Haha certainly did, wish he would’ve dived a little deeper, but it was informative nonetheless.
He goes so deep into the Kendrick seasons, but this one I felt was covering too much ground for one season.
I did Radiohead and it was great because it was one album. He could have done two seasons on Doom’s catalogue. Maybe more.
Edit - I was happy he finished with that’s that I always thought it is my one doom song I’d play if someone asked about him. It’s just so fucking dense I can’t believe it. He also didn’t address the Roger Rabbit clip at the end with Judge Doom!
I gotta listen to the radiohead one. One of my favorite bands.
Totally agree tho. He could have done one season alone on madvillainy and another on MM FOOD
Jummah is the Arabic word for Friday and is also a special prayer day where Muslims go to pray at the mosque, similar to how Christians would go to church on Sundays, and DOOM is saying he'll catch them after his done praying.
Love this track
So "on cue" actually means like a pinpoint time, and I think "laka" is like a gun noise, so I always thought DOOM was saying as soon as I'm finished Jummah, I'm ready to go handle business basically.
Hope this clears things a little more, anyone else have any other thoughts about this? This is what I love about DOOM's music, it's open for discussion and their can be multiple interpretations or meaning for just one of his bars, and I love hearing people's takes on it as well.
I'm not the first to agree, but hell yeah. I use this as a go-to for people who don't know Doom, especially when bars are considered. Lots of rappers have lots of great songs with great beats, not a lot of them rhyme inside of their rhymes inside of other rhymes.
Gazzilion Ear is fuckin mental, he tears the mic up for 4 minutes straight, also, it features J DILLA. That being said:
"ALREADY WOKE SPARED A JOKE BARELY SPOKE RARELY SMOKE STARED AT FOLKS WHEN PROPERLY PROVOKED MIRROR BROKE". First 5 seconds of Thats that. Idk why nobody talks about Born like this, DOOM is at the top of his game in this album.
Good point! I listen to Born Like This often but only now, because of your remark, realize how little discourse I’ve seen on it. It’s always MM FOOD, Operation and Madvillainy (all 3 are great of course but the man released more)
I am kinda all over the place with DOOM as ive started with DANGERDOOM album and then proceeded to listen random songs from him, so ive never listened Operation as a whole. Born like this is actually one of the few albums til this day that ive gave it a full listen and fuckin love it.
Because of the lyrics or because of the beat? I get that it is homophobic but as i am not a native, i dont get the grasp at how bad is what he is saying.
The lyrics/subject matter lol
I know the beat is kinda jarring on the ears too, but that wouldn’t make a difference i think had he not made an entire song about being homophobic💀😭
Ive listen again and ive got the feeling that its just he being so picky and dumb, as going homophobic as a an act of his villain persona and is just messing around calling two comic characters gay.
I mean, just go listen to something like Where The Hood At from DMX, my guy over there was clearly commiting hate crimes.
Yeah I wouldn’t say it’s like a mean spirited homophobia, it’s just incredibly cringe and kinda juvenile, really dated too in modern American culture. Makes sense cause it’s him messing with his son who loved batman, but it’s just a swing and a massive miss to a lot of people.
Triple down on Hard af, the beat goes hard, the rhymes are hard and the whole thing strike you really hard.
Def one of his most non easy listening album, you need to digest it slowly. While you can pop out Rapp Snitches or Curls at any place and people will like it, one cannot simply play out loud Thats that, Batty boys, Gazillion ear or Cellz without anyone going "wtf is playing? put my drizzy back, bro".
I really into harsh and dirty music recordings, i mean, take led zepp II, the first album by the black keys, early metallica or, to keep it on hip hop, nothin but a g thang. It adds a flavour to it, i just love it!
"That's that" is pretty much a song where doom is testing himself to see how many words he can rhyme together in 2 minutes.
Vaudeville Villan's title track is another personal favorite of mine.
For me this album is like Nirvana's In Utero. Maybe their most advanced and sophisticated album, but not as hyped as the others. Same for Born Like This.
Do not stand still. Boast yo skills. Close but no krills. Toast for po 'nils. Post no bills. Cost to cost Joe Scmhoes flows ill go chill not supposed to overdose No Doz Pills.
Went to a shower where a soul band played doom beats while local dudes rapped and the guy who did figaro fucking killllled it, made me realize how hard that song goes
I mean, it's not *that* vague. "Rappin his ass off" is a pretty common phrase with DOOM fans, at least that I've seen on here. Plus I gave a pretty exact example of what I meant with the song. The replies really are on point though. I turned them into a really nice playlist of DOOM doing his thing to his highest ability.
Beef Rapp. Especially the ‘rhyming cannibal’ and ‘stripping males’ bars.
And on the Meat Grinder episode of the Dissect podcast, I think they said he rhymes over 90% of the syllables. Not words, syllables. That’s just incredible.
I might be the only one that got into him because of this song. My buddy showed me the song and pointed out the line “its like a murder spree get sniped verbally, and beat in your head with lead pipe languages”, and got hooked.
I had no idea how to put into words why my favorites were what they were. But the comments have listed up all my top faves and i have everyone here to thank for that, thank you guy
I believe figaro, vomitspit, that’s that, gazzilionaire, beef rap, the fine print, meat-grinder, dead bent, fazers…the Figaro YouTube with the rhymes highlighted just highlights the whole song.
I have only some idea about what DOOM is even saying in Coco Mango but that comes to mind. The Fine Print, I feel like most of his songs could apply though
That’s That
A whopping 96% of the syllables on the track rhyme.
Did you just finish Dissect?? Lol.
Haha certainly did, wish he would’ve dived a little deeper, but it was informative nonetheless. He goes so deep into the Kendrick seasons, but this one I felt was covering too much ground for one season.

