Ive bought some yardage books with green reads for tournaments. They're about 95% accurate when it comes to green reads. Misses some minor breaks but gets all the major breaks. My understanding is these books are compiled from lidar scans of courses. Maybe I'm wrong on that. Just what i was told from my club pro Id just recommend joining golf logix app if you play a lot of different courses. For like 15/month their gps on course app gives you the same green reads (if they've done your course) as the yardage books they have. If you are a member at a course and routinely play the same course, buying the actual book isnt a bad deal

Ahhh last thing I need is another subscription lol thank you for the suggestion though

Why I just buy the yardage books. 95% of my rounds are at my home course. I got my green/yardage book from golf logix. They had a 50% off deal. Only 27 with shipping. PGA50, DAD50 50% codes may still work. But I must say. Its pretty nice to have. At my home course on this particular hole my drive would always go right. Never understood why as everything sloped towards a pond 260 to 320 out down the left side. When I got my yardage book, saw that at about 220 out down the right side everything slopes right. Couldnt see that on course. So its great to have for more than reading greens.

Right on man appreciate you sharing those with me, I’ll give it a look :)

You can a digital version of putting green breaks from Strackaline (all courses that they have mapped) - Used by USGA in most tournaments. Golflogix offers green maps at a premium and I believe SwingU had this for a premium. You get all courses

I’ll check that out, wouldn’t mind a digital version compared to an actual book. I’m going out on rainy days I don’t care about the weather as I only get two days off a week to play. Would avoid having it ruined in shitty weather. Thanks for the suggestion!

So the strackaline digital are done though a subscription did I miss the one time purchase section?

There is a $99 digital access to all courses (some have green maps, some don’t). You can also buy individual hard copy books. I did the digital access for a yesr, but did not have the patience to use it. Cost is $99 a year which I thought was reasonable. You pay about that much for most other apps that have digital maps of greens.

If you are playing a tournament and don’t have a ton of time for practice rounds I highly recommend it. Great for studying the course and making a game plan. Also great to see what’s ahead of you and know what to hit. If you are just getting it to play a course for fun it’s probably an overkill. If you are going to pebble or something I’d just get their own branded yardage book so you have a keepsake.

If it’s a course that you’re playing a dozen or more times a year it would probably be worth it, right?

I have bought Puttview yardage books for tournaments at courses I don't know well and would recommend them, but I doubt I would use one at a course I know well.

It’s more worth it the first few times you play. As you memorize the course you won’t need it as much, especially if you can use a rangefinder. If you can’t or don’t have one then it’s extremely useful. But compared to other yardage books I’ve used it’s great. It has a lot of great information in there. Lots of yardages and slopes with plenty of reference points. I also particularly liked the 50/100/150 to green circles and 250/275/300 circles to tee to let you know how far trees/bunkers are to the green/tee
