Hard to say this without sounding churlish, because Toulouse are a fantastic side, but without one particular insanely good player for them we would have won handily enough in London. As it was we drew in normal time. Honestly, I'm not feeling as bad as people seem to want or expect us to feel!
And that's how you should, though I reckon the multiple URC failures are less understandable even considering the lack of motivation of your club in that competition comparing to HCUP
Didn't watch but came here to read the room and see if I could tell who won. Just googled.
Damn. God fucking damn.
Fair fucks to Leinster man. They took it to the death.
Bordeaux? What are you guys going to do? That's going to sting for years.
Close to 60 points basically put on you in a final. 3 in return. Ouch.
Toulouse. It's always Toulouse. If I went into a coma and then came out years later and someone asked me who won trophies that year, it's always easiest to say Toulouse.
How can they always win and are persistently successful. Someone needs to beat them in France and in Europe. Quickly.
There's no special rugby rivalry between Bordeaux and Toulouse, it's not like France-England. Players in Toulouse and Bordeaux are mutual friends so it shouldn't be difficult to overcome. It will just remain a story they'll tell to their children.
They send relative weakened side there and refused to take a draw. UBB, LAR, SF and Toulon all have beaten similar sides
Only Castres once again beat the first team with no excuses possible from Toulouse side. I imagine how happy they were when Castres failed to reach play-off
What a brutal, brutal night for Bordeaux Begles. Played some beautiful stuff earlier in the season but they won’t be thinking about that now. Tough one to bounce back from. :/
ST were class though.
I think they can be proud of their season still, the difference with Toulouse was just too big I think everyone already knew that before the match anyway, can't blame them.
Fun fact, the now second biggest points gap in a Top14 final was in 1900, in a Racing - Stade bordelais ( ancestor of UBB ), where Stade Bordelais lost 37 - 3.
Tbf, any team who can stand up in the front have a shot. Aldegheri is the weak link in the first team, and Laulala has been worse. A big scrum can makes us struggle a lot (look at the semi against LAR, Aldegheri alone is responsible for a good chunk of La Rochelle points)
Costes and Merkler will be pushing for starting shirts next year after their stellar year. Mathis Castro is a bit further than them but also has the potential to be a great
I guess the fatigue of the season coupled with the talent of the Toulouse team completely crushed UBB hopes. A lot of credit must go to Mola and Stade capacity for player turn over this season. This Toulouse team is just 27 on average, madness for the future.
Maybe they will have an off season, and not even make it there ! But to be honest, I'm low-key thinking they can make it up there even with an off season.
I'll comment this again now that the match is over: the largest ever margin of victory in a Top 14 final was 34 points, when, in 1900, Racing Club de France beat Stade Bordelais 37-3
Wasn't top14 but in the spirit you are right, a big difference was that a try was worth 3 points back then, dropgoals 4 points and the goal from mark (which doesn't exist anymore since you can only call mark in your own 22m nowadays) also 4 points. Penalties and conversion were already worth 3 and 2 points.

Fair play to Leinster & Quins is all I can say. They least made good showings of themselves.
Bath were also very competitive against them
Don’t think Leinster are winning the champions cup anytime soon even with the reinforcements

Good take. We lost to a better team mainly because of DuPont but don’t forget the best forward on the pitch was Willis
And that's how you should, though I reckon the multiple URC failures are less understandable even considering the lack of motivation of your club in that competition comparing to HCUP
Yes we have definitely underperformed in the URC, and in last year's HC final.
Toulouse are getting even better grow up

Leinster took it that way because they focus on champions cup only. Sincerely think that Leinster in top 14 would be so sucessfull in Europe.
the best part is Toulouse missed almost all their conversion kick/penalty kicks, it should've been worse
There's no special rugby rivalry between Bordeaux and Toulouse, it's not like France-England. Players in Toulouse and Bordeaux are mutual friends so it shouldn't be difficult to overcome. It will just remain a story they'll tell to their children.
There’s a bit of a distaste for the bordelais as a city though with bordeaux being a bit more of a bourgeois city. So I think the win felt pretty good
56 points in a final. Between the teams. Compare to Bath Northampton and Glasgow Bulls. It's not really a great advert for top14.
Ramos : "match was a bit less close, so we could relax a bit at the end" A _bit_ ?
- What is the favorite beer of the French? - Bitburger
To think UBB was one of the only teams to beat the main Toulouse team during the regular season
They send relative weakened side there and refused to take a draw. UBB, LAR, SF and Toulon all have beaten similar sides Only Castres once again beat the first team with no excuses possible from Toulouse side. I imagine how happy they were when Castres failed to reach play-off
There was also Stade Français. But they got eliminated.
Have to admit, I wished for a 9 tries final Not quite what I had in mind tho
Toulouse missed x4 as many points as UBB scored
Oooooof
Moi, j'avais le soleil, jour et nuit dans les yeux d'Émilieeee! (I'm from Toulouse tonight, don't take that away from me)

