in 2021, after a disappointing quest to repeat as champion, LA’s star player pushed to acquire russell westbrook and the team lost KCP
in 2024, after a disappointing quest to repeat as champion, Denver’s star player pushed to acquire russell westbrook and the team lost KCP
Yeah, I don’t think it’s as bad as people are saying considering the price point.
Westbrook can soak up some creation ability while Jokic sits, and he could be a weapon as a cutter when playing with Jokic (if he buys into that role).
The difference this time is the nuggets bench has already been an unmitigated disaster for the last 2 years.
Worst case scenario it's still just as bad.
Man I'm dying. Every team the people here start with the specific, limited role for Westbrook. It's unbelievable. It might look okay in the regular season but come playoff time it's same shit different day.
Have you ever seen their bench? They have one of the worst in the league. Westbrook is objectively an improvement and it's only $4M for a legit championship contender
Only people who watch Westbrook understand, in the playoffs he actively hurts your team. He cannot shoot. Teams can ignore him.
No winning team wants Westbrook.
My point is that it's really easy for you to sit there and go "lol Nuggets" when you can't even name a single other player that they could get that would be significantly better than him
>legit championship contender
lmfao... they are like middle of the pack at this point, give me the celtics, thunder, knicks, bucks, pacers, sixers, wolves, suns, mavs over them
You are out of your fucking mind picking Suns, Thunder or Pacers over them
Knicks have done nothing yet. Bucks look mid, sixers probably won't be healthy again
I can see Jokic feeding Russ on cuts like Aaron Gordon. Obviously the spacing is shit, but Russ can have his value if utilized correctly. Wouldn't love too many postseason minutes though.
I mean, on the lakers he was making $40M+ so yeah, the expectation was he should be winning. I thought it as a dogshit fit at the time but this narrative of “this time it’ll work” has been said for every new team Russ joins and it…just doesn’t work.
That's the dumbest argument I've ever heard. He was being paid that much by the wizards and then LeBron demanded they trade for him. It's not his fault he was a shit fit
Explain to me how it's Westbrook's fault that the Lakers traded for him when everyone and their mother said it was an awful trade at soon as it happened
For the record, I'm not saying Westbrook is good in a vacuum. But acting like having him off the bench for $4M is bad for a cap strapped team is moronic
i think its hilarious the last few years that a team ships off Reggie Jackson just to replace him with Russell Westbrook (especially if the Nuggets actually get him)
People in here don’t watch basketball, they just watch Westbrook low light clips.
It’s pretty obvious that he would help us out tremendously and help Jokic out with playmaking challenges.
The only concern I have is Westbrook’s fit with Watson off the bench
Westbrook’s ‘playmaking’ has alot of risk to take. He has so many momentum changing turnovers and often rush through. Nuggets are the worse 3 point shooting team than clippers
>The only concern I have is Westbrook’s fit with Watson off the bench
True. That and AG when staggering the starters. Watson's form looks nice tbf, he apparently works a ton on it and he had a very promising stretch in the middle of the season but he's still far from a shooter. Hopefully he's made some progress in the summer, even being league average on open 3s for a full year would be crucial for him
lmfao, he's going to ruin your team and frankly i hope he does since you have so much hope and think somehow that a guy that has been dogshit for his last 3 teams will be any different on yours
When Lebron did it he was an idiot for pushing for it. I am waiting for everyone to say now what a genius he is and that he will make it work. I believe it will work and Russ running the second unit would be massive for the Nuggets
It makes sense like I said yesterday, someone who can get to the rim, provide ballhandling/playmaking and he will become a willing cutter with jokic and get easy transition buckets. He's perfect for the bench which is desperate. Everybody posts career highs in efficiency with jokic.
Jokic is PUSHING for Westbrook? Ok I did not see that coming. But Jokic most likely just wants Russ because their bench is booty cheeks so I guess it makes sense.
If Jokic won one with Russ it would count as 2
Hardmode
should be 3
The actual hardest road, and he’s asking for it. What a psycho
r/NBA isn’t going to like this
It’s Jokic, they’ll act like it’s the best move this offseason lol

Does that mean we are about to get a championship?!
No these events would mean you’re the pit stop he underperforms at (Wizards)before getting traded for peanuts to the next champion
Damn lol well we got until 2030 so we are still on target! lol
Everyone is gonna shit on this but I honestly think it's a great fit. The nuggets definitely need a spark off the bench
Yeah, I don’t think it’s as bad as people are saying considering the price point. Westbrook can soak up some creation ability while Jokic sits, and he could be a weapon as a cutter when playing with Jokic (if he buys into that role).
Same conversation every time Westbrook joins any team
The difference this time is the nuggets bench has already been an unmitigated disaster for the last 2 years. Worst case scenario it's still just as bad.
Man I'm dying. Every team the people here start with the specific, limited role for Westbrook. It's unbelievable. It might look okay in the regular season but come playoff time it's same shit different day.
they have no shooters lmao hardly a great fit
Name one other player they can realistically get given their cap space that's significantly better than Westbrook
Delon Wright just signed for the minimum. Lol
Delon Wright blows... This sub is insane. Are you actually arguing that Delon Wright is better than Westbrook and would help the Nuggets more?
nuggets are positioning themselves for the 5-7th seed
KCP...wait 😬
It’ll be a spark alright, burn the nuggets down
Maybe Russ will channel the same FU energy Reggie and DAJ had when they played the Clips.
Since Nuggets are at high elevation, it is harder to start fires. Thus Nuggets are less likely to burn down due to WB
Okay tell me one other player that should realistically get instead
Lol what am I the nuggets FO?
My point is that it's really easy for you to sit there and go "lol Nuggets" when you can't even name a single other player that they could get that would be significantly better than him
Anyone who thinks Westbrook has a chance to work needs their head checked. That’s all I’m saying.

