with that. My point from my original post is that it’s self sabotage to have a “kids over anything” mindset and just staying together in a marriage for the kids.
It is healthier for divorce in a lot of cases.
Agreed, hence why I said there are legit reasons for divorce as I stated in my post.
My only point was that I feel like this next generation gives up to easy when things get hard. So I was simply stating IF you can weather the storms and be civil and make it work, and still love each other.. then make it work.
Again, if you stay w someone and lose yourself and life is hell, then the kids lives are prob hell as well... then, at that point unfortunately the right move maybe to call it quits, and gives the kids some peace.
> but if you can make it through the issues, and try to be at least civil w each other... at least try to make it work
My parents were civil most of the time. They argued occasionally but never any violence or anything, and mote times then not it wasn't even arguing. But there was never much of a time where they showed they loved each other.
I grew up watching two people staying together, never loving one another and just going through the motion until finally it had to end. I never saw as a kid what a good, healthy relationship is, because they tried to make it work.
I can't even say how much it affected my because I don't know, but I know I suck at relationships nowadays. And I have to ask if that might be a part of it.
Unhappy, toxic parents are far worse for kids than a divorce. People make big deals out of divorces - people break up all the time, it's okay, it's normal.
I heard something to the effect she was unhappy all the time he spent playing golf and wanted him to dail in back as he got older. Sort of a Tom Brady situation. I don't know if it's true or not but makes sense that they were able to reconcile. She probably came to her senses and realized it was a stupid demand.
If it were infidelity or they just grew to hate each other don't see a reconciliation that quickly.
I think the Balanitis thing was a distraction. I think it was more a matter of his wife saying, “It is me or golf” and not expecting him to choose golf.
That is the report:
>“A point of contention in Rory’s marriage with Erica was that Erica was lonely in their marriage,” the source said. "Rory was a hard person to be married to.
>
>“She knew what she was getting into with his profession, but once they had Poppy, things really changed and she had a new perspective. Erica was usually absent for most of his tournaments and was really focused on Poppy.”

Who cares keep TMZ personal life gossip out of sports. I couldn't care less what is going on in an athletes personal life. Obviously death in the family or something is different but I'm not here to hear about rory's divorce or who someone is dating.
Man, we can't watch one single broadcast without the commentary mentioning the players private lives (on Sky Sports anyway). A player hits a good putt and they feel the need to tell us their marital status/children etc. It's a very weird part of the culture on the PGA Tour.
That's before we get into the shitshow of the Ryder Cup and the parading of the wives.
There's a weird "Family Values" thing about PGA Tour culture. Jeez, Tiger had to hold a press conference because he was dipping his wick elsewhere
Exactly, it's def worse in the pga tour because golfers are held to a higher standard (for some reason) but it's the same in any sport. I couldn't care less about Tom Brady's divorce or dating life.
He shagged the reporter and realised he was really letting himself go? Classic “I want to discover myself” moment, real grim to keep the SO on the back burner rather than committing if you feel that way

This made me burst out laughing
Block party? OK I'll host one
No invites for Neil
Neil about to switch his pick because of new information on the happy hour, still not catching an invite
Why not?
He said on the podcast he was out on the block party this week
He just said he isn’t hosting, but idk if we need that type of energy at the bp
Come through!
Until it's shutdown before Saturday for the good of the neighborhood
sweet Ill bring the booze !

Anybody buy a set of new clubs bc Rory’s divorce got called off?
Oh shit does that mean everybody has to return the clubs they bought *because* of his divorce?
That would be good etiquette
Crap is was about to get a new putter, guess I will just get a new grip an a fresh spray paint.
Just don’t play them for 6 months max
Happy for them 👍
Likewise, I’d be so happy if he won this week but it’s never felt more unlikely
This news feels a little more important…
But… is it?
Probably not!
Happy for little Poppy.
Where’s the first tee and what’s the course record?
Huh, amazing you could save a relationship after that. I guess plenty of divorced people get back together so almost divorce makes sense too.
"that" being divorce papers filed?
[удалено]
Rahm withdraws from the Open, Rory withdraws from the open market. Quite the day
i think this is a good thing; it's just weird their daughter will read about this probably at some point. im sure a lot of divorces are called off but the kids never need to know
When your parents net worth is in the 9 figure range a cancelled divorce is probably the nicest thing you'll read about them.
[удалено]
On the other hand, getting raised by parents who hate each other and are constantly fighting is no picnic.
Fighting, neglect, and poverty post divorce?
You bet. Custody battles are expensive. Constant bad-mouthing of each other, frustration over how the other parents. It sucks a lot for kids.
It ruined large portions of my childhood. Any Little League game was a powder keg; every phone call was a minefield. I still don’t feel comfortable when my parents are both in the same room for their grandchildren’s important moments.

