Coming from console, that was something that surprised me. The sales on Steam.
I remember when I first got my pc I went and bought a ridiculous amount of games during a sale lol. Just kept throwing em in my cart, and it didn't even come to 100 bucks.
Still haven't gotten to all of those games I bought that day.
Not a skill gap here. I’ve never even played this game Lmao. All F2P games are riddled with Battle Pass and Starter Packs. Thanks, I’ll pass and take my unoptimized $69 AAA.
Gaijin’s cooking those numbers. They’re reactivating banned accounts to pump the population count up. Wouldn’t past them to do shit like that either. In any case, fuck them and fuck that game.
This. I prefer Steam, but I've had half a dozen titles I was going to buy anyway given to me for free on EGS.
I think GOG has free stuff too sometimes (wasn't Daggerfall Unity one of them?), and there are subs for tracking access to various alphas and betas.
Humble will also have big packs of games for cheap.
And there are deal-tracking subreddits (but rule 3 on the side so i can't link them here) for games and the isthereanydeal website.
Yep, i had death stranding, the 3 tomb raider games for free, and i wouldnt hate on that
In that regards, im thankful withrhose kids rocking vbucks like candy, they make unreal engine for free, quixel for free, and many games for free lololol
Also, if you've got Amazon Prime, check out their [Prime Gaming](https://gaming.amazon.com/home) website, they've got a rotating selection of free games (usually older stuff, but it's not nothing).
It never hurts to start building out a wishlist on Steam either, doing this will set it up so that Steam will alert you when a sale pops up for said game(s). Worth doing, because while the big seasonal Steam Sales are hard to miss, smaller publisher sales pop up all the time and are much harder to spot and/or have smaller purchase windows.
Humble Bundle is also worth a look every now and again. I've legit bought fifteen games for like $15 from their bundles, some of the profits go to charity which is also nice.
Plenty of options for PC gaming on the cheap.
Turn off chat and quick chat. I started playing infinitely better when I didn’t have to worry if my fuck up was going to get a reaction from a teammate
epic game store... hate the launcher if you must, but the free games are worth grabbing even if you log in in mobile to claim them on your account until you've built your PC. It's a start!
Replaying old games just to see how well they run and look at max settings is definitely joyful. I had a laptop with a GeForce 315M before I built my and before being sble to get my 3060 Ti, I had a GT 710
EPIC games is definitely worth it. I got an account there in 2020 when the rona started and they started giving more free games. I have like 100 games from there now. Few i got base game free and liked and got its dlc. They also gave coupons for $10 or $20 off for games.
Free to play games on Steam are also good. Discounts can be nice sometimes.
For buying games GOG is probably the best since those are drm free and dont need to worry of drm stopping you from playing old game in the future.
There is also the google machine for downloading anything you want. There are risks but if you learn to avoid bad sites you could end up getting thousands of games out there. You’re gonna need a bigger drive.
The things that get downvotes on this site amaze me sometimes. Also it only takes 2 before the monkey brain kicks in and people pile on, meanwhile the original comment is something along the lines of “I never really understood how that worked.”
Warframe and PoE are both accessible to people that want to play almost entirely solo. PoE even has a dedicated playstyle for not interacting with other players (and you could do the exact same thing in Warframe).
On PC ??! I think I have spent ~100€ in the last 3 years in game, and I bought quite a lot of games, but I always take them on discount. Or sometimes I play F2P. Or abandonnedware. Or some game that I emulate because they aren't sold anymore. (And sometimes its key seller like Instant Gaming, but I mean, who buy Civ6 for 200€ ?)
Nah, I talked about the options that make PC gamers not paying nearly as much in software as PS/Xbox/Nintendo gamers. I don't even understand how you missed that. Maybe you are just angry at the fact that you didn't know all the things I talked about ?
From my own experience it is more like building new gaming PC and then simply could not decide what to play from your immense Steam library.
So back to watching Youtube gaming vids as before :-/.
humble bundle, fanatical, gamivo, steam sales, epic games freebies games every Thursday
Don't worry you're gonna build up a large library that you probably won't even play
DESTINY and WARFRAME are both super popular and free***Warframe more than destiny but still.
Valorant
Fortnite
Apex
Fall Guys
CoD WARZONE is filled with hackers but idk still pretty fun tbh
FFIV
And there's a ton of games that are still a blast and like $20 bucks or less if you know where to look
GTA5 is like $20 in some places
GRIS is legit one of the best games I've ever experienced (not necessarily played but damn it's good. Borderline masterpiece imo)
Speaking of masterpieces check out Nier Automata
CYBERPUNK 2077 is still kinda lifeless with like 3 cars in the road and no npcs speak lol but with a few mods here and there it's actually a really good game solid 8/10 for me. Can be found for 20-30 on some sites
And finally another game that kinda had a similar story like cyberpunk at least in it's release is No Man's Sky. 8/10 from a friend of mine with almost 500 hrs in it nowadays...
If you're into the indi scene...real quick
HADES
SABLE
HALLOW KNIGHT(goated?)
SHOVEL KNIGHT
INSIDE
JOURNEY (goated?)
LIFE IS STRANGE (goated?)
That should help you get started and at most, if you look on sites like G2A and some European sites you can get ALL of these games you'll spend about $100 bucks give or take. Or you can spend like $45 and get ALL of the games listed, not the AAA titles per say and still all the Indy ones. I've played and beaten all of these besides Sable which I just got, and No Man's Sky. But yeah hope this helps!
Meanwhile it's the opposite problem for me, Tons of games from Epic games and steam but can't play them due to slow hardware and a lack of a dedicated gpu
I built a pc to play rocket league with those sweet sweet 144 frames per second. Turns out by the time I built my pc I forgot I also had to buy windows 10 and couldn’t afford to buy rocket league (back in 2019 before it was f2p) so I begged my parents for an early bday present🤣🤣
Free to play games are here plus I've amassed quite a collection at a relatively cheap price by grabbing stuff from Steam/Gog sales. Sailing the seven seas is definitely an option too
Four games are right now
* [Fallout: New Vegas - Ultimate Edition](https://store.epicgames.com/p/fallout-new-vegas--ultimate-edition)