Great argument
lmao Celtics fan sneering at the team that has the best shot at wrecking them
LMFAO you think adding to-be 36 year old westbrook will wreck us???
with Westbrook you guys will clearly win. without Westbrook nuggets have a better chance of beating you guys than all those other teams
I can see Jokic feeding Russ on cuts like Aaron Gordon. Obviously the spacing is shit, but Russ can have his value if utilized correctly. Wouldn't love too many postseason minutes though.
lmfao he's literally going to ruin that team, he's ruined every team he's been a part of why do you think this is different?
Really? He ruined the Lakers? He ruined the Clippers? Was Westbrook supposed to somehow save these teams?
I mean, on the lakers he was making $40M+ so yeah, the expectation was he should be winning. I thought it as a dogshit fit at the time but this narrative of “this time it’ll work” has been said for every new team Russ joins and it…just doesn’t work.

lol ok

he didn't ruin the clippers, his most recent team.
I’m getting whiplash from this storyline
not my tempo
Rushing or dragging?
1 2 3 *slap* 1 2 3 *slap*
A team failing to repeat, loses KCP, and gets Russell. Seems familiar
Hey, I've seen this one!
With its star pushing to get Westbrook
Players love Westbrook 🤷♀️
Until they play with him, it seems.
Surely if this is the case then jokic wouldn’t want to play with Russ lol? The players do talk to each other.
True, Jokic is definitely famous for how much he talks to/hangs out with other NBA players.
So what about the 4 teams he’s joined? The nuggets have other players too
he's ass dude, what is so hard to believe about that? he was dogshit the last 3 teams he was on my guy
All of his former teammates except Reggie Jackson straight up gush about the guy, on and off court
i think its hilarious the last few years that a team ships off Reggie Jackson just to replace him with Russell Westbrook (especially if the Nuggets actually get him)
If I were Reggie at this point I would commit seppuku but hey that’s just me
he got a ring (w/ Jeff Green) so tbh he's not *that* mad anymore
I’m having Flashbacks
Booth has just been sitting on his hands doing nothing, so I can understand Joker trying to push for literally anybody.
Nuggets fans, is this insider reliable?
Very
No
Jokic is on the mission to be the GOAT: lead Westbrook to the ring.
They need an energy boost off the bench with their depth thinning. Russ is relatively cheap, they should be able to easily salary match.
If he's coming off the bench then I think this would actually be a good fit for the nugs they have had some issues with the 2nd unit
Jokic winning Westbrick a ring would do unimaginable damage to my goat's legacy
Oh man, my guy Carl Tart is gonna be so conflicted by this report.
Maybe Jokic thinks he can turn Russ into a miniature Aaron Gordon with his cutting
I’m tired boss
My head canon is that you guys get Kris Dunn for 2/5m and Lonnie Walker for 3/24 and I'm trying to put that into the world for y'all.
Every MVP from LeBron to Harden to Jokic loves the idea of Westbrook. Eventually, they all learn why KD wanted off the Brodie ride.
Cat ! Meow !
The only player KD had positive things to say about in OKC was Russ lol.
People in here don’t watch basketball, they just watch Westbrook low light clips. It’s pretty obvious that he would help us out tremendously and help Jokic out with playmaking challenges. The only concern I have is Westbrook’s fit with Watson off the bench
Dont worry you’ll get there. We all do
Westbrook’s ‘playmaking’ has alot of risk to take. He has so many momentum changing turnovers and often rush through. Nuggets are the worse 3 point shooting team than clippers

I’m sure you know more than Jokic
early CTE?
Whoa! That would be an interesting fit. Maybe Russ comes off the bench as a playmaker?
As a nuggets fan we’re good. There’s zero chance Jokic wants Westbrook.
At this point they need anyone who can contribute off the bench
When Lebron did it he was an idiot for pushing for it. I am waiting for everyone to say now what a genius he is and that he will make it work. I believe it will work and Russ running the second unit would be massive for the Nuggets
It makes sense like I said yesterday, someone who can get to the rim, provide ballhandling/playmaking and he will become a willing cutter with jokic and get easy transition buckets. He's perfect for the bench which is desperate. Everybody posts career highs in efficiency with jokic.
I’m a nuggets fan and Harrison is a Nuggets homer who has no insider info. He’s always wrong in his takes and predictions
I mean, for 4 mil and being ok to come on from the bench, why not?
LeJoker
Jokic actually wants him just to throw lobs to his buddy DeAndre Jordan. Jokic likes watching a good dunk I guess
I hate rooting for the clippers and want Russ to win a ring. He’d be great coming off the bench in Denver
Jokic is PUSHING for Westbrook? Ok I did not see that coming. But Jokic most likely just wants Russ because their bench is booty cheeks so I guess it makes sense.
if they make it work, this is the most boss move ever game respects game, westbrook has seen his share of vitriol, some horses will do him good
He probably thinking Russ can replace some of what Bruce brown provided
Lets go
I would love to see Russ get a ring before the snek.
Wtf am i reading?
Are the Nugs just shopping from the Clippers point guard depth chart? Who will they want next season, Bones Hyland?
Nuggets definitely contending for biggest losers of the offseason barring Westbrook transforming his game at the 11th hour of his career
