Gary’s is decent. But I feel like now how they keep the burgers in a hot case is making them go downhill. Also I do like some toppings on my burger and I think it’s dumb how Gary’s charges for special sauce.
I'll go so far to say the Griz Burger is the best burger in Missoula. The second frugals opening close to my work has definitely added a few pounds to my belly.
Mo clubs burgers scare me. Super unsanitary there. They hang the burger flipper spatulas between the flat top and the counter. Think that has ever been cleaned?
That old grill is what makes the burgers so good! The shakes/malts are delicious too. I still prefer Wally’s and Gary’s, but Mo Club’s reputation is well-deserved.
My personal tier list;
3: The Juicy burger @Despo’s
2: The new double burger @Wally and Buck’s
1: The cheese burger +bacon+fried over easy egg @the Oxford
There is a food truck on front street only serving burgers 🍔 I thought I lost my taste since Covid until I ate one of these.Sorry I can’t remember the name but you can’t miss them!
FLIPPERS
Edit: I just went through all of the comments, none of you mentioned Flippers. This makes me believe that none of you actually grew up in Missoula. every post that doesn't mention Flippers should be looked at critically.

I wouldnt have believed it if I hadnt had it myself but Buffalo Wild Wings makes a great burger. I was surprised because it's nominally a chicken place, but damn if theyre burger isnt the best I've had in a long time.
Every single one of these threads is filled with people giving the absolute most dish-water disgusting suggestions humanly possible. Cook your burger at home you’ll be way happier.
Double K or Lolo Peak Brewing. Wally & Buck and Flippers is decent, but you can get the same thing at 5 Guys (yes, I said it). Tamarack has a good burger. So does Mo Club. Frugals if you’re wanting a good fast food burger.
I’m thinking we maybe had a bad go of it the couple of times we tried W&B. I wanted to like them, and I absolutely love their fries, but I just wasn’t impressed with their burger.
93 stop and go. RIP❤️
Only the real ones know
Flippers a close second.
Duper
Loved that place as a kid.
For $6 you really can't beat Gary's Local imo. Also the burgers at Tin Can in Stevensville are bomb

I’ve been to Gary’s probably close to 10 times and have never had a burger that wasn’t made to order.
Went there 2 days ago and they just pulled a burger out of a hot case and handed it to me.
Double K or Wally and Buck
So no one mentioned it, when I’m in a rush I think Frugals is the best of the “fast food” burgers
I’ll agree with the frugals burger is a banger. And their price is spot on. $5 for a cheeseburger with all the toppings is a hard one to beat.
loveeeeee Frugals
I'll go so far to say the Griz Burger is the best burger in Missoula. The second frugals opening close to my work has definitely added a few pounds to my belly.
Mo Club, Gary’s Local, Double K in no particular order.
Mo clubs burgers scare me. Super unsanitary there. They hang the burger flipper spatulas between the flat top and the counter. Think that has ever been cleaned?
Mo clubs burger popularity is 90% drunk fueled nostalgia.
This makes me wonder if you’ve actually had one.
I have, many times, on both ends of the intoxication spectrum! I'm not saying it is bad mind you.
Legitimately never heard someone say that about Mo Club. Also never eaten it drunk either.
That old grill is what makes the burgers so good! The shakes/malts are delicious too. I still prefer Wally’s and Gary’s, but Mo Club’s reputation is well-deserved.
Not in Missoula, I know, but what do yall think of naps
Nap's is worth the drive. It's a nice cruise down the Bitterroot and I really enjoy their burgers and milkshakes.
I miss the taste of the old grill from their old location. I might just be imagining things, tho.
Truth. Old grill/naps deal was soooo much better
Naps deal around 2006 is a core memory lmao
They used to have a Missoula location and it was awesome while it lasted. Now it’s the Tamarack, which is meh, at best.
I wish Naps still had a place in Missoula. I have no idea why it didn't work.
My personal tier list; 3: The Juicy burger @Despo’s 2: The new double burger @Wally and Buck’s 1: The cheese burger +bacon+fried over easy egg @the Oxford
Wally and Buck has a double? Awesome!
Mo club, Press Box and the guy in the trailer near Front St Pizza
Gary’s Local has tasty Oklahoma smash burgers for $6 or so. Open late, too
Boxcar
Double k and wally and bucks. I don't understand how people like garys other than it being cheap.
You obviously don’t like smash burgers if you don’t like Gary’s.
I think I just prefer not having a bunch of burnt onions on my burger, smash or not.
On the slightly more $ side, but scotty's table, hands down!

Flippers was said in my original post. Guess I’m a real Missoula person.
Mo club & the despo
Tamarak brewing makes a decent burger.
I dig the Cambie burger. Delish!
Double K 100% Gary’s if I’m feeling cheap.
Paul’s has a massive double cheeseburger that is fantastic
I wouldnt have believed it if I hadnt had it myself but Buffalo Wild Wings makes a great burger. I was surprised because it's nominally a chicken place, but damn if theyre burger isnt the best I've had in a long time.
Try the one at the Texas roadhouse next. One of the best values in town.
Nap's. It's only about an hour out of town, so it counts as Missoula.

You're so edgy....
I will say that the hamburger meat from local grocery stores is some of the best I’ve ever had. Agree, bbq your own burger with local meat.
Can we start with not a dry burger? In other words, that rules out at least Wally and Buck and Double K.

Lmfao @ comparing Five Guys to Wally & Buck. Not hating on Five guys by any means, but they aren’t really comparable.
I’m thinking we maybe had a bad go of it the couple of times we tried W&B. I wanted to like them, and I absolutely love their fries, but I just wasn’t impressed with their burger.
Just here to see how many people the garbage served at Mo Club is the best burger in town.
Double K is total shit. Overpriced, overcooked, and a sponge for a bun. Flippers or River City Grill in Bonner are both far superior.