Glad they nerfed Ramos boot at halftime tho, that maintained the tension
Not Ramos boot only, Kinghorn too.
Fun fact, the now second biggest points gap in a Top14 final was in 1900, in a Racing - Stade bordelais ( ancestor of UBB ), where Stade Bordelais lost 37 - 3.
It's important to pay tribute to your ancestors
Un match qui s'est joué sur des détails.
Maybe Leinster are ok after all
Put Leinster in the top 14 relentless season and we will be able to compare
Underrated comment.
That wasn't a final, that was a massacre, never seen anything like it.
“I made a few mistakes” lol
I know I will be watching this game again at least 10 times
That last try especially I _know_ it happened I still can't believe it This is the craziest shit I've seen this year
As soon as the UBB lost the ball I knew Toulouse was gonna go for it, but holy shit that was magnificient.
Not a UBB fan so it’s safe to say
This Toulouse team have an argument for being the best of all time.
They have the GOAT playing at his best too. Scary for the reast of Europe to see. Not sure who can beat them when they do THAT. Class team.
Tbf, any team who can stand up in the front have a shot. Aldegheri is the weak link in the first team, and Laulala has been worse. A big scrum can makes us struggle a lot (look at the semi against LAR, Aldegheri alone is responsible for a good chunk of La Rochelle points)
Exactly. It's "easy" for the back to shine when the front get the penalties or put you on the front foot.
it's so 08/09 Barca or 16/18 Real
That's usually the way I describe Toulouse to non-rugby fans. It's the Real Madrid spirit with Pep-era Barca's style of play. It's unbeatable.
When i was in rugby school I was told that respecting the opponent is playing until the last whistle. Well UBB have been fuckin well respected today!
Just mental, fucking hell Toulouse, stop being so amazing. How many points did Toulouse leave off the board from missed conversions too!? Phenomenal
At least 10/15 pts I think.
At least 12
Utterly bonkers, coulda been ~69-3 haha
Post match interviewer is being impressively positive.
Would've been 72-3 if they brought their own boots
They were nerfed at half time
Imagine having to do an interview now after losing 💀💀💀
Leinster at least had the fatigue argument and the luck argument. This is just painful. I feel for Bordeaux at this point.
Coleman with the ultimate short straw, doing the interview for Bordeaux
Must have been hard for him not decapitating an opposing player in red and black
You should see Jalibert on the french feed. He can barely string two words together
Gotta reopen some wounds from the world cup
C'est trop.
Felt kinda like France-Namibia
Or England France at twickenham
Too soon
Not quite. DuPont's head is still attached.
Yeah lol fortunately, he still has the olympic gold to look for
What an embarrassing score.
Capuozzooooo
That was outrageous. Add on all the points un-kicked and Clock RFC would have been looking over it's shoulder.
Can anyone work out the score with all missed kicks landing?
70-75 3 i guess
9 tries & 2 pens. 69-3
Well, feck
RAMOS had a choker. SHOULD have been 70+ ponts
He got the record then forgot how to kick
Toulouse by 56 holy shit. They’re the best club side in the world. There is no argument against them
They cheated having a Dupont-Willis-Ramos-Ntamack...and should be nerfed ?
Mauvaka, Flament, Ahki, etc etc...
Kinghorn, Capuozzo, Chocobares
Also how good is Costes? Super impressed by what I've seen from him
Costes and Merkler will be pushing for starting shirts next year after their stellar year. Mathis Castro is a bit further than them but also has the potential to be a great
And adding Efrain Elias next year will make it even sillier. That kid could be another Flament.
He'll have the time to develop, I feel like he's been brought in Toulouse to prepare for Arnold's upcoming retirement
One of the most dominant performances in a final you'll ever see. When are Toulouse playing the Blues? What a game that would be!
Not sure it would be close honestly. Just compare the two pair of halfbacks, there is a galaxy of difference between them.
Dupont / Ntamack are certainly a few steps up from Christie / Plummer
Toulouse scored 3x more tries than UBB scored points 😬
Ouch
I don't think I have ever seen a final like that
I'm 3 for fucking 3 in finals this year. 4 if you count the European cup. First year I've ever had more than one of them win that I can remember
Do me a favor and back Munster next year, please
No can do haha, I've been a Glasgow supporter long enough that munster have pissed on our parade a few too many times
Fair. Then perhaps I could I interest you in some Chicago Hounds?
Possibly, haven't really watched much mlr might have to start
Broke out the hearach to celebrate
Incredible try
That escalated quickly
I guess the fatigue of the season coupled with the talent of the Toulouse team completely crushed UBB hopes. A lot of credit must go to Mola and Stade capacity for player turn over this season. This Toulouse team is just 27 on average, madness for the future.
Is that the worst final performance of any team in any sport?
Given that DuPont was playing it's generally a good day's work to keep it under 100.
They weren't even that much out of it until the last 20mn. This is both a bad UBB game and a massive Toulouse performance
In Top 14 at least it is
Dupont like « man we are FUCKIN THEM UP lol »
Dupont's in love
Penaud just there on his own against 3 😢
Once again: CONGRATS TOULOUSE 🎉
god decided that toulouse wasn’t allowed to convert a single try
It was the only way to make it a fair game
This has to be the biggest final win ever surely
And will be for a while
Until next year maybe ?
Depends who's in final facing Toulouse
Maybe they will have an off season, and not even make it there ! But to be honest, I'm low-key thinking they can make it up there even with an off season.
Kinda hope for a more tied final next year tbh With or without Toulouse
That's peak bm, clock red and your opponent knocks it on so run it in from your own try line Incredible
From the results, Toulouse wouldn't pass up a chance to play and have fun.
I'll comment this again now that the match is over: the largest ever margin of victory in a Top 14 final was 34 points, when, in 1900, Racing Club de France beat Stade Bordelais 37-3