Every week there's at least one free game from EPIC most of which are DRM free you can install then run without the launcher
From time to time there are giveaways from GOG.COM from publishers and developers on steam so you should have a good start while you save to buy the games you want to play

Free to play games to the rescue.
Don't forget about the great games of yore, on sale at three bucks.
I do a monthly Humble Bundle subscription. Not every month is a winner, but I finally have that coveted backlog of unplayed Steam games.
get MDK for like $4
Coming from console, that was something that surprised me. The sales on Steam. I remember when I first got my pc I went and bought a ridiculous amount of games during a sale lol. Titanfall 2 is on sale for $4 aud

I'm out of the loop, what's wrong with War Thunder?
Yes.
basically the game devs have made it so that it is completely pay to win
He's just butt hurt that their little boycott failed miserably. People are playing more than ever right now.
Sounds to me like they’re paying more than ever.
Skill issue

Lol, You should rename you account to TheConspiracyMan.
You should change your name to "Mr\_Twatpenny"
Free full games on Epic to the rescue.
This. I prefer Steam, but I've had half a dozen titles I was going to buy anyway given to me for free on EGS. League is free and grants you a free ticket to the mental hospital
Delete this comment before it’s too late
Look children, mental illness is happening. LoL
Rocket League is the superior free-to-play League.
Facts. Also the most toxic community possible so even extra value
Turn off chat and quick chat. I started playing infinitely better when I didn’t have to worry if my fuck up was going to get a reaction from a teammate
This is the way.
every community is toxic if you compare it to LoL
dear god
Warframe
epic game store... hate the launcher if you must, but the free games are worth grabbing even if you log in in mobile to claim them on your account until you've built your PC. It's a start!
Fallout New Vegas is free on there right now
Nothing brings me joy like a new PC running a 13 year old game.
Replaying old games just to see how well they run and look at max settings is definitely joyful. I had a laptop with a GeForce 315M before I built my and before being sble to get my 3060 Ti, I had a GT 710
13 yo game with 100 visual and gameplay enhancing mods, and by gameplay enhancing i mean futas with huge dongers.
My name is fisto
Plenty of game time in that until op can afford multiple games that will probably be shit compared to new Vegas
Nothing worse than the EA launcher
You can do everything Epic Games through “Heroic Game Launcher” which is so much better in terms of responsiveness and usability
EPIC games is definitely worth it. I got an account there in 2020 when the rona started and they started giving more free games. I have like 100 games from there now. Game pass and game sharing :)
Game Pass is such a bang for a buck, instantly gives you backlog of 10+ years of Steam sales
NOOO
Yes it does.
Buddy, what?? Apex? Fortnite? CSGO? Dota? League? Valorant? Warframe? Destiny? PoE? Rocket League? Halo? Warzone? PUBG? Fall Guys?
To be fair there’s a large amount of people that don’t like multiplayer games… me being one. *Def not coming from a champ R6S and champ RL player*
Not sure why I’m getting downvoted. Multiplayer games aren’t the only games that exist. People play other games and you have to pay for them.
The things that get downvotes on this site amaze me sometimes. Also it only takes 2 before the monkey brain kicks in and people pile on, meanwhile the original comment is something along the lines of “I never really understood how that worked.”
>You have to pay for them. 🏴☠️
There’s free single player too but usually low budget
Warframe and PoE are both accessible to people that want to play almost entirely solo. PoE even has a dedicated playstyle for not interacting with other players (and you could do the exact same thing in Warframe).
😎
hey OP protip don't play any of these. I just extended your lifespan a solid 20 years
Fallout new Vegas is free on epic games rn. It would be a good start
At this point I've spent more on games than actual hardware.
You've completely gone off topic and started ranting about your whole life's story.
What’s wrong with life story bro
Nah, I talked about the options that make PC gamers not paying nearly as much in software as PS/Xbox/Nintendo gamers. I don't even understand how you missed that. Maybe you are just angry at the fact that you didn't know all the things I talked about ?
Just get portal and portal 2. They’re iconic. Easy intros to mouse and keyboard and they’re really cheap.
Funny enough it was Minecraft that taught me how to WASD

