Weirdly my hybrid just down to the fact I top it everytime

YouKnowWho_19

I hit mine great at the fitting. Once I bought it, I top it 8 out of 10 times to the point I don't even try anymore. Went from 3 wood, to 2 iron and now 3 hybrid, but end up just hitting my 4 iron in most cases.

MethuselahsCoffee

If that’s the case then your ball position and setup is wrong at address. It’s not the club

lightstoneone

Try lining up center of your stance and swing like an iron

prussianacid

I'll do anything rather than pull out my 3 wood. I have no confidence in it. I pull out the old 30 year old steel head big bertha warbird 7 wood over it.

YoungThriftShop

Hahaha loved reading that. I have a hand-me-down 1993 taylormade 5w burner with the OG bubble shaft. It rips anywhere from 165-195. I love it and can’t see myself upgrading for a while.

ElTel88

Amen! I have a 17.5⁰ utility iron in my bag, cranked down to 16⁰ and, I know a 3 wood is most people's preference over a 2 iron, but I just cannot use them to save my life.

PCFUTPLAYER

Used to be my hybrid. Now I tee off on every par 4 with it because I hit it dead straight off a tee at least 240/250. Now it's my 3 wood. I hit my 3wood just a little bit further but way more inconsistently. I can't hit it off the deck at all and have been thinking of just taking it out of the bag

Wutsurname

Exact same. I am considering replacing it with a 7 wood. I don't like my 6 iron much and don't carry a 5 iron. My 4 hybrid goes around 225 and I'd hope a 7 wood would go around 210, though I don't know for sure.

ImABsian1

I barely use my 60 degree but keep it in the bag for when I need to skull a green side bunker shot

Mancey_

D 3w 7w 4i-PW 48, 52, 56 Honestly I use most of them. If everything goes to plan, the 5 iron only probably gets used once a round on the longest par 3. The 4i and 7w have similar carry but different trajectory. 4i is a low fade and 7w a high draw. They share the same job, and I choose either depending on wind and shape required. Best advice as a beginner golfer, only hit the clubs you can hit with the most confidence. No beginner is going to hit 14 clubs well. Learn to love about 7 clubs, and gradually add more as your confidence improves

syonxwf

My 5h, because I’m too inconsistent with it. Even if it’s the best club (by distance) from where I am, I’ll opt for a 5i instead (I don’t carry a 3/4i) because I’m more consistent with it. I need to get better with my 5h though, it’ll make my game better.

PleasingDoofy

Mini Driver, 7w, 9w, 5 ,7,9,PW, 56, Putter My least used is the 5 iron. Pretty much use it to just punch out.

gettinswifty222

How do you like the mini driver? What were the biggest pros to it vs driver?

PleasingDoofy

I love it. I have the Taylormade 300 mini. It feels incredibly easy to get into the fairway. With rollout I’m probably getting around 250 yards. So I’m not losing too much from not using my actual driver. I think just the confidence I have with it makes it all that much easier to hit.

AndyAndyAndy22

Driver 3W, 3H, 4-PW, GW, SW, LW, Putter. Never touch my 3 wood or hybrid. Don’t know why I have them in the bag.

TheOctoBox

4i

jarpio

4hy and 60 degree probably my least used clubs. I used to use my 4hy a lot more but I finally figured out my 4 iron this year, so that’s a club I’m looking to replace with maybe a 52.

Sokra81

My longest iron is 5i and I honestly am not too confident in using that so it usually just sits in the bag. I love my 6i and 4h so maybe I should replace it with a hybrid, or just practice more.

flaginorout

I currently only carry 12 clubs. My bag has evolved to only include clubs that I use. I stopped carrying a 3/4/5 wood. I wasn’t very good at hitting them from the fairway, and barely ever used them off the tee. I was going 2-3 rounds without using any clubs in that range, so now I just go from driver to 7 wood. On the small end I was carrying a 54/58 wedge combo. I barely ever hit the 58. So I switched both wedges out for a 56.

MidnightJoker83

Hybrids would probably be a good option

allcryptal

Driver, 3W, driving 3i, 4-PW, 52, 56, 60 I use them all. 3W least used because if I need to club down/find fairway I'll use driving 3i or 4i.