Jumah on cue laka!
I don't understand this part. What's he saying here?
I think it's an Islamic reference but don't know what it means
Jummah is the Arabic word for Friday and is also a special prayer day where Muslims go to pray at the mosque, similar to how Christians would go to church on Sundays, and DOOM is saying he'll catch them after his done praying. Love this track
Yesss. Thank you for sharing!
That's all good 🙂 just my interpretation anywho Edit: thank you for the award, that's my first ever haha I'm glad it's on a DOOM post!
I get the Jummah. The "on cue laka" is just like a "booyaka" type noise?
So "on cue" actually means like a pinpoint time, and I think "laka" is like a gun noise, so I always thought DOOM was saying as soon as I'm finished Jummah, I'm ready to go handle business basically. Hope this clears things a little more, anyone else have any other thoughts about this? Nah I think you right. just a weird turn of phrase
It’s the best example of his skill. It’s a masterpiece.
I'm not the first to agree, but hell yeah. I use this as a go-to for people who don't know Doom, especially when bars are considered. Lots of rappers have lots of great songs with great beats, not a lot of them rhyme inside of their rhymes inside of other rhymes.
Really fitting that this is the final solo DOOM release.
🤤

I have a slight theory that BATTY BOYZ single-handedly stopped the hype of this album because of how hard a listen it is lol
Because of the lyrics or because of the beat? I get that it is homophobic but as i am not a native, i dont get the grasp at how bad is what he is saying.
The lyrics/subject matter lol I know the beat is kinda jarring on the ears too, but that wouldn’t make a difference i think had he not made an entire song about being homophobic💀😭

Born like this is my favorite DOOM album. It definitely doesn't get enough credit ( that I see ) Hard af
That's that is my all time favorite for sure
Born Like This is amazing but the subject matter is dense and the production quality is...not good lol. Sounds like he recorded it with a toaster.
I really into harsh and dirty music recordings, i mean, take led zepp II, the first album by the black keys, early metallica or, to keep it on hip hop, nothin but a g thang. It adds a flavour to it, i just love it!
I liked it better with his old style, specifically the 12 inch version of "Hey". Doesn't quite vibe the same on Born Like This
"That's that" is pretty much a song where doom is testing himself to see how many words he can rhyme together in 2 minutes. Vaudeville Villan's title track is another personal favorite of mine.
WHO DONT GIVE A FLYIN FUCK WHO AINT NOT FEELIN HIM
I guarantee you he was not testing himself and he did it effortlessly
Pretty much the entirety of born like this, rap ambush is one of my personal favs
For me this album is like Nirvana's In Utero. Maybe their most advanced and sophisticated album, but not as hyped as the others. Same for Born Like This.
I think people like that DOOM produces almost all of the beats on his other two albums and as a result find it easier to ignore this one
Iirc besides the beat switch in gazillion ear, lightworks and absolutely he produced this one as well
Oh okay. Really wondering why people don’t fuck with it then.
The beginning of Rap Ambush is a fucking train crashing into your grandma's dining room. Hard.
\*gestures at DOOM's entire catalog
There’s so much that could count here it’s actually stupid.
There is a part in Figaro where he goes into a rhyming ultra instinct form
You mean that part where he uses the “oh” sound? Yeah that part blows my mind every time
Do not stand still.
Rap Ambush.

Thank y'all for the replies, you definitely understood the assignment
Such a vague question with such on-point replies
I mean, it's not *that* vague. "Rappin his ass off" is a pretty common phrase with DOOM fans, at least that I've seen on here. Plus I gave a pretty exact example of what I meant with the song. The replies really are on point though. I turned them into a really nice playlist of DOOM doing his thing to his highest ability.
Yeah I know exactly what you meant. Cool that DOOM fans are so unified on his most fire moments
Beef Rapp. Especially the ‘rhyming cannibal’ and ‘stripping males’ bars. And on the Meat Grinder episode of the Dissect podcast, I think they said he rhymes over 90% of the syllables. Not words, syllables. That’s just incredible.
Ballskin from Born like this is soooo good and I believe it fits your criteria well.
I might be the only one that got into him because of this song. My buddy showed me the song and pointed out the line “its like a murder spree get sniped verbally, and beat in your head with lead pipe languages”, and got hooked.
Gazillion Ear, Lickupon, Microwave Mayonnaise, and Mic Line are songs where I feel like DOOM's in his bag and focused like meek was.
Saliva off his Viktor Vauhn Album
The Drop!!!!!!! That shit is a master class
Vomitspit
Spokesperson
figaro, meat grinder, vomitspit, that's that, gazillion ear

Name a song where doom DOESN'T rap his ass off
Break in the action and All outta ale
Change the beat
I have only some idea about what DOOM is even saying in Coco Mango but that comes to mind. The Fine Print, I feel like most of his songs could apply though
some crazy raps that i havent seen anyone mention are untitled aka change the beat, absolutely, gas drawls, and phantom
