Look for a paracord strap or have fun and learn how to braid one yourself. Just an idea.

Mathguy_314159

That’s not a bad idea. That could be fun.

YouTube must have a nice video on how to make one. Like a belt just make to lenth and put loops on ends. Or patch at bottom and ties for neck.

TehMasterer01

Shoe strings. No, seriously.

I have a Webb strap that is vinyl. They were out of Bedford VA 25 years ago when I got it.

Mathguy_314159

Thanks that’s good to know I should search for a vinyl material as well.

To help others gauge what's suitable for you: What kind of project are you going for? Will the strap be load bearing, like on a bag, or will it be for a belt? I don't have much experience with vegan leather substitutes, but modern ones seem pretty good. For crafts, I would generally avoid old style PVC pleathers, because they don't take tooling well

I mean I wasnt initially looking for a craft project, I came to the mandolin sub looking for a vegan mandolin strap that goes around my shoulder to hold my instrument. Thought this seemed like an appropriate place.

jammygeyser

Oh... /facepalm.... Thought we were in the leatherworking sub, sorry. Ignore me!

I have a PILE of mandolin straps. Currently I use a single strand of paracord with loops at each end.