StyrofoamCueball

D, 3W, 3H, 4-9, PW, AW, 54, 58. I've hit my 3W once all year, mostly because it's my oldest club and the shaft isn't good for my current swing. I hit my 3H far enough I just haven't felt the need to buy a new 3W yet.

ham_jabroni

Driver, 3w, 3h, 4-aw, 54, 58 I use the aw the least because I can finesse my pitching wedge the same distance more reliably than a full swing. It also has too heavy of a shaft in it. (Switched shafts only got 7 by accident)

Podtastix

I have a 2 hybrid and 4 hybrid I rarely ever use now that I can hit my 5i and 4i effectively. I find the hybrids are more difficult to hit to a spot. Looking to replace the hybrids with either a 5W and 7W, or a 2/3i and 7 wood.

frankthedutch

Replace it with 7w and 4/5 hybrid

_brangieri

Drive, 3 wood, 5 wood, 4 hybrid, 5-PW, 50, 54, 58 wedges. I barely touch my 4 hybrid. I can’t hit it for the life of me, so many talk about how hard it is to hit their 3wood from fairways or the rough, but I’m actually way more confident with it than my hybrid.

ZealousidealCar3915

T200 I’d say 5iron is the least used. Normally I might say something like a 54degree wedge but after learning how to use them properly it’s not a weapon

gettinswifty222

PXG 0211 Driver 9*, PXG 0311 3W, Hot metal pro 4i with graphite hybrid shaft, hot metal pro 5i steel shaft, 5-P MP-32 irons. Diamond tour golf brand, inazone wedges 52,56, 60. Cleveland mallet putter. I barely use my 60, almost only when it's forced high shot, but even then I try opening my 56 vs the 60. I don't love my 4i because it sits different compared to the mp-32. The toe sits up a little more and I tend to over compensate and hit a bigger fade/slice or I just straight pull it.

Robru469

Driver, 5 wood , 4 hybrid 6,7,8,9,W,AW,54,58 putter Least used club is 5 wood but i use it when necessary

Bringbackfatshaming

I used to be so confident with my 3w but I’ve improved with my distance on all clubs and got pretty good at different kinds of shots with driver that my 3w rarely gets used and when I do need to pull it out I’m not comfortable. Thinking about swapping it for a driving iron but my 19* UW covers that 230-250 distance nicely

sphynxzyz

D, 3w,5w,7w,5-9i 46,50,54,58 wedges, putter. I replaced my 4i with a 7w, and heavily debated on adding a 9w too my bag for the 5i

BluefinPiano

I carry a full set of 14 d, 3w. 3-p, 50 and 56. I rarely ever hit my driver. In the range I hit it fine. In the course I usually just tee up a 3i because i am more confident it will go the direction I want and a little less far. That being said, I just added a Cleveland mashie 2 yesterday and will probably take the driver out for course days until I’m more confident

WrongYak34

3 wood never use it because for some reason I hit my 6 iron as far and better quality

TheeBigRed

D,3w,5w,3h,4i-10i,GW,SW I never use the 5w, I also have A LW that I don’t even keep in my bag. I recently got the 3h and plan to get a 4h gonna try AGAIN to switch to hybrids.😬

hamilspe12

My 3 wood! I haven’t used it in over a year. I keep it in because I like the headcover.

Cna90

T200 and I never use my 4i. Rather hit my 4h soft than 4i any day.

frankyseven

I barely use my driving iron and my five iron. Driving iron because I don't hit it well and five iron because I just never seem to be at that distance. I use my four iron for punch outs and full swings a few times a round.

AnxiousMind7820

D, 3w, 3h, 4h, 5-GW, 54, 58, putter. Rarely use the 3w because I can't hit it off turf, and very few holes are too short for a driver but too long for a hybrid.  Also for some reason I rarely hit PW.  Usually I end up needing 9i or GW.

Specialist_Bee_7651

I have playing most weekends for the past year with [this set](https://www.touredge.com/470-mens-set), comes with Putter, Driver, 3W, 5W 4-5 Hybrid, 6-PW, SW. I added a 50 and 60 degree wedge to make a full set of 14. On my best rounds , I use less than 6 clubs (Usually Driver , PW , Putter , 6 Iron , combo of 7-9 iron). I have little confidence in my hybrids and woods as most people mentioned due to topping and snap hooking the ball. On occasion I use these for tee shots though.

AdAggressive6177

I personally don’t love my 3–W.

egomxrtem

5I, my lowest iron. I rarely use it for full shots as I’ve got a 7 wood and the 5 iron of my set is 22* I do use it for low punch shots out from under trees if needed, and I’ve been doing that more often and getting way more comfortable just making clean contact with it (better than sitting in my bag collecting dust all round)

YogurtNo3045

I started with 7 iron down and played from the ladies tees, once I could play without losing balls that way I added a 6 iron and repeat. I don't carry clubs I don't have confidence in on the course.

Zacht007

3 wood. I hit it pure off the tee, but I’m pretty consistent with my driver to where the 3W doesn’t get used there. And I can’t hit it off the deck so it doesn’t get used on a long par 5, I opt for my 2 iron instead

PoopiePantsMahn

D, 4w, 3h, 4h, 5h, 6-GW, 52° & 56⁰ I don't think there are any clubs I barely use. I use all of them, but it depends on the course I'm playing that day.

