You’ll probably improve your distances a bit, but you seem to hit it plenty far.

golf_club93

An improvement would be nice! When I was 13 I only got like 185 yards. So I basically always had more strokes to get to the green. That problem is already solved a little bit. I manage to have very consistent strikes with my pw-6 irons. The 5-3 irons I still struggle a bit to get it were I want. So the closer the drive is to the green the better it is! I’m eager to play my first round and to see were I’m at!

Farts_Mcsharty

You'd see gains from a modern driver, but you'd need as good of a fit. Clearly, that driver works pretty nicely for you. A badly fit driver could easily be worse. You may pick up 10y and some on course forgiveness if you are dialed in and get a find a better shaft match. Just more consistency overall. Most of the gains people see are from better fitting processes and off-center misses. In practice, you'd probably notice next to no difference on the course, but if you tracked it over the season you'd probably see some strokes gained.

golf_club93

This thing is not fitted for me, maybe a fitted one would be better in you’re opinion? With the nike driver i’m hitting about the same distance, only a little bit lower in distance and the flight height is much lower because of the 9.5 degree instead of 10.5. the nike driver is completely different in shaft(very stiff) then the taylormade. But consistency is the same

Farts_Mcsharty

You may have just stumbled on a good fit. It happens. Sometimes you just click with a head and a shaft profile/weight. And just about every driver is the same out of the middle and tuned to the USGA limits, so you are close to your maximum out of the middle of that driver. Only a handful of yards to gain there. It's when you start to meander around the face that a modern head and fitting can be very beneficial. Modern heads are far better at managing spin on miss-hits. Undoubtedly, if you get a properly fit driver it will outperform that in every respect and potentially simplify your game, especially if you bias a miss and are dedicated to a shot shape preference. It's just if the cost of that is worth it to you for what could be a minimal gain to a better player if you're consistently catching the middle. But a stiffer tipped shaft, a better spin profile on the head, or some weight changes may get everything tighter. It's just that it could cost you a grand for the new stuff. But when you have numbers consistent as yours, a good fitting, is the only way to really go. It's not like your an older fella needing a low kick shaft, less weight, and a high launching head and any of those things will help them so they can practically just find those things off of the shelf and see a net gain. The only way to fit is just to try a few heads and lots of shafts and see what matches you the best. You can start in a hypothetical place with ideal weight and flex, but that really doesn't mean anything in totality with shaft manufacturers flexes with no set standard and player specific club delivery. You'd be a good candidate for a fitting with those numbers. They are good, but there's enough variance to tighten up assuming these weren't all over the map dispersion wise. That's what new drivers are good at.

ChronicHashish

170~ ball speed after quitting is insane. You don’t need any input from this sub or myself tbh but a new driver would probably give you more forgiveness than anything. A fitting would be ideal. Also, I’d personally get new wedges depending on the current set’s grooves instead of a driver but it is rather old and driver heads are hollow and can deform over time

golf_club93

Well apparently you never unlearn the technique. Only thing now, there is more power behind the technique. the whole trackman thing is insane tbh. Back in the day there was nothing to track down that data. So I don’t know what speeds etc are good or not. Thanks for the advice!

hobby_master_

I had that same driver haha, yea I suggest getting some good 2nd hand driver for 150$, it helps forgiveness distance and accuracy.

golf_club93

If I buy it will be a new one i think. Did you liked the driver? Or did you got a 2nd hand for improvements?

hobby_master_

New drivers are not worth 500-600 compared to a used from a few years ago... But if you are gonna buy new, go spend the 100$ extra to get real fitted and the correct shaft. Imo if you can afford then no problem. But it's expensive compared to getting something just as good for a fraction of the price

WedgeGameSucks

Yeah, you’re good bro. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. This sub is for guys who suck, not like you. We need all the help we can get, you should stay far away from this place before we infect you with our shittiness

golf_club93

well I suck in knowing all the new stuff in golf world. But thanks for the advice haha

Impressive-Market-31

If you have a golf shop that has a simulator, go down and hit some new drivers and see if it improves your distance. I don't know if I would trust the one at dicks sporting goods though.

luckynug

Take your old driver with so you can see if the simulator has jacked up elevation settings

golf_club93

This is actually a good one. Will try this!

EarCareful4430

You may not gain millions in distance, but a fitting for a more modern driver will give you more. What you will almost definitely gain in is accuracy. Modern drivers are incredibly forgiving

thrift-store-keanu

Yes. I had that driver, it’s pretty shit compared to anything in the past 5 years. I got fitted for a shaft/head found a similar head with the shaft on eBay and bought that. Make sure it’s same length/swing weight you’re in now. That’s my advice, upgraded for $200 and it’s made a massive difference for me

golf_club93

The driver is not that bad! I’m actually very curious how a new one feels!

thrift-store-keanu

It’s trash my friend, dirty hot garbage water. Big difference is on bad strikes, new clubs will still go pretty far/straight.

cookie-crumblrr

Yes

TerminallyBill

Go test drive a mini burner

golf_club93

Will do!

Vegetable_Demand_185

Whats your club head speed ?

golf_club93

Don’t know, this trackman only gives ball speed. It is a outdoor driving range.

FrostingHefty964

i have the same one, but the head is now 25 yards into the driving range

golf_club93

😂

Pale-Amphibian-5563

That driver is very cool I would definitely keep it!

OhHeyNow69

Those nike irons will game no problem. Upgrade your wedges and driver. You'll be set.

golf_club93

Irons i’m very pleased with! Only thing they are a little bit to short. But accuracy and consistency are on point!

OhHeyNow69

Its not free but isnt that expensive. Believe you can get a shaft extension. But id not recommend extending more than 1/2" to 3/4".

ttforum

At least try out a new driver. Maybe you actually could hit 350. Never know. Local golf coarses usually have manufacturer days with free “fittings”

golf_club93

350 would be a seriously far drive damn. But the fitting advice i will take, thanks!

anokgolfer

That’s one of the least forgiving drivers ever released. New driver, or anything post 2016/2017 would give you drastic ball speed improvement and forgiveness.

golf_club93

So that serious! I thought this one is very forgiving! Have to try a newer one

anokgolfer

Try even hitting something like a Titleist ts3 and see how that compares

PrimaryAd9613

Krank ……

golf_club93

Krank what?

PrimaryAd9613

lol Krank drivers…..🇺🇸 Bryson and I use them and love them Check them out online

Comfortable_Wheel753

Depends on what you're looking for. Forgiveness, then yes. I still think the Nike forged was one of the best ones released at that time.

Lordship2U

Absolutely replace it! The advances in golf technology has greatly improved since 15 years ago. Look at manufacturers that are using AI Technology.

golf_club93

why AI?
