I was in Denali Natl. Park and they don't allow a lot of vehicles deep into the park, but you *can* take a big green bus that the park rangers drive. The drivers also tell stories, and they're great.
So you get a whole bunch of hikers on these busses, and they pull over here and there to look at the animals or so folks can stretch their legs, but it's a national park, they can't risk hurting any of the animals.
Well one day they're driving folks out to Wonder Lake and this big ol' marmot runs up under the bus, and they can't find it. The bus can't move until they find this marmot, and no one wants to look up under the engine housing and maybe dislodge some crazy marmot. They've got guys looking all around the bus - did it go out the back, did it climb up in the engine somewhere, where *is* this marmot?
They can't see it under the bus, they can't find it, and they definitely saw it go under the bus, but no one has seen it leave. It's under there *somewhere*.
So finally the ranger gets himself up under the bus and looks all around and there's the marmot sitting on the differential, just as happy as a clam.
😁
Marmot!
I used to play with them in Colorado all the time.
I'm actually in several people's vacation photos and videos with marmots climbing all over me.
I talked with a lady who took one home with her to her cabin in Boulder, and she said when she was at work one day it dug a hole through the wood floor and escaped out the crawlspace.
Liar.
The plague in marmots is of the pneumonic form, spread by marmots coughing. The plague can jump from marmots to humans through the bite of the tarbagan flea (Ceratophyllus silantievi), or through consumption of meat. Marmot epizootics are known to co-occur with human epidemics in the same area.

I mean they might just be wrong (on the Internet? Inconceivable I know) and not actively lying. I doubt they're in the business of intentionally misleading the public so they can make plague great again.
But nonetheless, good call.
Prairie dogs are not silent, long-term reservoirs of plague; instead over 95% of prairie dogs will die within 78 hours of infection with plague.

Thank you. I just dont like how he made the claim with no source and then said rodentia instead of rodents like he studied this.
Its 2 sec on google.
You're right, I kinda do lmfao, but I'm pretty cautious around wild animals.....unless it's a cat. I go up to street cats all the time, they usually run from me though lol
Are you fucking kidding me? I came here to say: Great video, but what‘s up with the Richard Clayderman-Sountrack?
[Every German Grandma‘s Pianist of Choice.](https://youtu.be/eCCan3TFPoc?si=lfUagntnrXoN2A6s)
Compared to the oh no song and the snidely whiplash laugh track (just to name a couple) added to seemingly every clip on tik tok for years, this is a breath of fresh air.
Hate to be that person, but you shouldn't be feeding wild animals.
This is how you get them killed and people get hurt.
Animals get overly aggressive for food and will bite people, and the animals get euthanized.
They also become dependent on people feeding them food instead of foraging it themselves.
It is a good chance wherever this video was taken, that it is illegal to feed wildlife.
Marmots are a protected species in many places, and to ruin their chances of life to make a cute video isn't cool.
I don't think we should be promoting or encouraging people to make videos like this.
Not to mention that whatever highly processed food you're feeding them is probably really bad for them.
But animal cute! How could you not feed it??? /s
This fatty squirrel would probably make basically a dude friend, just sitting and watching TV and munching on some chips but all the comments about plague bother me a bit.
Yes it's a marmot. And it looks like the steppes of mongolia were they are considered pest and beneficial at the same time, just like the wolves. Would highly recommend reading an amazing book called The Wolf Totem, it's one of my favorite book!
Edit : spelling
I play this song on the keyboard more than anyone will ever know. We play it at Hispanic ceremonies such as 15’s birthday parties for girls, weddings… pretty cool hearing it here.
I’ll never forget the squirrel I gave a couple cashews to at Yosemite, he kept coming back and I started to take a nap on a rock then I thought my sister was poking me to wake me up, but nah it was the squirrel poking me for more cashews
“Okay, campers, rise and shine, and don’t forget your booties ’cause it’s cooooold out there today… the big question on everybody’s lips… On their chapped lips… Do ya think Phil is gonna come out and see his shadow? Punxsutawney Phil! That’s right, woodchuck-chuckers it’s… GROUNDHOG DAY!”
groundhog or marmot? has the coloring of a marmot but his face and belly shape look more like a grey groundhog. in america they're brown and a little shaggier. i've never made friends with either!
Damn that squirrel is jacked!!!
Thought was a polar bear for a second
Mongolian Polar squirrel
In Soviet Russia, Mongolian, polar squirrel store you for the winter! Ha Ha Ha
A real chonky boi.
You’re going to shit yourself when you see an actual polar bear.
Clearly you've never seen a real Mongolian polar squirrel.
Yeah, marmots are nothing more than pumped up squirrels after all
Wildling squirrels.
He gonna steal your girl if she has snacks.
Why do you steal my brain thoughts?
**“Damn, that squirrel is jacked!”** ...for a vegetarian.
Squirrels aren't vegetarian/herbivores, neither are marmots. I don't think any rodents are herbivores actually.
I thought he was gonna smack it's ass in the end🤣
It is something... jacked is not it.
That's a squirrel?!
The squirrel is indeed jacked. Do you see how he drags the cookie?
Why is it so ripped ?
We call them Whistle Pigs where I'm from

Do you want bubonic plague? Cuz that’s how you get the plague.

I feel happyyyyy
That's prairie dogs, different members of rodentia.
Rodentia. Reminds me I need to go on a vacation. Is that in Eastern Europe?

Flea in terror
I'm generally wary of wild animals getting too close to me so it's good to know they are friendly. I'd still keep my distance though lol
I dunno, sounds like you kinda wanna.
You're right, I kinda do lmfao, but I'm pretty cautious around wild animals.....unless it's a cat. I go up to street cats all the time, they usually run from me though lol
Wow, they are really that friendly being a wild animal?
Bober kurwa

You're lying
Yes, that's not a beaver, that's the bober kurwa
Its so nice to not have to mute a video because of horrible music added to it. Adorable video with pleasant soundtrack. Love it so much.

This is the way
Thank you! You’re absolutely right, wild animals should not be fed - for their sake and ours.
Bro got his foodie friend
They are the source of plague.
You should have booped his nose
Hey hey hey. Sorry about the bubonic plague, but we're good right ? You gonna eat all of that yourself?
When I do it, they look at me like a weirdo
Feeding wildlife disrupts their natural behaviors, leading to loss of fear towards people. Respect wildlife and refrain from feeding them.
Not to mention that whatever highly processed food you're feeding them is probably really bad for them. But animal cute! How could you not feed it??? /s
I think this is my wife's spirit animal
Marmot: You has food... I friend now.
Little buddy gettin' chonky!
Cocaine bear's cousin
This fatty squirrel would probably make basically a dude friend, just sitting and watching TV and munching on some chips but all the comments about plague bother me a bit.
Millenia of evolution... and here we got a fat squirrel addicted to biscuits

Why are people feeding animals with crap? I don't get it.
