Iāve been watching golf for a while. I saw how he was pre-LIV and there were reasons why he wasnāt a fan favorite. Itās going to take more than a couple tournaments for me to warm up and consider him one of my fan favorites. Also, his jump to LIV and suing the PGA Tour and his former colleagues was letās just say not something that endeared himself to me. His answer about LIV and the PIF trying to mend the world and make it better place in response to a 9/11 question was at best a huge eye roll moment and at worst a total bullshit lie. Just be like HV3 or DJ and say you went there to work less and get more money rather than spew some nonsense. I could have done without seeing him party with Eric Trump the other day, but it is what it is. I dunno. Iām not here to say heās a bad guy and obviously a lot of fans like him and I can see why.
Heās funny? Heās like the most corporate dude ever, you put a mic in front of his face and I start to lose interest. I like watching him mash on the golf ball like a fuckin maniac though
Nobody wants to be hated. He hired the right people to change his image and he leaned into the work like he leans into all his work. Can never fault the man for effort.

I have long said the Netflix show drive to survive was some of the best sports marketing of all time, I genuinely think that this might be in the mix - especially as it comes off as so genuine

On one hand I do think he's genuinely a decent person that had some bad moments that turned people away from him. I've watched him his entire career and always thought well of him.
On the other hand I'm not going to pretend he doesn't have connections to an infinite source of wealth behind a country that has spent a large amount of it actively trying to reshape its own image. Which is to say I think there's someone behind the scenes at LIV pulling the strings for him but he's also a natural fit to help them with that.
Bryson is the man of the hour but golf is spoiled with so many great characters and storylines right now. Byrson, Scottie, Rory, Brooks, Rahm all so good yet unique styles + some of the youtube golfers are hilarious to follow.