Bordeaux at it again, they actually honoured their ancestors /s
That guy who had the -50.5 bet on must have been sweating bullets for a minute there. Can feel his relief from here.
how many transformations they have failed?
7
lol. thanks.
all of them i think ?
no they did some but I don't remember how much.
bro said "hey Damien, wrong way"
What a fucking finish too
My god what a final
Beyond humiliating lmaoo
Dupont felt dirty for enjoying that try
Penaud is kind of a jerk, may be that is why
He really said: 🤭
Speechless. Ubb fans, please do not throw yourselves in Marseille port
wow just wow. Thought for sure they'd kick it dead after denying the UBB try at the end.
59-3 holy f*cking shit
Hang your heads in shame Bordeaux
Has anyone not scored for Toulouse?
Ahahahahahahah what a cheeky player
I so wanted him to get to try!
Me to man, he deserved it after the injury
Fucking hell
That's such a cruel thing to do, unreal to watch though
Holy fuck
Imagine playing that from yer try line up 50 points at the last play. Jouez fuckin jouez
Just down right obnoxious and I mean that in the nicest sense. You knew they were going to do it as well.
That's sen-fucking-sational
Wowowowow
Nothing to see here, just a 100m try at the 81th mn when you have a 50 point lead.
(in the final!)
Imagine they review that Capuozzo try for 15min now lol
Unfuckingbelievable
Capuezzo forgetting he's playing a team sport.
Well Toulouse are unbeatable, but that's one of the worst games I've ever seen lmao
Best. Club. Side. In. The. World.
Can they keep playing a few more minutes please?
Bordeaux are for sure making history....
Unrelated but how is mauvaka back on?
Same question. I have no idea what the top 14 sub laws are this year but they are wild
Think Willis was exhausted and so Mauvaka took his place.
In top 14, you can get subbed off and subbed back on
Ah thank you, I'm not well read in French rugby
ANGE ❤️
Cant watch the game because of a birthday dinner thank god it seems to be going terribly 🙏
it's a complete slaughter
FUCK YES CAPUOZZO
That’s just cruelty there
This is plain harassment
Rugbyporn
what a joke of a finish hahaha
CAPUOZZO
Lol they are sadistic
Oh my fucking god Toulouse you really didn't have to do that.
Capuozzzzzooooooooooo
Jaysus I don't think I've ever seen any final this lopsided before, in any sport that I can think of. Maybe Germany Vs Brazil world cup 2014?
Not a final though :)
Jesus yeah you're right, that was a semi wasn't it?
Yup
That was a semi
Yeah you're spot on
Nice final try lmao!!!!
Insane
Holy. Mother. Of. The. Fuck.
Put Toulouse in horny jail
BONK
What the? What? What? What?
Insane lmao
Hahaha
That’s ice cold
What a try!!😮😮😮😮
CAPUOZZZOOOOOOOO
Ils sont fous !
Wtf
Kick it out and you can get on the piss sooner
Omg
Let's go Bordeaux
Damn Toulouse are ruthless lmao they still want to play
Champions Cup was frustrating as far as jouez jouez was concerned.
Clock in the red, up by 51, still running it from deep
