That’s actually insane lol

CyborgAlgoInvestor

Half of those trades have just been Leon and Presti trade jerking it out. Remember, It’s not gay if the picks are protected

The_Uncut_Gem

The Thunder may overtake the Wolves as my western team just for our constant pick swapping lmao

joeveralls

You guys are now my eastern conference team because of all the pick swapping lol

The_Uncut_Gem

Legit matching each others freak rn I love it

-PredictiveTextOnly-

The team colors are there

topofthecc

The insane fan bases, too (the only difference is that ours is 75 year old white grandmas)

MazeRed

Thunder own 6 2029 2nd picks. 20% of the 2nd round. We own 9 picks total in 2029

ImSoRude

> Remember, It’s not gay if the picks are protected Why is this the first time I've heard this banger 😂

1The_Mighty_Thor

So a 2 day draft while annoying for the fans gives teams more time to work on deals for both ends of the draft it seems

IMKudaimi123

I think it’ll work if they do Thursday Friday Honestly 3 pm Friday is fine too to avoid the NHL draft

spotty15

The monkey paw curls yet again....

FlatMilk

sam presti's america

CyborgAlgoInvestor

And it’s beautiful damnit

PrimaryAccording9162

Second round picks getting passed around like a blunt

birdflag

Pass Pass Pass Pass Puff

DJunu

No Puffy

The_Uncut_Gem

Leon Rose and Sam Presti to be honored by the United Nations for their work in this achievement

topofthecc

World Trade Organization Hall of Famers

VCarry-NL

Shows how valuable second round picks are now

Beatnik77

And some teams missed the memo

ClaymoresRevenge

You can have second round picks?

budubum

Why are they so valuable now? Is it just bc there is more talent?

km912

It’s just currency, first round picks are also used that way but if you make a bad trade sending out your first it gets you fired, nobody cares about seconds though.

gonets34

The 2nd apron makes it really hard for contenders to fill out their roster. This means that if you hit on a couple of 2nd round picks, you have some rotation players on a very cheap contract.

Bullseyefred

More talent, more roster spots (2 ways), cheap way of getting potentially decent role players or end of the bench guys, can make “risky” picks on raw players for little cost.

memphislynx

Other comments are touching on it, [but the big difference for some teams is the new 2nd round pick exception. It allows teams to add to their roster while maintaining the full MLE to sign veteran players.] (https://www.si.com/nba/raptors/toronto-raptors-see-benefit-in-new-second-round-draft-exception) This can even be used multiple times, while previously some capped out teams had to cut into the MLE to sign 2nd rounders. >The league has carved out a new second-round pick exception: a three-year deal worth up to $5.9 million with an option in the final season or a four-year deal worth up to $8.8 million again with a player option in the final season.

axecalibur

There is less talent, thats why they pushing so hard for Africa basketball. China and South America have not been consistent at producing talent

aussierulesisgrouse

Less talent? Are you off your fucking head lmao. Every sport in the world is more talent dense every decade, there are literally zero sports that aren’t being played at a far, far higher level than 30-50 years ago.

axecalibur

literally the worst draft in decades, so how is that possible? there's more players, but less talent

TetrisTech

Do you think one year’s draft class is wholly indicative of any entire generation of players?

lexington59

Ah yes 1 draft (that we haven't even seen any games for the rookies) absolutely means that all the talent currently in the league doesn't exist. Like bro wtf are you on, there's been so many great drafts in recent history, like last bad draft had gian in it, and that was arguably a worst draft than this. It's very likely we get stars and alot of great role players from this draft like almost every single draft ever (more so in recent years due to being more talented

blz187

Holy shit, as a Swede its crazy to see not one but TWO! Swedes in this years draft! 4th and 5th Swedish players to get drafted, ever

actual_yellow_bag

nobody wants anything to do with anybody in this entire draft lol.

lawnicus18

Sloppy seconds

NoobGaijin

Bronny trade with Bron incoming???

Raven-19x

I feel bad for whatever intern has to keep track of who owns what pick.

Deducticon

As written.

readingreadreading

It feels like every team in the league has their 1 guy they want and everyone is working together to make it happen lol.

FireFoxQuattro

This draft is just cap manipulation at this point lmao

Rich-Conclusion-25

So most of these players are either getting waived or sent to g league or overseas within a year or 2 right?

BobbyBueno

This is the exact clip I watched to make sure I got the quote right lol

Ouchyhurthurt

2nd round picks are like gold in an MMORPG. You can use em to buy a lot, but that epic shit you gotta go get for yourself.

Ikuwayo

Wow, that *is* interesting

Briggity_Brak

And the pick that the Suns DID forfeit was ALSO traded. Too bad Philly still had their own pick, or we'd've had 30for30.

Renegadeforever2024

Dune

Alex_O7

It is not even a real asset anymore, just remove the possibility to ship them I don't give a fuck we will see some less bullshit trades and fuckery just to fix some balance...