r/freegamefindings and epic store to the rescue
Finish building your pc. I dont have any time to play
It’s 2023, no one owns games
there are enough free giveaways on various platforms like Steam and EPIC to have hundreds of games very quickly
From my own experience it is more like building new gaming PC and then simply could not decide what to play from your immense Steam library. So back to watching Youtube gaming vids as before :-/.
Xbox Game Pass: Shut up b\*\*\*\*
humble bundle, fanatical, gamivo, steam sales, epic games freebies games every Thursday Don't worry you're gonna build up a large library that you probably won't even play
Roblox is fun
Epic games gives two free a month, i have like 150 games now. All the borderlands, batman, death stranding, a ton of stuff.
They give 1 free per week, not 2 per months. :)
Alternative Ending: Finished building your PC, you bought alot of AAA games, but you still have your old HDD that only have 10GB available.
Lots of free to play games and lord knows you can get all the classics on steam for cheap if you wishlist them and just wait a while
Roblox! Rocket League!
Humble Bundle might be a good place to start. Also retro emulation is cool.
You don't own any games if you've ever read the agreements. You own right to launch them. That's the shittiest part about licensed stuff.
I have a million games and no pc. Since I can't afford one.
Million games, PC, switch, PS5, PS4. But playing PS1 games on emulator lol
DESTINY and WARFRAME are both super popular and free***Warframe more than destiny but still. I had a bunch of games on my epic account way before I had a PC
Just pirate them
Now don't be a landlubber
Emulators are your friend!
Op you're farming karma. Everyone knows there is no such thing as "I don't own video games" on pcs
Rocket League is free and only game you need
Meanwhile it's the opposite problem for me, Tons of games from Epic games and steam but can't play them due to slow hardware and a lack of a dedicated gpu
also don't own any modern warfare 2 mountain dew code red gaming chairs. Damn, gaming is hard.
I have an entire harddrive full of games I've never bothered to install after downloading them. I fail to see the issue here.
I built a pc to play rocket league with those sweet sweet 144 frames per second. Turns out by the time I built my pc I forgot I also had to buy windows 10 and couldn’t afford to buy rocket league (back in 2019 before it was f2p) so I begged my parents for an early bday present🤣🤣
humblebundle and other bundles if you have $1- $20 to spend
I just played roblox and certain steam games (mostly gmod) that I already owned from using my dad's laptop
I know it's shit but Epic games store provide weekly free games
Member when gpu used to come with a free game? I member.
Happened, I still just have a few games and a few are free.
League of Legends is free.
Epic store
Tons of free (legal) games on the internet.
I remember when I built my first case with no optical drives without thinking about my CD/DVD ROM collection. I gained a bookcase.
Easy solution epic games account and game pass. Came back to PC gaming and enjoy playing minecraft on a 2k rig, lol.
Plenty of solid F2P games as well as Codex versions until you can buy legit copies XD
Game pass.
[epicgames.com](https://epicgames.com) gives away free games all the time
Raid Shadow Legends!
Free to play games are here plus I've amassed quite a collection at a relatively cheap price by grabbing stuff from Steam/Gog sales. Sailing the seven seas is definitely an option too
Borderlands 2 is $5 on steam.
Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me
Steam sales will fix that shit real quick