Fragrant-Report-6411

Driver, 5w, 7w, 4H, 6H, 7I-PW, 46,50,54,58 wedges, putter, I use them all. If you don’t use your 4I, 5I look into some hybrids

ShooterMcdarren

60 degree. Only really use it for a pitching over a bunker. Or rarely getting out of a deep bunker.

60-strong

Also, there is a difference between not having to use a club or not having the confidence to use it. I often find that, when I drive well, I hit shorter irons into the green. Which means that on good driving days, I don't use my 5 or 6 iron for approaches. For those struggling with 4 irons or 4 hybrids - have you tried a 7 wood. I have also replaced my 4 iron with a 7 wood and cannot see myself ever going back.

DutareMusic

My 3 Hybrid because the dispersion is ridiculously bad and I have zero confidence in it. Pretty big gap between 3W and 4i, have considered 5 wood but my shot trajectory is already pretty high. Maybe a Utility Iron is the answer??

Key-Pain-2372

Keep your 4 iron or replace it with a 3 iron. You always need a low lofted club to punch out of the trees especially as a beginner. Also you could use it to punch up the fairway on par 5s for laying up.

Sad-Temperature6034

I have a full bag minus 1 club I'd say, don't have a wood, driver, driving iron, 4h 4i -pw 52⁰, 56⁰ and 60⁰, I typically don't use my driver and I don't use my 52, usually opt for 56 or 60 if I need a wedge at all, often mainly going for my 60 because I have a sexy flop

jkody

It's OK to have less than 14 clubs. I usually only have 13 and am a single-digit handicapper.

cupafart

If you like your 3 wood then I’d invest in some 4-5 hybrid clubs

CrabOutrageous5074

I've got an old 52 degree that i use as my 'hack out' club, not much else. Don't care about hitting a hidden root or rock.

Equivalent_Buy6678

I used to basically sleep with my 3 wood. I could hit that from just about anywhere. Somehow that changed and cannot hit it off the ground anymore. Still ok off the tee, but that's about all. So that's probably my least used club.

birdiebogeybogey

4 iron. But when I need it, I need it

Big_Satisfaction_644

Driver, 4w, 4H, 6-9i, pw aw gw sw lw putter. Love the driver and 8 iron down.. 4H-7i are fine but 4w gets so little use because I suck, I’m not gonna up and down from 240 even 1/10 times so I’d rather pull out two wedges or an iron and a wedge. I’d rather swing a slow smooth drive off the tee than to go with my 4w. There are two holes I’d like to use it off the tee every round, but I’m just not comfortable hitting it..

ChemicallyBurnedDick

I'm taking lessons soon but I actually took the woods out of my bag because I can't hit them at all. I either top the ball or it shanks dead right if I do connect. No use having it tempt me into using it, and no use having them weigh me down either.

ZeppelinJ0

7i

allthingsirrelevant

I stopped carrying my 4i. Never use my 5 but keep it in there for no good reason whatsoever.

RegularNumber455

My $8 2-iron from goodwill

maggos

From what you say, sounds like a 5w and/or 7w to replace the 4i/5i would be a good choice.

Comfortable_Wheel753

3 and 4 irons. Hardly ever hit them. I've always been a very good fairway wood player and always chose to hit one instead of a 3 iron. Gave hybrids a try at the beginning of the year and discovered that I should have added them to the bag years ago. Dumped the long irons and now have a perfect bag of clubs suited for my game.

mistakeslikeraptors

8 iron…? Not sure why, but I haven’t found a need for it, I can usually go from 7 to 9 or a wedge depending on the situation. I’m actually traveling right now and just packed the Sunday bag w 5W/5H/7i/9i/50/56/P

BGOG83

I never seem to hit my 5i, like never ever. The damn thing looks brand new. I’m always a 4i or 6i away. It’s never a “maybe I should hit the 5i” type of shot and it’s sort of weird. For what it’s worth, it’s always been this way. In each of my last sets of irons the 5i always looked brand new when I got the new one.

CamiloArturo

Today I regripped my clubs. I realized the 5i still had the bar code tag on it… for more than a decade. I’d say I haven’t really used it then hehehe

larryglover

I bought a heavenwood this year and it’s now my favorite club. I’m a 24 hdcp - hit it about 180-190 yds

skimt127

5i and my 60° rarely see action

brad35mm

Driver, 4H, 7i, 9i, PW, GW, SW, Putter

Far-Fox9959

Bought a 4H and now I basically never use my 5i except at the driving range. I hit my 4H longer and straighter so no real point in the 5i.

TheLandFanIn814

I have a TaylorMade Rescue Hybrid. It's like a 6 or 7 but honestly I couldn't even tell you. That's how often I use it lol.