I'm sure she'll know the truth and reasons from them when she's old enough to ask
It's a legal move. Let's come back in a few months.
Good. Hope it works out for the 3 of them
You mean Rory, his wife, and Amanda right?
It’s cheaper to keep her
Why is divorce so expensive? Because it's worth it.
My man

Well, daddy and mommy are constantly apart anyway so plenty of time and place to play.
Lol people like this don't give a shit about their kids
Hell it’s common place in athlete relationships. Had some friends PA a round table of NBA guys way back and before cameras rolled they talked about their girlfriends/side chicks in each NBA city. I’d bang his wife for sure.
I think DJ was banging Jimmy Walker’s wife lol
It ain’t just rich couples
They’re called goomars. Worked OK for Tony Soprano.
Worked well for both of my grandpas too. If it wasn’t for 23&me, they wouldve gotten away with it.
Did it though? 😂😂😂

Lol is this true? I never hear rumors about the guy but wouldn’t surprise me that much
Rumors about yesjulz . She lives in Miami
Just like in House of the dragon

There was pre-nup. But maybe she still gets half of what he made after they got married (2014?) then it would still be quite expensive.
The adultry clause kicked in and nullified it.
this is a good motto, from personal experience...
Ah, a gentleman’s intermission.
So the Amanda rumors were fake then?
Nah. Bro basically got a hall pass.
yikes, that's a wasted hall pass!

Very optimistic of you
Maybe you should lighten up
Maybe you should
Maybe i should
Not only that, but you’re teaching your children what a healthy relationship looks like.
100%. I said that in one of my other comments below the exact same thing
How do you prioritize your personal happiness over your kids happiness, especially when your happiness is tied with being with your kids ?

100% agree, being a parent is hard, it takes a team.
Spoken like someone who didnt grow up wishing their parents would get a divorce.
So, uhh, were you an As I Lay Dying fan?
This is the second time in two days I’ve seen a Tim Lambesis stray shot on a non-music sub.

"irretrievably broken" must mean something different in Northern Ireland
He probably said “Divorce? I’m regrettably broke then” and his lawyer fucked it all up. That Irish accent gets tricky.
Love it!
Lfg happy for them 👏🏽
This is rare. Love to see it.
Moving over to LIV for more family time….

All for the PIP
Amanda Balonis in shambles
Good for them. The Balionis rumour was just that. BS
Who cares
Well it looks like money CAN solve problems
You think he's staying for her money?
More likely he’s staying to keep all of his money
They signed a prenup in 2017 tho?
It's probably cheaper for them both
Funny that he is commenting on rumours after he was the one that filed for divorce. I’d say the rumours had substance.
Sounds like it got her attention.
He’s gonna win the us open !
great news for them.
Like saving par on a 30ft putt after a disastrous first few shots
Apparently she liked dominoes pizza too.
Maybe they are gonna have another baby?
Man figured out its cheaper to not bother lmao
🤣
If its bad enough to file for divorce its gotta be pretty bad. Tough to come back from that i imagine
“We were on a break!!!”
Lmao.

Can my wife make this promise too? Lol
dude was pissed she wasn't there with their daughter when he won the wells Fargo and had a private investigator serve her divorce papers lol
He won 2 tournaments when the divorce was on, so I'll be fading him moving forward.
Fargive and farget
This sub in shambles
How does this effect the betting market

Rumor mill is gonna rumor.
Man I love golf but I can’t imagine giving any fucks as to whether an athlete is married or divorced. Y’all fucking weird.
so when is moving to LIV to play less golf?
I think the Balanitis thing was a distraction. I think it was more a matter of his wife saying, “It is me or golf” and not expecting him to choose golf.
That'd be some serious delusion, marry a Rory-tier golfer and think you can *fix him*.
She worked for the PGA. She knew what she was jumping into. No way she was saying this
That is the report: >“A point of contention in Rory’s marriage with Erica was that Erica was lonely in their marriage,” the source said. Balionis is fuckin gutted by this.
True, but getting gutted emotionally is a still a much better option than getting pounded through a glass table.
😬
Rory really likes to his change his mind re: life-changing moments.
cucked

Who GF?
Well there goes my seduction plans.
good.
So, we betting on Rory this weekend?
man the timing of this and the other announcement is just a weird coincidence.
What announcement
LIV and PGA merger is on the table again. Loads of money up for grabs.
Oh that old story
Yeah, the merry-go-round spins on again.
Yes, obviously a complete coincidence.
Bro saw how much he’d have to pay
He had a prenup anyway
Prenups don’t cover child support or alimony, which can get insane Edit: alimony could depend on the structure of the prenup I suppose
I hope I’m wrong but I’ve seen this song and dance before
He shagged the reporter and realised he was really letting himself go? Classic “I want to discover myself” moment, real grim to keep the SO on the back burner rather than committing if you feel that way
Sometimes you just gotta push things to the brink. Hope it works out for them
This was the right move
Wasting product
She has something on Rory! Something that he doesn’t want getting out.
*in Rory
Erica biding her time. We know how this ends.
There goes his chance of winning another major

He sucks at golf
lol okay
